You Should Have Left (p, nk)
Fri Nov 17, 2017 3:52 pm
"I'm glad I didn't leave with the group. I know the path we took, there are safe outposts where I can ask directions. I can purchase a map from a shop here in Hoshi. It wouldn't be unsafe for me to depart on my own." Satoru thinks to himself. He lays on his back with his arms crossed. His head rests upon the base of a tree and he looks out ahead of him towards the beautiful scene that is this village's water gardens. Around him, the grass is lush, soft enough to sleep upon. "So, I decided to leave on my own time. It's not that I like the people here or that I'm making friends. What intrigues me is the dichotomy of ninja and ant-ninja. One village, two extremely different views... Why doesn't it tear itself apart?"
This question and others, Satoru hopes to gain the answers to. But until then, he has resolved to remain here. Of course, this is not done without caution. His Kumogakure headband is left in his apartment at all times. His amegakure headband is carried only in his pocket. He wields no weapons so as not to seem like a ninja. All measures which can be taken to blend in to society are taken.
Has this been thought through entirely? No, not quite. But Satoru does not seem to wonder about the future here. Instead, his curiosity for this foreign place's inner workings overpowers his more intricate planning. This decision moves Satoru's story forward. Whether or not this momentum is for better or for worse has yet to be seen.

[The title's right, you should have left ;)]
Revan strode through the streets of the water gardens, they were certainly beautiful, and extravagant, a display of resources that put Yuki to shame, even at the height of its power, but it was also a sign of weakness, that these people thought themselves so secure in their power that they could waste money on something like this rather than preparing to defend themselves against the tide of war that was Kumogakure no sato... Speaking of kumogakure no sato, Revan saw an odd figure leaning against a tree in the distance, no more than a boy in age, but age could be deceiving, Revan had learned this the hard way when one of Kumogakure's 13-year-olds had decimated an entire battalion, and learned it again when a 5 year old girl had blown herself up to kill many of his men after luring them in with cry's for her 'mother' Revan scowled at the memories, but more importantly he scowled at the boy, he was only just starting to recover enough to sense chakra, but he could tell this boy was no mere civilian, moreover it was clear from his garb that he wasn't from around here, the clothes we're those of a civilian certainly, but they we're freshly bought, only a few days old at most. All these things on their own aren't big deal's of course, but what really gave the boy away was his haircut, Revan had only ever seen it on people from Kumogakure. 'A spy?' Revan wondered to himself, the last of the delegation from kumogakure had left weeks ago, Revan certainly couldn't think of any other reason why a shinobi of kumogakure would be here other than to act as a spy for the forces of his homeland. Putting on a false smile Revan strode up to the boy, "Ho there, lovely day to spend in the garden's isn't it?" Revan asked as he came to stand next to the boy, assuming he got a reply from the boy he'd smile and offer his hand, "The name's Ren" he said using a false name, after all there was no point risking giving a spy his real name.

A body walks forth and Satoru hears its approach. But, desiring to have as little care as possible, he allows his eyes to close in relaxation. Of course, any deviance from regular walking would be heard and responded to appropriately. Satoru would remain inert otherwise and only respond or show any sign of noticing the approaching person until he is spoken to. The boy introduces himself as Ren.
Turning his head and opening his eyes as a regular person would, Satoru responds. "Hi." And having given his name, Satoru sees it fit for him to return the action. "Ok, my name's Satoru. I don't know, I'm just... lying around I guess."
Not being the type of person to carry on conversation very well with those he is not well acquainted with, Satoru leaves his words as they are, short and non-insulting. Preferably, Satoru desires to be alone.

Revan allowed a distasteful look to flicker accross his face before changing it to a look more akin to confusion as he lowered his hand, terribly rude of the boy to ignore his gesture like that, but it was understandable if he was a spy he'd be loath to put himself in a position where he could be taken by surprise by a stranger, indeed if he had've taken Revan's hand, given the man's already substantial susspissions, he would have trapped the boy in one of his techniques and taken him somewhere more discrete to interogate him, all the same, the boy had given him his name, and that was more than enough to reinforce his susspicions, he certainly didnt have access to all the village's data on its ninja, but given the boy's demeanor, age and what little Revan could sense of his chakra levels the boy couldnt be more than a genin, a grunt who kumo no doubt didnt care about enough to provide him with any support if he was detected.
Revan nodded at the boy's words, thinking quickly he came up with a way to stay here without being too suspicious"Mind if I join you? I used to come here often as a boy, it been a while since I've been back to the village, but this is always where I come to relax, it's a beautiful view and the sound of water running in the background is wonderfully soothing." He said, giving the boy just enough time to begin considering his words before taking a seat next to him, facing in the same direction as the boy, looking out on the gardens. He would sit there in silence for quite a while, giving the boy an opportunity to speak of course, but more importantly making his next words not so suspicious. "So, Satoru was it?" he said nonchalantly, pausing for a second after his first word as if racking his brain to remember the boy's name. "Tell me about yourself, it's rare to find someone you're age enjoying the relaxing pleasures of nature like this, most people are more interested in rushing about from one event to another without stopping to consider what they're doing," He said, as nonchalantly as he could manage; of course if the boy cracked the silence between the two of them first then it was possible that Revan would have to change his tactics, but if the boy didn't then he couldn't exactly just sit there, he was after all only playing the role of a casually friendly man, and his true intentions were far from benign.

The boy named Ren lowers his hand and Satoru catches that motion. It is a habit of his to resist looking at a person directly or in the eyes. As a result, when in regular conversation with someone, he might miss an extended hand depending on the angle. At this angle, with Satoru lying below and Ren standing above, Satoru looks up but not at Ren. Instead, he stares into some space where he doesn't feel the anxiety brought on by eye contact.
Aside from this, seeing as how it has already happened, Satoru must apologize.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see your hand." His voice trails off as his mind thinks over what was said. What kind of thing to say is that? How do you miss someone's hand? To Satoru, it isn't very explainable. He is no social person at all, talking only because he is forced to by the circumstances. If he wanted to seem like an anti-social cast-out, he would easily do so by cutting conversations short and walking away. But he wants to fit in. For now, he must expend energy to speak to this Ren. Hopefully, it will be over soon.
He is asked if his approval is given for Ren to join him in this leisurely activity. Begrudgingly, he responds affirmatively. "Mmm-yeah." Later, he will think of some reason to leave.
Questions further follow directly afterward. This type of situation is the opposite of what Satoru wants to have around him. This person is either being quite friendly or creepy. And in Satoru's experience, this is usually a friendly thing to do, it gives the other person the sense that they want to know you better. In response to this, Satoru answers truthfully to all questions. What harm would it do? After all, Satoru will leave momentarily and likely have a low chance of seeing him again.
"Yes, Satoru. Full name, Satoru Nara." He responds. His clan name is not something he thinks very much about giving. Having learned about the Nara clan, Satoru knows that is most common in the village of Konohagakure. With Hoshigakure being quite far from the Fire Country itself, this location must see little to no members of the Nara clan. It is also likely that their knowledge of the clan in particular is limited. This is an educated guess.
The next thing said by Ren is actually relevant to Satoru's reason for being in this village at all. With nearly all of Kumogakure filing out, Satoru remains of his own accord. He wishes to rest here until he understands this mysterious village.
In response, Satoru delves more into his intrigue with this place. "Actually, I'm not from here originally. Maybe you expect this but, being a foreigner, I find this village to be full of qualities knew to me. I came here and noticed quite starkly that this village possesses a ninja force. Yet at the same time, the people are strongly religious. Still though, I have yet to see outright conflict because of this duality. I'm here because I want to know why. And, aside from that, how does one not fall in love with this scenery? You've seen the palace, it's gorgeous."
