- Mission:
- Mission Name: Fishing for Trouble

Type: Pickpocketing/robbery
Character Requirements: MN
Mission Location: Country Borders
Word Count Requirements: 2,000
Repeatable? Yes
NPC? N/A

Task: There are a high number of upper-class citizens in the area. I'm sure they have something good on them... Want to go fishing for valuables in their very pockets? Of course you do.
After whatever the result of their spar had been, Yoru had swapped shifts with someone, who would probably result in being Kokai. For one, she was the second oldest, and besides, Sumairu was busy with his puppets probably. Either way, one of the siblings was up to be on watch duty, so Yoru was sure to approach Yorokobi in the cave with a proposition. “Get up,” he said to the Uzumaki. He did not pay any mind to what he had been doing, if he was even doing anything. Yoru would look towards the entrance while he began speaking to his apprentice of sorts, not looking at him. “We’re running low on supplies. We need to head into the nearest town in order to resupply.” Now he chose to look at Yorokobi while speaking. “We should travel in pairs, it will help keep you three safe.” Of course, he omitted his own well being, as he did not really care. He did not have much to worry about. Without waiting for a response, Yoru would leave the cave into the afternoon light.
It had ceased raining, finally. It seemed as though it would never stop, and instead the world would be submerged in a great flood of biblical proportions. With or without Yorokobi, the Jashinist would walk through the forest which helped to hide their makeshift base of operations. The clouds above helped to keep the day cool and prevent them from breaking a sweat. Before long, they would be back in the original fields where they had just met. If the Uzumaki had tagged along and decided to say anything about it, Yoru would reply accordingly, probably. Otherwise, he was comfortable traveling in silence. The black market was not far from there. That’s what caused Yoru to pause and hold his hand out, stopping Yorokobi. Did anyone see my face that night? He subtly looked back towards a no doubt confused shinobi. This is my second chance at life. At becoming who I was meant to be. I can’t let them know I’m a killer. Not unless it’s absolutely necessary. He would pull his hood up over his head in an attempt to hide his face. His hands found themselves in the pockets of his jacket while his posture changed from a natural confidence to more slouched and relaxed. Over the years, he had learned how to blend in, despite his white hair, and make himself hard to pick up on. He eyed Yorokobi, silently suggesting he do something similar.
With that, the two would walk into town on the main road. Yoru’s head was lowered, nonchalantly glancing around to spot any faces that may recognize him. He stepped over a red stain on the path - probably a sign from the other day. It was still too soon, why had he come out already? Was this the level of responsibility he was already burdening himself with? That’s when he noticed something.

Muji just wanted to find himself. He thought that the best way he could do that would be to track down anyone who knew his parents. All he had were their names. Two names to find across one country. Should be easy right?
The boy left out from leech lake to start on his journey. If leech lake was Pallet Town, Muji was headed to Viridian City, but to get to there he had to cross through Route One. Now there really wasn’t any monsters in the grass on this road but to someone who had just joined civilization for the first time it definitely seemed that way. The road was mostly desolate but the large buildings and road carts were enough to intimate the little kid.
After hours of walking the tired, hungry boy started to seek refuge from open road. The first place he came upon was a small run-down tavern. Today he would talk to people. He started to walk inside the door, he notice two things. The first being that everyone was much larger than him. And second being a wave of anxiety, he was not ready for this. How did you talk to people? What made for a normal conversation? Should he try and act big and tough or would that be bad? He decided the guy behind a wall of protection was probably in charge. He seemed to be a gatekeeper of sorts with a wall of glass liquids behind him. “Hello sir, I’d like something to drink please. I like that one.” He would say to the bartender, as he pointed to something he didn’t know was an expensive ale. The large man started to laugh, You’re a little young for that don’t you think? How about some water? Muji’s nodded confidently, “Water is good. I like water.” The two would talk for a little while, the little boy would tell him a version of the truth, that he was looking for someone who knew his parents, but he left out the fact about leech lake. He didn’t want any humans to find his home.
After he finished his water the bartender wished him well on his journey and said he hoped to find answers about his parents. But before he could leave an old bearded man sitting at the edge of the bar. “Hey kid, I know who your parents are.” Muji almost shot out of his seat, ] “You do? You’ve met them? Oh tell me, tell me, tell me, pleaseeeeeeee.” He should’ve maintained his composure better but he was too excited, but his excitement was quickly ripped out of his reach when the man said “Hold on now, this information isn’t free. I’ve got a job for you to do. Outside this bar there’s a person with a gold watch in their pocket. You need to get it from them, I don’t care what you do with the money but bring me the watch and I’ll tell you what you want to know.” For a second Muji was angry, why couldn’t he just tell him so he could move on? Was he really about to take stuff from another person? Muji’s loose morals were already starting to be compromised.
The boy started to exit the building, there a bunch of people outside. He’d have to go one by one. Now there was the issue of trying to get into their pockets without them knowing. The first victim was a female coming around the corner of the building. Muji saw an opportunity, he waited for her to near him and once he saw her he ran into her side knocking them both to the pavement. Cute kid not paying attention to where he was going? Perfectly believable. Everything needed to happen in rapid succession, she hit the floor, he hit the floor a few seconds after, once he was on the ground he slipped his hand into her pocket. A few ryo but no gold watch. Once they stood up he acted hurt, teary eyed and almost ready to cry. The woman bought the act, “Oh I’m so sorry, are you okay?” Muji put on a sad face, “I’m… I’m okay. I have to get going.” Onto the next one.

Yorokobi sees Yoru go into a stereotypical disguise putting his hood up and slouching over. Yorokobi decides to follow along and puts his up as well being sure to hide anything hinting toward his lineage as an uzumaki remembering what Yoru told him when they first met about this market place.
This place looks like somewhere Yoru would love but it seems like he wants nothing to do with it, strange. Seems like a majority of what is being sold is what you’d see at a normal market but I’m sure there’s plenty of hidden sales going on with plenty of illegal activity. Yorokobi and Yoru continue walking throughout the market passing by multiple salesmen trying to get them buy their knock off goods “What should I keep my eyes out for?”

Yorokobi had tried to get the Jashinist’s attention, but his attention was directed elsewhere. A mop headed boy whose age probably was not in the double digits yet had just collided with a woman. Yoru observed the scene with a faint interest. It was just something out of the ordinary. Did this child not know where he was going? It would appear that way to most, but not to Yoru. He was used to seeing through the fog, seeing people for as they were. When the priest first tried to change his ways, he learned how to read others. And there was something… off about this kid. He was inexperienced, his mannerisms easy to see through by anyone who looked beyond the surface. Here he was, a child, with an intelligence that others would not expect to see. And more importantly, the boy had seemed to have reached into the woman’s clothing during their fall. He was much too young for some odd sexual feeling, that could not be it. But thievery? Shiny things? That was much more expected. Intrigued, Yoru would lean against a wall near a market stall, observing the kid’s actions further. “Yorokobi,” he said subtly. “I need you to get some food. Non perishables. Here.” Yoru reached underneath his jacket to the back of his belt, usually covered to prevent such things. “Take this and put it to good use. I’ll meet up with you soon.” With that being said, Yoru would be as inconspicuous as possible in his observations.

Checking everyone would have taken forever, and he couldn’t keep making scenes or else people would be onto him quickly. He peered around, some people didn’t have pockets, so that eliminated them from the suspect list. He saw a man over by the corner who looked rich. So, he decided to head that way. He started at a slow walk but quickly picked up speed as he started to run towards the man. Being so little, all the man would think was that the kid was just playing. But about two meters away from the man, Muji took a big fall, making sure to land in his arm so it got all cut up. The man looked alarmed and ran over to the bleeding boy. He quickly took off his jacket to wrap the boy’s arm with in an attempt to stop the bleeding. He told him that they needed to get that checked out by someone inside by Muji refused saying that he was appreciated for the concern but really he was fine. As he started to unwrap the man’s jacket from his arm he hand quickly slipped into his pocket and pulled out the gold watch he was looking for. Now it was time to head back inside the bar.

Yorokobi took Yoru’s money and began his search in the market for dried meat, uncooked rice, and other non perishable foods to buy. I need to make sure to keep a hold of this money and not let any pickpockets try to take it. Anything can happen in a place like this.
Yorokobi walked around the market but not too far from Yoru to where he couldn’t find his way. He saw a seller with some decent looking food after a long search. Finally someone with some half decent food. “Hi, I was looking for some food to last a long trip. Nuts, dried meat, rice, anything like that. Do you sell anything of the sorts or could point me somewhere that does?” The vender, a middle aged man in decent health with a higher pitched voice than expected, replied “Why yes, young traveler, I have all of your traveling needs here at Maurice’s traveling emporium. You said you were in need of non perishable foods correct?” “Yes, sir” “Oh, you have some manners? Don’t see that around here often. Well I have all your needs here at Maurice’s traveling emporium. Here are some mixed nuts, dried beef, and uncooked rice. Would you like anything else with these?” Maurice would put them all in separate paper wrapings to keep them organized. “Any other inexpensive food you’d recommend for a long journey?” “Why yes, young boy, I’d be happy to recommend my own remiddy of organic, non polluted, straight from the springs mineral water. It’s the perfect source of all H2O offers. So what do you say? Would you like some?” Yorokobi quickly saw the scam in his product but played along. “As good as that sounds, sir. I must decline due to my very harsh no organic, non polluted, mineral spring water diet. Thank you for offering though, now how much would the good cost me?” Maurice looked slightly annoyed for a split second but quickly went back to his normal salesman attitude saying “Oh, it’s no problem at all, boy. Without the divine water in your purchase that’ll be approximately 400 ryo. That’s not out of your price range now is it?” The vender smirked greedily. “Oh of course not sir I have your payment right here.” Yorokobi then set down the 400 ryo on the stand and grabbed his purchased food. Which gave Maurice quite the shocked face after seeing the boy able to pay his overpriced sale. “You know what? Diets are made to be cheated on, grab me one of those organic, non polluted, straight from the springs mineral water for the trip I have.” Maurice’s face quickly gleamed with excitement but Yorokobi cut him off before he could exclaim his joy. ”Would you mind grabbing me one of the fresh ones from the back in fact?” “W-why yes, boy, that’s no problem at all.” While Maurice was in the back scuffling around for his drink Yorokobi took back his 400 ryo he left for him on the counter and began to walk away back toward Yoru. While this happened Maurice returned a minute or so noticing the ryo and food were gone. “That son of a bitch. Why does nobody want my water.”
Once Yorokobi returned to Yoru he made sure to go along with whatever he was doing at the time. “I got us some dried meat, nuts, and rice. I also stole back the ryo I paid for it with so we might not want to stay too long.”

Yoru took note of the young boy’s mannerisms. It seemed he reduced himself to self harm in order to get what he wants. His eyebrow arched as he noticed the boy pocketing something. That’s when Yorokobi walked back up to him, causing him to have to talk again instead of his normal inner dialogue. “You did what you were asked.” He looked at the boy, analyzing him. “Follow me.” Yoru then headed across the street into the bar.

Muji was eager to get the information about his parents and go home. Being an eight year old child who was having one of his first interactions with other humans, he was super exhausted. If you were to look at him it would show. The smell of alcohol filled the air stronger than it was earlier, as a result that would mean more and more drunk people. The bartender gave him a welcoming nod as their eyes met. New people filled the bar. On the far right now was someone obviously underaged but Muji couldn’t tell. Next to him was a women in a pink dress, chugging down a drink with eight more empty glasses on the table, someone was having a bad day it seemed. In the middle was a larger scary guy, he had spikey hair and a chain around his next that looked very sharp. Muji wondered how the sharp necklace didn’t cut his neck open whenever he walked. Finally he saw the bearded man. He seemed to be in the same state as before, which mean he wasn’t looking too sober.
The small boy walked up to him and started to poke him on his back right shoulder. “Hey mister, I’m back.” The old man slowly turned around, peering into the child’s eyes. “Kid you better have my goddamn watch or you should just turn around now and walk away.” Without skipping a beat Muji quickly pulled out the watch and dangled it in front of the man, “Here I got your watch Mister. Now tell me about my family and then I can leave you alone.” The man snatched the watch out of the child’s hands. Looking it over to make sure it was the right one. Once he seemed convinced, a started a slow maniacal laugh was released from his mouth. “Ha ha ha, kid. The only thing I know about your parents is that they were crooks, just like you were. The sucked at it too, they belonged to a bunch of monsters. Your parents were bad people. I’ll tell you where they used to live for another couple thousand ryo.”
Muji started to feel like he just his the ground after falling off the top of a mountain. What that man said couldn’t be true, could it? The boy started to tear up, but in a time like this he couldn’t show weakness. There was no time to cry, only to be angry. His eyes started to bleed as they shifted from their green to a deep shade of red, with a purple line in the middle. He kicked out the leg of the stool the bearded man was sitting on and he fell to the ground. As he fell, Muji pulled a knife out of his belt. Once the man hit the floor, the small kid moved quickly and put the knife up to the mans neck. His eyes blazed red, “If you ever talk about my parents like that again, I’ll kill you. Learn to be nice.” But Muji wanted to prove a point here. He pricked the man’s neck with the knife causing a slow bleed, it wouldn’t even hurt that much. The boy with the red eyes also grabbed the watch of the fat man and started to walk out the door.

Yorokobi follows Yoru through the crowded streets where he takes them to a bar. “Oh so this is what it takes for you to finally have a good time, huh?” Yorokobi exclaimed as they went in. As they entered he noticed many drunks scattered across the room stumbling around with a mix of loud laughter and yelling followed by a brawl. After this Yorokobi kept against the wall of the entrance leaning near the bar keeping an eye on everything while Yoru kept moving through.

Yoru headed into the bar while ignoring his sidekick, keen to stick to the walls and observe more than interact. He was not the kind to interject himself into everything. The Jashinist watched the boy approach a much older man, giving him a gift, something he must have taken from one of the passerby’s pockets. Some words were exchanged that he was not close enough to hear, but when the drunken man cried out and fell, Yoru quickly leaned over to the Uzumaki, “Go back to the cave.” he then began walking around the outskirt of a small circle that had formed. When he saw the blood flowing from the odd eyes of the boy… he surged forwards as the Chinoike grabbed a knife and held it to the man’s neck. Muji would only have time to prick his neck and grab the watch before Yoru would rush forward, picking up the child in his arms and slugging him over his shoulder and rushing out of the bar. The boy was welcome to protest or whatever made him feel better, but the strength and speed of the jashinist would allow for him to effectively kidnap the boy from the bar and return back to the cave, where he would meet up with Yorokobi. “I’ll explain soon,” was the only explanation provided.
