Sparring? (IO, NK)
Sun Jun 18, 2017 9:17 pm
Fenrir was growing increasingly uncomfortable with the sudden number of unique ninja he was noticing. He didn't know what it was about them, but something made them stand out from the crowd as a threat, and he was unfortunately forced to admit that it was skill that made it so. They were threateningly good at what they do, some he would even say better than him. This meant he would need to make some sort of ally, or train until he would be able to beat multiple skilled opponents at once. So, he would search for such an ally, but until he found one, he would attempt to train until this point. Today was going to be the first B-Rank he ever trained, a Space-Time Jutsu, Portal. Using this technique, he would be able to make portals, big enough to travel through, around the fighting area. He could then use these for instant travel, or even long-range takedowns. This jutsu was also quite draining compared to his others, so he would need to use it conservatively, and he should probably use it well when he did. Upon his arrival at the training grounds that morning, Fenrir had been in a rather stormy mood, apparently quite uncomfortable with the subject of his thoughts. He didn't like the idea of him being able to lose the blood games, and tended to simply deny it, always believing that he would win. Killing was the only thing he was good at and if there was a competition for it, he was going to win dammit!
Taking his position in the center of the training ground, Fenrir closed his eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the eternal mist of the village on his face. Opening his eyes and releasing the breath, Fenrir was ready to train. He had pre-memorized the hand seals for the jutsu, Rat, followed by Hare. After this, he would point his right hand at the ground directly to his right. Focusing his chakra into his palm, he would begin to form a miniscule ball of energy, just an inch off of his hand, and even less in diameter. This ball would have a good deal of chakra in it already, more than his completed Immaterial Sword, even though it was tiny, and did nothing yet. Why was this? Because it needed much more chakra to do it's job, instantly transporting whoever hops into the portal over a good distance. Accepting this logic, Fenrir would then push more chakra into the ball, keeping it in a condensed form until it was to be used. He did rather well on this for his first effort, but ultimately failed, the ball exploding in a wave of force just strong enough to slam Fenrir in the face, rather uncomfortably. This caused a temporary lapse in balance that resulted in Fenrir falling flat on his posterior, hair slightly wind blown. It makes it almost worth it to be trapped in your head to watch you be an idiot. Almost. Fenrir had actually been wondering where Red had gone. He hadn't heard him speak in quite a while, and had grown used to his voice being the first thing he hears in the morning. Getting up and dusting himself off a bit, Fenrir also noticed the absence of Blue, and began wondering where they were, before quickly returning to his training. Blue wasn't important for survival, training was. Once again, he would form the hand seals, followed by extending his right hand and holding it solid with his left, ensuring no more cartoonish mishaps or shenanigans. He would continue this training until he was stopped by something or someone.

A random kick as a kid shifted and turned in his sleep woke Aota in the morning. Aota groans a little, and pushes the leg off of him gently, not wanting to wake the kid up. He gets up, and stretches in the room.
"Still a little dark outside, but enough time to get some work in at the academy. Kids should be able to take care of themselves today." Aota mutters to himself, as he makes his way out of the room, stopping to snatch his jacket off the kid who was using it as a blanket today. Luckily, the other surrounding orphn kids should be able to keep him warm enough, else Aota might have felt bad for the kid.
Putting on his jacket, he left the orphanage, and begun the run over to the academy, hoping to grab some training in.
He decided to take the long way to the academy, and by the time he made it, he was sweating from the run, and the first rays of the rising sun were beginning.
As he arrived, he noticed that someone got blasted off their feet, quickly making his way over there, he would offer a hand to help them up and state, "Are you okay, man?"
He notices that the guy was a few years older than him, and also a genin. He says, "I'm sorry, didn't mean to interrupt any training you had, just noticed that you were blasted off your feet, so I came to see if you need any help."
If the guy took his hand, Aota would help him get to his feet, otherwise, Aota would back away, being respectful to the genin before him.
"I'm actually here to get some of my own training in, so hopefully, I didn't bother you to much coming in here." Aota states, as he picks up a small rock off the ground.
"This is all i had plan on training today, though," he says, as he does the one handed tiger seal, and transforms the rock in his hand into a small cane. He grips it to test it, and it crumbles in his hands.
"Eh, need more practice with this. I'm hoping that this prepare me a little more in the future, never know when a small jutsu like this will help, and this could be the foundation for all the other jutsus i learn. Oh sorry, don't really know why I'm rumbling on to you. Just nervous I guess. Didn't really expect to see anyone out here to be completely honest." Aota would state, not even knowing if the genin was listening to him.
He would pick up another small rock again, and holding the one handed tiger seal once again, he would reform a rock section cane. He would test it out by grasping it, and grins. This time it doesn't crumble as soon as he grips it. He spins it around going behind his back before grasping it in his left hand and sticking it into the ground.

Ignoring the hand not out of disrespect, but due to being currently distracted by the boy's face. He was memorizing it, noting that he had never seen him before, not even in the village. This was rare, even with the lengths that Fenrir takes to avoid people, it is incredibly difficult to see and be seen. He was only a few years younger than Fenrir. He was also an academy student, judging by his lack of a headband in any form. What the boy did next did impress Fenrir a bit. He managed to go from being terrible at a jutsu to having it be complete enough to twirl around. He couldn't remember seeing anyone learn a jutsu that quickly, apart from himself, of course.
Determined to continue his training through the conversation, he would perform the jutsu the same as before, right arm extended. His left hand holding the arm steady to prevent any more blasts, he would speak to Aota. "You're an Academy Student, right? What's your name?" Who cares what his name is? He's in your territory! Tear him apart! Whatever you do, just don't do that, okay? We need you alive, remember? Ignoring the voices in his head for the moment, Fenrir would await a response. The ball that formed this time in his hand was larger than the last, almost an inch in diameter, and noticeably brighter. He also almost got it to the point of firing it, but at the last second it burst. This would be a wave of similar power to the first, but this time Fenrir was ready, and was simply pushed back an inch or two.

Aota shifted uncomfortably at the other guy's stare, taking a step back. He would toss the cane away as it crumbles back into earth, and reply, "My name is Aota."
He would hesitate and not give his last name, then almost as if there wasn't a pause, he would continue and ask, "What's your name?"
He would watch as the guy got back up, and braced himself. Aota would give the guy a quizzical look, and think, "Why is he bracing himself,"
He would gasp when the guy started to create a ball about an inch in diameter.
"Amazing," Aota would get out, before the ball popped, sending the guy sliding back a few inches. With that, Aota realized why the guy had braced himself.
"Ah, so he learned that if the jutsu popped again, he would be propelled back, andd he braced himself in order to not fall on his butt again. Makes sense," Aota would think, reasoning the situation out in his head.
Aota would sit on his haunches and then ask, "What are you trying to learn, looks impressive."
He would start bouncing on his haunches, curious as to what this jutsu was called, and besides making the user fall over, what its actual purpose was.

Smirking at the comment of amazingness targeted at his failure, thinking about how big everything seemed when he knew no jutsu. He also smiled a bit when the kid went through everything Fenrir had done out loud, almost like a parrot of Fenrir's thoughts. "Aota huh? I'm Fenrir, and I'm the only Space-Time Genin that I know of. The jutsu, if you could even call it that at this point, is Portal, a B-Rank Space-Time Jutsu that shoots out this little ball," Once again, Fenrir would go through the steps required to form this ball, Rat, then Hare, followed by an extension of his arm. "The example you just saw was a failure, for the ball exploded before I had a chance to launch it." After this, he would continue the example by actually launching the ball through the air. It didn't do much, only traveling a few feet before the energy inside exploded once again. "The orb is supposed to go up to 30 meters, and make a portal where it lands. Sadly, I have yet to get it to do this." That was Aota's question answered, in detail. Now it was Fenrir's turn to ask another question. Why are you sitting here talking to him? Just kill him! Pushing Red out of his head once again, Fenrir would ask, "What's your clan name? That's almost, if not more, important than your unique name." No one is watching! NOW! "I'M NOT GOING TO KILL HIM!" Fenrir would suddenly yell at Red, not quite realizing that he was speaking out loud until it was too late. Slowly looking back to Aota, he would quietly say, "Please ignore that and answer the question." He was worried that he might have spooked the student, and might have scared off the first person to talk to him in weeks. Apart from himself of course.

Aota would listen to the explanation of the jutsu, glad that the genin wasn't just blowing him off He nods at the explanation at the jutsu, wondering what the full result looks like whenever the guy got it down to par. Aota would pick up another rock and twirl it around in his fingers, then start tossing it back and forth until catching it in his right hand and forming the one handed tiger seal, forming the rock section cane again. He twirls it around in his hand, pausing as the guy asks him what his clan name was. He was about to respond when the guy exploded with a shout.
Instantly, Aota would stand all the way back up, stepping back and holding the rock section cane in between him and Fenrir . He would say, "Kill me? Why would you even state that in a perfectly normal conversation?"
He would step back another few steps, keeping an eye on him, now on his toes, alert to this situation. The guy asked Aota to ignore the outburst, and to answer the question, with which Aota would reply, "I don't think that is actually something I care to tell you, even without the outburst."
He would sit on his haunches again, holding the cane off to the side, preparing to react if Fenrir came towards him. Not wanting to seem aggressive, but not wanting to seem without his own defenses, he would glance at Fenrir.
"Hopefully, we can ignore the sudden outburst of you declaring you won't kill me. But realize I am gonna be on guard around you right now. I'm sorry, but that's just what my instincts are telling me right now. No offense or anything."

He had tried to cover up his reaction to Red's little suggestion, but it appeared that he had failed to do so, and that little slip caused a reaction in this new person. Now you can kill him. "I consider it better for me to shout that I won't kill you than that I will. After all, which would you rather be my intentions?" Hopefully this would be enough to smooth that over. "On the subject of fighting to the death," Now Fenrir would turn to fully face the other ninja, "How would you like to spar?" Fenrir hadn't gotten to really fight with someone in a long time, and he thought this was the perfect person to start with.

On listening to Fenrir, Aota would decide that he couldn't trust the way Fenrir was acting, so when Fenrir asked for a spar, Aota would simply shake his head no, and state, "I'm sorry, but I don't feel like sparring with you. Thanks for the offer though. Maybe another time."
Aota would turn away, and begin his trip back to the orphanage.

Upon hearing this denial of his request, Fenrir would frown slightly before turning away from Aota. Facing this new direction, he would continue his training of the Portal technique. So far, he had been entirely unable to even make the orb go more than a few feet before exploding, and it had become rather annoying to him. He hadn't even been able to get the damn ball to hit his target, let alone open up a portal through space that would allow him to instantly transport himself. All in all, at it's current level, the jutsu was worth nothing more than a light bulb, specifically, a light bulb that bursted after being switched on. So, once again, he would take up his position, forming the required hand seals, Rat and Hare, before suddenly freezing up. That kid had taken up a stance when Fenrir had shouted his little bit, which meant that he thought he could possibly have won such a fight. This brought a slight smile to Fenrir's face, which quickly faded once he remembered why he was really here. As he performed the hand seals again, the smile began to slowly return up until he released the orb, which once again bursted, this time about 2 meters from Fenrir. He simply couldn't get his minc off the idea of fighting now, Aota's stance had gotten his heart pumping and his mind racing. He wanted to fight something, and he wanted to do it soon. I told you you should have killed him when you had the chance, now he's gone. Maybe Red had been right, it certainly would have been much more fun than what had transpired due to his docility. Turning down the path that led back to the central area of the village, Fenrir spent the rest of his time searching for someone who would spar with him.
