Final checks, buckle up buttercups
Sat Apr 01, 2017 8:54 pm
It had been awhile. He looked over the city of stars, wondering what might have been had he never left this place. Had he never had one final idea for something to do. Had he stayed in a gazebo all night, just singing. Had he invited someone back to the kitchen, made her one more meal. Had he not been Maku, all these things would have been possible. Maybe he could have even made someone other than himself happy. He was Maku however, and inside he knew these things would never happen. He wanted more, he didn't know why he wanted them but he did.
The blood, the struggle, the fight, victory, a legacy......each of these things. He wanted them so much, without any reason. He had been born to nothing, he had come from nothing, yet now he stood on the preface of everything. The coming days could signal many things, and decisions right or wrong would all come to a head. Many would die, many more would live, and still more would tell a story. Would it be his, or another's? Would it be tragedy or victory. The winds continued to shift and swirl with indecision. It smelled of sulfur, and unease. His blonde hair moved with it, often clouding his vision.
While in hoshi he had left a single letter addressed to the one in charge. In it he mentioned his entire plan, though. Or his name. Instead opting to sign as Youka Tau, Mortarion, Kage of Kumogakure. His friend surely wouldn't mind???? Well maybe he would, but Maku was confident he was indisposed.
In the letter it listed out exactly what he was about to do, what the army had done. It listed that the world would know that Hoshi and Kumo were allies and in the interest of self preservation honoring an alliance would be in its best interest. It also listed that he would not shelter this fact and if questioned all of his men where conditioned to explain how they had received resources from Hoshi for the impending assault.
This last bit was half true. His contacts from when he had run the underground had made him well stocked. A runner dispatched to meet with the rest of the army to detail the location. All manner of supplies left on the boarders hidden as a caravan looking for trade. Enough to supply and replenish what the ones behind him would bring.
His entrance and exit from Hoshi had been a matter of hours. His clear knowledge of the city allowing his teleportation skills to leave him undetected.
Finding himself on the boarders now, made his way towards Suna. A place unfortunately he had not been, rendering potentially his greatest ability null. All the same, he traveled quickly, outstripping the main army and ensuring he would arrive first. Which was fine with him. After all, unless some of them stepped up, they'd just get in the way.
