Don't Drown(P. Yen.)
Thu Feb 18, 2016 2:40 pm
What a glorious day. After what felt like forever, Ita was finally a Chuunin. Although Ita had an extra pep in his step today, he wasn’t complacent at all. This was only the beginning. Speaking of beginnings, Ita was on his way to meet his Genin squad leader, Yen for some one on one training near a small river by the training grounds. Even though they were technically the same rank, Yen still possessed much wisdom over Ita, and it was never beneath Ita to seek out help, especially when it pertained to such an important matter as this. Today, Ita and Yen were going to be working on seeing if Ita was capable of performing water style jutsu, completing his three element cycle. Ita had been awake all night thinking of the possibilities, combining water with lightning, or maybe even water with fire some day? Regardless, those thoughts were a little outlandish and Ita figured he probably should get ahead of himself.
Ita was wearing a grey shirt and black pants along with black sandals. He also had a katana with him this time, strapped about his waist. It was a gift to him after becoming a Chuunin. Along with all that, Ita possessed two ninja weapon pouches containing various materials and ninja tools. Lastly, Ita was sporting his Konoha head band, strapped about a belt on his waist, of course.
Ita decided to show up a little extra early today. He didn’t mean to. He was just excited to begin learning, although Yen’s long speech’s sometimes confused him, but ITa figured such a lesson won’t be nearly as bad has his previous. Ita found a nice place near the side of the river where there was a sizeable rock with a flat surface where he could sit on and ponder while looking at the running water besides him. There was no river bank, just grass all the way. Ita observe red the reflection of his face in the water, reflecting over his past experiences. Was this the direction he wanted to continue to journey in? Did this feel right? It did for now and ITa would continue to believe it.

Yen would note that with a huge smile he awoke. Indeed both eyes. Well that was quiet a development naturally as it felt great to actually see out the left eye and with a chuckle yen got ready for his daily activities. Indeed a great day to work and instruct as the past several weeks lacking a left eye indeed wizened up the aburame as he with a smile after getting ready and a quick kiss to hota and his two children yen headed out. Now noting that indeed there were a few more chuninn as the few that passed a good challenging mission was the show of a good start. Now yen had an tricky situation as Ita had promoted but that never stops the learning process. It was amusing in fact as yen noted.
Arriving a little after ita yen observed the boy abit as he noted him staring at the water it was quiet the sight. Perhaps the boy actually took yens advice at last to remain calm and soak in all he can learn. Failure never was far off either as yen approached at last clearly his chakra uncloaked as yen had not yet tapped into hiding his signature as of now because he didn't see a reason to not be transparent. Surely by now ita would understand as well how strong his chakra was of now as yen spoke up. "Congratulations ita you did well. Now you are a chuninn like me. I'm impressed and further proud. Your skills are indeed at a high level. But that still doesn't prevent you from not training. You have to work thrice as hard and thrice as well. Teach like me and pass on experience, missions and errands, even gate authority are in your hands my friend. But you should understand what I mean by my last lesson. It's more then the merits of rank, and gain of authority. You should protect and give life at hand with the grace of our village."
Yen stated as he gazed at the new chuninn quietly.

Ita continued to stare into the water. Watching as fish or other organisms would create small ripples by surfacing. Today was peaceful and Ita appeared to be enjoying it. Ita could now sense a familiar chakra presence appear near him. Ita could tell right away who it was by their impressive pool of chakra. Yen. Ita had turned out to be quiet an impressive Sensory ninja. Maybe it ran in his blood. Ita was reflecting his accomplishments and trying to understand his goals before Yen broke his concentration. Ita would lift his head up from his daze and turn it towards his friend Yen. Yen would then speak, at first he was congratulating him on becoming a Chuunin. It was a big step for Ita. Yen then went on to tell him that this only meant that he had to work harder and he had more responsibilities. That was fine. Ita didn’t mind it at all. Finally he ended with that Ita had to always remember to give his life for his village.
That part hit Ita strange. Although it sounded like something any high ranking shinobi should say to those younger than them about their village. It was natural to build patriotism. But, did Ita really bare such emotions? To anyone who might question it, Ita would appear as loyal as could be; a nice boy who had gone through the academy and the ranks of genin with no problem, doing whatever was asked of him and proving to be a pretty valuable asset of the village by teaching other ninja and so forth. Ita didn’t let it bother him long enough to make Yen’s and his experience awkward and Ita replied rather quickly with reassuring words that he understood Yen’s wisdom.
Ita stood up to greet his comrade. “Thanks Yen. It means a lot.” Ita would say before raising his right hand to the back of his head like he usually did and scratching it while continuing to speak, “But I’ll never be as smart or strong as you.” Ita would say laughing. “and I’ll do my best to protect our home. It’s weird to think as us as equals, but you’ll always be my mentor. I’ve still got a lot to learn, and speaking of learning. Now that I am a Chuunin, I want to really press my limits and see if I could learn a new element. I’ve noticed I have a weird connectivity to water and since I possess lightning style I figured it would be a great fit. And since you know water style, who better to ask? So what do you say, Sensai?”
Ita would finish, requesting Yen to train him in the art.

a chuckle escaped yen as he listened to itas request. Indeed he posessed perhaps two or more elements as uchiha also were notable for their fire affinity as well as yen shook his head. "Well what do you know about water ita? What is it that makes water a acheiveable element? These are questions that you must always ask before learning. What is the element and how it reflects on you. This all mixes with your personality as each element is neither aggressive nor passive, it varies how you use it. If I asked you what makes water move what is the awnser?"
Yen would ask ita as he knelt down next to ita and grasped a bit of the water as it with a flux of his chakra clung to his hand. "Ebb and flow. Water has a mystery you must master before you can use it. So while I quiz you I have a tiny task for you to do. Your goal is to make this pond into a cube of water. It should be simple enough. Which is why you must cut the cube of water and split it in half making two cubes of water equally. That's your challenge today." Yen addressed with a smile to ita.
To shape and make water required an adapt hand but also a strong mind. The clarity of a user depends on their skill this yen knew was what made a water jutsu user either effective or not as strong. .

“Well what do you know about water Ita? What makes water a achievable element? These are questions that you must always ask before learning.”
Ita contemplated Yen’s words for a few moments before responding. ‘What do I know about water?’ Ita thought to himself. Well for starters, Ita had given his request some thought before getting to such a conclusion. Obviously it was important for someone to do such. Acting blindly wasn’t rational, and Ita, for the most part, was a rational thinker. So what did he know about water? Ita spoke to his comrade in a soft, but knowledgeable voice, one that would make perceive the passion behind his words.
“Well, water itself has definite volume, but not shape. Meaning the uses for it beyond what it is capable of is endless and is based mostly off how creative the user is.” The words would roll off Ita’s tongue in an elegant sort of way, his voice a dream.
“So to answer your question, it’s not how water moves; because it is always moving. Water is continuously moving. That is was makes it so magnificent. It’s up to my discretion how to use it. I just need to utilize my chakra to allow me to shape it. That’s what makes water so important. Unlike wind, fire, and lightning; which are hard to actually control their shape, water is more moldable.”
Ita would then listen to Yen as he continued,
“Ebb and flow. Water has a mystery you must master before you can use it. So while I quiz you I have a tiny task for you to do. Your goal is to make this pond into a cube of water. It should be simple enough. Which is why you must cut the cube of water and split it in half making two cubes of water equally. That’s your challenge today.”
Upon hearing what Yen had to say, It kind of applied to what Ita had already said. The hard part about this challenge would be Ita using his chakra on a foreign nature to form it. What was easy though, was that ITa already understood that water itself had an indefinite shape and by understanding that it was easily shapeable and that it was constantly flowing was pertant to what Ita had to accomplish.
Without any more words, Ita walked to the edge of the water; again examining his reflection in the water while thinking deeply so he could try and get a grasp on what he was trying to do. Ita allowed his powerful chakra to leak from his body and into the pond. This could be seen at this point due to how powerful Ita’s chakra was. It leaked into the pond and ITa extended his hands outwards. He then closed his eyes and tilted his head downwards slightly. Focusing his chakra infrused with the ponds water, he raised his hands as a conductor of his chakra and tried to raise the water from it. During the first few attempts the water rose from the pond with some struggle, but after a few moments suspended in the air it collapsed back. After a lengthy amount of time Ita was able to suspend the water in the air. Luckily, his fellow comrade was pretty patient; which was usually a trait of someone so knowledgeable. Ita was lucky to have him. Now that Ita was able to suspended the water in the air, he was taxed with the task of having to form it into a cube. Simple enough? No. Ita concentrated on the continuous flow of the water. This was key to what he had to do. After another extensive amount of time he was able to form the body of water into the shape of a cube, allowing his chakra to regulate the flow of water. Ita was almost impressed with himself, although he was drenched in his own sweat after utilizing such an extensive amount of chakra. Now he must split them? Yen really had a weird way of doing things, but they worked so ITa never questioned him. Aften another extensive amount of time, Ita was able to split the body of water into two perfect cubes while suspended in the air. This proved to be one of the most difficult tasks ITa had done yet. It required the constant control of circulation of water in both cubes and an absolute calm and focused mind set. Unlike the destructive force behind fire, water was very different and required Ita to work in a different way. Once Ita saw that Yen was satisfied he set them back into their place, recreating the pond. Ita panted and looked towards Yen to see what he further had to say or if he had anymore intel on the element.

very impressive. yen thought as he observed the boy work and focus the element. indeed it was a fair amount of work for ita but he was impressed by his focus and work. The cube part was quiet amusing and yet yen noted something. he's just going through the motions. An element requires one to embody the element fully. A fire ball to engulf another,a lightning bolt to pierce the world. Water requires him to ebb and flow with the element. Not take it as a chore for a jutsu. yen thought as he observed ita work the element with a slow nodd yen noted his process and thought for a moment.
Speaking up yen went simple and small here as this was an important part. "Ita how did you feel when you lifted the water?" Was all yen asked as he turned away and took a few steps back so he could be in a distance from ita. it's more then power gain and use. It's a force one must come to terms with and cannot control. They must obey each element that flows through them yen thought as he awaited itas awnser

Ita had panted lightly before straightening his back and whipping the sweat from his brow. Ita then turned to Yen to see how he would react. A nod. Just a nod? Ita had lifted a pond and turned it into a cube. He had never even knew he could do such a thing. Still, Yen was not shaking his head, but Ita could tell it was still not good enough. He was missing something important here, but what was it. Was it something that ITa had to decode? Even though Yen didn’t even give a lengthy speech which required Ita to try and decipher. This time Yen was precise and right to the point. Instead of lecturing, all Yen simply said was “Ita how did you feel when you lifted the water?” How did I feel? Ita thought to himself. Ita spoke up to his teacher, “Heavy. Very heavy.” Upon answering Yen’s question, Ita kind of answered his own. Was it supposed to be heavy? Was Ita able to do what he did due to his immense amount of chakra? Most likely. He was capable of controlling the element with just his pure chakra, but did not truly understand how it worked. Let’s give it another try.
Without any further discussion, ITa turned to the water one more. This time he examined it. Watched it. He then focused his chakra into the pond, allowing it to leak from his body. This was one of the first times Ita’s chakra had shown itself, It was almost menacing. A dark purple, almost black. It leaked into the pond. Ita then, instead of making decise motions with his hands as he had done before, he tried to mimic the water, moving his arms and hands just as the water would move. Ebb and flow. Ebb and flow, moving his arms back and forth in fluid motions. This time Ita started from the bottom and allowed his hand to make a circular motion, moving his limbs in different speeds at different parts of the cycle. This time, unlike the last where he simply raised the water. The water began ti spiral up in a tornado sort of way moving in a circle motion where the pool of water would be allocating. (A tornado of water leading to where the body of water would eventually end up.) The water then took a circular shape with constant flow, Ita would then focus his chakra to casually shape the water, continuing his fluid limb motion. Ita was finally starting to figure something out or so he thought. This time ita felt more in control of the water than he had before. It wasn’t as heavy. Ita then allowed the water to take its more nature form and flow back down into the empty hole in the ground filling it in an almost more natural way then just dropping it before. ITa panted and then turned his attention towards Yen for further insight.

exactly ita yen thought as the boy had a perplexed look to his simplicity. And with much inner joy he noted that ita had no questioned any further and continued to work on it. This time he actually focused and payed attention to the water. The fact that his chakra was just as great as his own was impressive but many high level shinobi who were jutsu orientated had high levels of chakra. Yet very few had yens naturally volume of chakra in that matter unless kage of course. Yet yen nodded as ita merged his chakra with the water. good good, you are getting it now! yen thought to himself as he watched ita once more due to his chakra now actually synchronizing with the element was making progress. The same task was done and yen chuckled now aloud as he was pleased.
"So now you see what is the difference ita? Explain what is the difference and the mystery behind the water element?" Yen asked him now pleased and impressed with itas work despite one failure it was a well done second attempt. And note worthy. Perhaps ita could learn some of the techniques he once used before taking a different path?. In due time of course but techniques meant nothing compared to fundamentals.

Ita was now looking at Yen who seemed very pleased. Yen spoke and Ita listened. “So now you see what is the difference Ita? Explain what is the difference and the mystery behind the water element?” Ita knew exactly how to answer the question after doing what he had done, though it might not be the correct answer it was the one that Ita provided. Ita spoke to his Sensai, “Well, at first I tried to just move the water through brute strength. It felt almost.. well unnatural. After examining how the water flow it kinda all clicked. I realized I was trying too hard to make the water something it wasn’t. Instead of forcing it, I kind of just went with the flow and allowed the water to move in its natural form. I realize that what is so powerful about water is not its shape, but its flow of mass. If propelled fast enough it can be truly deadly. If that’s what its purpose is that is.” Ita took a deep breath and then continued, looking Yen in the eye, “So to answer your question, the mystery behind water isn’t that much of a mystery at all. It’s simple. Instead of trying to control it, just go with the flow. Water moves a certain way, no point in trying to change it.”

Yen nodded and snapped his fingers as he spoke " exactly. like any element forced and trying to make it yours. It never works. You are pressing against a force that is milinia older then your ancestors. And further your awnser is correct but there is a deeper level one must understand as a shinobi who uses water. Water is a primal element. As a primal element it's frightening and grand. But not in a way you typically expect. You see the mere fact that water is the esscence of life. It's life's blood, and flows within us all. It's in the air we breath we consume it for nourishment, we provide it for the weary and defeated. Water is never restricted nor can it truely be restricted. It will out last us and forever flow on. That is water. Its not some weapon as you are the one who manipulate your chakra you must work endlessly to improve your connection with the elements. And understand the full spectrum in which they maintain."
Yen spoke as he patted ita on his shoulder and awaited his response
