Re: Train? Sore-thin! Get it?[NK, IO]
Mon Aug 28, 2017 5:46 pm
Sorethin would have been far too focused on his fire element heart to be able to really notice what she had done with her own training. He had been talking about the training she had done before. But he wouldn’t let her see that, as it stood though it seemed the little flirting game would continue. ‘Where will this go I wonder?..’ He thought before mentally shrugging and smirking over at her. “I have quite a bit more to learn as well, including that.” He’d say, pointing toward his heart. Which sounds like a horrendously cheesy pick up line out of context. But actually being kind of horrific if you knew what he was actually doing. “We can do a ‘sharing of technique’ later if you want, for now let’s focus on increasing our power eh? Unless you’d rather take a break? I did just accidentally surround myself in a hot tub..” He’d say with a shrug and a smirk as he gestured to the still bubbling water surrounding them. It was a joke of course, the water was nowhere near deep enough. But he’d wager it’d get a smirk, and hopefully make her think he was nothing more than a mindless flirt with a few decent moves on him. That way of thinking would only turn out better for him after all. So he wanted to nurture that in her mind as much as possible. Of course while they spoke and while he was thinking he would steadily be channeling more and more chakra into his wind element heart. Feeling the faded chakra pathways slowly come back alive as with the other two hearts. He would slowly knead the chakra into the pathways, feeling the beating of the appendage get louder and louder as time went on. It felt as if this would be a much simpler matter to do this time. Leading Sorethin to believe that it was simply the distinct difference between the fire element and the earth element that led to his difficulty in assimilating the heart.
With this heart being so much easier to manage it meant he could easily hold a conversation this time as he did so. With that realization in mind he’d turn back to the girl and nod his head. “This one seems to be much easier to manage, so I can actually maintain a conversation this time.” He’d say with a small shrug as the feeling of chakra became prevalent in the area. The adding of a fourth heart to his collection would make him stronger indeed, and allow him access to all but one of the basic elements. Oh how he needed a lightning heart. He’d simply have to go hunting now wouldn’t he? That’d be a simple matter of another time, for now though he’d continue training and consolidating his power. “So if I may ask, what happened to your eye?” He’d question in curiosity. Scars and wounds on missing ninja were common. But he’d find it interesting what put such a unique wound on the pretty young girl. If she answered he’d listen intently as he partially focused on her and also partially focused on assimilating the heart. While he could hold a conversation, he wouldn’t be able to do much else at the moment. The chakra enveloping the heart would be a whiteish colour, showing to be the wind element to those who knew that.
Of course he figured the girl might ask questions of him since he asked one of her, so he began thinking of lies to tell her so that she knew as little about him as possible. While also slaking her curiosity. As he thought of this a small pulse of chakra could be felt from the heart as he got a bit closer to the heart’s latent chakra being insync with his own. He could feel the pulse of chakra and noted that it was awfully similar to his own, meaning it was almost done. This brought a certain degree of excitement to him as it got him closer to more power. He’d simply have to find his last heart and infuse it and then he could learn almost any elemental technique he wanted. The power this would give him would be almost unimaginable. At this point though he’d snap out of his reverie and try to respond to Alice in whatever way required. One couldn’t be rude after all.

Re: Train? Sore-thin! Get it?[NK, IO]

She wasn't sure if this guy thought he was slick or was simply just a moron at this point. It was just cheesy pick up line after cheesy pick up line. Still, she was entertaining herself regardless of the situation. Nonetheless, she would give a slight smirk at the mention of a 'hot tub', knowing full well it was just a meaningless flirtation. After a moment of returning his focus to that creepy as ball of black tendrils, Sorethin mentioned that it was easier this time around and could hold a conversation. Great. That meant she actually had to talk to this idiot. And about her eye patch? How irritating. She contemplated the harm in telling him the truth for a moment, was it wise to do so in her line of work? Probably not. Instead, Alice decided to go for something a bit more....dramatic..as an answer to the query put toward her.
"Well, I've been doing this for a long time. After a while I realized it was easier if those around me didn't know the true extent of my power. Here, let me show you," she began with a short sigh, closing her eyes for a moment while she removed her eye patch. When it was completely removed and her eyes were opened once more, a crimson red figure began rising from Alice's back until it stood towering over her, ten feet in height. It's hood only revealing two feint crimson dots within it's immense darkness. A large scythe was tucked behind the figure's cloak, its blade wrapped comfortably in front of it's legs. A small lantern was held in the Reaper's left hand just below her waist. Several crows fluttered quietly around the figure's head and shoulders, adding an even more creepy and menacing feel to the display Alice was causing. The air around them became dense, a chill seeping into the bones of every living thing in the nearby area. The smile that adorned her face now was that of someone who enjoyed bloodshed, her killing intent made known to the strange man that dared to ask her about her personal life.
"I really suggest you don't try to dig into my past. As amusing as you may be, I won't hesitate to end this little meeting," she said, her tone colder than ice and the underlying threat plain as day. Depending on Sorethin's response, Alice would either replace her eye patch or simply kill him then and there and be done with it. Though, she was certain this threat would show him just how outmatched he truly was and decide against doing anything stupid.

Re: Train? Sore-thin! Get it?[NK, IO]

Sorethin’s query would be met with an interesting reaction. ‘A display of her true power? This should be interesting’ He thought as she reached up to remove the eyepatch. Suddenly his heart stopped cold. A great reaper stood behind the girl as a crimson light surrounded her. Eyes the colour of rubies were the only decoration on the reaper’s hood and a great scythe rested on the ground, wrapped around her legs in an almost protective manner. A few crows fluttered around silently adding to the visuals before him as the oppressive force of her chakra came down on him. This girl, no, this woman could kill him in an instant, she WAS the embodiment of death here in this field. Sorethin felt like he dropped a link on the food chain at that moment. His blood was frozen in his veins and it took every single ounce of his willpower to not break out into a cold sweat. He couldn’t show weakness in front of her, or he’d be a lamb to the slaughter. All of a sudden the display would cease, the reaper, the crows, the scythe, all gone as quickly as they had arrived. Sorethin’s breathing would settle down again and he would blink back his sigh of relief. The only sound in the clearing as that of his beating wind heart, slowly becoming more and more a part of him with each passing moment. All of a sudden she would speak, warning him against asking about her past. At this point he’d simply nod, barely able to maintain his composure.
That was the act he was portraying anyway. Of course his reaction to her display had been real, he wasn’t strong enough for it to not be after all. But it was the moment the display went away that his internal feelings changed to something very different. Something that might cause someone pause to think about their sanity in this situation. Sorethin felt excitement, he felt a rush of excitement take over his being at the power the woman had displayed and he felt excited at the prospect of a possible kill. He wanted that power, needed it. The craving for such spurned him on as he subconsciously focused more chakra into the power of the heart. The beating was much louder now and it could clearly be heard throughout the clearing as if it were ready to assimilate into him as the other two had. As he thought about the woman and the power she displayed something else would suddenly spawn within him. A different emotion that he didn’t usually feel or even portray. Lust? That was it, the feeling could easily be discernable through it eyes if one were to look. He craved the powerful, it would stand to reason someone that could demonstrate such power would invoke such a feeling. He’d push this down for now though, there was work to be done. The beating of his heart would get faster now as his chakra successfully kneaded itself into its network and brought it back into working condition. A breeze would blow through the area as the heart completed its process and the whiteish colour of the chakra would seem brighter somehow against the backdrop of the mountains and snow.
Sorethin would look toward it for a moment before raising a hand up, it was time to finish with this heart and add its power to his own. He’d take in a deep breath as the heart came over to him slowly, the loud heartbeat and chakra levels of the appendage clearly being able to be heard and felt by anyone near by. The wind had picked up considerably at this point, the heart itself appearing to be the focal point of the phenomenon. The wind would feel as if it were getting stronger the closer it got to Sorethin, the beating, louder. Was this foresight to his increased power? Possibly, but it was more than likely Sorethin simply felt it was getting stronger as it came toward him because it was you know, getting closer to him. But we don’t need to tell him that. The heart would then proceed to reach him the wind would suddenly stop of the bundle of tendrils were slowly absorbed by him into his body, the heart returning to it’s rightful place. An explosion of chakra would radiate from Sorethin for a moment before being controlled by the man. His body would begin to glow a multitude of different colour, red, blue, white. In all reality it was the different colours of elemental chakra that he had just absorbed in such a short period of time. He was having difficulty controlling it at this precise moment. The energy threatened to explode out from him at any moment as he drew every ounce of focus into himself. His body hadn’t had time to become used to the sudden jumps in power this would cause. A grave mistake on his part. He shouldn’t have been so foolish. Now he was fighting to control the wanton energies within himself. He took deep steadying breaths as he slowly managed to control the chakra fluctuations. The violent colour shifting of his chakra stopped as well and after a few minutes he would finally manage to get control of the situation again. He would take in a final deep breath and roll his neck, working out the kinks that may have set in from the stress.
At this point, he’d turn to the woman near him and shrug his shoulders. He had done what he had planned to do, but she seemed powerful. Maybe she could teach him a few techniques? It was worth a try asking. “That was what I had intended to do for now, but maybe the beautiful and powerful woman next to me might be able to teach my a technique or two?” He would say with a small grin. He had of course realized asking about her past had struck a nerve in the girl and he hoped the flattery would work in his favor here. If she could teach him things, then it would be more than worth it to have come here to learn instead of elsewhere.

Re: Train? Sore-thin! Get it?[NK, IO]
Wed Aug 30, 2017 8:09 pm
Realizing her little display had the effect she had wanted on Sorethin, it was plain as day the fear that she had struck within him. All the signs were there, his entire body trembling and the acceptance of soul crushing defeat behind his eyes. It was all so deliciously wonderful that Alice couldn't help but smile and replace her eye patch, the crimson reaper fading away from behind her. Nothing was said by him for the next few moments, wisely deciding to focus back on that weird bundle of tendrils, the last one remaining from his training thus far. That was just fine by her; she had already practiced enough on her swordsmanship for today. There were other things she still had to master, like her own creation: hiding in shadow. She almost had it down, if only she could just push herself a bit more she would be able to finally meld completely with the shadows around her.
Luckily there were still plenty of shadows around in this little field that she was in. Choosing the closest one to her, that of the little nearby shack, Alice walked over a couple of meters until she was standing on top of it. She made sure to keep an eye on Sorethin, though most of her focus was now on mastering this technique. Sure, her earlier display probably put any idiotic thoughts of attacking the girl at rest, but she could never be too careful in this area filled with murderous rogues and dangerous missing-nin. Now that she had decided on her next piece of training, it was time to begin. She centered herself now, preparing for the endeavor she was about to commence. As always, Alice began by focusing on the different types of chakra natures within her body. It had been so many times now that she could do this nearly instantly at this point. The whole ordeal began by her separating the water element chakra nature and putting it aside so as not to interfere with what she needed to accomplish. It was the easiest for her to do, considering her affinity for it. Next came her earth element chakra nature, that also took no time at all to do. Lastly, she separated out her yang change in chakra nature, leaving only the Yin nature which she used in order to activate the Nara clan's techniques. All of this took less than a second to accomplish before she was ready to begin practical use.
Slowly and deliberately, her hands came together to form four different hand seals consecutively, her fingers interlacing with each other masterfully. Bird. Ox. Dog. Rat. Immediately she could feel the jutsu being activated, her body being pulled down into the shadow which she was standing on. Slowly her lower body began to sink into the shadows, the familiar pins-and-needles-like sensation beginning to take hold of her starting with her toes. In all of her previous attempts at this she had never managed to meld entirely, only up to her knees. She had put a lot of thought into this technique between her last session and this one, finally figuring out the trick that would allow her to become one with the world of shadows. Before she knew it, she had melded all the way up to her waist, the shadows still overcoming her. In mere seconds she was completely gone, all trace of her chakra wiped away from the little training field as if she had simply vanished. It was odd, being entirely one with the shadows. Yes, shadows, as in more than one. It was obvious to her now, how every shadow was connected by this separate space. It was as if she now existed in a separate plane, one that existed side by side with the one that she was normally in. Everything around her was still plain as day, the sounds and smells of the surrounding area not diminished in the slightest. She was even able to see everything going on around her, noticing Sorethin still focused on his little toy. This would certainly take some getting used to.
She waited a minute or two, staying inside this world of shadows before finally deciding to release the technique and return to the normal world. When she did so, it would appear to anyone watching as if she just rose out of the shadow itself to stand back firmly on the ground. In reality, that was pretty much exactly what would happen. Smiling to herself, Alice decided that she could try activating the technique a few more times and maintaining it before crossing it off of her list of things to do. In the meantime, it seemed Sorethin had returned his attention to her, gaining the courage to ask her if she was willing to teach him any of her techniques. He seemed keen on using shallow flattery to try to get back on her good side, something Alice would gladly accept. After all, who was she to turn down a compliment? Smiling at the man, she thought for a moment on what she was willing to teach him. Surely not the manipulation of shadows, that was reserved for her alone and those of the Nara clan. No, not that. Luckily, she had a few other things that she was willing to part with, mainly water techniques that she knew Sorethin could probably learn now that he had seemingly adapted himself to the water element.
"Sure, why not," she finally said to him when she was finished contemplating. "Let's start with that water technique I used earlier to give you a better field to work with," she said, gesturing at the water surrounding them. "It's called the Water Trumpet technique. Basically, all you're doing with it is molding your water element change in chakra nature deep in your chest, condensing it, and spitting it out with an incredible force. Here, I'll demonstrate it one more time for you." Turning so that she wasn't facing him or anything else in general that might get destroyed by her demonstration, Alice quickly formed the Dragon, Tiger, and Hare hand seals before allowing a powerful stream of water to come forth from her mouth. When she was finished, she would turn back to the man. "The hand seals for this technique are Dragon, Tiger, and Hare. Go ahead and give it a shot. If you have any questions, ask me. Depending on what it is I may or may not choose to help you." With those last words, she would assume the man did what he was told and she would back away a meter or two so that she was out of any potential danger.

Re: Train? Sore-thin! Get it?[NK, IO]
Thu Aug 31, 2017 12:03 am
Sorethin would internally grin as his little act worked out and she didn’t realize how excited he was at the prospect of someone so strong before him. He would school that thought process quick though. He hadn’t shown anything on his features but that didn’t mean that he wouldn’t be accident. It was absolutely stupid to assume he would keep getting away with it and he was not a stupid man. He did however wonder what else he could get from her with a bit of acting. Of course given his lack of focus required to integrate this heart he still was aware of what she had been doing at the time with her training. It was interesting to see her working to fuse with her shadow, her body slowly fusing with the 2-D dimensional ‘portal’. He had found it interesting, but merely assumed that it was simply a clan technique that’d he’d never be able to learn himself. Which was fine, he’d still take the time to admire the girl’s body as she practiced fusing with own shadow. Hey, he was a guy, what did you expect? Of course he meant the compliment he said about her looks. Even if he was using it to try and get on her good side to learn more from the sadistic young woman. It seemed to work as well, as the dark haired girl responded with a ‘Sure, why not?’ and proceeded to teach him the technique she had used before to summon the water around them. She’d slowly go through the hand seals of ‘Dragon, Tiger, and Hare’ before spitting out a powerful stream of water once more. Sorethin would study the way she spat it out and the force of the chakra that shoved it out. It would undoubtedly be a useful weapon to him down the line so he nodded his head at the demonstration.
After she demonstrated the technique of course she would offer the ‘possibility’ of further assistance should he ask before stepping away to observe. He’d take a slow, deep breath before focusing on his water heart. He hadn’t practiced using the power from each one of them yet and so it took him a moment to make sure he could do so easily. He had half expected him to have to go through a ‘changing of gears’ if that made sense to use the elements he now commanded but it appeared it would not be required. This was good, he’d be able to use the elements as if they were originally his, which he could definitely put to brutal usage on the field. Especially on a psychological level when people saw that he could use more than just two or three basic elements. The usual number people used in the world. It would demonstrate prodigious talent, or a powerful bloodline. Which would cause people to be wary of him. At this point though he’d begin focusing the water chakra into his chest. Allowing it to build up the pressure he needed to perform the technique. The chakra would condense within his chest at a rapid rate as it was further pressurized by the will of the snow haired man commanding it. He’d proceed to begin performing the necessary hand seals with a measured pace, making sure not to screw them up as he went. ‘Dragon, Tiger, Hare’ He’d perform them flawlessly of course, as if his fingers had been doing them for years. Granted they had, but he was out of practice since he didn’t really know any real ninjutsu, merely a few low level techniques and abilities.
After he finished the hand seals the water based chakra he had built up in his chest would take on a more powerful, form, the pressure had built up until it was akin to a pressure washer and he opened his mouth and used chakra to push out the powerful energy he had built up to such a degree. Suddenly a large jet of water would fire out from his mouth at a high rate of speed. The technique would reach forward about ten meters before falling off and dissipating. The hand seals, the chakra, everything had been gathered and performed perfectly. With the exception of a single aspect. He had forgotten to use enough chakra when expelling the technique, and it cost him the additional five meters the technique was supposed to give him. This frustrated the yellow eyed heart thief as it meant he had to waste more time trying to get the technique down. That was fine though. He’d simply have to do it again. He’d slowly gather the chakra within his chest again, taking command of the force of a shinobi’s will again as it formed a ball within his chest. He would then begin compressing it, tight and tighter and tighter. This would pressurize it immensely based on what he saw, giving it the raw power and force it needed to cause the damage it required on those unfortunate enough to be in it’s path. He’d then proceed to turn his chakra into the water element. Imagining the ebb and flow of the chakra as he felt the shift in nature occur. The pressure was almost too much for to handle but he took control of it before performing the hand seals once more. Dragon, Tiger, Hare, the seals would come just as easily as before, formed much faster this time, but still woefully slow compared to more seasoned shinobi. As he performed the seals he could feel the chakra in his chest ‘change’ as it were. He could feel the conditioning it went through as the seals he used augmented and changed it based on the order and usage of the seals. He would then bring the chakra up and out of his mouth like a cannon. As he performed the seals he’d prepare to fire it out with his chakra as well, intending to truly use the technique as a ‘geyser’ if that made sense. The water pressure was strong and swift as the second coming of the technique from Sorethin tore through the air like a bullet. The water jet becoming a cone toward the end as it reached the end of it’s fifteen meter long journey. The spout of water would slam into a few half assed located rocks and stones that his melting of the snow had caused to show and they would be obliterated by the force of the impact as the water would not be stopped until it had reached it’s mark.
After the technique had been performed he’d look to Alice for a critique on how he had performed it. Of course he knew he’d performed the technique satisfactorily. It was exactly as she had done it just now for a demonstration. But he’d leave the final judgement to her. After she spoke, if she did of course he’d have a response for it he was sure but for now he’d simply want to know what else he could learn from the girl. One technique simply could not sate the lust of more power that Sorethin had it wouldn’t be nearly enough. It was this that caused him to have a bit of hope that she would keep teaching him a few more techniques so he could increase his power further. It was this reason that prompted him to actually ask her. “Are you willing to show me anything else Miss Alice? If so how much are you willing to show me? I’d hate to impose on you any further.” He’d ask and say with the utmost respect and politeness. It wouldn’t do to be rude, especially to someone that could kill him unless he got the drop on her first. After asking this question though he’d note the time, he had come during the early morning, when the sun had just risen over the horizon, and now it appeared as if the sun was halfway up the sky. That would denote that it was about ten in the morning. They had been there working for the past four hours. He’d wondered briefly if the girl was getting annoyed by his presence. If so it wasn’t like he actually cared, although he would need to if he didn’t want to die. But if she didn’t say anything then he wouldn’t assume otherwise. They still had a lot of sky left to cover before the day got late and that meant that they could still get a lot of work done if they were so inclined to do so. He was most definitely so inclined, so it would simply be a matter of if she was at that point.
He briefly wondered if the girl knew anything other than water techniques, but then surmised that it wouldn’t matter if she did or didn’t, as if she didn’t he was still being taught techniques at all and he could always obtain techniques for his other elements later on, and if she did it’d be extremely rude of him to ask, after all one never asked a lady her secrets. Especially those of a lady who could tear his throat out with absolutely no issue.

Re: Train? Sore-thin! Get it?[NK, IO]
Fri Sep 01, 2017 6:03 pm
It seemed Sorethin wasted no time in getting to work on the jutsu Alice had just demonstrated for him. Good. She wouldn't waste her time on someone who couldn't even follow simple directions; she would hold no one's hand. As the man started to work, so would Alice. She formed the seal and created a single shadow clone of herself. This time, though, she wouldn't be fighting it. No. The clone would be assigned the boring task of watching the creepy idiot and making sure he didn't hurt himself from thinking too hard while the original would stay in the back and practice the use of her hiding in shadow technique some more. She too didn't hesitate in getting to work. The black haired girl walked a little ways off to stand over top of the shadow of the shack once more and began to center herself like she had earlier. Again she began by separating out the different chakra natures within her body one by one until only the Yin change in chakra nature was left to be used. Her hands came together pointedly, fingers interlocking perfectly to create the four hand seals she would need to activate her technique. Bird. Ox. Dog. Rat.
Slowly, Alice's body began to sink into the shadow of the shack, as if she were being absorbed by the darkness. The feeling was still so strange to her, merging with this strange world of shadows. It was as if her body was a separate entity from her mind entirely, but still able to be controlled with no lag. Everything around her was clear as day, though nothing on the outside world could even sense her presence. She watched everything going on from her new position; it looked like a grey film had covered the world, all the colors drained away. It was clear to her now that this wasn't simply a shadow, but an entirely separate plane. Perhaps, a new realm entirely, one that only she knew of. It would certainly be worth it do research this later on. For now, though, she merely focused on maintaining this technique while watching her clone and the other idiot train.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The clone was impressed with how quickly Sorethin was picking up this technique. He was able to masterfully perform the technique after only a couple of attempts. For only learning how to manipulate the water element a short while ago, this guy was doing an excellent job. So good in fact, the clone couldn't believe that it wasn't actually the man's main element. Her arms were crossed over her chest as she watched, a serious look on her face as she refused to show her....pride?...yes, pride, in Sorethin's training.
Before long, he had completed the technique and was asking the clone if she would be willing to teach him anything else. Considering how prodigious he seemed to be, Alice was actually quite interested in what else he may be able to pick up. So, of course, the clone would say as much. "You picked that up fast. I'm impressed. I wonder how you'll do with this next technique?" the clone said, a small smile shining through her tough facade. The clone performed the clone seal, making an additional shadow clone of herself. So, a clone was making a clone. Talk about inception, whatever that was. "This is the shadow clone technique. It isn't like the basic one that only creates a sort of after image. These clones are solid and have a will of their own. With your skill level I doubt it will take you long to get it down. This is the seal for it. If you start struggling, feel free to ask me for help." the first clone would say, dispelling her shadow clone and demonstrating the clone seal for Sorethin.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alice watched from the shadows, quite literally, as Sorethin managed to perfect the water trumpet technique she had shown him in no time at all. It was truly impressive the way he picked things up. His intellect probably rivaled that of her own, just another reason for her to be wary of this kid. She definitely had to keep her eyes on him. Luckily she was in a place he couldn't even reach her if he wanted to at the moment, in this realm of shadows. She watched from her own realm as her clone took it upon herself to demonstrate the shadow clone technique, saying it would be the next thing for Sorethin to learn and offering assistance if he should need it. Good. She would have done the same thing in the clone's place. Well, she was Alice after all, even if it was only a clone.

For whatever reason, the white-haired man just seemed to be standing still as if he were paralyzed or something. His expression was blank, his eyes a bit foggy now like he was somewhere else in his mind. How strange it was to experience such a thing out of the blue. It was definitely not something she had run into before. Releasing both of her techniques, Alice revealed herself from within the shadow she had currently been residing in and her shadow clone disappeared in a small cloud of white smoke. The girl kept her guard up, ready to react to anything at a moments notice should she need to, as she approached the strange man. When she was close enough to touch him, she just waved her right hand in front of his face a few times and walked around him in a circle, examining the man for any sign of what might have caused this strange phenomenon. Finding nothing, Alice just poked the guy in the forehead gently, placing a mark seal in the center of his forehead while also trying to get any kind of reaction. Nothing happened. The girl then simply shrugged and searched the man's body for anything useful she might be able to find. There wasn't much, but she did manage to pocket a good 2,000 ryo off of him. At least this little meeting yielded something for her after all. When she was done robbing the poor fool, she just made the Ram hand seal and body flickered off in the direction of the inn she was staying at. There was no doubt that her speed would allow her to escape even if Sorethin had somehow woken up from his daze.

Why not? I understand why killing wouldn't, because killing a criminal would be a 'public service' but stealing is a crime regardless who it's against

It was ruled that robbing a mn doesn't count towards your rank up.
