Serenade Me [ YASUMI ]

Saya grinned at Yasumi’s positive reception of her singing and the song itself. Body alight with the fun she had just had, she did a sort of skip to join the older girl on the couch. Once she settled herself comfortably, Saya blinked at her question. Someone she liked? She wanted to laugh at the notion, but held herself back in fear of unintentionally offending the girl. However, a sort of mix between a giggle and a snort came from her.

Her shoulders shook slightly as she tried to compose herself. ”No, not at all,” Saya replied as she shook off her laughter and smiled at Yasumi. ”I don’t think… ” Her sentence trailed off a bit, unsure of how she might come off of to her. ”I mean. I’m not sure if I’m capable of feeling that type of way towards someone?” Her usual brunt way of speaking ended her comment with a question instead.

But just as she pitched her answer a familiar face flashed in her mind, making her wonder if her statement held any truth to it. Why did her face suddenly feel a little warm? And Saya felt a bit fidgety as well. She suddenly found her hands interesting to look at. Glancing at Yasumi from her peripheral vision, Saya asked, ”What about you? Have you found someone worth paying attention to?”

Yasumi would look at Saya and chuckle a little at her behaviour. "Well your clone the one you were singing to had a very specific look with the black hair and bicoloured eyes", she said with a wink and then looked at her more closely. Her brows raised and her excitement only barely able to hold back but an answer would be missing, still the face of the young woman was kind of showing a certain glow, maybe a short rush? Was there someone? She was not sure, but the next question had a clear answer. Had there been someone she liked. Her face blushed lightly when a familiar face came to mind. "I have", she nodded slightly. "I have just met him he is tall, dark hair, handsome and quite the gallant man. I once almost fell off a wall and he caught me and he even took me home and promised to meet me again, he was absolutely stunning", she would fall into daydreaming. Her cheeks glowing red and her eyes sparkling with excitement as she thought about it.
Clearing her throat she would look at Saya: "Sorry how embarrassing to fade out like that, but well I seem to be kind of having a crush on someone, but I am not sure if I even stand a chance at his love", she sighs and then looks at the play list again. "He does like music as well and maybe he will play for me with his instrument", she chuckled and looked at the list that currently seemed to highlight love songs for her. Crazy how the mental state could interact with her surroundings?

”Oh!” Had her clone really been that distinctive? Saya wondered at her own subconsciousness. She, honest to Kami, did not believe herself to have fallen for someone. It was so absurd in her own eyes and ears, but her actions stated otherwise. It further confused the young genin as she recalled how her clone looked. Dark hair and very pretty eyes. The clone did look like a very specific someone she met on occasion, but Saya refused to acknowledge the potential meaning to it. However, the kunoichi wondered about one thing.

”Bicolored eyes? My clone didn’t have that,” she said, finally turning to Yasumi. In the background, the karaoke machine whirred for a second or so before going on and playing a random song. It was a medium paced song - not too fast or dancey, and it wasn’t too slow or moody either. Saya wondered how the older genin could have come to such a conclusion before the answer hit her. It was quite possible that the lighting had altered how her clone’s eyes were seen. Maybe one looked more grey and the other took on the hue of a colored lighting. Yeah, that made sense to her.

Either way, Saya blinked in curiosity when Yasumi seemed to have gone into a trance. She listened intently at her story about meeting that person. It all sounded so… ”Romantic.” Saya stated afterwards. ”It really sounds like something out of a fairy tale.” The way they had met was something she thought only happened in stories. Not real life. But the way Yasumi spoke about not having a chance, that made the girl frown.

”You don’t think you stand a chance? Why not?” Saya questioned, waving away her apology for drifting off into a daydream or memory. ”I read in books that having common interests help boost a relationship.” She then said, hoping to comfort the girl.

Surprised looked Yasumi at Saya, did she only imagine the eyes? If so maybe she should worry about it maybe being the same or similar men? Her face got a short worried touch when she tried to remember but then she shook it off. No never ever would that be. "Well maybe it was the light then", she shrug and then chuckled at Saya saying it was romantic and she thought about it. Taking it into consideration it had a Cinderella touch to it. She the one armed peasant and he the dreadfully charming prince and she was hoping for him to find her shoe so they could be together. Her face lit up a little in a red hue and she shook it off.

"Yes a fairy tale, only that I do not have a fairy godmother to help me out, although it would feel like cheating if I use magic to change myself into something prettier so well I will have to deal with that myself. I plan on giving him valentines chocolate anyways, this will be disastrously embarrassing but still", she rubbed her cheeks and patted against them to try and cool them off. Her heart was racing while she thought about it.

The turning to that other question: "Well besides him being awfully perfect, in my eyes respectively, he is a quite skilled shinobi and while we do not seem so much apart in age he seems to be commanding some special forces and a quite close friend to our kage. He seems too perfect to kind of settle with a cripple like me", she looked at her arm and sighed, "This is indeed the first time I wished to be whole again so it would look more ecstatic is that wrong of me? I mean I do get along with it every other time." She would take a sip out of her drink and eat a bite of their snacks.

Then she would look over at Saya and smile: "Well at least we both like music, that should help me I hope at least, but I will now stop my whining because it won't lead me anywhere." She would scratch the back of her head a little.

There was a look that flashed across Yasumi’s face when Saya cleared the misunderstanding about her clone’s eye color. The older girl, if she was reading her expression right, seemed to be worried. That didn’t make sense to her, not until it hit her that their person of affection might be the same guy due to their similar physical traits. And if the younger girl was right, that would mean that Yasumi’s crush would also have dark hair and pretty eyes. She blinked at the revelation. That was… That would definitely add an awkward characteristic to their budding friendship.

Saya chose not to pursue the possible issue. She wanted to become close friends with the girl, not push her away with something as petty as “liking” the same person. It wasn’t as if she was even sure if she had a crush on anyone. Romance was a tricky and confusing thing for her, and Saya was not keen on letting that addle her decisions or her goals for the future. Instead, she leaned forward just a little bit more as Yasumi spoke.

It seemed as if her situation wasn’t at all in a great place. That made the dark haired kunoichi frown slightly. ”I don’t think it’s cheating if you were already pretty,” Saya replied. Yasumi was a natural beauty in her opinion and certainly didn’t need any magic from a fairy godmother. She, on the other hand, probably needed the magic and other things to help her along. Even if Saya managed to look decent, her inherent awkwardness and blunt personality tended to drive away potential suitors.

”About your arm, I don’t know if I’ll be able to do anything about it but I can always look up possible things to bring it back.” Medical jutsu was her specialty after all. There had to be something about reattaching or duplicating an arm. Still, it was an offer that could end up with nothing in their hands and just false hope. Saya internally winced at having realized too late that it might be a lost cause. Well, she couldn’t very well take it back now. Research will commence on the morrow. And, she smiled, at least Yasumi had something in common with him. That was always a plus.

”If he doesn’t return your affections or isn’t a gentleman about it,” Saya started as she waved an empty kebab stick, ”I’ll skewer him… ” Just then Yasumi’s words returned to her. Something about leading an elite team and being close to the Kage. Yeah, she probably wouldn’t be able to get near him. Pity that. ”... If I can. If not, I heard having a girl’s night out helps. We can do that instead.”

Yasumi seemed to be in deeper thought or reflection than Saya had thought as the older girl wouldn’t respond. She didn’t mind. If the young woman needed to collect her thoughts and gather more courage for her to connect with her special someone, she had no qualms in simply sitting back and acting as a supporting member. As she had learned from Max, Renji, Sakana, and other, that was what friends did. They supported each other.

A length of time went by, to which Saya was uncertain if it was seconds or minutes, but the girl figured it was time to head out. Smiling at Yasumi, she patted the girl’s knee in both a parting and comforting gesture. ”It’s getting late, Yasumi.” Saya glanced at the clock that indicated how late into the evening it was before turning back to the other genin. ”I’m going to go ahead and head home now. Thanks for letting me tag along.”

She stood from her seat on the couch and made her way to the door. Her hand gripped onto the knob before pausing and looking over her shoulder, ”I hope we can do this again sometime, and good luck with giving him those Valentine chocolates. See you around!” With those departing words Saya exited the room and the karoke building. It had been a fun night with someone new, another genin that she could possibly connect with.
