Komon felt he was becoming extremely skilled with lightning style lately, he had mastered a total of three already, he had started with Kieren no Jutsu also known as Cramp Jutsu, a simple D rank Jutsu and the most simple lightning style in his arsenal. But he had slowly worked his way up, eventually getting to learn Electromagnetic murder, his first C rank. Not knowing how to manage his chakra at the time that had proved disastrous for him. And most recently he had developed a B rank ninjutsu, the lightning javelin. Komon was certainly proud of these accomplishments, but he wanted to kick it up a notch. He wanted to learn his first A rank ninjutsu today, and nothing was going to stop him from doing it.
With determination he arose from his bed, feeling ready to begin his training for the day and at the same time excited to be reaching the level of power an A rank demanded. As he stepped onto his floor he paced himself over to his closet, sliding the door open he pulled his signature green jacket off of its hangar and pulled it over his head and on to his body. He smiled at his reflection, he was growing with his training and he was certainly beginning to look battle hardened. With a sigh he walked over to the chest at the end of his bed containing his ninja tools.
Opening it he pulled out his father’s old vest, it was ragged and offered no protection in its current state, but Komon wore it none the less, it reminded him of his father, and the good old days. He slid the vest on and let it rest across his body before buckling it at the waist. With the vest secured he bent down and picked up his headband, placing it over the curse mark he had chosen to put on himself to protect his byakugan. He tied it into place, like he had done so many times before. Looking at the end product he saw a strong shinobi in the mirror, something his mom and dad could have been proud of if they had managed to live long enough to see it. The thought brought conflicting emotions to his mind, he was both happy they would be proud, but angry they had allowed themselves to die.
Komon didn’t like to think on it to much, sure that if he did the bad emotions would outweigh the good. So he walked downstairs, it was early morning and he didn’t want to wake up his brother Komori so he placed each step as gently as possible. He skipped past the kitchen not planning on eating at home anyways. He wanted to see Amai again, so he was going to go get some waffles, from the diner down the street. He picked his katana and scrolls up from the counter he had left them on and waltzed out the front door of his apartment onto the streets of the village hidden in the clouds.
The sky was clear and the weather was nice as usual, that was one of the few advantages to living in the hidden cloud, the weather was almost always amazing. Komon began his walk to the diner and it didn’t take him long to reach it, he made it their in only a couple minutes. He could smell the waffles from all the way outside, and the smell brought a smile to his face. With his hunger at an all time high he decided it would be best to get some food as soon as possible, and walked through the front door.
He was surprised to see however that Amai was not there, instead a blonde girl with a nametag that read “Ci” was standing where she usually did, Komon was disappointed by that, he was hoping to see her today. He walked up to the new girl and introduced himself, before asking where Amai was. Ci smiled and said she was amais friend, and informed him that Amais mother had gotten very sick, and that amai had to quit so that she could take care of her. This struck Komon pretty hard, he knew the pain of losing a mother and hoped Amai didn’t have to go through it, she seemed much too nice for such a fate.
Feeling considerably less happy then had felt before this news he asked if there were any open tables. Ci told him there was one in the back if he wanted it; to which he agreed. She walked him over to his table reading him the menu as he traveled but he didn’t really listen because he already knew what he wanted. When they arrived at the table she asked if he was ready to order, and he instantly replied “I’ll have the waffles please” Ci told him she’d get right on it and be back with them momentarily. Komon told her thank you before she walked away.
With the waitress gone he gave the diner a scan to see if he could find anybody he knew, in doing so he activated his byakugan to see if he could recognize anybody through the wall. He smiled when he saw the outline of Yutaka around the corner. That man knew a lot about jutsu and could probably recommend him an A rank lightning jutsu. So he signaled to the waitress Ci telling her he’d be over at that table for a little bit and to just put the food at the table if he wasn’t there when the food was ready.
So he got up and walked over to say hi to his friend Yutaka, who happened to be eating with Tayo again. He walked up and tapped the jounin on the shoulder to let his presence be known, before saying hello. They all greeted each other and told Komon to have a seat. They already had their food Yutaka was eating bacon and eggs and Tayo had gotten the waffles like Komon. After the usual conversation topics Yutaka asked what Komon needed help with. Komon then explained the situation about how he wanted to develop stronger lightning ninjutsu. And Yutaka and Tayo listened intently.
After being fully informed on what Komon wanted to do they talked to each other for a bit and Yutaka remembered that Komon had previously learned shadow clone jutsu. This sparked a thought in his head. “Hey, Komon. You already learned Naruto’s signature jutsu the shadow clone jutsu right? Why not learn Chidori, he had a teammate named Sasuke who was also extremely powerful. That was his signature jutsu” Komon had heard about sasuke but didn’t know much about him. He told Yutaka he would look into it at the library and decide and thanked him for his help, before getting up and heading back to his table.
He was delighted to see that his food was already waiting for him, his stomach had been rumbling for a while now, and he dug into the food almost instantly savoring every bite. He felt his appetite began to subside, and felt his strength coming back to him. After about 10 minutes he had finished his plate, and called Ci over so that he could pay for his meal. He tipped her because he had appreciated her telling him about Amai, and headed out the diner passing Yutaka and Tayo and waving as he went out the front door so that he could go to the library to research this Chidori move Yutaka had told him about at the table.
With his appetite satisfied and a jutsu in mind Komon began his journey to the library, he decided to take a different route than the normal however wanting to change up the status quo. He decided to walk towards the outer rim of the village where a path took you through the trees, it was a nature trail of sorts. He liked walking through nature, it was always relaxing it had the same effect as he felt when he star gazed, Komon decided that he like nature and that at chuunin he was going to learn earth release.
After a bit of a journey he eventually made it back to the front door of the library and eager to learn he opened it and entered the building. Upon entering he was greeted by the familiar face of his friend Jiyo. He said hello and she like always asked what jutsu he wanted to learn, she knew after all that that was the only reason he ever came to the library. Komon smiled, and laughed before asking Jiyo if she knew anything about Sasuke Uchiha. The woman paused at the mention of the name, it clearly shocked her. Then she replied “He was a friend of the 7th hokage, why?” he then told her he wished to learn chidori, a lightning technique the man had specialized in, and asked if she knew where he could find information about it.
Jiyo told him that there was a history book on Team 7, in the back of the library that he could check out along with the A rank lightning style book in the lightning elemental section he visited so often, and that they would both give him some extended knowledge on the jutsu. Komon thanked the librarian for consistent help before walking over to the back of the library to find that Team 7 book, they must have been pretty powerful to get their own book after all. After a bit of searching he found the book and picked it off of the shelf before going to a table to read it.
When he got to the table he flipped the book open and began reading, he skipped the chapters about Naruto, and Sakura, as neither of them had ever used chidori, and then began to read about kakashi, the man had a pretty tragic life, his whole original team died. But that wasn’t what komon cared about right now, he needed to know about chidori, so he skipped to kakashi’s jutsu summary and was impressed to find out that the man created it at only 13 years old. He had never heard of someone so young, creating their own custom ninjutsu. Upon further research he discovered that he later became the sensei of team 7, and would take in interest in training sasuke uchiha, one of only two surviving uchiha at the time.
Sasuke learned Chidori at a young age and brought it to new heights developing several of his own jutsu based off of the base chidori. Komon liked the idea of this jutsu opening him up to more combinations and abilities. After reading up a little bit more on both kakashi and sasuke komon decided he should start researching the jutsu. So he closed the book on team 7 deciding he had learned quite a bit on the history of chidori, discovering both its inventor and its mastermind. He walked over to the shelf he had gotten it from and put it back. Shifting his direction towards the lightning elemental section.
He walked into the aisle gazing at the books, Jiyo had said it was an A rank jutsu, which was exactly what he had been hoping for in the first place, so he skimmed his hands over the binding of the books until he found the A rank lightning nin book. A feeling of excitement at learning this jutsu surrounded him, it would be his first A rank, and that was exciting all on its own not to mention someone who rivaled the 7th hokage used it as their signature jutsu. He pulled the book off of the shelf and returned to his table to study the ninjutsu he craved to learn so badly.
He flipped to the chapter for chidori and began to read, immersing himself in knowledge of the ninjutsu, he was surprised to find out the amount of chakra it too, determining he’d only be able to use it maybe twice in a fight. That didn’t discourage him from learning it however, he wanted more than anything to be powerful and wasn’t going to let his chakra reserves stop him, he had the electromagnetic murder incident to vouch for that. He kept looking through astonished by the amount of handseals this jutsu required. He counted 11 in total and new he was going to have to spend at least an hour memorizing them alone. This jutsu was an A rank for a reason and appeared to be much harder than the shadow clone jutsu, and lightning javelin that where only one rank behind it.
With the massive amount of information behind this jutsu he decided it would be best to take the book with him and got up to go to the front desk, walking across the library he noticed several other genin looking at books and studying jutsu, he then saw the fliers for the chuunin exams all over the walls. He laughed, apparently everyone was preparing for this. After a couple of seconds he made his way to the front desk of the library where he found Jiyo.
They talked for a little bit before Komon told her he wanted to check out the book so that he could look over it while he was training. Jiyo nodded and walked him through the check out process, they talked for a little while longer and she wished him luck with his training. Komon thanked her for her help and waved goodbye as he turned around to exit the library building and make his way towards the training ground, with a vast knowledge of the jutsu in hand he planned to master it soon. And the only way he knew to do that was to practice on the training grounds.
Deciding just walking would take too much of his valuable daylight he decided to use his newly mastered lightning javelin to speed up the process, letting the electricity surround him he blasted through the village at the maximum speed his body would allow him to, watching buildings fly by as his legs extended, and using chakra control to scale buildings in his way. He felt the wind rushing against him as he blew through the center of the village and across it. He reached the training grounds in under a two minutes as opposed to the usual ten.
Now at the training ground Komon pulled the book out of his weapons pouch and began to study the hand seals, the sheer amount proved to be a challenge to remember more than double the amount of seals from his hardest jutsu so far. But komon was a dedicated student and something as simple as numbers wouldn’t stop him. He practiced weaving the signs for hours over and over again committing it to memory. Ox, Rabbit, Monkey, Dragon, Rat, Bird, Ox, Snake, Dog, Tiger, Monkey. Over and over again, until he had completely remembered it. After the second hour ended he felt he had it down to a science and began to prepare to use the jutsu for the first time.
From what he could tell from the book it was basically and insanely amped up cramp jutsu with a much finer control of chakra to be demanded. Komon was sure he could produce at least one of these with his current capabilities. He knew he would only be able to run in a straight line as that is what the book explained the jutsu would do, so he walked over to the tallest and thickest oak tree he could find, determined to shatter it. He placed a target on the tree and walked back about 30 meters. Ready to practice the jutsu he turned and faced the target.
Methodically he wove the signs, Starting with ox and moving onto rabbit, followed by monkey, then dragon and rat, bird came next accompanied by ox, then snake then dog and tiger and finally monkey. Not knowing exactly how to use chidori he thought of Kieren no Jutsu which he had already mastered, and mirrored the effects letting the lightning rush from his chest to his palm. Like he had done so many times before he saw the lightning take shape in his fist, but he didn’t want kieren no jutsu, he wanted chidori, so he amplified it and a vast amount of lightning poured out from his hand, it took a lot of chakra and he instantly felt the effects it would have on his body. Believing this to be chidori he began his assault on the tree. Digging into the ground and charging in a straight line, from 30 meters out however his aim wasn’t perfect and he noticed as his distance from the tree shortened he was going to miss it completely, he had aimed slightly to the left and this jutsu did not allow him to adjust for his misstep, even as he watched it unfold, as this was happening he began to think about how disastrous this could be in an actual fight, if he charged and a man drew his sword he’d be forced to run straight into it. He watched as he passed the tree and flew into the bushes beside it, his makeshift chidori crashing into the ground in the process and barely leaving a dent.
Komon sighed in disappointment, laying down in the barely affected bushes. So he couldn’t aim this thing, he didn’t know how much chakra to use and he barely left a dent in a bush when the jutsu should be able to shatter a tree. Disappointed in himself he began to think of solutions like he often did. The first problem could be fixed with practice, the second could be solved with common sense, he barely left a dent in the bushes which means chidori required more chakra than he had already used. He hoped that would also solve the third problem and allow him to master it in his next attempt, because with the chakra he had just used he was already feeling massive drawbacks, and he was planning to use more chakra to solve the problem. He wouldn’t bet on his ability to produce a third attempt.
Slowly he rose himself out of the bushes, and back onto his feet. His determination to learn this jutsu was at an all time high as he walked back to the place he had marked as the starting line. Before attempting the jutsu he made sure to line up his path, not wanting to miss the tree again. He made a mental note that if he ever wanted to effectively use this jutsu in battle he’d have to find some way to pin the opponent so that they couldn’t dodge, maybe restrain them with a clone or paralysis jutsu. Deciding he’d figure that out after he could actually use the damn thing. So he started weaving the seals yet again, the 11 symbols coming naturally to him due to his extensive practice. Starting with ox and moving onto rabbit, followed by monkey, then dragon and rat, bird came next accompanied by ox, then snake then dog and tiger and finally monkey. With the seals complete he began to funnel lightning chakra back into his palm, this time with more power than the last, feeling the lightning surging through his veins he pushed forward towards the target.
He dashed as fast as he could with the lightning blazing from his palm every stride bringing him closer to his target, he felt the exhaustion as the chakra flowed from his chest, not wanting to waste this hit he was more than relieved as he got closer to the tree and realized that his attack would actually connect this time, the next couple seconds seemed to last minutes, as he made contact with the tree his eyes widened in excitement, but as he watched the electricity disperse that joy left his eyes, his attack had cracked the target but didn’t do any damage at all to the tree itself. He pounded his fist against the tree clearly angry and exhausted at the same time. He knew he couldnt attempt this again so soon. He was much too low on chakra.
So he slumped down and took a breather with his back against the oak tree. Looking at the sky he noticed it was beginning to get dark outside and that the sun was beginning to set. He watched in wonder as the night sky began to overtake the sun, and stars began to emerge, by the time he had broken his concentration from the sky however he had realized that about an hour had passed. In the time he had noticed his chakra restored itself, and he had what felt like enough for another chidori. But not wanting to waste it he began to brainstorm solutions onto how he would make the chidori actually do the damage he was supposed to. And after looking back he thought he may have found a solution, his problem was he was picturing Kieren no Jutsu which had no striking force, it completely relied on the electricity to do its damage, he figured maybe chidori was more like Electromagnetic murder he has to shape it and control the chakra, into a sharp piercing force that would split the tree.
Feeling he had brainstormed this enough he wanted to put it into action, if this didn’t work he’d simply have to try again tomorrow. It would be to dark and he simply wouldn’t have the chakra to try again any time soon. He was already pushing the maximum of his abilities with this last attempt, and risking running out of chakra again, he didn’t like the risk but it was something he had to do. Taking a deep breath he wove the 11 signs with his hands like he’d practiced so many times before. They came to him with ease. After making the hand signs he focused the electricity letting it flow from his chest to his palm, and amplifying it, this time taking special care to give it an almost spearlike shape, this chidori would deal some serious damage or he’d die trying, turning to face the target before he began his approach he inhaled deeply.
With a clear mind he began his all out assault on the poor tree. Extending his legs backwards pushing into the dirt and building momentum, he felt sweat dripping down his forehead and into his eyes, it stung but he shook it off nothing was going to break his concentration he was going to hit this target with every ounce of his strength, he was charging forward not wasting a single inch of that momentum he had been so focused on building, he watched as the tree grew closer and closer, feeling weaker with every step he took, but with time he reached that tree, and when he did his chidori connected.
He watched in amazement as the sign shattered with ease and his arm pierced through the tree like butter, sawing it in half. The tree toppled over to the left of him and his body surged with satisfaction as he heard a loud thud, when the tree met the ground with immense force. He raised his fist in the air and screamed to nobody in particular “YES” he then fell to the ground so he could lay down and regain his breath. After several minutes he began to feel his chakra coming back to him and his body recovering, slowly he began to rise to his feet using the stump of the tree he had cut down to push himself up. He looked around at the destruction his new jutsu had caused and smiled, it was obviously a powerful technique in its own right, Komon was glad he had taken the time to learn it. With satisfaction he turned and began his journey home.
