Fine Tuning ♫ Empty Fine Tuning ♫

Sat Apr 21, 2018 8:45 pm
Deep within the forest in Konohagakure, there was a secluded training field filled with dense forestry and even a scenic waterfall closely. It was one of the training locations that only the strong could have access to, because of the ferocious animals that populate this section of forest. The red headed genin had finally found the drive to explore these fields as part of a training exercise, The UZumaki had heard the rumors regarding a survival challenge as part of the chuunin exams that almost always resulted in the elimination of half the participating genin. Allegro took a large gulp at just the thought of it, but did not back down. There was nothing he could not overcome, and that was simply the Uzumaki way. As he travelled towards the open field near the waterfall, he trained his agility with moving with the surface walking technique. He was performing the most impressive acrobatics as he launched himself from tree branch to tree branch until his speedy figure shot past the tree line. It was like crossing a veil of light from the way the Sun shined on the field through a patch where the gigantic trees did not cover with their leaves. Allegro had worked up a sweat as he took in the beauty of the scene around him and finally took a knee near the river bank directly under the waterfall. He drank from its water and found it refreshing.

Allegro would stare into his reflection in the water as the force from the waterfall created ripples and disturbed the image. Whether or not Allegro became a chuunin, this new challenge would definitely gather the strongest of his rank in the village. Since becoming a genin himself, Allegro recalls running into a new genin almost every day, whether it be through performing missions together, or just socializing throughout the village. So he already has a glimpse of how strong the competition was. He learned that he was not the only ninja who’s Will of Fire was beginning to burn with a passion. He would face off against a number of his rivals there, and that even included his own teammates, Jason Senju and Higuto Aburame. They were both members of Konoha’s most noble clans. They were also highly skilled in ninjutsu, and can manipulate 3 elements, a skill normally accessible as a jounin level shinobi. Truly, they were in a league of their own. Allegro did not want to fall behind and be the burden of Konoha Team 7. The Uzumaki would suddenly regain his focus on his reflection in the water.. He took another drink from the clear blue pool to fully hydrate and stood to his feet with a smile.

With his invigorated sense of purpose, the Uzumaki formed the Tiger hand seal and gathered his chakra at the soles of his feet. This task was becoming almost effortless to the boy as he had developed an incredible knack for chakra control. Still, he felt there was room for improvement in his chakra control. He took a step onto the water made sure he was well balanced. It was not long before he was jumping and performing flips on top of the reservoir. Finally, he would turn around to face the large waterfall that was generating at least 100 gallons of water per second. Just from looking at it, Allegro could sense the pain that would come if he tried to withstand the falling water. However, what better way was there to build his endurance. He raised his arms up and loosened his headband , and the resulting hold on his long red dreadlocks that kept it neatly tied. The Uzumaki shook his hair out until he slightly resembled a lion, or a pharaoh wearing a headdress made of red hair. He removed his shirt and stored it on the riverbank along with his now removed headband. He turned around, and as he approached the waterfall, he weaved the hand seals that would activate his Fuinjutsu Chakra Barrier. Scatters of fuinjutsu kanji seals would gather around his chest and take the shape of a shield as the jutsu took effect. A thin, invisible film of chakra would cloak the boy, and it would look like he had just been laminated. Finally, he took a seat with his legs folded under the waterfall. Though the pressure of the water was felt greatly, the barrier did its job by absorbing most of the shock. Allegro maintained an upright sitting postion and addopted a meditative pose with his hands clasped together like he was praying. It was here the boy would remain perfecting his chakra control with each second that passed. How long would it be before his training was interrupted by something….or someone in this part of the forest?

Cho was wandering in a restricted section of the Konoha training grounds. She passed over a gave that clearly read “KEEP OUT”  and thought to herself what was the worst that could happen? She proceeded with caution, though it appeared the kunoichi was walking without a care in the world. The sun poked through the immense shade cast by the Leaf Village’s forest known for their monstrous trees. And where there were giant trees, there were giant creatures that dwell within them. Cho watched a giant centipede pass by, followed by a tiger, and then even a scorpion. The kunoichi stayed hidden from the super sized predators. As each one passed, she would whisper “No…” to herself, as if she was flipping through food options at a restaurant. She was selecting the perfect animal for her insects to feast on. A centipede would basically be some form of cannibalism for her insects. Same kind of deal with the scorpion The tiger posed too much of a threat, and could probably kill her and her insects if it was hungry enough. Finally, after skipping through a few trees, she came across a large and fat boar. Cho licked her lips seductively after her and her insects agreed to make the boar their next meal. She would wait until the animal wandered  within her reach, She was hanging upside down using the tree climbing technique, and would simply drop down when the time was right. After about 15 minutes, Cho would leave behind a dried up husk of a carcass that once belonged to the fat and plump boar of the forest. Her insects were wriggling happily within her body on a full stomach.

With her hunger satiated, Cho eventually stumbled upon a clearing in the forest, the very same one Allegro had chosen to do his training. Cho immediately noticed the tall genin sitting perfectly still under a raging waterfall. She figured it to be some kind of endurance training. As she admired the shirtless boy, she wondered if she could use him for some of her own training. For a long time now, she had been working hard to control her deadly insects so that she can use them in combat. However her insects were almost always harmful to her comrade, and so she was falling behind on her missions, and was even deemed dangerous. She needed to hone her skills without using her kekkei genkai. From their fight with Yensung Aburame, Cho’s mentor, she already knew that Allegro was among the strongest in her genin class. He was a member of Konoha team 7, one of the teams with the highest successful mission count. She would approach the river bank and rest one hand on her hip as she waited for him to notice her. When he finally did, she would say,

“Want to help me out with some training? I saw how fast you moved against Yensung, and he’s a jounin. I want to become strong as well”

She would look into Allegro’s eyes with deter nation that could rival even his. There was no taking “no” for an answer.

Water continued to pour down on the Uzumaki as he meditated in the middle of the forest. He was in a deep state of meditation, and there was very little that could break his focus. His headphones were not on his head, which was a rare sight in itself. The ringing pain from his tinnitus was not hurting his ears too bad, since the sound of the rushing water overpowered the ringing. The boy looked internally and felt his chakra surging throughout his body. He practiced manipulating and molding its shake and nature all while staying afloat on the water’s surface. Demonstrating this level of chakra control was rare among genin. However, he had a good teacher, and of course rivals to always push him forward. The sound of the busy forest around him would not reach him, and would be oblivious to whatever or whomever was approaching him.

He was learning to perfect his Chakra barrier technique, which gave him the ability to endure most attacks that were directed at him. He reflected on how frustrated he felt when he was sparring against Yensung Aburame. His jutsu rendered even Allegro’s most powerful sound wave technique completely useless. That was a konoha jounin for you, on an entirely different league compared to Allegro’s. The Uzumaki would attempt to immitate Yensung’s indestructibility with his fuinjutsu as best he could and try to tank his way through whatever was coming his way in the exams. Even though it would work in theory, Allegro would never truly know how his seal compares to Yen’s grey Yang Aura without a test it out against another ninja. He had to see how much he could take before his jutsu fades. It was at this moment that Allegro could feel a foreign chakra presence enter the same training field he was in. He chose to pay it no mind, as the chakra he sensed seemed to be a familiar one.

Meanwhile, approaching from down stream was a dark menacing shadows making its way upstream directly towards where Allegro was sitting silently. As the shadow grew closer and closer to the genin, the water grew shallow, exposing a large and pointy dorsal fin. It was not not big enough to be a while, but was at lest the size of a large shark. It seemed to have spotted Allegro and decided to make a meal of the dark skinned Uzumaki. Before Cho Aburame could speak out to the boy, the gigantic salmon like fish jumped out of the water in an arced direction to land directly on top of Allegro. The oversized, black scaled fish and menacingly sharp teeth and illustrious scales that seemed to glow with a pattern that resembled a skull and cross bones. The fish would land on Allegro mouth first, swallowing him whole before returning into the water with a large splash that would leave Cho Aburame completely soaked.

Allegro appeared to be completely oblivious to the situation. Was the sound of the water hindering his usually razor sharp senses? Would Cho help her ninja comrade, or simply watch him become fish food here in the middle of the forest? Find out on the next episode of….nevermind. However, if Allegro did survive the ordeal and escape the clutches of the giant salmon, he would hear Cho speak and make his way to the river bank to answer her call to train. This was just what he needed.

Before Cho could utter any words out of her mouth, she stopped when she noticed a large fish approaching aggressively towards Allegro. About 5 meters away from Cho, she would not have enough speed to grab Allegro and pull him out of harms way. She widened her stand as her left hand grabbed two kunai from the pouch closest to her left side. She would wait until the ideal moment to launch the knives. The fish jumped in an arc formation which made it easy to predict its trajectory. She threw the kunai, aiming it to strike the fish in the eye and gills. The fish was large, so she made sure she threw it with all her strength, to do her best to throw the fish off course. She decided that she would do this one act of kindness for Allegro. The boy that peaked her interest in her training with Yensung sensei. Was it his unique red hair, that was as red as a rose? Or his dark skin that gave him a unique glow both in the harshest sun and under the fullest moon? No, it wasn’t any of that mushy boy crush shit. It was his strength. There was a presence about him that threatened her from earning the title of strongest in her class. She new that beating Allegro would mean achieving that strength that she longed for. Not physical strength of course, but the strength that came with the sense of entitlement of being the strongest. That was what she was after.

Once it was clear that the large fish was no longer a threat to Allegro, Cho would continue to say what she had originally planned to say, but she added a comment about what a close call that was. She would keep an eye on the fish, just in case two knives were not enough to completely kill or ward off the fish. The fish did not look especially predatory, however in this part of the training fields, she had been proven wrong before. The animals that were raised here were all quite different in nature than their normal counterparts. Maybe they could even be used as summoning jutsu.  The boy was almost fish food. Hopefully, after seeing Cho’s demonstration of selflessness, the boy would feel indebted to her and would indulge her on her request for a training partner. She needed a strong training partner so she could understand just how much she had to grow. However, she was not quite sure how the two of them would be able to practice. Her bugs were extremely carnivorous and dangerous to use in a spar. There was no way she could use them on Allegro, even in a training exercise. Maybe once she explained this to Allegro, they could come up with a training method that would suit them both.

Cho would allow Allegro to dry off, and wear his clothes and headband if he so chose. She appreciated his physical form that almost rivaled hers, a sign that he was serious about his strength training as well. She herself was wearing her usual crop top with a long skirt that split alongside her leg. She wore her usually jewelry all on her body and her hair was tied into her usual long ponytail that reached her ankles. The ponytail was tied in several points along its length with colorful jewels. She also had shorts underneath that were fashioned out of bandages to add compression. This was her usual training outfit when within the village walls, where she was free to be as individualistic as she pleased. Once the boy was ready, and Cho was done stretching before their training began, she would go ahead to explain what it was she was working on today. “Yensung sensei says that I need to improve my physical strength in order to become an ideal vessel for my insects. There’s a lot of pressure on me from the Aburame clan to perform well in the chuunin exams and demonstrate that the Aburame are the strongest in the leaf village. I must not fail….so keep up. Got it, Allegro?"

A giant fish appeared from the depths of the river to attempt to swallow the Uzumaki whole. At the very last possible second, Allegro lifted a single eyelid to observe his impending demise. It was then that he noticed Cho attempting to save him. She threw two kunai at the fish, which lodged deep into the fishes eye and gills. However, because of the trajectory of the fish in midair, and kunoichi’s throwing strength, or lack thereof, it was not enough to stop the fish from swallowing him whole. Everything around the boy would become pitch black once inside the fish. What was strange though, was how the fish seemed unable to return back into the water. It just flopped around in a struggle over the water’s surface. The reason for this: Allegro had never dispelled his surface walking technique. His strength was much higher than the first, and with his Chakra barrier intact, he was barely fazed by the fish’s biting power. Allegro would simply lift the struggling fish off of his head with both and toss it towards the shore, over Cho’s head. It would land on the ground with a large thud, followed by several desperate flops and flips to inch closer to the river to try and make an escape.

Allegro would stand on both feet and remove himself from under the waterfall. Immediately he felt a load lighter on his feet. He looked around and saw that it was actually quite late in the day. Just how long had he been sitting under that waterfall for. All the while, keeping his muscles flexed to gain endurance. He hopped off the surface of the water and landed soundly on the ground next to Cho and looked in her eyes as she went on to make her request. Allegro was happy to see her determination to excel in the chuunin exams. That was a passion he shared with her. To his surprise, the Aburame also was seeking to develop her physical strength and endurance. If that was the case, maybe Cho should have just joined him under the waterfall for his endurance training. However, at second thought, they would probably both have been fish food by now. Allegro nodded his head to accept Cho’s invitation to train. However before assuming his fighting stance, Allegro would walk over to the flopping fish and place his foot on it to pin him down. He removed the knives Cho had thrown, ending the fish’s suffering. He cleaned them off in his pants leg before offering them back to the kunoichi in the exact same way Cho had done for him just a few days prior during their joint training with Yensung Aburame. He hoped Cho would appreciate the irony of the situation.

With that out of the way, Allegro would gather stray pieces of wood and assemble a small camp fire. He fashioned a makeshift rotisserie and impaled the fish with a wooden pike before putting the carcass over the flame to cook. Once this was done, he would stand in the center of the training field, facing Cho wherever she was standing. He gave a hand gesture which instructed Cho to come at him. He was ready to test his endurance against another shinobi.

Things took an interesting turn of events. Her aim with the kunai was true, and struck its target twice to the vitals. Nice. However, she did not have enough power in her to throw the queen sized fish off its trajectory. For a split second she gasped with despair as she would have been the sole witness to a fellow genin's death. She wondered if she would have to leave the village when the ninja caught wind of Allegro's disappearance and identified her as the person last seen with him. She did not want to leave the village by someone else's terms. However soon, her pondering would cease as she noticed something was not quite what it seemed at first. The fish was wriggling about and choking on something. Then suddenly, the fish regurgitated the Uzumaki whole and intact, without any sign of marks from the fish's razor sharp teeth. Allegro lifted the fish with one arm with all his strength and tossed it aside like a sack of rocks. Cho was amazed at the strength, and immediately understood what she had gotten herself into by asking to be her sparring opponent. She gulped hard as she followed his movements.

She immediately noticed the strange incantation that seemed to be tattooed on his chest. Was this his ninja art? Fuinjutsu...the art of sealing. Cho admit that she was not as knowledgeable in fuinjutsu as she was in ninjutsu and taijutsu. She would immediately associate the apparent shield like mark with the Uzumaki's abnormal strength and durability. This made her reflect on a time she heard a tale about the Uzumaki clan, from her parents when they were still living. They were described as masters of the art of Fuinjutsu. What's more, she immediately linked the similarities between this technique and the one Yensung demonstrated on top of Hokage Rock during a test that would preliminarily test the group of genius' ability. Was there a chance this kid was receiving private lessons just like she was? 'Uzumaki, Allegro: One of the two other students that Yensung has agreed to accept as a student...is this strong? Damn it...That old fart has been holding out on me. Unacceptable!' The mute ninja began completing sever tasks around the local area to make it more comfortable. A bright fire arrived in less than a few seconds, and Cho was sure that the boy possessed no Fire style techniques. He erected two pillars of earth with his chakra and created a rotisserie to grill the salmon with. Cho walked into position with her eyes closed and a smile on her face. She tightened her headband on tight and opened her eyes wide to gaze into his. The seal of confrontation flew up and the kunoichi flew into action at top speed as the Uzumaki gestured for her to bring it on.

"DIEEE!"

Cho would deliver a round house kick to Allegro's dome, attempting to inflict brain shaking damage. Her hair would whip around as her body turned mimicking the movements of a serpent. Whether this attack landed or not, she would bring her body around to dodge and counter movement and land in a crouching position. She would clench her left fist and poised her self to push herself off of the Earth's surface while she planted her hardened fist square in the throat. She executed a savage and merciless form of kung fu that was designed for assassins. The Aburame always had favor with the Leaf village's anbu black ops, and so Cho had early access to opportunity to train in a pipeline program with the Anbu. Should this attack land on Allegro's throat, he would be thrown backwards and left to struggle, gasping for air. Cho would use that opportunity to distance herself with a one handed backflip. She would grin slightly if her hits connected; a sign that she was getting used to the habit of initiating skin to skin contact in combat situations. It would lead to her victories in the near future during the chuunin exams.

Once she was about 5 meters from Allegro, Cho Aburame revealed a pair of shuriken that had dispensed from a pouch strapped to her breast. Depending on how Allegro's movements were from here going forward, she would jump backwards to dodge any incoming attack and throw the shuriken. Since Allegro had not worn his shirt, she would use the opportunity to see how his Fuinjutsu barrier compared to Yensung sensei's.

While dinner was roasting over an open fire, the two leaf genin would spar until their arms grew tired and dangled from their sides like limp noodles. Allegro matched his opponent’s seal of confrontation, and then allowed her to make the first move. Allegro had noticed the Aburame taking note of his technique while sizing him up. Allegro thought about how he should not reveal to much to her before the start of the exams. Otherwise, it might mean some type of disadvantage for him. Unlike Allegro, other shinobi had no problem talking and voicing their thoughts. He would hate it if Cho shared her experience fighting with him to other ninja, thus ruining his element of surprise on the battlefield. As he looked at the smile on Cho’s face as she tightened her headband, Allegro second guessed himself. Maybe he was worried about nothing. As strange as Cho was, the boy strangely felt that he could trust her. And what’s more, something told him that it was not a wise idea to hold back against her.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, Cho dashed towards Allegro with malicious intent.  Her battle cry threw Allegro completely off guard. ‘Die? Sheesh, this girl is ruthless. We’re just training…’ The Uzumaki thought to himself as he folded his arms together. The girl started by delivering a strong roundhouse kick that was aimed at his right temple. Allegro was able to process this attack with his high reaction speed and simply leaned back to evade the attack. The wind caused by the kick would make his long red dreadlocks flutter for just a second. Cho’s leg would continue on its trajectory, since his head no longer stood in the way of its path. The kunoichi’s trademark long braid of hair wisped behind her like a serpent. Allegro grinned and took advantage of the opportunity. As Cho moved left from her evaded kick, Allegro would side step to the right and grab hold of her long braid. He would yank with 25 strength and fling her to his right using only one hand. Simultaneously, the fuinjutsu specialist would leave a small circular mark seal on one of the knots that held her braided hair together. He performed this movement at his maximum speed to ensure that the counter attack was a success. The throw would send her flying in that direction before she ever got the chance to follow up her kick with a throat punch. If she did not react quick enough, she would tumble against the hard earthen ground of the training field some 10 meters away from where Allegro was standing. He would then return his arms to its folded position.

If this succeeded, Allegro would look into Cho’s eyes with a taunting smile. The boy would put his headphones back on top of his head, and then use one finger to click the button on his headphones, in order to resume the music it played. The sound of the beautiful music caused the boy to immediately begin bobbing his head. In fact, his whole body seemed to groove to the music. It was his way of getting into the mood for combat. His eyes were closed while he enjoyed his music, but his other senses were still actively engaged. His hearing was still exceptionally sharp and precise, despite having his headphones on, and would be able to hear the sound of movement in Cho’s clothing if she made another mad dash towards him. He would also be tracking the kunoichi’s movements with his chakra sensory, and with the mark seal now placed, he would be able to detect her even in his immediate vision is blurred.

Now for the follow up. While it would seem like Allegro was goofing off with his music, he was actually attempting to get the Aburame’s undivided attention. Like magicians, he was a master at redirecting the crowd’s attention, as required by a future superstar.  If his moves and his music were nothing short of totally captivating, he would never be able to fulfill his nindo, his ninja way. While Cho was wondering what in the hell the Uzumaki was up to, she would suddenly hear a whisper on the back of her neck. “Where are you looking, Cho-chan?” It was a voice….Allegro’s voice. When did he get behind her? The girl had not once taken her eyes off of Allegro. She would have been able to see any hand signs he weaved in order to conjure up a clone. Naturally, the kunochi would want to turn around to address whomever was behind her, whether it be with words or with a fist. And in the very moment she did so, Allegro would vanish from sight in a  blur of speed. He would close the 10 meter gap between he and Cho with 185 speed, and with a fist already poised to strike Cho in the abdomen. Upon completing his Shunshin, he would plant the fist in Cho’s stomach and send her on a path to collide with a nearby tree trunk that would cause an indentation in the bark.

Allegro would then retract his stance and take a deep breathe. He stared at both his hands and grinned slightly. The resistance training under the waterfall had slightly improved his movement speed. He was feeling much lighter on his feet, even with his Chakra Barrier still in effect. This was progress that he was more than happy to receive. He returned to his little jig while he celebrated his small victory and progress as a growing shinobi to the sound of his music.

Cho studied Allegro's effectiveness in hand to hand combat while he easily evaded attack after attack. His speed was amazing. Shit, the red haired genin managed to slip behind her in her first assault. Cho still had many blind spots. As soon as her left foot touched the ground, she would attempt to use the momentum to pivot around and defend herself from a counter attack. This, however, was completely futile. Before she could do so, Allegro had yanked the Aburame by her long precious hair. The nerve! As she sailed through the air, a vein on her forehead pulsated with anger. She landed with a loud crash, raising a plume of dust, concealing her figure for just a second. She rose immediately and roared a mighty battle cry. "I'll kill you for that, Allegro! The hair is off limits, you got that Asshole?!" The hot blooded kunoichi was just getting started. She would conquer the challenge standing before her without hesitating once. To her, that's what it meant to be the best. The sound of Allegro's voice whispering just behind the raging kunoichi made her swing her elbow behind her, thinking Allegro's face would be there to connect with it. She turned around only to see that she had been deceived. Tch...The master of sound strikes again. Because of the difference in speed between the two ninja, Cho would only have a chance to crane her neck back to its upright position before feeling the pressure of Allegro's fist in her abdomen. Oxygen and Saliva left her mouth frantically, leaving her completely winded. The force of the strike had been enough to send Cho out of conscious for just a moment, and further still once she felt the hard slam into the tree behind her.

The Aburame would stay there for a spell, wallowing in her own defeat. "Fuck this..." Cho's head was hanging low as gravity slowly freed her from being pressed into the splintered tree bark at her backside. "I...have to get stronger. Minions, its time! COME FUCK THIS GUY UP FOR ME!" Cho elevated the sound of her voice as she regained consciousness. Her blurred vision found focus on Allegro's figure, taking a deep breath. Cho ripped her arm from the tree and the rest of her body followed. She landed flimsily at first, as if her legs were soft like ramen noodles, but soon after she stood her ground. The loose strands of her hair were covering her face and hiding her ghastly expression. Her insects...as ashamed as she was to admit it, were not obeying her commands. As they mature, they become more and more difficult to control. Cho carried one of the strongest manifestations of her kekkei genkai, and it was difficult even for her to control it. What an embarrassment she would turn out to be if she was this much of a failure so soon before the Chuunin exams. If she didn't get her act together, she would definitely have to forfeit to save face.

With the willpower she had left to fight, she brought two shuriken as she had originally planned and threw them. At this point, she had to buy herself more time to recover as well as come up with a solid plan B. The shuriken would curve towards Allegro in opposite directions. Ideally, they would land directly between his eyes and square in his chest.

Allegro maintained a determined, serious look on his face even when Cho was screaming and spewing foul language. He had just yanked her by the hair and threw her aside. Apparently Cho's hair was most precious to the Aburame, and Allegro touching it was enough to set her off. This observation was carefully noted, just in case Cho ever became an opponent in the chuunin exams. Allegro finished his follow up attack just as it was aforementioned and as a result, he sent Cho flying towards the forest. Allegro had become a master of deception to some extent, before even learning genjutsu. As he recoiled from the strike and took a deep breathe, he could feel Cho's will power to stay conscious.

It seemed as if the kunoichi was going through some kind of internal struggle. Was this really the extent to her power? Allegro would continue to bob his head with his eyes clothes. He could hear shuriken whizzing through the air toward him. Even with his eyes clothes, Allegro had enough reaction speed to move to the side to dodge each shuriken as it came his way. Allegro would disguise his evasive maneuver with a funky dance move.
