War Preparations - Page 2 Empty Re: War Preparations

Fri Mar 17, 2017 6:02 pm
OOC: Ignoring Sora’s comments about from Academy Student to Jounin as he never knew Senshi as an Academy Student or a Genin, thus he was metagaming.  Which means none of that paragraph should count towards his words.

Senshi blinked as Sora took off running away from him, that boy needed some serious adjustment if he was ever going to rise in the shinobi ranks. Not only did he forget a lot of things but this was the second time that he had run off with an excuse. It was almost as though he didn’t want to be around his sensei. Not that it really bothered Senshi too much, he was rather preferencial to being alone. And he was not especially good at handling children like Sora at all. He was generally far too harsh on them, and it led to situations where he expected too much out of them. He expected as much from them as he expected from anyone though.

He would never put the pressure on someone unless he also put that pressure on himself. Sora simply needed to learn that Senshi wasn’t going to play any games. He was going to treat the boy like a shinobi, and the adult that he was supposed to be once he had earned his headband. If he couldn’t accept that, then he should simply quit as a shinobi because he was worthless to Kumogakure if he kept acting like a child. Kumo needed warriors, professional warriors. The way Sora acted, there wasn’t anyway that he was prepared to be a chuunin. There were times when he wasn’t fit to be a Genin in Senshi’s eyes, what with the way he acted a lot of the time.

Conversations with others had confirmed that Senshi needed to be hard on the boy, because nothing else was getting through his head. Senshi wouldn’t be surprised if he failed out of his Chuunin Exams, because of a lack of ability to forward think, letting his emotions guide him too much, and just general immaturity. Genin were leaders, in the sense that civillians and academy students looked to them for assistance. With his attitude on the two D rank missions and the way he had treated Niran, Sora had proven that he was not ready for a leadership role. Chuunin’s were leaders of shinobi, if Sora couldn’t manage to be a leader of students and civillians then he was most definitely not ready for the Chuunin rank.

Something that Senshi would ensure was noted in his file, since he didn’t intend to put any shinobi in danger so long as Sora was acting so immature. If he couldn’t even remember such things as times to report and yet he wanted to sit in a training field wasting all of their times whining and complaining about things then Senshi was secure in his knowledge that the boy was not ready for the next rank. If he had the choice he would probably have temporarily demoted the boy to teach him a lesson. Spending some time back in the academy learning how to act would probably be a step in the right direction. Senshi knew several civilians and academy students younger than Sora who acted much more mature than he did.

With an annoyed sigh, Senshi decided to table his thoughts on the issue for now. He could find out how to handle his irresponsible and immature student later. For now he would just let Reizo know what was going on, and to know that not only would he need to watch the boy carefully but that he would need to guide him with a firm hand. Sora was too likely to make a mistake an endanger lives if he wasn’t watched carefully enough. IF that happened Senshi would be forced to kill the boy for endangering the lives of his comrades like that after he had been lectured numerous times on the issue. With another annoyed sigh Senshi regained his composure and decided to focus on the chakra barrier technique.

He had been intending to learn this technique for awhile, partially because of what had happened to Max during that disastrous C rank, but mainly because it was a step in a direction he had been intending to take for awhile now. His study into seals that enhanced the bodies had mentioned this technique and he felt that learning it would prepare him better for those sealing skills that he would eventually needed. As such he had done a certain amount of studying into it as well already, he just had not found the time to commit to learning the technique just yet. Now that he had some free time, and Sora had explained it, expounding more on the knowledge he had already built up Senshi knew that he would not find a more perfect time to learn it.

Closing his eyes he began to go over the basics of the technique that he had read about. It required four hand seals, though it hadn’t specified which hand seals. Which meant that the technique was based far more on intent and that the hand seals were simply a way for the user to focus their chakra more efficiently. He would need to think on protective types of properties, especially those types of things like poisons. Since the barrier was said to also be capable of protecting the user from poisons, Senshi knew that it was an even more important thing to learn. He didn’t have any true defense against a poison just yet and this technique would serve as his basis for that as well.

He had yet to really encounter anyone who had used poisons as an attack yet, but he knew that it was an easy thing to learn. Just from the basics he had been learning with his medical techniques had shown him that much. Poisons were extremely dangerous in the wrong hands and Senshi had no intention of falling victim to someone who used them. The Chakra barrier also had the added benefit of being able to be used to protect someone else as well. He could place the barrier over another person, or even if he so desired, an object. Being able to provide that level of protection was going to be an invaluable resource to his end goal as a shinobi.

Since he had become a Genin, Senshi’s entire goal as a shinobi was primarily in a support type of function. While he was a weapon specialist who excelled with the sword in close range fighting, his preference was more to attack from a range. While he attacked from range having someone, like his teammate Reizo, to attack up close. Either his weapons would distract the opponent and allow the close range fighter to get a hit in, or the close range fighter would distract the opponent and his weapons would land solidly on them. Killing them for the village that he so desired to protect. Frowning slightly, Senshi wondering if he could place the barrier over his weapons to assist in protecting them.

He figured that it wouldn’t work, because if the barrier was covering them while it would protect them from damage and make it harder to break them, it would also completely cover the sharp edges. They wouldn’t be able to have the piercing damage that they had prieviously. While on Gureto that wasn’t entirely a bad thing, since he could just use the massive sword as a battering ram instead, on smaller weapons like Kunai and Shurken that wasn’t a good idea. They didn’t have the size in order to make them good blunt type of weapons.

Plus this technique was known to use a lot of stamina and chakra in order to create, in most cases adding that barrier to his weapons would not be a good idea. Still it was something he may consider when it came to Gureto or even his Danto Suroi Dango Daggers. They were both rather expensive items, and he didn’t always need their sharpness so much as he needed their abilities that had been built into them. If he protected them from damage it wouldn’t hinder their abilities in the slightest. Just as when the barrier was applied to a person it didn’t interfere with their ability to attack. That was another thing he was going to need to keep in mind when he went to attempt the technique.

It worked similar to a two way mirror. Things would not be able to enter it, but they would be able to leave it at will. If he wasn’t careful he could end up creating a barrier that worked both ways, and then he wouldn’t be capable of attacking people effectively. That was not something that he could accept, for he could not limit his meager offensive capabilities just to increase his defense. Very rarely was a defense strong enough to offset the amazing offense that so many others could use. Senshi lifted his head slightly and began to stretch his arms as he continued to consider the technique. Sora’s explanation on it, was very similar to what he had read up.

It actually hadn’t included that much more to it, to be quite honest. Another bad point in the boys docket would need to be marked. He needed to learn how to better explain techniques, not just quote what came out of a page in a book. Also a physical demonstration of it would have been more useful, any good teacher already knew this. Shoot, any good academy student knew this. They were often taught by being given physical examples of a person using the technique. Senshi also knew that he had show Sora how to be at least a semi decent teacher when he had shown him some basic seals. In every instance he had shown Sora how the seal worked by doing it himself, before having the boy attempt it.

A physical demonstration, along with an explanation on the technique was the best way to teach something new to a person. With an annoyed sigh Senshi focused back in on his training, he couldn’t afford to allow himself to be distracted by how annoyed he was with Sora, his wayward student. Was it possible that the powers that be had given him Sora as a way for him to learn to teach someone who was, as Senshi would like to put it, unteachable. Maybe they were attempting to show him how to develop more patience and deal with people that he found intolerable. It was always possible, after all, the majority of the people he interacted with he got on with decently.

This was probably their way of ensuring that he could maintain strict emotional control and still teach someone that he didn’t get along with. Shaking the thoughts of he focused back in on his own training. Bringing his hands up he thought through the seals that would make the most sense to use. Dog, for his lightning affinity. Then Ram, it was an easy transition and was relevant to a lot of techniques. Bird, for the wind affinity he had developed, and also because it would be his focus for blowing back any poisons that came at him. Using the lightning as a protective property and the wind as a poison filtration system. His most defensive element however was water.

Forming the dragon hand sign, he would tie his water element, and the hand sign of power into the technique in order to make it as powerful as possible. Dog, Ram, bird, and finally dragon to end it all out. With the image of what he wanted in his head he finished the hand signs and then smacked himself on the chest. Before him, barely an inch off his skin he could see an almost rainbow colored barrier. Deciding to test it he tapped it with as much force as one finger could muster. He watched as it wobbled precariously before stabilizing again. It wasn’t particularly powerful but it would do the job for now. Plus it was a step in the right direction for where he wanted to go. With a sigh he turned and headed back towards the village, he had a couple more things to study after all.
