What was it with Ryusei and these super easy, but monotonous missions? Ryusei was currently tasked with cleaning the orphanage. Unfortunately, there was quite literally nobody else around to do this, or anything else, the missions involving hunting down bad guys being reserved for chunin and above it seemed, and the less labor intensive missions for the genin were already taken. He didn’t like fighting in line to be near the front in the morning so he accepted the… other missions, whatever they were. At least the remaining ones were slightly less risky. It was entirely possible after all to get lost on the way out of the village, if someone tried to mug you while you attempted to recapture a pet cat who had fled it’s irritating owner, like a certain incompetent ninja he knew (not him actually, many were surprised to hear this).
Ryusei arrived at the orphanage. It was deathly quiet. Worried, that perhaps the orphanage had been attacked, Ryusei hid in a nearby tree with thick foliage, and sent a clone up to the open door. The door swung in the wind, and as his clone stepped through the door, a massive “BOO!!!!!!!!!” resounded through the morning air, the sound of many kids falling on the floor in an attempt to hit the clone following. Ryusei burst out laughing, up in his spot in the tree, then he nearly had a heart attack, when he was tapped on the shoulder. Looking for the source, he found another kid about his age, who smiled at him.
Ryusei walked into the orphanage, some of the kids present were still rubbing their heads. After a lot of verbal wrangling, Ryusei convinced the older kids present (some were his age, even) to keep the younger ones busy in one half of the orphanage, while he cleaned up the other half. He thought the orphanage workers should be sued for negligence, as that side was filthy. He would try to have a strong word with the Kage about them. In the meantime he would make everything sparkling clean. Ryusei cleaned with fervor, guessing that the place might not be cleaned again, until some other hapless ninja was given a seemingly random menial task. This side was easy, if monotonous. He finished quickly, and walked over to the other half of the orphanage.
Arriving at the other side, he once again had a lot of work to do, as the kids were everywhere. Eventually they were all corralled into the other room, and Ryusei could finally catch his breath. He took a look around him and groaned. The other section had been dirty. That was manageable. This side was terrible. There were broken pieces of furniture, and in many cases the walls were stained with he did not know what. All that AND the area was dirty as heck too. Ryusei found materials to fix up everything in a back shed, and wasted no time. He set to work, and several hours later the other side of the orphanage was in decent shape, including that broken table by the door. Every once in a while he had walked over to check on the kids but there was nothing amiss. He had used up half the nails but at least everything should hold for the time being. Ryusei decided to finish up quick, and cleaned quickly.
The sun was setting as he walked home from the orphanage, another mission complete.
