Kokuei had stopped just beyond the gates to Konoha. The young Nara teen had a small notebook in hand, looking through a scribbled mess of writing that he had personally done. It was an assortment of locations, people, objects, and things of interest within the Fire Country. He was very interested in legends and lore, and he meant to pursue something within the forests of Konoha. With his clan's, and father's, permission of course.
The Nara Clan Forest was a special locale within the forests surrounding Konoha. It was secret, hidden, and looked after by Nara clan members. As a member of the clan, Kokuei had to undergo a rite of passage to journey to the very forest. Celebrate his heritage, appreciate his ancestry, and things of the like. The boy had ulterior motives, though.
Within the forest lived a... special deer. Unlike the cluster of deer that inhabited the Nara clan's portion of woods, there existed other things there as well. What Kokuei was after, according to the lore he had been researching on, was an ancient deer. Rumored to have been around since the birth of the Nara clan. It was not a normal animal, and Kokuei believed it had some special properties about it. Perhaps it was a spirit, or of a divine nature, or some manifestation tied to the Nara people for one reason or another.
Whatever the case, Kokuei was a creature of curiosity and had to know what this magnificent creature was. He had to know about it, and where to find it again. If it was as mythical as the older Nara lead him to believe, Kokuei may have use of the thing in the future.
"Okay, so... this way?" Kokuei's eyes narrowed on a crudely drawn map he had made in his pocket-sized notebook. The boy absentmindedly adjusted the tanto on his back that he had taken from his now-defected teacher. "Hell, I should have put some more details into this things." The Nara boy scratched the back of his head, looking deep into the woods, pondering which direction to actually move in.
