Climbing Like a True Ninja

Surface Walking
Odin spent several hours standing on top of the academy building. He pondered his life, thinking back and evaluating his mistakes and choices thus far. He dug into the satchel he carried by his hip, still lost in thought. He had taken several notes of jutsu he could learn while he waited for the genin exam to have an opening for him.
He wanted to leave an impression, so he continued to try and learn as much as he could until then.
He flipped through the scraps of notes he sloppily held in there until he found one that he could have used a long time ago. He put the rest of the scraps of paper away except for the one that caught his eye immediately. He sucked his teeth, cursing himself for overlooking this one before he decided it was a good idea to scale the building the hard way.
The note read:
"Tree Climbing/Surface Walking Technique. Young ninja begin learning chakra control with by performing this jutsu to climb surfaces and walk on water."
(No hand seals were needed for this jutsu) he thought to himself this was going to be a simple one to master. He didn't think about a way to get down from so high without hurting himself.
"Might as well make this fun," his smirk appeared yet again.
He closed his eyes, concentrating yet again all his chakra to come to his center. After a few moments, he let his thoughts go blank. He felt the wind swirl around him. He felt like it was a signal from nature to start.
He pushed the chakra downward, feeling his energy swirl like the wind did, around his legs. His hands stretched out as he pushed the chakra further down his legs to his ankles. His hands went downward, his knees bent in response. He felt the chakra dance around his feet. He stomped on foot down, feeling the chakra underneath it. He followed up by doing the same thing with the other foot, feeling a familiar response as well.
"I'm ready," his eyes opened with fierce determination. The feeling he felt here would echo into the future of his ninja life.
Without hesitation, he stepped onto the ledge of the academy. He thought for a moment before continuing. He turned around, using his hands to let himself down cautiously. He made sure he had a good grip of the wall as he pressed both feet onto the wall.
(If this fails, I'm going to need more than just a simple medical jutsu to fix what I'm going to break) he laughed to himself.
He decided to regret the decision later, he wasn't worried about the what-ifs. He let go of the balcony, thinking he was going to plummet to a painful end.
Luckily, his body didn't budge an inch. He felt like the wall was the ground below him. It took him a moment to balance himself out but he felt study enough to descend downward. Each step felt uneasy to him, as he lifted the foot off the ground, gravity tried to take hold of him. He resisted the sudden falling feeling, making contact with the wall.
Each step became increasingly easier for him as he went from cautious steps to a brisk walk.
To his surprise, he was already a step away from reaching the ground.
This wasn't enough for him. He had to step it up in order to actually accept that he was going to master this simple jutsu.
He pivoted his feet, turning around, feeling the pull of gravity longing to bring him backwards. He maintained his balance before he continued.
He hunched forward, touched the wall, and propelled himself upwards, coming to a full speed run up the academy wall. He noticed he was picking up speed with each lunge. Once he reached the top, he did what he did before, pivoting his feet to face the opposite direction.
He knew this was it, the final test to master this jutsu. He sprinted down the training academy building. His plan was to continue running in a straight path, out of the training grounds, no matter what was in front of him. He picked up stride as he flung himself forward. When he met the ground, he simply pushed off the wall, landing one foot on the ground, not breaking speed when his second foot came down. It almost felt too natural for him to do this his first day of training.
He raced forward, running full speed toward the other side of the training ground. A huge wooden fence that surrounded the training ground blocked his path. He felt his chakra redirect to his toes as he approached the wall. He jumped toward it with one foot in front of him to catch himself on the wall ahead. In two long strides, he propelled upwards, on top of the fence and flung himself over.
Who knows how far he ran that day.
