Calm Seas - Page 2 Empty Re: Calm Seas

In response to Ikigai’s first statement, she would let out a small laugh before trying to stifle it, “That sounds rough, getting stuck with it and all.” She just crossed her fingers that she would not have to deal with the same thing; after all, if Ikigai did not mind it, then he surely would not mind doing it again. She looked around his room when he showed it to her, and sketches here and around caught her eye. “These drawings are pretty nice,” she said with her eyes fixed on one particular design: Sharktooth WIP. Huh, interesting. Kay did not really have any questions further concerning Ikigai’s room, but she then noticed that the girl’s side of the hallway was half the amount of the boy’s side, although the doors seemed to be spread out more, which must have meant that they had more room. “There aren’t as many girls here, I guess,” she said in a mildly disappointed manner.

"It certainly wasn't fun" The boy would say as the girl began to look at his drawings, her eyes would seem to drift towards the blueprints for something called sharktooth. "These drawings are pretty nice". Ikigai would laugh as he picked the paper up off the floor and back onto his desk.

"They're nothing really" He'd mutter as he scratched the back of his head and continued to speak. "Just some ideas I was working on" as he finished speaking he'd notice the girls disappointment with the room situation, and was about to comment on it before a familiar voice broke the silence.

"Not quite yet" A jollier voice would say as it's owner rounded the corner. A man wrapped in black clothing, and snow white hair would turn the corner, a man Ikigai would instantly recognize as his sensei. Upon seeing him the boy would do a small bow out of respect as Hakai Hozuki continued to speak. "This was an all boy's school up until last semester, It seems the girls just haven't caught up yet.... But I'm confident they'll get there. And just who might your new friend be Ikigai?"

Ikigai would eagerly respond, happy to introduce the two. "Hakai Sensei, this is Kay. She's looking at being a new student here so I was in the middle of touring her around the academy." He'd say as his gaze shifted to Kay. "Kay, this is Hakai Hozuki, or the Sensei of this academy." The boy would step back as he finished speaking giving the two a chance to talk.

Kay slightly jumped at the sound of the unfamiliar voice, but there was something about the way he spoke that did not make her feel intimidated or frightened at all. Instead, she was just surprised at his presence which was now causing Ikigai to bow. He must have been important, so Kay did the same, not entirely sure of what was going on. She could have sworn she heard a small chuckle from the man before he spoke, explaining how the academy had been an all-boys school for most of its history. I suppose that makes sense she thought to herself, Did Komori know that before he brought me here? He knew that they’d have a place for me? She took note of what the blue skinned boy was saying, particularly that he referred to this man as his sensei and that he was a Hozuki.

Hozuki… A Hozuki like Komori? She thought, remembering the announcer back at the Kumogakure Black Games that granted the Senju her freedom. Are they supposed to be related? She snapped herself out of her ever wandering thoughts as she realized she was supposed to be carrying on a conversation with the man. “Oh,” slipped from her mouth as she bowed once more. “My name is Komorebi Tohsaka, but I prefer to go by Kay. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Hakai-sensei.” She would wait to see if he said anything before continuing, “I was escorted here by a jounin named Komori to see if you had an opening, but he had business and was forced to leave early.” She would keep steady eye contact throughout, but her expression would change to one of determination, a glint in her eye seeming to shine on her innermost hopes, “I want to become a shinobi and help others like he did for me, sir.”

The white haired man would smile as the girl began to unleash a barrage of words glad to see the eagerness in her words, and his attention peaked at the mention of Komori, and the deceleration of her goals. "Komori huh?" He'd say as he gave a quick glance to Ikigai. "He and his brother have made quite a name for themselves in the kumogakure military ranks." He'd say as he flashed a smile.

"To strive to be a shinobi of that caliber is a goal not many are able to fulfill." The tall man would say as he began to crouch down, so that he was eye level with the girl. "But I promise, if you study under me... I'll do everything in my power to get you there." The white haired green eyed man would say as his hand extended for a shake.

His words were genuine, and encouraging. And the blue skinned boy couldn't help but think of the first day he had walked into this academy, and its endless world of possibilities it had opened for him, the very thought brought a smile to his face.

"So what do you say, Komorebi Tohsaka? Should we find you a room?" The man would ask.

Kay had a confident look in her eyes, almost defiant. However, he defiance was not aimed at Hakai, but rather the notion that she would not be able to reach the level of Komori. All it would take is time and dedication. And she was a patient girl. She reached out and shook his hand, struggling to contain her excitement. Me… a shinobi. A smile grew on her face that could brighten even the cloudiest of days. A kunoichi. At his request, she would nod excitedly without saying a word.

Hakai would then gesture for to the left side of the hallway. “Take your pick. You’ll be the first girl to enroll here, which should hopefully bring in more.” His face held surprisingly young features in contrast to his white hair, but his green eyes certainly held a wisdom to them that could only come with decades of experience. I’d like to teach as many students as I can before this old man passes on. We don’t discriminate against gender, backgrounds, or the color of your skin, right, Iki?” He would let out a small, comfortable chuckle at the expense of the blue skinned boy.

Tohsaka smiled and walked into the room closest to the entrance, directly across from ‘Iki’ although nearly double the size, looking over every inch of the room with her widened eyes, spinning in a circle as she did so. “I’d be happy with this one, Hakai-sensei!” Kay said with a large smile on her face, arguably the largest she had held throughout most of her life. She had finally found a place where she belonged. Hakai gave a smile, the creases in his face being displayed as he did, before turning to shark boy, “I’ll let you finish showing this new girl around, Iki,” he would say to his pupil. Hakai would turn back to Kay one last time, catching her eye as she looked towards the doorway, “We’re happy to have you with us, little one.” This was probably a jab at her not-being-five-foot, but she was too excited to mind it, instead letting out a small laugh as Hakai walked away, off to oversee other academy duties.

The shark skinned boy's jagged teeth would show as a grin formed in reaction to his regarded sensei's joke. "That's very right sensei." He'd continue to smile as he leaned against the wall and watched the interaction between the two with interest. He was glad to see a new member at the academy, frankly the likes of Kiyo were starting to get on his nerves, and Kay seemed to be good company to keep.

He'd be raise an eyebrow as the girl chose the room across from him, before realizing why she chose it. She was the first girl in the academy and any room she wanted could have been hers. And like Ikigai, she had chosen the room closest to the Dojo. She was serious about her aspirations it seemed, and would be a good fit at the academy.

"I'll let you finish showing the new girl around, Iki" The white haired Sensei would quip, using the nickname that he had often used in the past. "Alrighty, To the mess hall! Ikigai would say slightly raising his voice in the latter half of the sentence in eagerness. Naturally with the boy's predator like body came a predator like appetite to accompany it. The mess hall was probably Ikigai's favorite part of the academy. The pair would make their way back through the dojo, and to the left wing of the academy. The right had been the housing, the center the dojo, and the left the mess hall.

Upon arriving Ikigai would point towards a station were an elderly man was serving food to students. "What do we got today Boru!" Ikigai would say eagerly eyeing the stations to get an answer before the man could give him one. Fish on sticks scattered the counter, and when his eye's looked up Boru one of Hakai's oldest students would have two of them in his hands, to which Ikigai would act semi confused. "Can I get one for my friend here too?" Boru would laugh at Ikigai's boldness in the face of hunger, before picking up a third and handing two to the blue skinned boy, and one to the strange new comer. "A bottomless pit as always I see, I wonder how skilled you might be if you did a little less eating and a little more training. Now go on, get out of here and take the rookie with you." Ikigai would mockingly huff. "Still good enough to beat you" He'd mutter under his breath before walking away with two fish in hand. The tour was nearing an end, and Ikigai was starving.

"Come on theres one last thing to show you"

Kay allowed for Ikigai to lead her through the dojo and to the opposite wing of the relatively average sized building. It was larger than the cramped orphanage in Konoha, but it was much smaller than the mansion that her deadbeat father resided in.

Upon seeing this new face hand over two servings of the food to Ikigai, the girl would raise her hand up to her face and give a small chuckle into it, failing to suppress the sound. “Thank you, Boru,” she would say with some slight hesitation on his name to make sure she was pronouncing it correctly before eyeing her food. She looked towards Ikigai before hesitantly taking a bite herself. “Hey, this is pretty good!” she said, turning towards the cook, “Oh, once again, thanks for the food,” she said with a small bow of her head. She turned to follow Ikigai, curious as to what he was going to show her next.

As the two made their way to the back of the academy, Ikigai would open the double doors that lead outwards, revealing several acres of cut green grass. About 200 meters out one could see a small wooden cabin. The cabin in question belonged to Hakai, and it was his personal living quarters. It was by no means a large living area, and a kumogakure celebrity such as the man could certainly afford better. But the hozuki was a simple man, and didn't need such a place.

Out in the fields a large arena like oval of dirt about the size of a football field rested, with a clearly man made trench surrounding it and filled with sparkling blue water. four small wooden bridges were scattered across it one for each of the cardinal directions, North, South, East and West, all allowing one to cross over the water and into the dirt circle.

"That right there is the arena we use to practice swordplay in combination with ninjutsu, after all we cant be throwing around fireballs in the house, and in the real world most of our enemies are gonna know ninjutsu." He'd say as he pointed towards the trenches.

"The waters for people like me, who use water ninjutsu. Because it requires a water source most of the time. And that dirt oval, is there for the earth users for pretty much the same reason, the dirt and the water also keep fire from spreading from fire ninjutsu too."

He'd scratch the back of his head as he tried to think of anything else to show her. Honestly, she'd pretty much seen it all. Forgetting about giving an explenation to the cabin he'd say. "Well, that's pretty much it if were being honest. Anything else you want to know?"

Kay allowed for the fresh mountain air to hit her face as Ikigai opened the doors in front of her. She listened intently to Ikigai’s words, trying to absorb as much information as she could now that she lived in the ‘real’ world. “Water,” she would say looking down at the river, nearly a whisper. She clenched a fist in front of her chest as her eyes drew to her own clenched hand, before turning to look at Ikigai. “Can you teach me to use water, the way that you can?” She looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with a thirst for knowledge and the childlike wonder that came with studying the world. She tilted her head slightly to one side, “Please?”

He'd pause at her request, something about the way she looked. The clenched fist, the gleaming eyes... Determination surrounded her in a way worthy of a student of Hakai. Perhaps for the first time since this brief academy tour had started he'd seen the makings of a promising student. Curiousity and a thirst for knowledge is what made all people great in their chosen professions. Complacency killed.

The shark toothed boy would not answer verbally but instead nod his head as he began to walk through the grass ahead of him towards the dirt arena. "Come on, if you wanna learn how to use water. You're most likely gonna need this trench." The walk would take about a minute, as the arena was intentionally placed far away from the academy, so that if a fire broke out they'd have at least some time to tame it before it reached it.

The planks on the bridge would creak beneath his feet with every step, and about halfway across it he'd stop, looking down into the moat below him. Before looking back to kay, he'd hesitate for a second lifting a finger as if he was about to ask her a question, but then shook his head as if the question was dumb and jumped over the railing to the modest bridge.

If Kay looked over the side she'd see him hovering above the water. The question he was going to ask, was if she knew how to use chakra control like that. But he had quickly shaken the idea out of his head, as it was a pretty basic technique, and if she had known it... She most likely would have been insulted with the question, and taken it as an attack on her abilities. He figured it was best to jump and find out, after all, if she needed help... She'd surely ask before taking a dive.

"You coming?!" He'd say as he peered upwards at the railing.
