Training, Open, No Killing
Wed Dec 23, 2015 8:57 pm
Zakary went to the training grounds, intending on learning his transformation jutsu. He would need a partner to critique him eventually. Being alone for too long was generally unpleasant on it's own, but paired with him having to exert effort it grew quite a bit more unpleasant. Maybe he should find one, he'd need to eventually? No, he wasn't willing to make the extra step. Instead, he'd hope someone showed up or he'd find someone later. As he started to shift his skin tone after performing the hand seals for transformation jutsu, Zakary wondered if he could acquire a permanent transformation. It'd be a neat touch to have two different eye colors. He felt like his eyes were really plain, and he had nothing distinguishing. Maybe he would be easy to remember him after he learned how to manipulate shadows. His focus left, and he realized his skin started to turn a more sickly green. Zakary quickly corrected it, and started to focus. It was mostly difficult solely because he didn't like to stay on one topic. His current end goal was to appear as someone difficult to mimic, probably someone really old. Before he got to that point, he would just modify things like his hair color, eye color, and practice clothes. Because of his scatter brained nature, this would help him keep from procrastinating, and instead actually accomplish something. That's why he usually kept around adults who had no problem yelling at him to keep him on topic.

As Jack arrived at the training grounds for his daily training, he noticed someone was already there, and what he was practicing seemed very familiar. Now he remembered, it was like him a week ago, practicing transformation jutsu so he could become a genin. As he got closer, he noticed the ninja didn't seem to pay too much attention, not noticing Jack, or the fact that he was turning himself green. Although the kid was making progress, Jack knew from experience that having a more experienced shinobi to help you learn was invaluable. He decided he would help the kid learn his basic jutsu so he could become a genin. For now though, he would simply sit and observe his skill and ability to correct himself, to decide where he would start with the training. So he watched, looking at the kid performing transformation jutsu over and over again, noticing his flaws and successes. Maybe this could be like him and Ita. That thought caused a small smile to appear on his face, but not for long, as he didn't like to show emotion to people, especially not those he did not know as friends.

After failing to imitate another person's skin tone again, he sighed. This time, at least, he knew that it wasn't purely his fault. Zakary would need to work out how to run the jutsu as a mental subroutine so as to avoid getting distracted as he just had by the Hyuuga. "What's up?" He'd keep his statement brief because it typically disallowed him from being rude. Of course, it was aggravating to be distracted while learning a new jutsu, but he took it in stride. Dealing with distractions was his main problem with the technique at hand anyway, so he should practice dealing with them. He took a moment to scan the new person. He was easily denoted as a Hyuuga by his eyes and clothing. He seemed a bit gray on an emotional spectrum. Zakary couldn't predict him yet, he'd need to learn more about this Genin to properly place him.

As the ninja academy student looked him over, he did the same to the student. Black hair, normal clothes, doesn't seem like anything special. " I was coming up here for my daily training, but then I found you here, which is different than usual, which is no one else being up here. I noticed you were here and that you were struggling with that jutsu, which I know how to do." Jack stopped for a moment. This kid was looking kind of familiar, Like he had seen him before. Nevermind that, " I was thinking I could help you out with it, and in return, you owe me. No payment, nothing like that, just a favor. Deal?" As he awaited the boys reply, he thought about what he would call in the favor for. Probably something simple, but nothing too simple, more than fetching cereal, but less than killing a bandit group. Maybe something like setting a trap. Yeah, that would be nice.

"Alright, deal. We'll talk out the rest later. I need help concentrating on it without being distracted. Every time I try to focus, I get distracted by a thought. Advice? Breathing techniques, happy place, empty your mind? What's your name, anyway?" Zakary clearly demonstrated his problem in his talking by jumping between subjects. He performed the hand seals again, and started to change himself to look like the one facing him. They had almost the same skin tone, so he ignored that. The same went for hair, but that took some modification of form. It was the simplest detail. Instead of trying to copy every detail of his outfit, instead Zakary used a typical Hyuuga robe. He couldn't get those eyes right either, they turned out too blue. The most difficult thing to copy was his face. How did anyone do that without direct eye contact? Even staring at his intended target, he still could feel that it wasn't right. It was still too similar to Zakary's own. His transformation would break as soon as Jack spoke.

" I don't have too much advice on that part, as my mind can naturally focus on many things. As for my name, Its Jack Hyuuga, and your eyes are too blue, try to think of them as blank, every feature should have a good descriptive word. My eyes are neutral, blank, and my face is serious, the robe is good though." Jack said as he studied the kids copy of himself, " Your name?" Jack asked the kid, liking him less for his jumpy ADHD style personality but liking him because of his will to improve. "Also, in your case, I would suggest emptying your mind, since it seems like it would be full of unimportant things, and those distract you." That favor should be worth something, so he gave the kid a demonstration. He performed the handsigns and transformed into a perfect copy of the kid, down to the length of his fingernails. "This is the accuracy you should go for, that way you can pass and become a genin quickly, like me."

Zakary let out a big sigh, seeing himself be easily bested in this. He was able to completely ignore what would be taken as an insult on the contents of his mind because of his shame. After drawing another breath to refill his lungs, he released it to try and empty his mind as he was directed. He took another mental snapshot of Jack, using it as the template for his transformation. Though the appearance of the transformation was near perfection he knew that maintaining it under duress would be impossible. Slowly, he moved out of the recesses of his mind, lessening the amount of effort he'd have to put into keeping it up. He now had an amazing replica of the male he was learning from. It would be easily gotten rid of, but it could do his job. He released his transformation, and gave a small bow. It was the most respect he showed anyone other than his clan's elders or the Hokage. "Thank you, and my name is Zakary. I will be ready for the favor I owe at almost any time. Though I don't wish to trouble you too much more, do you think you could meet me here tomorrow at the same time? I would enjoy some assistance in learning clone jutsu." Zakary was truly grateful for the help he'd been given by a total stranger. It was unusual for him, and he actually hoped that he could keep the person around as an ally.

Jack was glad to see that his assistance had helped the academy student, and was glad that he had earned a favor in the process. Maybe him and the boy could even end up on the same team, if he graduated fast enough. " I may be able to meet you here tomorrow, but it will have the same price as today did for me to teach you clone jutsu. I hope that we will meet again, and with that, I bid you farewell" Jack finished as he began to walk away from the training ground. An overall productive day, perhaps less physically productive than his usual training, but more productive in the fact he had another ally and that ally owed him a favor. Zakary Nara, he would remember that, right next to Ita in his mind.

After his rare display of gratitude, Zakary gave a small two fingered wave and started to head home. He wondered what in particular he'd end up having to do for the help he may not have needed, but stopped caring halfway home. It wouldn't be too bad, considering that Jack was an alright person and may even become a friend. What started to primarily bother him was that he would need to learn some of his clan's jutsu. He'd figure out someone to train him, but until he did it would wear on his mind. Zakary considered that he may be way more eager than he should, but he was becoming a ninja now. Wasn't he supposed to learn his clan's jutsu? Plus, the potential for pranks becomes much greater when one can control shadows. But if he were becoming a ninja, he'd have to stop pranks as well! Zakary sighed again as he reached his home. This wasn't going to be as fun as he'd hoped, but he'd make some time for fun.
