Let the Games Begin!

Haru stood in the Blood Games arena, arms crossed. The rubble of what was once Xyxer's throne lay behind him, being swept up by a nearby attendant. Upon seeing the construct, Haru's rage had been renewed, and, well... He couldn't help himself.

He stood, waiting for the two participants to arrive in the center of the stone arena, ready for their challenge.

As before, the games were held in a small arena built specifically for this. Stone floor for the outer 20 meters, water from the centre to 15 metres out (since that fills the 50 meter diameter!), the water is 10 foot deep, circular 50 meter diameter arena, 10 foot high walls surrounding with a viewing area above. No rooftop to allow the patter of rain if it should come.

When the two arrived, Haru would speak

"Now, these genin of Kirigakure will receive their first real test. He said, totally winging the dramatic speaking part of his job. "In the past, you were made to fight against each other. Today, however, you will have to work as a team, if you wish to survive." He  said. "An ANBU of Kirigakure will face you today. I do not expect you to succeed in a battle against him by yourselves. Work together, and you may just live through this battle." He instructed the genin. "The operative has been ordered to restrain his full strength unless necessary. Get him to do so, and I'll be impressed." He said, nodding and waving them on. "You may begin." He would say when his ANBU arrived.

(A few rules here. Genin will receive no stat cap, but the ANBU will receive a soft stat cap of 100. Force him to exceed this, and the Mizukage will be pleased. Defeat the ANBU, and... Well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. 

In order to speed the games along, you may skip someone after 24 hours without a post, unless they make an away post.

It has been a long time since Yuri entered an event on such a level. The last event of the same importance bit her, and hard. She walked into the tunnel that leads to her exam venue. A short walk ahead, but lots of memories came back to her. She used to be very excited, for the next caliber of her ninja life to get started. It was just a few opponents about her level of prowess, then just a few more and she would made it; Such thoughts went away her mind long ago in the wilderness. There are things more important than that now, for that is why she even bothered to find her way back to Kirigakure. 

As the she passed the end of the tunnel, She looked around the dome. There is no solid at the center of the dome, outer parts of the dome is where she now stands. Certain area of the outer dome is uneven though majority of the floor looks well maintained. She thought about her current capabilities, the first thing on her mind would be the little strain fighting on water. Worse still, she had no technique that strikes. A nostalgic situation as it seems, she was told that she is not alone beforehand. It would be better if she waited on for others before diving into beating anyone.

Ren stood in the entrance arena, he could sense the blood that had been spilled here, and although the Mist was now under new leadership it still put him on edge to know that the blood of many Ninja of the Mist had been shed here. All the same he pushed onwards, forcing down his anxiety and striding forward into the arena. As his eyes adjusted to the harsh light after the tunnel Ren would be surprised to see that of all the Genin In the mist only himself and the young girl Yuri, who he had briefly met a few days ago were the only ones standing here. This isn't good Ren thought to Himself as he came to a stop standing next to Yuri.

Ren stood there listening to the Mizukage's speech, but as Haru began to wind down he sidled up to Yuri and in his best effort at nonchalance said, "So any ideas? We could use some sort of a Plan."

Altar would walk through the side of the arena opposite the Genin entrance, his armor fit on his body and his mask set tight to his face so his identity would be kept secret. He would quickly check his surroundings before taking action. He had never been in the Blood Games arena before, as it was never a necessity. However, the arena was much to his liking. It seemed his opponents were both female...or...wait, maybe...was one a male? He couldn't really...oh, fuck it, what did it matter? It was time to dive into the action.

Altar's first move would be to expel a thick mist from his mouth, the mist coming to fill the entire arena in the blink of an eye. It would be incredibly hard for the Genin to see a hand in front of their face, let alone another person closing in from any direction. Activating his Byakugan, Altar would suppress his chakra signature and start forming handseals, while moving forward. When he had moved 20 meters forward, Altar would let loose 6 fireballs, all aimed in between the duo. Is they didn't move, the fireballs would impact them, effectively knocking Ren out and laying some heavy damage on Yuri. The cover of the mist would hide the fireballs well until they reached about 10 meters from the pair. From here, Altar would move further in, seeking out the one that could've possibly been male I guess.

Yuri saw the another genin arrive at the arena. She didn't have many chances to meet other genins of the village and here comes someone she barely knew. There wasn't any plans discussed on how to tackle the exam. The genin did started the exam by asking her on what's on her mind to get through this. Not knowing much about the others, Yuri could only forsee old school ones that could best get satisfactory results given her past experiences. She could only think of one word to say at this point of time and she would say it.

Deception. She said to the only other participating genin up front. That said, mist did not take its time to fill the arena from the opposite side, she only had a short time window to tell that the operative had showed up from its appearance. Its time to move. Yuri's vision got cut though she could still see her allies. Her senses gave her another clue as she could hear the faint interaction of moist and flames getting closer Fire ? She thought in her mind. Whatever that may be, Yuri would identify it as the current incoming thread for now. Where the mist had come from, it would be where the enemy would be coming as well. Go left Yuri whispered to her exam ally before moving to her left while the mist only gives her clues, not answers. However, to know whether the enemy is coming for her, she would have to allow both herself and the enemy to get on the water which looks to be a double edged sword. She landed on a spot where water and earth meets, placing both her legs at both elements each to keep her edge. She continues to keep her guard up.

Ren saw the Mist flowing from the opposite end of the stadium, that must be our opponent... and he's using the Hidden Mist Technique? Ren thought to himself. As he was rapidly trying to think of a plan he heard the girl whispering to him, she was right of course their only real chance was deception, but it wouldn't be an easy feat. Ren saw the girls ears perk up, a tiny twitch giving away that she'd heard something, Ren hardened his own senses searching for... crackling paper? no that wasn't right, it was more like... Fire! The girl told him to go left, and that was exactly what he would do, throwing himself to the left he leapt past the girl and landed with a light *plop* in the water a few meters away just as balls of fire hurtled into the spot he had once stood.

Altar would smirk under his mask at the two quickly moving out of the way of his fireballs. They were fast. But one of them had made a mistake. The one to move second, the male, had thrown himself carelessly. As of the moment, he was hung sideways in the air, aiming to dive into the water. Utilizing his skills and knowledge as an experienced fighter, Altar would form two handseals and open his mouth, three beams of lightning shooting out, one after the other. They would leave Altar's mouth as Ren dove to the water, and impact mere moments after Ren landed. Due to Ren being in the air and on the ground, there was little to no chance he would be able to dodge the two sent his way, one aiming for each knee. If they impacted, they would skewer Ren to the ground, effectively crippling him and taking him out of the scenario. The pain would most likely be enough to knock Ren out cold, though the spears would cauterize the wounds. The last spear would be sent at Yuri's right leg, at about shin level.

After the spears had launched from Altar, he would dash in towards Yuri, lightning covering his left hand as he extended four fingers, drawing his sword in his right. Upon reaching Yuri, Altar would swing his sword horizontally at waist level, then bring it back across diagonally upwards, then back again with a low swing at her legs, before thrusting his left hand forwards, aiming to spear the girl through the stomach. The sword swings would most likely destabalize her and take the girl off balance, driving her back, though they would hurt if they impacted. The Hell Stab would be the real threat and the finisher.

Her partner did as she told. However, that wasn't the only presence she could detect. What happened earlier was deduced by environmental interactions and it happened again. She did not felt the original presence of her partner as her partner got past her, it was not in the shape of a human. But when streaks of light came to the side of her where her partner, she was barely within reach to flick her partner from descending for a moment. It almost give her right foot off the ground for good when she saw her hand getting brighter, she knew she was being put to test. Just like the old times where her partner would always pull it off, now it would be her turn, a test of sturdiness in times of pressure. She turned around quickly to raise her right foot a diagonally just in time to evade what looked like lightning spears. It wasn't the end as she would think that the same attack was tested on her partner, water was sent forth from her back to reveal the impact of the attack after it got pass her partner thanks to the suspension. She had to get her right foot back on the ground when another figure came to her sights as though she could felt herself getting at her. It was the operative. He came at her with a lightning blade before she could get back on both her feet. It was time, she had no choice. Her left knee bend to shift her torso downwards to evade the swing. On the contrary, her right feet landed back on earth sooner that expected. She could see the blade coming at her legs this time, her left hand, hidden from her opponent's naked view, used the handseal unique to her from her own experience to get herself shifted backwards to evade the next swing. She restored her balance within this time frame to handle what's coming from his right hand. She used the remaining of the shift to evade the thrust and getting pass it at the same time to flank the operative from slightly behind her left within half an arm's length.

At this moment, it was all or nothing. She formed her seal immediately to perform a body blow on him. It was the one and only chance she had to get him by his neck and she will not flinch from it. She hoped that her partner's mind would align like the stars do. Her teeth will be put to the test.

Ren saw his impending doom coming for him, as flew past his partner he saw the telltale glow of a lightning technique, three spears of light piercing through the fog. Ren franticly tried to think of a way out of this, conceiving and discarding a whole host of ideas before realising that his only hope of surviving lied with Yuri. Ren through his hands together, forming the hand seals for the technique he had learnt many years ago, and in a puff of smoke a small white fox appeared in his place in mid-air. Ren felt Yuri reach out her hand and, with a silent thanks he used his four legs to press off from her hand. There was a splash of water, the spears of lightning causing the water to explode upwards showering ren with water just as he saw their opponent moving to engage with Yuri. In a puff off smoke Ren returned to his normal form and clasping his hands together again he began to move with such speed that he seemed to blur, strafing to the side so that he had a good aim Ren would reach out with his right hand a sealing formula swirling down his arm and coalesced in his palm, before firing five bolts of chakra at his enemy.

The bolts weren't there to harm their opponent, Ren new that teamwork was their best chance of surviving here, instead four of the five shots were aimed to hamper their opponents movements, two aimed just far enough back from the man that he wouldn't be able to retreat backwards while fighting Yuri, while two more were aimed towards the man's legs, making his footwork more difficult, as ren continued to strafe around the two opponents the last bolt would be the clincher Ren timed it so that just as the man's horizontal swing finished the bolt would collide with the blade, due to the position that Ren was now standing the bolt would either hit the blade, the force of the impact being enough to either break the sword if Ren was lucky, or more likely throw the man off balance and interrupt his attacks, or due to the direction the bolt was coming from if the man moved the sword in to continue his attack he would be hit in the torso with this last bolt.

As Altar rushed towards Yuri, he would notice the boy, Ren, had transformed into a fox in order to escape from his attack. Clever, vary your size. However, with size came strength. He'd need to be careful with that in the future.

As Altar came towards the girl, he would notice the girl's right leg lifted from the ground. Taking that into note, he would continue his actions. As he swung his sword horizontally across her body, the girl bent her left knee, lowering her body. However due to the lack of balance, this action would cause her to lean backwards, out of range of his first swing. And as his swing came to completion, he would take notice of the shots of chakra fired for him. The first two were aimed behind him, meaning no harm. The second two had been aimed for his legs, however due to his constant forward motion in his pressing attack on Yuri, they too had missed, blasting the ground at his heels. The last shot was aimed for his sword, however it didn't seem to hold much, and as he had just finished his first swing as it impacted, it would simply ting off the metal blade, sent straight back for it's original caster at about chest level.

Now, as he had just finished his first swing at Yuri, the girl would be leaning backwards, well off balance. She would need to shift back forwards to put her right foot on the ground, and as she did this, Altar would take his second swing diagonally up across her body, stopping mid-swing to thrust forward and drive the sword through the girl's chest, continuing his movement and planting the sword well into the ground.

Now that Yuri was finished, Altar would turn his attention to Ren. Altar would rush towards Ren while forming handseals, and upon reaching him would deliver a swift right kick to the front of the boy's right knee, before completing the handseals and grabbing the boy by the head. As he did, an orb of water would materialize around the boy, trapping him. The water would be virtually harmless for the next few minutes. However, the boy would find himself unable to move or break free.
