Jutsu Training

Den was finally starting to feel better, now that he knew that this new mutation was not life threatening and could even prove to be beneficial. He supposed that soon he would have to visit Eva and tell her good bye, as he was going to head to Shimagakure to see what Naoki wanted from him. He wondered if he would return to the Waterfall Country, even though he had been living there for the past few weeks he didn’t particularly like the place. He did, for some reason, enjoy Eva’s company, and he wanted her as an ally, so maybe he would return in order to convince her to join him or something.
Maybe he could do that now? Maybe, he wasn’t sure. On one hand, he had known Eva for only a few weeks, but they had a decent relationship as neighbors and Eva was parentless, so the only thing tying her down to Waterfall would be any loyalty she had to the village. And she didn’t perform missions much, maybe she didn’t like the place? Still, it might off as rude if he asked, so he decided to think more on it later. It would probably be a day or two before he would leave anyway.
For now, Den would work on learning a jutsu he supposed. Moving Earth Core seemed like a decent Earth Release tech despite only being D-rank, so he decided he would work on that technique for now.
Den was dressed in a casual outfit as he walked through the village, finding an island where a lot of shinobi trained. It was a few hours before sunrise, so the place was empty as that time would be considered a terrible hour to train, unless you were the type that liked to train alone like Den. Hiroko and Natsumi had followed him, slithering through the water when he had walked from island to island, curious as to what he intended on doing.
Hiroko was the first to actually ask however, upon reaching the training grounds Den stopped for a moment and the young snake caught up to him, moving past him the turning her head to face him, “So, what exactly are you planning on doing here?”
Den had just told them he was going to work on something when he left, he actually hadn’t intended on them following him. It wasn’t that he didn’t enjoy their company, in fact they were both very interesting to talk too, but Den liked to learn by himself. Sure, if he could get away with activating his sharingan and copying a few jutsu that was fine too, but he liked to figure things out himself, and he didn’t want someone trying to teach him to do something a certain way, or someone to see him training and try to put in their own input on how he should go about it. Den liked to go through his own process, figure things out himself so that he could better understand why something needed to be done a certain way, rather than just be told that it needed to be that way without truly understanding.
“I’m gonna try out a new jutsu I’ve been reading about, it allows me to raise or lower the earth.” A versatile technique. Den had read the story of Naruto Uzumaki and how during his first fight with Madara, the leader of Iwa had assisted Naruto by raising the terrain beneath Madara, so that he’d have no chance of avoiding Naruto’s attack. Of course, Madara had managed to counter the attack, but that didn’t mean that everyone could. With this jutsu Den could make the terrain disappear from beneath someone as well, or raise the terrain to make a shield.
“That sounds cool!” Hiroko seemed excited now, she wanted to see Den perform the jutsu it seemed, “How long do you think it will take for you to figure it out?”
Den shrugged, and thought about it for a moment, “Maybe a few tries, or perhaps I shall figure it out the first time.” Den was a master of ninjutsu after all, or at least was extremely proficient in the use of ninjutsu.
Den took a deep breath, and motioned for Hiroko to get out of the way. He clapped his hands together, focusing his chakra so that that he could perform the technique. The sound of his hands smacking each other palm to palm resonated throughout the training ground, though only Den and the 2 snakes were there to hear it. Then den placed his hands onto the cool grass, touching the soil lightly, and putting his chakra into the ground. Despite being from Kiri, Den had an affinity with the Earth, with manipulation of soil, rocks. The very ground was his weapon, and he was intent on one day knowing enough jutsu to make his power over the Earth a great asset.
As if the ground had been cut cleaning and pulled upwards, and column of Earth slowly moved from out of the ground, a perfect rectangle. It seemed that Den truly hadn’t even needed to attempt the technique, his understanding of Earth Release was more than enough to be capable of using the jutsu.
“Woahhhh!” He heard the voices of the two snakes behind him, both seemingly impressed with Den’s use of the technique. The young man, who had once been a Kage, simply laughed for a moment, he wondered how they would react if he sprouted a whole forest form the ground?
Den decided to practice the jutsu a bit more. He raised and lowered the ground around him, making sure to always return it to its previous position when he was done with a particular patch of earth. Sometimes he would stand on the ground he was elevating, so he could get used to the motion of moving up. The jutsu wasn’t that fast, but den believed if he focused his chakra right he could use more to speed the jutsu up. After about an hour of practice den decided he was done, and he and the two snakes returned to his apartment.
