There are many travelers along the borders, especially merchants moving there wares from country to country. Your job is to ambush and steal the merchants wares or their earnings if they have already sold all of their product. Do not get seen stealing or the contract will fail. - 500ryo
Sorethin moved through the night at a steady, yet quick pace through the foliage. The nearby town was centered near the sea and he needed to find a trader coming out in order to make some money for himself. He didn’t want the burden of trying to carry the trader’s goods. He could however easily carry money. Every missing shinobi could always carry more money. He continued his silent movement through the trees, the town was a harbor town with the sea on one side, and a small dense collection of forests and trees on the other. Our villainous thief was of course amongst the trees. He was searching for a trader who was leaving in the wee hours of the morning to go to his next stop or to go home after trading all of his stock. The traders pockets would be fat with money due to his trading. Sorethin would be ‘appropriating’ them of their money and maybe some of their supplies before leaving them high and dry Provided he didn’t just kill them of course. Granted that would certainly be easier, it left fewer witnesses too. He was still an unknown to the world. Granted he wasn’t powerful enough to warrant any kind of special reaction yet but he’d get there. One had to step carefully in their line of work and life after all lest step too far and everyone comes down on them. No, no he would kill the merchant. He couldn’t leave anything to chance. That was alright though, he had no qualms about killing, hell how could he given that he killed his own father? Most people might give him the benefit of the doubt for that seeing as the man had killed his mother but honestly? He would’ve just killed her too. It was at this point that he came to see a man stepping out of the village gates and addressing one of the guards.
“Heading out tonight, gotta get to the next down in the next few days to pick up some more product.” He’d tell the guard with a small wave. Good, that meant he had some money on him. After all he couldn’t get those wares for free. He moved silently through the trees and brush, not making a sound in the early morning of the day. Dawn was still a few hours off which gave him plenty of time to take care of business. He moved a little closer, making it much easier to see the man. He was of average height, nothing special about that. He was a little thin with a general build that suggested he should be a bit heavier set proving that the man barely got by on his wares. He could starve to death if he robbed him and took his money. That of course wouldn’t matter to Sorethin of course, but it was worth noticing. The man had sandy brown hair and moved with a quickness of step that most civilians would find a bit uncomfortable. ‘Wanting to get more product to sell so he could eat?’ The Snow haired Tau considered in thought as he moved. That seemed likely, and the most probable cause. If he were wanted the guards would have stopped him rather quickly so that couldn’t be it. Although none of this mattered, he needed to kill him, take his money, and move on with his day. Time was money after all, and he was wasting a bunch of it here.
As he began to move toward the kill an idea struck him. One that would allow him to let the man suffer through starvation and keep himself still unknown. Granted robbing a single man would hardly be enough for people to take notice of him. But he had to be meticulous about the small things. Otherwise they would build up and be out of control. So with this thought he went through the three hand seals he knew better than most other at the moment to become an exact copy of the merchant himself. He’d simply walk up and rob him of his money while looking like him. What would he say “Hey have you seen a guy who looked like me? He robbed me?” Doubt anyone would believe that. So with his temporary appearance in order he moved out of the trees and moved over to the man quietly. It was at this point however that Sorethin decided that maybe he could steal the man’s money without him even noticing. After all if the man never realized he was robbed that’d be even better wouldn’t it? He’d keep the transformation up just in case, but for now he’d simply slide the ryo pouch off of the back of his belt. So he quietly moved down closer to the man, standing about ten meters back from him, walking quietly while he slid out a single thread. He snaked it over to the man quietly and he very slowly and delicately slipped the money pouch off of the man’s belt. Before slowly bringing it back to him. He couldn’t afford to sling it back for fear of the pouch jingling with any kind of coin change that might be inside. So he would simply slowly move it back to him until it eventually reached him. He’d simply slide the small ryo pouch into one of the many pouches on his belts and then slip away, allowing the transformation to drop as he did so, the merchant never being the wiser.
As soon a she got far enough away he’d open up the pouch and count the money. ‘Only 500 ryo eh? Meh, every bit gained I suppose.’ He’d think before continuing on with his night. He had things to do and people to kill after all. The merchant would simply continue on before realizing he was missing his pouch. He’d probably double back to look for it before realizing it was truly gone. The poor sap would never be the wiser.
