Task: A grandmother missed her morning brunch yesterday and her family is worried about her safety. Her last known location was in her house on the border of the village, so go check it out and see if there are any problems.
Ryusei walked back to the mission office. He had just finished two missions and he was bushed. Just as he was making his report, a messenger ran in and talked extremely fast to the officials, handing them a piece of paper. The messenger then sprinted right back out of the office, leaving a number of stunned people, including Ryusei, in his wake. Snapping back to reality, the official Rysuei had been reporting too apologized, and gave Ryusei another mission. Ryusei sighed, and took the mission papers.
Apparently, a grandmother had not shown up to eat at the regular time. Her family, being the naturally overprotective type, worried something had happened to her, without checking for word anywhere else, and had to make this a mission. It was, quite frankly, stupid. For all they knew, she could have decided to NOT eat at the ramen shop for once, or visit friends, or even sleep in longer than normal. This last bit was entirely possible as the family liked to eat their so-called “brunch” at 7am, and breakfast started at 4am. How this family managed such a weird schedule he did not know. He remembered one of their sons who had went to the academy with him, and knew that the entire family was up from around 4am to… well, they went to bed later than he did, which usually midnight. It certainly explained the perpetual bags under their eyes.
Ryusei continued on his way to the grandmother’s house, pulling out his book. He had a little time before he would arrive, and he could read a little more in that book, or perhaps more accurately a large pamphlet, considering the binding on it. Finding his place in the book, Ryusei continued reading. He practiced the jutsu again on his arm, checking every once in a while on his path to make sure he was going in the right direction. Satisfied with the results, he tried it on his whole arm. Distracted, he walked into a pole. In his surprise, he well on his bottom, and rubbed his head ruefully. However, he noticed that while he felt pain from the impact, it was nowhere near what he would normally have felt. The jutsu obviously had helped a lot then. It was probably not as good as it could be, if the pamphlet was any judge, but he was getting there.
Ryusei arrived at the grandmother’s house. He knocked, and the good lady opened the door. Inquiring as to the previous day’s events, the woman declared that she wanted to eat something besides ramen, as she had eaten it dutifully the last 2 years in a row, every single day, and she was sick of it. She had instead eaten at a sushi bar, and no, there were no problems, but it was nice of Ryusei to ask anyway.
Ryusei made his report to the official for the third time that day, smiling a little as he imagined what that family might say when they heard what the grandmother said.
