Path to Jounin pt 1

It took only seconds for Sakana to catch up with Max but he was too late. The fragile puppet ripped through the heart of their opponent with ease. The blade didn’t even completely leave the body of the man before blood started to trickle out his mouth and his knees buckled, falling towards the cold wet ground. As his head made contact with the ground the realization had started to sink in for his team of genin, they just lost their fearless leader so easily, demonstrating the harsh realities of combat. No one is every truly safe, not even the leaders everyone looks up to. Sakana knew this all too well.
 
For a moment Sakana worried that Max wouldn’t stop at the leader, if he showed such a last of restraint against the leader how would he treat the soldiers? He didn’t blame Max for what he did, but he was just a different type of breed from Sakana, but maybe that’s why they were paired together. Now directly behind Max, Sakana started to reach to grab his fellow chuunin’s shoulder to restrain him but Max spoke first, threatening  the genin to surrender. It wasn’t until that moment that the blue hair boy realized how ruthless the blond boy was, he truly exemplified the Kumo battle fighting style of no hesitation, though he did allow the genin to surrender. In the future others may not be so lucky.  Around this time the paint bird carrying the genin arrived at the scene, all three of their faces looked at the bloody scene in horror as the bird started to dematerialize under them. Actually all six of the children looked terrified. Most of them would be too young to remember the village takeover just a few years back where Sakana first viewed gore and destruction as the opposition’s heads were placed on pikes. This scene was Aramu, Shik, Okuba and the other three genin’s first experience of such gore, something they would get used to as they continued their careers as shinobi. Hopefully they wouldn’t be scared for the rest of their life. Scars cause fear. Fear leads to shock. Being shocked for even a second meant death.

Max’s puppets restrained the opposing genin, and it finally looked as though the new killer has started to clam down. “The boy has guts, you could learn something from him.  Shame you lest survivors, you’re allowing them to live with their failure for the rest of their pathetic lives.” The three tails made an appearance from inside Sakana to mock him. Even though they had spent almost a year together the bijuu and it’s host still didn’t get along most of the time. The Meijin tried every once in a while to make the effort to interact with the beast and try to inch closer to a friendship but the turtle was much like the ocean, cold and complicated. But nevertheless Isobu appeared whenever Sakana felt the emotions of shock, fear or anger, almost as if he tried to play at his weaknesses or maybe he just found his host’s uncertainties amusing.
 
Sakana and Max exchanged a few words about what to do next. The small boy would close out the mission by finding the scroll, while the larger boy carried the fallen enemy and lead the enemy soldiers to the gate where they entered with the help of his own genin. Most of the blood around the body had washed away in the rain, leaving a lifeless corpse in place. The Meijin instructed each of his genin to lead one of the genin with their hands tied towards the gate. Never once did the thought come across his mind that the defeated genin would try and rebel, but even so he placed his own genin behind in to order to insure that. “What was his name?”  Sakana asked as he placed one arm under the man’s head and the other under his legs. At first the question didn’t even resonate with the prisoners, their eyes were still glued to their dead leader.  After a moment had passed one of them finally realized that the question was posed to them, “Ki…Kiyo. His name was Kiyo.” The girls voice trembled as the words left her mouth, it seemed like all three of them were fighting back tears. “I’m not sure how well you all were acquainted with him but either way I’m sorry for your loss. I’ll make sure he gets the burial of a solider in the village. He died trying to felt the village.” Little did they know that this whole test was orchestrated around getting Sakana to jounin but this was neither the time nor place to reveal that secret. It was better for everyone if they believed that Kiyo died a hero’s death and not one of a man who didn’t have the skill to try and dodge a puppet made by a child.
 
The group started to walk towards the entrance where he saw a who he could only assume to be the overseer of the mission standing in the doorway. Just before the reached their destination Max would regroup with them with the scroll in hand. “Everyone go home and get a good night’s rest tonight. This mission may have been a first for some of you but it will definitely not be your last. Any of you can come see me if you need anything. I hope to see you all again.
 
As they reached the doorway the shinobi congratulated Sakana, Max and the rest of the genin, while someone who looked to be his assistant came and cut the ties to each of the losing genin. After saying his goodbyes Sakana would go straight home to his bed. He wished he could block out what happened during the mission but that’s not what he’s expected to do. He’s expected to analyze the situation in order to be able to do better next time. But that was a task for another day.

Approved, but you should know the bijuu cloaks can't be discounted, that includes the max stat discount. Here's the relevant line from the bijuu rules ^_^
