Evil Doers Make Good Pin Cushions! (P, NK)
Mon Feb 08, 2016 3:50 pm
Well, trials by fire were more entertaining than one might have imagined. Given that Ryusei was attempting to paralyze charging thieves in the city of Kirigakure in the blink of an eye, using a jutsu he had never used before, this was a safe assumption for many.
He managed to slow down the bandit, who sadly was only mildly slower than Ryusei for all his training. Hopefully Ryusei would become stronger later though and that would not be an issue. The bandit was marginally slowed down, and his annoyance translated into a brief pause to unleash cursing that would peel paint. It was cut off though when he was punched in the throat. the bandit toppled, and Ryusei disposed of the body, by dropping it in the ocean. Hopefully this did not lead to trouble later.
Walking along as if this was normal, he swung by a street vendor for a warm burger that had not been seen too long under the heat lamps. While munching away he practiced freezing pets in their tracks, by sending blasts of his chakra out all at once.

Momo had just finished doing another quest if you could even call it that. The quests she had been recent assigned had been nothing more than mere chores. She hoped in the future she could do something a bit more interesting to say the least. Now that she was a genin, she felt that she could take on more responsibility and didn’t want to be bothered with things that academy students could easily be doing. Regardless, it came with the rank and she was new so she had to start somewhere.
The day was dragging on and Momo had found herself at a local food vendor. She was hungry and only had a little money to spare. She was able to get the vendor to give her a free burger by using her charm. While she was eating she noticed a man with blonde hair and a scare on his face. She tried not to look at him too much, but when he started paying a weird amount of attention towards some of the animals about, it intrigued her. For some reason, the animals he was particularly paying attention to would freeze in their tracks. Were they scared? For some reason Momo couldn’t help observing him. She was more interested in his abilities than his looks.
It was probably apparent at his point that she was blatantly staring at him and she figured she would just confront him about it. If he wasn’t a shinobi, then it would be Momo’s duty to make sure that a sketchy person terrorizing poor animals wasn’t running around the streets right? Although she was pretty interested in the sadistic ability to freeze people or animals in their tracks.
Momo put down her burger and simply walked away from it right towards the man with the blond hair, tapping him on the back of the shoulder.
“Excuse me, what are you doing to those animals?”
Momo would say, trying to be confident because she was a shinobi.

(inb4 killed by Nomo for replying to you first)
At first, he thought it was nothing. But after a while, Ryusei had the prickly feeling that someone was watching him. Nothing happened, at first anyway, so he continued practicing the Temporary Paralysis technique on the animals. At least he was not hurting them, but as he did not have physical clones he could practice on, he could hardly go up to a random person, and ask them to let him paralyze them right? Then again, some of those bandits could probably suffice, but he doubted they would come quietly, and that could prove troublesome after a while.
Speaking of which… between the different momentary paralysis attempts he pulled off, he found some blood spatters from earlier, apparently the bandit had coughed up a little bit of fluid before expiring.
It was at this point that the source of the un-nerving staring came up to talk to him.
Distracted a little at first, despite the sudden tapping on his shoulder, due to his efforts with trying to finish sending his chakra to paralyze a squirrel on the ground by a tree, Ryusei replied, at first a bit off topic. “The squirrels are so lively here, they could be miniature ninjas….”
Then he realized that she was likely asking him a serious question. Nobody else had happened to seem to really notice what he was up to, frankly. This young gal was paying some pretty good attention.
Looking over her shoulder, which was not hard due to the height difference, and making a minor assumption about her prior occupation given the angle from which he had been approached… “It’s safe to finish your meal, I’m only a little weird, not a full blown psycho.” This being said with a noticeable but not overtly loud chuckle. “Say, what do you think of the burgers here? They seem to be made so much better than in my homeland.”
He ran out of animals now, animals of the traditional sense anyway.
He took aim at a small fly in the air, as it hovered towards him. Concentrating his chakra, he stealthily put his hand about six inches below the fly’s path, and when it was just over his hand, he let loose. The fly dropped, and landed on his hand, and seemed more than a little dazed. Releasing the fly, he carefully set it down on a nearby table and hoped nobody smacked it out of spite.
“Yeah, so I’m training this here paralyzing jutsu. I don’t have functioning clones I could train on instead, sadly, and I don’t think most people would be particularly pleased either, so I’m just pausing people in their tracks. At some point for giggles I might practice on predators in the wild, but only if they look well fed.”
He paused for a bit. Then he continued, still in an amiable tone. “What about you? What’s your story?”

Momo listened to what he had to say to her. The ‘paralyzing jutsu’? Momo thought. Sounds interesting. Since Momo had left the academy, she hadn’t really spent anytime training jutsu besides the basics ones she already knew. So obviously she had some capability. Momo decided she would ask him how to do such a technique. Before she got the chance to ask him, he spoke.
“What about you? What’s your story?” The man with blond hair said to her.
That’s a peculiar question Momo thought. It made her lose her focus on him and kind of look past him thinking of what her past was. Sad to say the least, but what happened was necessary for her to achiever her current desires. Which at the moment, was becoming something. She needed to hoan her strengths and begin improving if she wanted to get anywhere. Momo decided to say something so she wouldn’t sound rude. Her attention again returning to the man.
“My past?” Momo would say, “It’s nothing interesting. How’d you get that scar on your face?”
Momo would listen to what the blond man had to say before asking her next question.
“Do you think you could tell me how to do that jutsu you were talking about earlier? The paralysis one?”

"Your parents must have been pretty smart so their daughter is quite observant." Ryusei flashed a slightly impish grin.
"Well, I think I'm ok now, but can you keep a secret?" His words were a little more hushed now, he sounded jovial still, but there was an added tension in his voice that would not have been present before, and his smile faded slightly. If anything, the smile in his eyes from before faded a little and he looked sad momentarily, a truly rare expression for this young fella.
His voice picking up again, he replied to her second question. "I'm studying this jutsu called the 'Temporary Paralysis Technique' which is kind of explanatory. I'm sure there are better ways of accomplishing the task, but I am doing it the brute force method - gathering up a bunch of chakra, and then channeling it through my body towards an intended target. It does not work very far away but a moment's hesitation could be quite crucial in a fight."
"Say, you look pretty young, are you still a student at the Academy?"
Ryusei concentrated his chakra again, and looked around for a good target. A bird was approaching one of the other customers of the burger shop, stealthily. Its attempt to steal the burger that was being cooked was thwarted by a momentary paralysis, long enough for a cat to notice the cat.... Fortunately, he had a bit of spare chakra left over, and the cat was paused just long enough for the bird to escape. He smiled a little, the vendor looked a little befuddled at the strange behavior of both the bird and the cat, both of which had been paused just inches from their targets.

(sorry but looks like you are too busy/not interested atm, will return later if you like)
Well, this girl seemed to have quieted down a bit.
A lot in fact.
So much so it looked like Ryusei was almost on his own, sadly.
“See you later.”
He would walk off into the streets again, practicing the temporary paralysis tech on more unsuspecting little insects.
