Can't Sleep After Supper (Solo, NK)
Thu Feb 25, 2016 10:35 pm
Yumi finished her plate and placed her chopsticks down. Her mother had prepared a wonderful meal which consisted of lo mein noodles mixed with various vegetables and strips of pork, and served with a rice ball wrapped in seaweed. The meal was waiting for her as soon as she had got home. She had stayed at the academy after class to practice accuracy throwing. Yumi was tired and her belly was now full, but Yumi felt the urge to practice a ninjutsu her instructor was teaching them. The young academy student excused herself from her parent's table and went to her room.
”Thanks, mom. As always your food is the best," Yumi told her mother as she stepped out of the kitchen.
Yumi grabbed her academy textbook and her notes and sat down on her bed. Yumi sat with her books upon her lap and undid the ribbon that held up her long, brown hair. It tumbled down upon her shoulders and back.
There, much better, Yumi thought as she shook out her hair. Now, where was I?
Yumi open up her book to the ninjutsu section and stuck a scrap piece of paper between the pages that showed pictures of the hand seals. Next Yumi flipped threw her book and found the technique she wanted – the clone technique. Yumi placed her book beside her and got thumbed through her notebook. Yumi's notes were vague at best, they were mostly filled with doodles and quick sketches. They did mention the hand seals and which order they were suppose to be signed in – ram, snake, tiger.
Bleh, this jutsu has a hard one, the young ninja frowned.
Ram. Ram was a difficult hand seal to sign. It was hard to do quickly. Tiger was also a difficult hand seal, but because it was after snake, it was manageable. Yumi practiced signing the hand seals at a very slow pace to begin with. During each seal, she would pause to look at her textbook to make sure she held her hands in the right way.
Ram, snake, tiger. Ram, snake, tiger. Okay, I can do this.
Yumi sat up off of her bed. She would mold her chakra this time. This time she would try to preform the jutsu. Yumi placed her hands together and began to form the ram seal. For a split moment the young girl fumbled and her left middle finger slipped. Trying to panic, Yumi corrected and hand seal was made. Next Yumi clasped her hands together to preform the snake seal. Yumi nailed the second seal and continued bringing her pointer fingers up to make the final seal, the tiger seal.
Clone Jutsu, the young student muttered.
In a puff of smoke Yumi was standing in front of another version of herself. But something didn't look quite right. Yumi's copied face looked as if it were askew, like she had ran smack into a wall. Yumi's copied limbs did not seem like they moved correctly either. Her copied self had arms and legs that moved like rice noodles!
”Waaah!” Yumi screamed upon looking at her created self. After a few moments the girl calmed herself down and soon her lips curled into a sassy smirk. ”You're not suppose to look like that at all! Hee, hee, go 'Other Me,' go and present yourself to our parents. They will be ever so thrilled!”
The freakish copied bowed and marched right off out of Yumi's bedroom. Yumi took her place by her bedroom door and listened for her parents' reaction. Though flawed in her creation, Yumi was able to make a clone of herself. It was going to take a lot more practice to make it perfect, but Yumi had taken her first steps in becoming a kunoichi of legend.
