Another day

"You need to fight me seriously Kira. Your movements are sluggish and you haven't committed to a single attack yet. The only way you will get back to full strength is if you take this seriously." The two women clashed blades once more, the scythe knocking the short sword to selene's side almost effortlessly. Kira had awoke. Finally feeling back to normal. The likeness that had seemed fatal left her in a weakened state physically, her muscles reacting much more slowly then they once had, but with the haze of confusion finally gone and the soreness that had run rampand through her body for three days finally releasing her movements she was ready to train once more. The only blocks the girl had now was the distrust in her weakened muscles. They had been fighting for hours, weapon strike after weapon strike bringing the ringing of clashing metal to their wars like a symphony with no end but where the crescendo was expected her attacks failed. The music of their battle was a soft allegro at metro piano and never raising to a conclusion. Selene had taken the body of her shadow clone, the girl who once resembled Kira exactly had changed to meet her taste with the transformation jutsu.

"I'm trying" Kira spoke pulling the shield back to hug flush against her chest. The scythe blade came towards her the moment she took the defensive, forcing Kira back another meter to duck under the horizontal strike seeking to remove her head from her shoulders. The moment the attack floated safely above her she pushed forward to get inside of the enormous weapons strike range and limit it's movement. She slashed at Selene with the sword, a horizontal attack to meet the style her opponent had used only this one aimed lower to strike at selene's stomach and open her belly to spill her intestines across the floor before them. The attack was slow, even by their weakened standards, and just before it would have bit into selene's body the attack was pulled a bit, the blade losing momentum. Her resitance was met with force by the spirit of her scythe go shifted slammed the base of her scythe against the ground to anchor it and then shifted the staff portion of her weapon to the right to clashe and deflect the blade away with ease. " my movements are sluggish I can't...."

"You are pulling strikes Kira. Every attack you've thrown at me has lagged just before connecting and given me time to easily shift back to defense. Attack me like I'm a real opponent not one of your children needing to be protected and coddled. If I need to I will begging striking to kill. What then, will you act in kind?" She knew the answer. The situation with yorice had caused the girl to think more carefully about what she did when sparring. She wanted to turn the battle around but just before an attack connected she saw the look on yorice's eyes as he breathed his last gasp of air to fall into the water below. Selene could feel the fear in her mind, being connects fully to the other girls. It worried her. Were this a real fight it could cost her her life to pull the strike. She needed to have a real fight, but the only one able to ofer her thst in the past was out and about god knows where. She could only assume the two ninja who she considered family, the same two who had saved her when she passed out in the frozen tundra, were off doing something important. She wanted to get her strength back up before she visited them, maku in the kage's office and youka inevitably I'm the basement of the hospital within his makeshift room inside of the morgue.

"I....I'm not. I'm giving you my full strikes. This weakened body.." Her excuse was met with cold steel. As she blocked the sword strike her scythe flowed it's glance away to push forward quickly. The base would come quickly forward to thrust at her stomach, connecting and dropping the girl to the ground easily. She felt her breath stolen by the thrust followed by the sting of her knees against the dirt. Her hands touched down shortly after as she tried desperately to stop her body from fully collapsing. It hurt bad enough but the positioning had effectively stunned her to the point thst it took all of her effort to try and keep her arms from buckling and sending her body crashing the rest of the wray to lay against the ground.

"You took your eyes off of my weapon. You know better. It's one on one, and you should not need the rain to watch the movements of a single weapon. Were I to have attacked with the opposite side instead that would have claimed your life child. Do not let me take it that point." As she spoke she brought the scythe blade down on Kira swiftly, aimed at the center of her head.

Her body slid across the ground as soon as she saw the attack coming, her legs slipping under her body as her arms pulled her body forward. She slid just past selene's body on the right side, barely missing the blade as it bit barely into the earth, soiling the tip if the domia scythe with deep brown earth. As Kira slid Selene pulled her arms toward herself, letting the staff slip past her side as she drew a strike towards Kira to ensure her movement continued with grave consequences if she failed to do so. Her feet touched down fully extended out as she reached the end of her arms pan, her eyes pointed skyward to watch the stroke coming from behind her through study of the subtlety of the girl's muscle movements. As she felt the ground against her feet she pushed off to move towards the blade, her body high enough in the air that she would collide with the unsharpened portion that fully but still looking painful. Thankfully as they came close to collision she turned her body to allow it to pass just shy of her chest and she began to lose momentum, her body falling towards the ground. She tucked her head in toward her body as she hit the ground, her body rolling as she touched down, her momentum pushing her back to her feet a few feet away.

"Better. Clearly I need to fight you how youka does..... Prepare yourself child. If you don't fight me seriously it will end with you hospitalized or worse. Prepare child. Today we will test just how efficiently you can defend yourself. We will fight or die." With that she rushed forward.

"You know she's resolved to kill you kid...." Ambers voice slipped into her mind a little too calm and with a slight bit of interest evident in her voice. She almost wanted to see if she could do it, amber thought to herself. She knew the spirit of her scythe well and the curse she bore, if she were willing to go to this extent it meant the future held sorrow she was not yet ready to face, she was thankful for her weapon and protector, of course, but the future was always dangerous for the demon of chance. Behind the large shield like chakram Kira's hands linked, forming seal after seal to perform a jutsu to defend herself. It required a single seal, tiger and then her left arm was tucked back inward towards her body for defense as a stream of water flowed from her lips, the water formed up into a large orb that floated beside her and it grew swiftly until it was around a three meter sphere of liquid. Selene closed the distance just as the jutsu was finished. She slashed downward, a cross strike that would bite into her left shoulder and cut easily through her flesh to cleave the girl in half. As the blade came down her jutsu activated. Two whips shot out first followed by another five. The first two crashed against the scythe, pushing the blade off course easily to defend their master and slowing the attack slightly. The next set moved under the strike to slow them more, using this only as a distraction. Once the water dragon whips touched the metal they began to wrap around it, pulling upward to stop it's momentum easily.

Selene's lip curled into a wicked smile as she felt the first bit of resistance hit. She spun the weapon once which turned easily within the waters grip and her thumb slid to the right most button, pressing it in quickly. The blade attacked to her weapon released, flowing outward as the snath spun to begin rotating and filling the battlefield with the ringing of chain. "Shit." Kira spoke calling out more water whips, she cursed her own idiocy. She knew of the effects of the scythe. It was her weapon after all but she never expected for her to release the blade in a spin at close quarters. She was certain that the weapon's stopped momentum so close to her body would handle the situation easily by stopping the blade from being able to be used to attack.

The blade spun twice, lengthening it's reach to around two feet. The base of her weapon began to rotate turning the tip in a vortex like pivot to continue it's motion. As it was to the proper length she pulled back, fighting against the pull of the whips to get just enough force to activate her strike. The blade turned over to come down on Kira, aimed at a slight angle towards her neck but she moved directly into action. She moved forward, wincing in pain as she felt the bite of the weapon. She had dodged the blade thankfully but the chain was less simple to get around, not that she would have wanted to. The moment she felt the chain strike her she lifted her arm quickly to catch ahold of the weapon. With her hand gripping the chain she ensured that the sharpened portion would be useless. Now she only needed to pay attention to the staff and chained ball.

"Better. Now let's really test you, " as Selene spoke she kicked up the ball hanging from her side. Kira found it ingenious, though currently very dangerous. She summoned more whips to her defence as the sharp spiked ball slid from her side to be held in strong hands. It spun three times swiftly as seene out the staff down against the ground to be used as defense. Kira moved immediately this time, taking the slow motion skill of her powerful vision making things significantly easier. As the water whips came out she wrapped her shelf arm around the chain twice, her other hand sliding the sword from it's shieth, singing out in a clash of metal on metal to warn it's opponent that the time to truely fight had began. She thrust forward just as the staff touched down against the earth but the attack was easily pushed to the side. Selene reciprocated by flinging the chained ball outward towards Kira who raised her arm upward to knock the attack away easily, and as it's momentum was disrupted it simply dropped downward to curve back to Selene. The attacks continued, Kira throwing three more quick stabs towards selene's chest and stomach, but each time the attack barely failed. Selene's staff shifted left to right slowly, knocking each attack away from her and as she did she curled the chain around her wrist. Finally the weight of the ball carried it back to her and she began once more to swing it in slow rotations. "Come on. You are only attacking at my staff you need to do better then that" selene's voice was almost a yell as she loosed the ball once more, this time to curve around and strike toward Kira's die with enough force to crack her ribs in half. The water whips slid past her body, the mass of five straddling her arm as they split up half under half over. The first two hit the ball hard, slowing it as they crashed to the ground as a pool of water but the next set caught the ball effectively, the tip slipping into one of the holes of the long chain. If was sent back at her incredibly quickly, and as the water dragon whips released their attack they slowly flowed back to Kira to rest against her body defensively,well within range if something else were to threaten her.

"Perfect." Selene spoke, watching the weapon pass just too fast for her weapon to defend. The staff moved swiftly to the side, catching the chain with a loud ringing sound. She watched as the great ball moved towards her in slow motion. This would hurt, she thought to herself and it did. The ball crashed against Selene's side and she could instantly feel the cracking of her ribs, the power of the sharp ball tearing into her flesh and shattering the fragile bones far too easilly. Her body disappeared in a puff of smoke, the shadow clone having been dismissed at the fatal damage it was given. 

    "Much better child. you would do well to remember, we are in a fight for our lives daily. There are people who would kill you for no reason other then because you exist. Those who would take pleasure in torturing others and those who would seek out your skills. With the dangers of your team, Missing ninja remember are hunted for sport, You must fight daily to improve your strength. " 

    Kira nodded to the voice in her head. Her resolve was back and she felt stronger then ever despite the slugishness in her body and the weakness in her chakra. 

She sreleased her weapon, both disappearing back into the nether and headed off to her room to rest and take in sustinence. She would need to kep up her strength. The training regimen from this moment on would be the most dificult she had ever experienced. She would study the power of her scythe and learn it's hidden talents while extending her strengths past what she'd experienced in the past. Together they would become that which defeated anything in their path.
