Did she really just kick him? Though the kick wasn't all that powerful to him, the speed did a number to push him back and onto the sand. She really just kicked him, he was thinking. After all he was trying to do in order to keep things peaceful and cool, she just wanted to fight badly. This was beginning to piss him off, he wasn't expected this from this encounter. His anger was beginning to take over and show, and his frustration towards the issue at hand. He really didn't want to fight, he didn't want to have to use his Sage Transformation. Though a voice in the back of his head was urging him to release it and pounce on Gwynevere. Even though it was tempting, Etch tried his best to resolve the issues between the two and keep it peaceful, because Etch was close to blowing a fuse from this. He was beginning to thirst for battle. His thrill for fighting was taking over, and he felt as if she wanted to see something. For this reason he hide these feelings physically. She was also probably stronger then him, but he didn't care as much. Though he knew the smart move would be to calm down.

“Listen Gwynevere, I rather not fight. I don't want to make any bad blood between us, and it just be better for us to work on our Jutsus together...However, if you really are trying to have a fight with me, I might not be that strong towards you but I will have a attempt to spar you. Either way, that was a cheap shot.” He then looked dead into her flaming eyes, and examined her. He added, “However, if you've been looking for someone that loves to fight, or “dance” you found your guy.” He concluded with a smirk. He said that last part out of the admiration of battle and adrenaline running within him. By this time he already abanonded the thought of keeping things peaceful, he's been waiting for a fight, and it be sure as hell fun to do. He was quite eager to fight now.

By this time Etch was already up on his feet in a hostile stance, and aware this woman can attack him at any point, becoming short tempered in his eye. At this point he didn't have a clue how he felt about Gwynevere, and expected a good explanation for that random attack. But if she really wanted to fight, he will do so. But he couldn't promise how he will act in his sage transformation, having all his anger spiked up and running through his veins.

Cheap shot or not she was having fun. When he came back with his own remark and stood in that stance she beamed. Well if he didn't want to dance he shouldn't have signed up for the tournament. By this point the thought of just peacefully practicing jutsu together became like a monster in the cthulu mythos... unthinkable.

Oh no no no she'd tried to gift the young man with her flames and he'd shrugged her off. To bring up an old analogy he'd played with fire, and now he was going to get burned. Having that thought cross her mind Gwyn couldn't help but wonder that now that she'd awoken her bloodline if she was cursed to just have a long series of fire puns running her life for all time. It was very likely. Because Gwynevere loved puns.

Things were getting heated now and Gwynevere was oh so ready to see what her opponents in the arena would be like. She'd lived her entire life as a pizza maker. She'd had as lot of pent up frustration, so sue her. "I wouldn't worry about it. There will only be bad blood if I lose." She slowly curved a leg behind her in an oh so feminine way. Then when she was ready she kicked a wall of her sand to her left hoping to distract etch so she could step to her right get within range and sweep his legs out from under him!

If he really didn't want to fight she'd let up. But he'd have to start crying first.

At this point Etch was glad she didn't accept his peace offering. She wanted a fight, she can get a fight. Besides, it would help to strengthen his abilities in real combat when the time came, so he was quite happy to see this go down. Etch was also measurably pissed at how this all went down. The only thing going across his mind was him wanting to fight Gwynevere, and kick ass. Etch surveyed the site at hand, and witnessed the diversion at hand. He really didn't care about about anything else, and was dead staring at her. He assumed he had to cause bad blood because he was aiming to win. He wasn't going to back down to her challenge, Etch had spunk. Still he had to be smart about this, the speed on that kick Gwynevere landed on him was proof enough she was fast.

Etch decided to gather a smoke bomb from his pouch, and throw it onto the floor. Being 5 meters away from Gwynevere, it easily would catch her in the smoke. He would then lead off with throwing two shurikens towards her previous direction with one shuriken in his right and the other in his left. He would release them in a X direction, crossing his arms. After releasing these shuriken, Etch would look around and backing away slowly, towards the outskirts of the smoke, still in a combat stance, and aware she could be behind him at any time. Etch decided to also grab a kunai from his weapon pouch and held it in his hand, to use as a weapon against his enemy. In this smoke, it would be difficult to find each other, and he wanted to keep it that way a little longer. In any case, he would be prepared to enter close quarter combat, and also was waiting to unless his Leaf Whirlwind if the time called for it. He was even ready to use his mark seal in order to track Gwynevere at any moment when she came close. By then he was gaining his senses again and thinking carefully, he was not trying to use his Sage Transformation before the tournament.

Hahaha! Trying to throw smoke at a fire? Talk about throwing shadows. Because Gwyn was a first flame type of lady she was immune to smoke, which isn't very clear what that means but at the very least she'd not affected by breathing it in. And at the max she can see through it. Either way she wasn't terribly phased by it. She was however phased when shuriken cam ripping through the smoke and through her arm running a gash from her wrist to the elbow. A stream of fire as well as blood came pouting out and Gwyn bit her lips. Ouch. She hadn't been expecting that. So he wanted to play like that eh? Well that was fine. Gwyn was up for some... dirty dancing.

She formed two hand seals out and from her mouth, and the cloud of smoke came a fire ball! Directly at Etch. It zoomed quickly towards the man, and roared as it did. If it hit him it would only produce enough power to singe a few hairs and send him flying across the field. But still, that was one scary fire ball. Two meters wide.

Well damn. This backfired. One cut turned into a fireball, dammit. Etch had to think quick. He wasn't expected Gwynevere to retaliate so quickly, and to summon a two meter fireball, homing in on him the same second. Quick thinking was required, he was trying not to get hit by a massive ball of fire. The thing looked huge and scary. Etch went back to his Academy training, and sought upon the Clone Jutsu to help. Casting three hand seals flimsy and quick to the point of fearing for his life, Etch summoned a clone in front of him, and began to run to the left of himself. Etch barely got of the way while the fireball impacted the clone, sending it flying. It also managed to scorch the back of Etch, making a mention able sting on his back for awhile. Still, Etch came out with his life, and was fine with it.

Landing 4 meters to the left of the impact, he had to get a move on. The woman was obviously quite skilled in Ninjutsu. Being a Genin and all, Etch wasn't expected her to be all talented in anything else, he really hoped so. For this reason, Etch decided to bring the fight to close combat. Still holding the kunai in his hand, Etch made a leap towards Gwynevere and prepared a dazzling Dynamic Entry, pointing his foot towards the woman's chest. This kick wasn't to just bring him to close quarters, or get him to top speed, but to really get back at the kick he received earlier. Etch realized from that fireball before hitting his back Gwynevere wasn't exactly trying to kill him, thank goodness for that. But it was still a spar, so Etch had to try. As he came close to Gwynevere, he devised a plan. If the kick landed, Etch would throw the Kunai in his right hand towards the left leg of Gwynevere, just enough to scrap the side of it and cause numbness. If she dodged however, he would land bent forward from the force of the kick he attempted at, and start at her with his kunai in his right hand, trying to tag Gwynevere with his kunai. At this point his anger has subsided, and he wasn't trying to hurt her at all. However, he was trying to win this spar, and get his first win in his Ninja Career.

Almost! Almost consumed by the fire. Gwyn snickered as the smoke cleared from the blow back of her fire ball. She was having a blast! She'd never had this much fun back in Shima. Though she did miss surfing. But she figured that she could fill that hole in her heart by lighting things on fire. If there was a more wholesome hobby for a girl to engage in she couldn't imagine. But she was letting herself get distracted, there was a fight going on.

She looked down at her gushing arm. Definitely didn't want something like that to happen again. There was a ninja with a kunai dancing around the field and she couldn't let her guard down. Especially with this kick that he prepping to launch into. Gwyn sighed. she wasn't terribly strong as a fighter. Physically at least. Infact she was pretty tosh when it came to physical stuff. That kick she'd landed on him earlier had been with all of her strength and he'd pretty much just shrugged it off. She also couldn't really take a hit either. That's why she had to just blow stuff up. The point being that there was no way she could take a hit from this kick he was coming in for.

Too fast to counter with a jutsu. Well there was that one jutsu... but that was hardly appropriate for the moment. There was however... The Fire Halberd. Yes that'd work.

Flame on!

Well Flame on even more.

The Veins in her muscles surged towards the surface of her body bulking up like inflated garden hoses. Her Chakra and Strength were greatly increased while under the effects of The Fire Halberd. Which meant!

Even with his dynamic kick she could keep up with Etch pretty well, she narrowly side stepped the kick and grabbed a hold of his leg out of mid air. Then with her newly enhanced strength she began to spin Etch around in a circle swinging him around by his head.

Well She tried to, When she put a lot of force down with her right arm, an anime spray of blood shot out from her arm up her open wound. Forcing her to let go with on arm. so rather than throwing him away at a high speed he slipped out of one of her arms, and she just ended up spinning him around slightly and dropping him down on the ground like a sack of potato's.

Woops.

She was so close to looking cool.

She let his leg go, and jumped back from her cupping her wounded arm with her hand. She possibly had more important things to attend at the moment, maybe she should just call the match, she was bleeding like a pig.

Etch was in quite the predicament. Or at least he thought he was. While being spinned around he was caught off guard by the abrupt stop and falling to the ground. Getting up and looking at Gwynevere, he saw her clutching her right arm in Pain.

Uh oh.

Etch didn't really know what to say. Maybe he didn't expect that the injury he inflicted earlier would need immediate attention. This definitely wasn't good. He wasn't really angry anymore, and was fine with helping her out, but that wasn't the problem. The issue at hand was that this woman was a bottle of unknown. Etch could call out to help her, and get presented with a nice fireball in the face for trying to help out. Even so, he knew this injury would cause issues in the future, and also make the spar not so fun anymore. It actually be bad, and filled with misery. Spars weren't supposed to be that way. " Hey uh, Gwynevere. We can stop the dance if you want. You seem like you need immediate assistance with the cut I caused." At this point Etch continued on carefully, not wanting to push a button which would erupt a volcano full of anger and madness. " This doesn't mean anyone lost though, just our dance will be postponed until you're all fixed up is all." Etch finished that with a nice friendly smile. He also knew to be prepared for the worst, so he still held his kunai in his hand, and decided to summon another Clone just in case things got worst then he had hoped. He was kinda in hopes the spar would end here, Etch didn't want to cause Gwynevere any pain then needed. The dance they just conducted made him feel like they were strengthened in friendship through each others fist.

Gwynevere managed to smile through the pain and nodded her head. It was a generous offer that much was sure. She took her hand away from her arm and looked to her blood covered palm. Yikes. It was going to need a few stitches it looked like. "I suppose we'll just have to finish our tango at the tournament huh?"

She shrugged and held her arm up above her heart so she didn't bleed out on the training field. That would be embarrassing. "Now If you'll excuse me I think I'll go find a hospital before my arm falls off."

Etch proceeded with a slight nervous chuckle after the remark on having to fight in the Tournament. Shit. I wonder if she holds grudges. Etch knew he was gonna have to train for this tournament, and there will be no holding back agaisnt him during it. He nodded at her needed leave of absence and waved her off, thinking about the future at hand in the tournament.

The tournament was gonna be fun. Etch was able to hide his sage transformation today, and he got a little experience in on fighting. He wouldn't call this a win, but a good thing to remember. After the fight he felt extremely tired, not knowing what else to do. Etch decided to go drifting around the Training grounds, leaving his mind blank and just covering the land at hand. During this time he was allowing to let flow his events from today. Meeting Gwynevere, the tournament talk, his first battle, and cutting Gwynevere during the time. It felt good to land a blow on his opponent, and he also felt sorta proud about it. Etch also was just thinking about the tournament. Oh the tournament, its going to be pretty wild. Just one of the contestants he had to face today, soon hes going to be facing a lot more, a full range of different abilities and skill. He had his own secret weapon however, one that was going to shock the arena. He was planning to let it loose when he was in a pickle there, or at least he assumed much. Etch found no reason to do so if it was going to be a easy battle. After the review for the day, Etch began to walk home, tired and beat from the whole day together.
