It did not phase her one bit that he had refused to expand on what “it” was. However, Reizo was kind enough to be vague about the whole situation. Well, okay. Not exactly “vague” as the term “human weapon” was quite a huge thing in any village. It just so happened he couldn’t tell her exactly how he was such a thing, only that he was a very important asset to the village. The only thing that rankled her feathers was because she was a genin, a low leveled shinobi that was prone to leaking pertinent information. It was understandable, she told herself, but the girl hated not being able to be relied upon. Either way Saya could only nod her head in acknowledgement, showing that she had understood the severity of why she wasn’t allowed to know any of the details.
Reizo, after being healed by her, shifted his place so that he would be sitting next to her in order to illustrate the technique he was going to teach her. Saya unwittingly stiffened at the close proximity. She hadn’t intended such an action, but her body was still feeling the effects of his vicious backhand. Wiggling her nose and focusing on his small lecture. It was a lot of information to take in, but Saya was nonetheless excited by the prospect of another high leveled jutsu. It would definitely help with her arsenal of whatever build she was going towards.
After listening to the blonde, Saya tried to internalize the information. Organize it in a way that only she could understand. Fortunately for her Reizo had done a great job in breaking it up into manageable chunks for her to dissect through. The first part, as he had mentioned, was how it was similar to a Hyuuga’s byakugan. She inhaled and managed to turn her attention to Reizo’s upper shoulder; the poor girl still wasn’t able to look at him properly in fear of looking into those green and yellow colored eyes despite having seen him with clear blue orbs.
For a few seconds that seemed to have spanned more than that, Saya suddenly realized that she couldn’t really differentiate his chakra like the Hyuugas did because there wasn’t anything to discern it from. That was fine with her though. Saya felt like she understood its short range aspect easily enough and would most likely be able to utilize it once she had mastered its other facets. It also didn’t mean that she shouldn’t try and get acquainted with his chakra. Even though the blonde had compared the technique to the chakra sensory technique, Saya was having a bit of trouble separating what was “sensory” and opening the Mind’s Eye. Still, she preserved until the tiny inflections of Reizo’s chakra signature was clear to her senses.
He had been right. Everything was absolutely clear, almost akin to drinking the purest of water. A horrible comparison but it something like that in her own opinion. Saya’s eyes narrowed, as if she was actually “seeing” the boy’s chakra. It was more of a feeling if she had been asked about how she could perceive with her non-Hyuuga eyes. The girl tilted her head slightly, noticing how the blonde’s chakra was a steady strum of energy. Kind of like a heartbeat…? No, no. A river or a creek was what she had meant. It flowed easily throughout his body like the major blood vessels that carried oxygen to every part of his limbs and organs.
Saya noticed that it was calm, not at all disturbed by the silence that had come between them. The girl supposed that she should really notify him of her success in opening the Mind’s Eye, but it was so fascinating that Saya wanted to stay a little longer to look at his chakra network. Wow. That sounded a bit creepy. That didn’t stop her from peering more into the energy that swirled in his body. A particular spot, however, had the petite girl cringing. The feeling that floated from the area around his shoulder was vastly muted, but she could still taste the malevolent aura rising from it. Was that the “thing” Reizo was talking about? The one that made him into a human weapon? Curiosity and instinct warred with each other. This was clearly something she needed to stay away from, but her greed for knowledge was staggering. Maybe just a little itty bitty peek?
She blinked and shook her head, stopping the girl from being swept away by her unhealthy interest in the beast that resided the blonde’s body. Once Reizo’s did some sort of “turning of the head” flicker. It was then that an unfamiliar dot registered in her newly acquired awareness. Delighted at having a new source of chakra to mule over, Saya tracked the infinitely smaller chakra making its way through the training fields. That thought instantly made her pause. Saya had always prided herself in knowing the chakra sensory technique, like knowing the maximum distance it can sense and how big of a chakra one needed to actually record itself in her consciousness. So, it surprised her that something so small had garnered her attention.
Identical to what she had done with Reizo’s chakra, Saya started scrutinizing the new signature. The reserves seemed small, at least compared to her own and Reizo’s. If her own supply of energy was comparable to medium sized river then this person’s chakra was a small rivulet. It was flimsy and transparent, not yet hardened or molded by extreme exercises. A recently graduated genin was on their way to them if Saya had to guess by their straightforward pathing and meager chakra reserves. Unfortunately, there was nothing else to really glean from the person until they arrived at their destination - namely, the training grounds littered with traps and fallen blades.
In the meantime Saya busied herself by trying to memorize Reizo’s unique chakra signature. He had mentioned that one could commit someone’s impression to their mind, and be able to tell where they are without worrying about distance. He could be all the way down in Sunagakure and the girl would be able to tell his exact location, granted they were within the same country. Even the ebb and flow of that person’s chakra would always be thrumming in the back of her mind. Was it wise to keep track of him? Saya certainly didn’t want to. Not after he… it, or whatever unintentionally knocked her back through a training post and into a bed of weapons. But since he was Kumogakure’s human weapon, wouldn’t it be prudent of her to keep an eye on him?
When the genin had entered the training grounds and stood a good distance away from the duo, Reizo’s chakra was permanently in her brain and now the girl would always be aware of his presence. Saya remained quiet as the two conversed, her interest only piquing at the contents of the letter being read aloud. An invitation for a party? In Hoshigakure? There was something about that that Saya wasn’t quite keen on. Why should they be travelling elsewhere to celebrate their victory? It should here, in Kumo, where they belong. Hoshi should be the one haulin’ their asses to their country, not them. However, she had no say in it. Just a mere grunt in the grand scheme of things. And it wasn’t as if they had been planning this banquet since February or something. Either way, that was none of her business. Saya was determined to remain in Kumogakure until she was assigned a mission suitable for her skills.
”Ah-buh, bwah?” Reizo’s request completely threw her off guard. Saya snapped her head in his direction, forgetting that she was trying to avoid looking at the chuunin. Instead of meeting the dreaded sickly green and yellow heterochromia, she was met with blue orbs. Ah, he wasn’t a beast. Reizo wasn’t that monster. Saya cleared her throat, ”I-I mean, sure. That’d be great. Yeah. I’ve never been anywhere outside of Kumo. Not even past the gates so this will be an interesting experience.” Woops. She had not meant to agree. Nor did she mean to babble away useless information. Saya wanted to remain within the confines of the brutish Kumo walls. But there was something about how earnest Reizo was when he asked to escort her to Hoshi. He really did want to make it up to her, and Saya was unsure of how to deal with his guilt.
”A-Alright. In an hour and thirty then,” she replied before he made a remark about her clothes. Well, whose fault was that?! Saya could only force a grin on her lips. ”It’s fine. I’m sure you’ve torn up some of your clothes too during training. I’ll just sew them up whenever we get back from Hoshigakure.” With his help Saya was easily pulled up from the ground. She glanced around their surroundings. He really did a number on the environment. What had once been a delectable area for higher leveled teams were now completely leveled. There were splinters of wood from the training posts scattered and hidden through the blades of grass that weren’t burnt to nothingness when he had gone rogue. It would certainly surprise anyone who had decided to come to this particular ground for some training.
”We should probably clean up a bit before we go,” Saya suggested before moving to collect her own weapons. There wasn’t a lot for her to gather since the girl didn’t have much money to purchase more. Once she had placed the last of her kunai and shuriken into their respective pouches, Saya stayed helped Reizo pick up what was left. It didn’t take long for the pair to pick up their respective weapons and items before heading home. Saya opened the door to her house, mind numb with the day’s event. Well, not even the day. Just the past hour or two had been more than enough to keep her mind racing for months. She mindlessly began to unequip all of her pouches and extra weight on her frame, leaving her in her tank top and pants. It wasn’t until that she pushed her arms up in a stretch that a sudden sharp pain had her immediately curling up into herself. What was that? Saya did a quick inhale and exhale, waiting for the last wave of achy-ness to subside.
Slowly, she unfurled her arms and checked them for any injuries though she found none. Her back and shoulders? They had taken the most damage earlier, but once Saya couldn’t find anything there either confusion was evident on her face. Reizo seemed to have been thorough in healing whatever ailed her body, but there was always that slim chance of missing something. Saya let out a sigh, knowing that she should hurry up and fix it before it became a problem. Heading to her bathroom and pulling the hem of her shirt up to reveal her ribs, Saya was surprised to see a dark bruise in the upper right quadrant of her body.
Raising her right arm she instantly felt the discomfort, moreso when she decided to breathe deeply to try and keep herself from throwing a frustrated tantrum. It only looked like a bruise, but those could cover up something serious. Like, say, a hairline fracture on her eleventh rib. Saya pressed delicately, wincing as she did so to make sure there wasn’t anything wrong with her muscles before concluding the source of her minute suffering was her rib bone. Immediately she called forth her chakra, alighting her small hand in its soft green hue. This was the basic medical technique that her mother had taught her earlier on in her ninja career.
The young girl had easily remembered how to close the barest of scratches, but this time it was broken lymph vessels and a hairline fracture. Saya didn’t want to use the technique she had just learned a couple of hours earlier since it ate up a lot of her reserves, and the only one she could plausibly use was the elementary medical jutsu. She supposed it was time to up the ante and challenge herself. Healing and guiding the delicate vessels underneath her skin was relatively easy, having good practice with the fundamental technique and overall knowledge of the human body.
Correcting and accelerating bones to get rid of hairline fractures, however, was a whole ‘nother matter. She swallowed, going over the information in her mind. To think about the whole procedure simply, all the medical ninja had to do was accelerate the production of the blood cells in that particular area so that they may clot and increase the amount of osteoblasts too. Saya’s lips straightened as she concentrated in healing her injury. The sensation was weird, or rather calming to her as she hadn’t really been under her technique with something potentially dangerous. Her chakra tingled as the bone slowly but surely mended together. To her surprise it didn’t take that long as she thought it would have. Probably five or ten minutes at the most, but who was she kidding, she wasn’t keeping track of time.
The area was quite sore, however, and Saya wasn’t going to abuse her techniques to make herself feel better. Besides, it was usually best for her body to heal on its own if time had been on her side. She checked the clock hanging on the wall adjacent to the sink and cursed. There was only an hour left before having to meet up with Reizo. Saya took a quick shower and started zooming around her house for essential items.
