A Picnic in the Mountains

It was at last time that time of year within the Hidden Cloud Village and a certain ninja had been looking forward to it. Throughout his home came the smell of lightly braised meat cooking along the stove top as he was in the process of chopping up some freshly picked veggies out of a small garden he'd been visiting that belonged to a friend of his who often grew veggies for him. He had chopped up a bit of asparagus along with green beans, mint leaves, and lettuce in order to make a fresh salad that he had a feeling was going to be a delicious edition to the picnic he was planning on going to. He added a few preparations with his dressing as he flipped the meat that was sizzling in the skillet quickly. He had buttered the pan and could already smell the butter melting into the meat beautifully as he also made to stir the dressing around in the bowl. Multitasking was a good way for training in both becoming a ninja and in cooking he had found as it practiced good hand eye coordination. After a while he flipped the meat onto his cutting board and got out a knife to prepare cutting.

Moyasu examined his knife's sharp edges in order to check if there were any chips along the steel or any leftover food he had missed while cleaning it. Luckily he didn't see anything like that along the blade which would have made him upset as he didn't want to cause any unnecessary sanitation trouble that he'd possibly have to pay for later. Just in case though he turned on the water in his sink and put some soap on a sponge as he washed his knife thoroughly as the leafy and flowery smell of his soap filled the area only to be overshadowed by the smell of the steaming meat the knife was about to be used on. He rinsed the soap off the knife, making certain to get all the soap off, before making his way back to the cutting board while drying the knife using a small flame he conjured into the palm of his free hand. He guided the flame along the blade as the water either dripped off or evaporated into steam until he was now holding a perfectly clean knife ready for chopping up whatever he needed sliced or diced... or both. He would give a small flourish with the knife while positioning the meat in place and start cutting.

As his knife glided into the juicy meat and sliced off chunk after chunk Moyasu watched as small pools of the meat's juices dripped off and gathered along all the slice points. It just showed how succulent the meat was as he cut the chunks into cubes before setting them all aside into a bowl and sprinkling some spices and seasoning onto it all. "Time to mix..." His bowl was about halfway full with meat as he stirred it all around so that all the seasonings could mix into the still hot meat and really get the flavors activated. After stirring the meat for a little bit he flipped the contents expertly, making certain that none of the contents flew out of the bowl, as he set the bowl down and began gathering the veggies he'd been letting marinate in oils and other seasonings. "Looks ready." He gave the dressing he'd been preparing a final stir, the thick and creamy looking sauce turning to his spoon's will, as he tipped the bowl over the salad and watched as the dressing poured all along the leaf and lettuce covered plate. After that he then got a bit of the meat and scattered it over the salad before packaging it all into a plastic container.

After having put everything he needed for his salad into the container Moyasu stretched out his arms in order to get the kinks he had developed within them out due to all the cooking he had just done. With a crack of his knuckles it was now time to make something he hadn't made in a while: pizza. He walked over to his refrigerator and got out some dough he had made a few hours earlier as he got it out of the plastic wrapper and started rolling it out and flattening it into a more disc like shape. He then started handling it by picking it up and moving his hands along the bottom in order to stretch out the dough a bit before tossing it in the air. As he did this he turned on his oven so that it could preheat before taking his completed dough and placing it on his table. After a bit more preparation, putting folds along the edges of the dough before putting some sauce he made from scratch along with some grated mozzarella, he placed a few of his chopped steak along the top along with some mushrooms and some bacon before putting it all in the oven.

The living room was smelling of meat all around in the air as Moyasu left for a moment to go outside to his balcony and take out a cigarette from his pack. He placed it gently into his mouth and lit it with a flame he conjured from the tip of his thumb before inhaling it's sweet and familiar nectar and blowing out a smoke ring before waving the flame off of his hand. He watched as the ring of smoke floated up into the air, soon disappearing from sight as it looked to join the passing clouds overhead, as he would stand there for a few minutes all while waiting for his pizza to cook. He could tell that this was going to be a sweet getaway as the smell of the cooking pizza was reaching him even though he was outside smelling the smoke of his cigarette. After a while his internal alarm clock went off as he flicked the cigarette off of his balcony, flames having engulfed it from his chakra infused hand and scattering away as ashes, before walking inside in order to open up the oven and pull out the cooked pizza from within. He would sit it on top of his counter with a rag in the way as he got out his slicer.

With expert skill and precision Moyasu moved the slicer across the pizza, the thick cheese and sauce moving aside as the sharp tool glided through it all, as he managed to slice about eight slices before putting it all in a clear wrapping and putting it in another plastic container. "This is going to be a good little picnic. Already got the tea made and ready to drink. Now am i missing anything... Ah right. Some dessert." He started thinking about what would make for a good dessert for spring as he looked around the kitchen at his remaining available ingredients and decided on making himself a personal cake. He gathered all the necessary ingredients and mixed them all together before putting it all into a cooking pan and placing it in the oven. It was going to take a few minutes as he sighed at his forgetfulness and walked out of the room onto the balcony once again. "Guess I can just have another smoke for now as I wait." With a flourish he got out another cigarette from within his pack and placed it upon his lips before setting alight a flame atop his thumb and inhaling the lit cigarette.

The calming yet chilly mountain air blew a breeze across the streets and buildings as Moyasu continued to enjoy his smoke while watching the people underneath his balcony walk along the streets gathering their items and foods from certain stores that hung around his building. It was a peaceful thing to listen to as he closed his eyes as he smoked and listened to the clattering and chattering of the people below walking along the gravelly road while enjoying their day and the weather that came with the changing into spring. Not too hot yet not too cold as the sun beamed down upon everything while the wind kept people chilled as they went about their day. After a while of smoking and enjoying the spring air he heard a beeping sound coming from back inside where the kitchen was located as he channeled chakra into his hand once again as the cigarette ignited and fluttered away in the wind as ashes as he walked back inside and quickly removed the cake pan from within his oven. He set it upon the same rag that he had used to keep the pizza he had cooked earlier from touching the counter as he got out a plate and set it inside a final plastic container.

After gingerly removing all the chocolatey goodness from the pan he set it inside of the container and got out a mixing bowl as he started mixing a few key ingredients in order to make the icing that he was about to slather over certain areas of the cake. He had made the cake to have a couple of walnuts in the fluffy interior which was going to give it more of that crispness alongside the overwhelming sweetness it was sure to have. After spreading the chocolate icing he had made all over the cake he then remixed a few more ingredients and placed a few well decorated dollops of vanilla icing along certain spots of the cake. "This'll be a good one... Hopefully. Not really all that experienced with baking but as long as I'm the sole experiment tester it shouldn't be too much of a problem." With that he closed up each plastic container and put them all into a bag before he walked over to his sink and washed his hands in order to clean them of the cake batter that had gotten onto them. Afterwards he got his keys and picked up the bag before stepping out into the balcony.

After he stepped out onto the balcony he would go ahead and close the door behind him before using his key to lock the door and hop up onto the roof of his apartment. He looked around at the mountain peaks, trying to think about what would make for a good spot for a picnic as he thought about where he could go that was away from all the mountain winds. He knew more than likely, being the case that he lived up high in the mountains, that the winds might get to be too much to handle for his food and items. 'If I'm not mistaken I once heard that there's a cave with a view inside one of these peaks. That sounds like the perfect location to keep away from the wind.' With that he started running and hopping along the rooftops while making his way quickly towards the location he had been made aware of. He weaved around chimneys and A/C units as he kept his package close in order to keep the contents from shaking around too much. It wasn't that far of a run so he wasn't all that tired once he had made it to the side of the mountain in question.

Now that he had made it to the mountain in question it was time to scale it, his feet channeling the chakra necessary to make such a trek with ease, as he continued to keep a good and protective hold over his food and items while running along the side of the mountain looking for the opening into the cavern in question. He kept his breathing controlled while keeping his eyes peeled, the low bearing clouds parting as he ran along the mountain's peak, before he finally found the opening in question and fell onto the ground from atop the ceiling of the cavern to find that there was steam coming out from within the cavern. He looked around to find that there were small pools of hot water, some of which were boiling hot but others that were right by the cavern entrance that looked safe to enter, as he couldn't help but smile at his luck at finding such a sweet location. He looked out of the cavern entrance at the sun that was approaching the horizon as he sat between two of the hot pools and got out his items in order to get everything set up for the picnic.
