She Wants a Picnic, So A Picnic She'll Get Empty She Wants a Picnic, So A Picnic She'll Get

Mission Details:

Senshi woke up later than usual, since he knew that he needed to be at the mission office instead of the training fields today he had decided to afford himself some extra time to sleep in. He rose quickly, dressing himself and eating breakfast so that he could head to the mission office quickly. He was excited that he had been called on the day before and today to do more missions. Though he was personally enjoying the difficulty of the Chuunin Exam missions yesterday’s mission had reawaken his passion for doing missions for the village. Assisting in the delivery of materials to the shelters, while not glamourous, had allowed him to his duty to the village. Truly helping it out again, despite the fact that he had not had much to do with missions, other than the Chuunin Exams, lately.

Once he was ready he quickly headed out, his sword strapped securely to his back, his Tanto’s on his hips, and his weapon pouches secured on his thighs. He looked exactly like what he was, a decently experienced weapons specialist. Those staring at him wouldn’t know that he knew several taijutsu, Ninjutsu, Fuuinjutsu, and space time jutsu as well. Not to mention the very few Genjutsu that he knew. The Genin was slowly becoming more confident in his abilities knowing that he was decently well rounded and had a good level of versatility to himself. He arrived at the missions office, watching as a small amount of dirt blasted away from his feet when he landed. Walking inside right as six o clock hit, he approached the D rank mission desk giving a crisp salute to the Chuunin that had given him his mission the day before.

“Genin Kobayashi Senshi reports as ordered, sir.” Since he didn’t really know what mission he was here to collect, only that the Chuunin had ordered him to return he had changed up his normal sequence of words. The Chuunin behind the desk gave a tired sigh before tossing him a scroll then standing up and pulling out a much larger scroll. It looked to measure about five feet wide and around eight feet long. The Chuunin hefted it onto the desk before speaking, “All right so you’ll be traveling to Dragon Ravine, Kobayashi. The Christmas picnic that’s planned needs some supplies delivered. Today it’s your turn. You’ll also need to ensure the area is cleaned up and that any animals are chased away. Good luck.”

Senshi gave a nod surprised that he would be needing to travel so far in order to complete his mission, especially since so far all of the D ranks had taken place here inside the village. He tucked the mission scroll into his weapons pouch before stepping forwards and swinging the Sealing scroll onto his back, much as he had done the day prior. He was slightly nervous to travel so far not only on his own, but also with the scroll preventing him from drawing his sword. He gave a crisp salute before turning sharply on his heel and heading out the doors. He took off at a run towards the village gates, waiting until he arrived there to step out of the way of the road and open up his mission scroll. It was just as the Chuunin had said earlier, he would be headed to Dragon Ravine in order to deliver three picnic tables, and accompanied benches. Seven Bar-b-que grills that he would need to emplace into the ground. Then he was also tasked with ensuring the area was still cleaned up due to the recent snow fall, and check to make sure no animals were in the area.

Giving a light sigh Senshi looked at the sky, it was going to take him almost two hours to travel to the ravine, and he would need to keep a sharp eye out for anyone while he was outside of the village gates. He felt incredibly proud that he was being entrusted to do something like this alone, however. He was sure that it probably had something to do with the fact that he had completed so many of the Chuunin missions so far. He set off, headed towards the Ravine turning a blind eye to the rot forest as he quickly traversed through it. The first time he had seen it, he had been rather horrified but it had been explained to him by his academy instructors that the Rot forest protected them all. That the Raikage had emplaced it in order to ensure they were all as safe as possible from attack.

Due to that teaching he now looked on the rot forest with gratitude, it was doing exactly what it was supposed to do. Once he left the rot forest he took to the trees, jumping along them at his best speed, heading for the Dragon Ravine. He looked on the world around him with wide eyes. He had never before left the confines of the village, and now that he was he found everything so new, and exciting. He ignored the many animals that were moving around in the fresh snow, they were no threat to him. Plus since he wasn’t anywhere near the ravine yet he didn’t need to worry about finding a way to scare them off. Senshi marveled at the beauty of his country as he tree hopped along, it was unfortunate that the mountains that held the ravine were so far away.

He could see them in the distance rising up high in the sky, completely imposing. After two hours of hard running he finally skidded to a stop, catching himself around a tree branch and kneeling down as he panted. It was just after eight in the morning and as he looked out into the clearing where the picnic was to be held he could see the mountains rising in the background. Snow covered everything but it was obvious that the higher one went up the mountain the more snow that law there. He was glad for his thick black cloak as he could feel the strong chill in the air. He turned his head looking around, checking for any enemies that may be in the area. His eyes alighted on the huge entrance to a cave, it looked remarkably like the pictures of dragons he had seen before.

Finally he jumped down into the freshly snow covered clearing pulling out his mission scroll as he did so. Once he had opened it up and orientated himself correctly with the map that lie within he walked over to where the picnic tables, and benches were supposed to be placed. It looked like he was one of the first to be doing a delivery mission to this site, since other than being cleaned out nothing else was in the area. Shrugging off his pride at the thought that he was actually here, outside of the village by himself he pulled the large sealing scroll off his back. Glad to be able to have access to his sword again. He quickly unrolled the scroll finding the markings for the first picnic table he channeled his chakra unsealing it. Picking up the rather heavy wooden table he carried it several feet to where the map had told him to place it. He then returned to his scroll repeating the process with his two other picnic tables.

Once they were in place he checked the map, and then adjusted two of the tables so that they were as perfectly placed as possible. The Raikage and his wife, Akihana, were hosting this specifically for the shinobi of Kumo. He would do everything in his power to ensure this mission was completed as perfectly as possible. He certainly didn’t want it on his head that the mission had failed. As he was moving back to the scroll, he almost felt like hitting himself. He needed to clear out all this excess snow, leaves, and branches. Yet that would be difficult to do with everything set up. Giving an annoyed sigh he collected the scroll and the three tables, just managing to balance all the items. They were heavy, but not overtly so and he didn’t struggle with the weight as he transported them to the edge of the clearing.

He needed to first clear this area out, before he set anything else up. He knew from his mission the day before that he could use the Decapitating Airwaves technique in order to do so, but then he had already learned that. While he wanted to get more practice in with it, he had a better idea. He needed to learn more wind techniques as it was, and his research had led him to a technique called Fuuton: Kaze Sutoraiku. Or more commonly referred to as Wind Release: Wind Strike. It was a taijutsu move that was quite similar to Raiton: Jodan. He would charge wind chakra into his fist or feet and the strike itself would be powered by the wind letting loose small gusts of wind.

Though it wouldn’t clear the area as quickly as if he used decapitating air waves, it would allow him to learn another Taijutsu technique. After his spar with the Raikage, in order to pass his final preliminary Chuunin missions, Senshi knew that he was rather lacking in the taijutsu department. Something that he found completely unacceptable considering he needed to be a good, well rounded shinobi for his village. With this in mind he stepped several feet away from the materials he had transported and delved into his chakra. Senshi began converting his chakra into wind natured chakra as he brought his hands up, he slowly formed the Ram seal concentrating on letting the wind natured chakra flow through it. His hands transitioned to the rat seal and he felt the chakra in his fists ramp up, feeling the small breeze coming off them as it made his hair move around.

He then pulled his fist back thrusting it forwards and repeated with his other fist watching as small amount of snow and leaves picked up and were blow backwards. He knew the technique had more power behind it then he had just demonstrated but he would need to practice more to get it down correctly. He resolved himself to the fact that this was going to take a while. As he began moving forwards slowly performing Wind Release: Wind Strike over and over again the small pile of snow, leaves, twigs, and rocks that he was creating began to grow. He started from the edges of the clearing blowing everything back several feet all along the perimeter before her began to direct it towards the back, far left of the clearing from where he had stashed his materials. He was beginning to tire from so much chakra usage after an hour. He had only managed to clear up about a third of the grounds in that time as well.

He sat down, leaning against a tree looking at the rather large pile he had created, feeling much more confident in his abilities with the new taijutsu technique. Though the hand seals were a bit of a drag to have to perform it was clear that this technique would allow him to surprise opponents that decided to get too close to him. After fifteen minutes he finally jumped back up and resumed his task of clearing the entire field. Another hour of hard work would go by, with Senshi focusing on using the Wind Release: Wind Strike over and over again. His limbs were quickly becoming using to the techniques effects and he was finally getting the full power out of the technique after such diligent practice. Unfortunately after two hours of hard work less than half the clearing was clean up, and though the pile was rather large Senshi knew that he couldn’t afford to be wasting time with his own training any longer. He had managed to get the technique down, now it was time to speed up this mission so that he wasn’t traveling back in the dark.

With this in mind, the young Genin drew his two Tanto’s and began using the Decapitating Airwaves technique, marveling at how much faster the clearing was being cleaned up. It took less than thirty minutes for him to finish cleaning the clearing and he blew the large mound of snow, rocks, and twigs into the forest. It was still visible from the clearing but rather easy to ignore since it was out of the way. With that complete he headed back to his materials, pleased to see that nothing had disturbed them while he worked. He grabbed his missions scroll and two of the picnic tables walking them over to where he thought they were supposed to be. Once he placed them down he retried the third picnic table, and one of the benches placing them down he then grabbed the final two benches from the sealing scroll. He checked his map and adjusted the tables and benches several times until he felt they were as perfect as possible.

They would be able to with stand any strong gusts of winds due to how sturdy they were and it would be other Genin’s problems with ensuring this area was cleaned and cleared for the picnic. He returned to his sealing scroll, unsealing all of the Bar-b-ques. using his map he began to carry them over to the place they were supposed to be set up at. It was almost halfway across the clearing from the tables, clearly who ever had planned this really didn’t want to accidentally catch the tables on fire. Once he had transported all seven over there he checked the map several times making marks on the ground for where each one would need to be placed. It took him quite a while before he felt comfortable with the locations he had marked before he began to shove them into the ground.

It took him a lot of struggling with the first one before it was finally securely in the ground. The Rocky mountain area had produced a harder ground than he was used to dealing with. Thinking for several seconds he withdrew his blades and using the decapitating airwaves technique he softened the ground at each of the remaining six spots before inserting the rest of the bar-b-ques. It would take a little bit for the ground to achieve its original hardness but once it did these bar-b-ques would be almost completely unmovable. Now that he had completed clearing the area, and placing all the items he was given he rolled up the sealing scroll throwing it across his back as he returned to the wood area around him. He began to make slow steady sweeps of the area moving as silently as he could, searching for any animals that he would need to scare off.

Ideally the boy wanted to place some traps to ensure nothing would mess with the items he had emplaced, but he knew that he couldn’t do that. Too many shinobi would be coming here in the near future and all it would take was one not paying attention and setting one of his traps off before he’d get into trouble. Especially if another shinobi was injured when it happened, he knew Akihana-sama would not be pleased if that were to happen. He spent three hours combing the woods, looking for animals before he decided to call it quits and head back towards the village. It was already three in the afternoon, after all and he didn’t want to report back with the mission too late. He gave the clearing one last look over listening intently before he turned and headed back towards the village.

Despite not really training all day, or even the day before he was incredibly tired from this mission. It taxed his stamina having to run from the village to the ravine and back. Not to mention carrying the supplies he had been emplacing had not been easy. Plus clearing out the clearing of the snow and other debris had taxed his chakra. He was certainly looking forwards to a nice warm shower and going to be early tonight. It took him a half an hour longer to navigate himself back to the village, and then another fifteen minutes to move through the village to the mission’s office. He had filled out his report as he was heading back so at least he had one less thing to do now that he was back. He entered the mission office knocking off the snow on his feet as he did so. He waited in a short line before placing the used sealing scroll and his report on the desk.

Stepping back he gave a crisp salute, ignoring his exhaustion and hunger, he spoke his tone clear and professional. “Sir, Genin Kobayashi Senshi reporting D rank mission 44512 complete.” The Chuunin broadly picked the scroll up perusing it for several minutes while he ignored the Genin standing at a stiff attention before him. Finally he looked up and have a dismissive wave before dismissing the boy. Senshi grit his teeth as he saluted again before turning sharply and heading back out of the building. He needed food, a shower, and sleep. At this point he wasn’t even sure in what order he wanted everything. He made his way back to his home wondering if any other new missions would be coming up soon.
