Free falling

Komon was flying high above the clouds of kumogakure, and from here he understood the name of the village hidden in the clouds perhaps more than he ever had, not a single crack of the village peered through the thick white clouds. He had recently gotten used to flying, the motions were no longer rash, the wind force no longer surprised him and he rarely felt like he was going to fall off. It was all becoming natural to him, which was good considering he planned to use this jutsu often on missions.

As he looked at the position of the sun he noticed that there was only a couple more hours of daylight left, and decided that he should probably land in order to train on something else for the day, focusing on one aspect and only one aspect was hardly ever a good decision, so he’d manipulate the chakra in his drawing, forcing its wings to hold still and sending him into a gracious glide across the sky and through the clouds, which gave him a rude awakening, he had been unaware clouds where wet and had come out drenched, perhaps if he were his hozuki brother Komori he would have enjoyed such an event, but he had never been fond of water himself, instead he was just cold and wet.

Regardless he continued flying downwards until the ground came closer and closer, his birds feet finally touching the surface of the earth in Komon’s usual training ground. As he did so he activated his byakugan to see if anyone was around and narrowed in on a small chakra signature just south of him, by about 50 meters. And to his surprise he recognized it, “Sakana? What are you doing out here” He’d say while dismounting from his bird.

As Komon got off his bird he realized the gennin must not of heard him over the flapping of the slowly descending wings as he had not replied, with the bird still standing there but no longer in a loudened state as it was staying still Komon once more asked the gennin what he was doing here before turning to release the ninjutsu, and watching as it dissolved into nothing, then once more turning again to face the boy, and listening diligently to his answer before saying.

“Well if you want we can keep working on that ninjutsu I was teaching you the other day, maybe we can actually draw the birds this time, upgrade you from that line. Sound good?” He’d say with a smile on his face, before walking over to the boulder a couple feet away from them and taking a seat.

“Alright” Komon would say before pulling out a sketch pad, “Before we start on the jutsu we should probably make sure you can accurately draw a hawk, the things you need to focus on are wingspan and weight distribution so that your hawk can actually take off, for one if the wings are too short you won’t be able to take off as the large body won’t have enough support, and if you make one wing longer than the other you will be flying sideways, as one will create greater strength than the other. It’s all about distribution, remember that.” Komon would say as he drew a hawk with a normal pencil onto the sketchpad. “When you get it down we can start with the actual ninjutsu.
Komon would finish his instructions before tossing the recently used pencil through the air to the meijin. “Here, come give it a shot” before sticking two fingers up and wiggling them in a motion signaling Sakana to approach the sketchpad.

Komon gave an awkward smile as he looked at the wing, Sakana was not a gifted drawer to say the least. “Uuuuuuh, how about we give it another shot, but this time work on your strokes, some of your lines are thick where they shouldn’t be and thin where they shouldn’t be as well, keep working on it and you’ll get it down, give it one more try and then we will move to the actual ninjutsu, I feel like you’ll have it by then he would say as he began strapping on his new painter set, Sakana was now the owner of his old one so he had recently purchased a new one. With that he’d begin to rise from the boulder and look over Sakana’s shoulder watching much more closely than the last time and prepared to give him any pointers along the way.

Komon watched for about the first 5 minutes but when he realized sakana was going to take a while he made a small bedrock coffin rise from the ground using it as a bench so that he could sit comfortably while spectating Sakana’s progress, it took the kid about 20 minutes to finish his drawing which Komon found irritating but not wanting to discourage the boy he would show no signs of such feelings.

Finally he finished and Komon let out a smile, yeah it looks great. You should practice that so that you can do it quickly even in combat. Now let’s move onto the jutsu, just with like the line you’re going to have to draw it onto your shinobi painter set and then you can use the infused chakra to rip the drawing off of the paper, but you're going to have to focus on making sure your chakra stays balanced just like your strokes, too much chakra in one area will cause the ink to spread disproportionately.

Komon would then demonstrate by creating a bird and unevenly adding to much chakra to the wing, making it leap from the page he would watch as the wing bulged and exploded unable to sustain the amount of ink that had followed it. “Without balance your bird can’t function” He’d say as he wiped the ink that had splashed at him off of his face.
