Day 2 [NK]

As Pein had made a significant dent in his training, he had found himself in quite the predicament. Being new to Hoshigakure and just recently being recognized by the village as a shinobi, Pein was confused. He did not know what to do here. With no home, ryo, friends or even knowledge of the village, Pein had no place to go. And so he would wander around Hoshigakure in search of somewhere to lay his head for the night. As he walked about the village, he stopped in his tracks as he came across quite a beautiful sight. The way the night sky was lit up by the moon and stars let the water underneath it reflect that illumination. In front of all of this natural beauty was an alluring gazebo. Realizing it was probably the best he would find at such a late hour, he walked towards his. His boots clanked against the wooden pathway, thus causing a faint echo to be carried across the nearby body of water. As he got closer to the gazebo, the echo would grow louder until it would suddenly stop.

Pein now stood in the gazebo. He dropped to his bottom then laid down on his back. He focused his eyes on the stars until they would begin to grow heavy and he would drift off. His eyes shut tight and his dreams began to roam. Pein would dream of nothing but his childhood: what it had been like in Yukikagure when he was growing up. He had missed it, so much so that he dreamed about it. Hoshigakure was not the same, it seemed unwelcoming to him and all he could think about was leaving.

His dreams continued as the time passed by. Hours passed by as the sun rose and likely there would be civilian traffic passing by the water gardens in the morning. Yet Pein would remain asleep. After all the traveling he had followed by the awakening of his wind element and the progress he made with his ice, he needed the rest. But it would likely be an unorthodox sighting for a passerby to notice a sleeping shinobi sprawled out upon the gazebo floor.

Kenshin would be walking home from the training grounds with a small yet content smile plastered on his face, he had spent the majority of the day training and to him that was a day well spent, since he had first arrived in Hoshi his strength had increased by leaps and bounds yet he was still not satisfied with his level of power. Right now though he was on his way to Gazebo that was found in the large water garden by the training grounds, he didn't know why but recently he been finding himself drawn to the place, it wasn't like the place held anything special that would help him get stronger, in fact he usually just found himself sitting down and meditating. As he approached the Gazebo he would feel 2 chakra signatures right where the Gazebo was, something that got a small sigh from the silver haired teen, he considered simply turning around and going home to meditate but in the end decided against it, the simple reason being he could feel that one of the chakra signatures was actually quite large, not as large as his own reserves but he was able to feel that a little more chakra and their reserves would be evenly matched.

As he continued to approach the Gazebo he was eventually able to spot the silhouette of one person leaning over the downed silhouette of another, at first he wondered if the one leaning over the other had knocked him out or something, but in the end he figured that if he had knocked him out then he wouldn't have stuck around after to admire his work. He would be unable to hear anything that was said due to how far away from the two he was, but as he got closer he was able to see the standing one step over the one who was laying on the ground, something that he could only smirk at, as it had looked a lot like a sign of disrespect to Kenshin, and as he continued to approach the Gazebo he found himself wondering just how the situation would progress from this point

Lost in his dream state, he could hear the sound of an unfamiliar voice. In his dream, that voice would be matched with the face of one of the other residents from his village, although a less familiar one. However his dream started to essentially fade away, as the person in his face would be saying obscure things; something along the lines of being rude and lying down in public. Just then, Pein realized that he had been laying on the gazebo, sleeping and dreaming. Shocked, he woke up right then and there, shooting up almost as if he had been caught off guard. He made his way to his feet and looked upon the person who had awoken him. Slightly taller than himself and giving off a dark presence, Pein stared down the other shinobi. Apparently, he had deemed Pein as rude for sleeping on the gazebo. But Pein didn't have much of a choice, it was his second day here and knew no one, it seemed like the most out of the way area to fall asleep. Yet still, the shinobi of Hoshigakure found a way to make Pein feel unwelcome. 

He let out a heavy sigh as if he were disappointed in the village, but to be truthfully he didn't expect anything else. Just yesterday when he was training he had been ridiculed by the shinobi there due to his method of training. It seemed as if the people here weren't accepting of outsiders, at least that's how his experience was. But Pein didn't really care. He didn't care for Hoshigakure, nor did he care for the shinobi that lived in it. 

"Yeah...so?"


That was all he said back to the new person, in quite the nonchalant, uncaring tone. It truly didn't matter to Pein that he was disrespecting the village, for that was all the village seemed to show him. Slightly off in the distance he could see another shinobi approaching. Pein wondered if he was going to stop and harass him as well or if he were just a bystander looking to walk pass the gazebo.

As Atem began to walk passed the man with his pale hands in his pockets he would hear the shinobi say, "Yeah...so?" As if he were some sort of child. Atem looked back at the shinobi still lying down and began to speak. "Want to fight? It's not in my nature to keep explaining common generosity to those who do not listen. Although it is not generous to fight here either, but today I find myself in a bad mood so how would you like to test me?" Atem asked the shinobi. As he waited for an answer he then looked up to see a bystander, or what seemed to be another shinobi that was passing by. Looking into the eyes of the shinobi he could see that he was fairly familiar. "You, over there. Do I know you from somewhere?" Atem would bounce from his previous subject. He then stepped over the man once more, this time not stepping on his clothes as he had did before. 

Atem's strides then took a sudden stop once he could finally recognize the man, his lack of recolonization ability wasn't due to his eye sight because it was near perfect, it was something along the lines of having a bad memory or not being able to put the name to the face. "Ah, Kenshin Uzumaki was it?" He asked the familiar shinobi.

Did Pein want to fight? He laughed at the offer, for it seemed as if this shinobi that he just met was just like all the other shinobi that he had met in Hoshigakure. All of them were quite disapproving of Pein’s nonchalant, non - caring, and overall uninterested personality. And so, what was their natural inclination? To force him to gain interest anyway they knew how, and most people seemed to do so by requesting a spar from him. Perhaps his lack of care angered people and so they wanted to take that anger out on Pein. At this point, it was nothing but clockwork to Pein and something that he would likely have to get used to for the rest of his time in Hoshigakure. Just as he opened his mouth to respond to the challenge, he closed it shut noticing that there was yet another variable adding itself to the equation at hand.

The shinobi that Pein had already been communicating with called out to the shinobi, questioning if he had known him or not. He had walked pass Pein, and took steps forward, likely to see if he recognized the person. It seemed like he did, as he went on to call the man out by name. Kenshin Uzumaki. That last name was quite the historical one, belonging to one of the former hokages from hundreds of years ago. Even Pein was quite up to date with his history, so he was well aware the potential that someone else in that clan would be capable of. From Pein’s position, he could see the appearance of this Kenshin quite clearly. He bore a large scar in a diagonal orientation across his face. He seemed to be draped in heavier clothing, a large robe which covered his entire body and a gentleman’s hat to top it all off. The two shinobi seemed to know each other, so Pein fell under the impression that they might be friends. If that were to be the case, the possibility of Kenshin pressing a spar upon the two and teaming alongside this other unnamed shinobi against Pein was not slim. He sighed lightly while lifting his right hand to stroke his hair from the front to the back.

Shifting the weight from being balanced predominantly to his right leg. He crossed his arms and simply spectated the encounter unfolding before his eyes. The far off Uzumaki confirmed his identity and requested the name of the shinobi that revealed his identity. It was quite subtle the way that the shinobi never gave his name, seeming to only address the fact that the Uzumaki was seemingly secretive. He also went on to mention a spar that the two had quite some time ago apparently. He stated that the Uzumaki had grown in ability that was deemed “weird”.

Kenshin then focused his attention of Pein, who was clearly standing. He was confused by the comment made by Kenshin, almost as if he was under the impression that Pein had still been lying on the round. Perhaps he saw Pein when he had been lying on the floor when he and the other shinobi first interacted. But still, it puzzled Pein because if he had seen Pein lying on the floor then he must have been watching the encounter from afar for quite some time before deciding to approach. Despite the strangeness of the comment he made, he seemed to be nice. Quite nicer than the shinobi who unnecessarily stepped on Pein’s clothing and harassed him for no apparent reason whatsoever.

Instead of responding, Pein simply waved his hand and opened his mouth to begin. However, the rude shinobi cut him off and immediately dismissed Pein’s presence as if he were not even there. Pein closed his mouth and retracted his hand back to being tucked into the corner of his folded arm and sighed again. This shinobi seemed to want to be the center of the conversation at all times, being quite the talkative one. It didn’t bother Pein too much though, considering that he was that opposite. He was more observant. He instead just listened to the shinobi to continue talking. He seemed really pressed to have a spar with Kenshin and Pein, so much so that he was already planning out the logistics of the battle.

Pein started to tune him out though, thinking back on some jutsu that his father had begun teaching him but never actually finished. Apparently, one had been called the ice prison and the other was the ice dome. The first was sort of a relative to the not so different water prison, but seemed to be more developed and powerful than the latter. The second was more of a protective barrier created by the user. It seemed as if it encased the shinobi employing its power within a hallowed out ice prison which was actually quite capable of shielding the shiinobi within from damage coming from the outside. Pein focused his memory, recalling the exact movements required to execute the jutsu. The ice prison was rather simple, there was a single hand seal and then his father had immediately touched the ground after. Following that, a thick sheet of ice formulated around a decaying tree and encased it within its wrath. The next didn’t even require any hand seals, for his father only had focused his chakra then shot his hands forward and a large sphere of ice formulated around him and his son. Just as Pein was falling deeper and deeper into his memory, his thoughts were interrupted once more by the rude shinobi who yelled out to Pein as if he were too far to use his normal inside voice to communicate with him. Once again, he was questioning Pein, asking whether or not he wanted to participate in a spar.

Pein truly didn’t care. He wasn’t sure why the first go to activity to do with a new person was to fight them, but it didn’t matter much. He recalled the saying being something along the lines of a battle spoke volumes in comparison to a conversation. But to be truthful, Pein wasn’t all that favorable of conversations. So the spar did not really matter to him.

Still with his arms folded in his standing position, he shrugged his shoulders slightly and let out a, “I don’t care” just loud enough for both of the distant shinobi to hear him.

[Guys I'm going to put this topic on hold for today until I finish the chuunin which will be done by today. I know Ken is sleep so by the time he wakes up this will be back to normal]
