Sukoshi awoke to the darkness of the mists veil, his breath scarce and his senses higher than most who wake, he looked to his window to see a the light of a warding torch. His breathing returned to normal but he was still on edge, he got out of bed and got dressed, in a few moments he was strapping his pouch to his thigh and struggling to read aloud the statement on the poster board left for him by his mother. "Huu..." His voice sounded as if he were retching "He..." He gave up and sighed, opening the door and closing it behind him. It was a pity, It only said 'Hello'
As he made his way through his home he was quiet and careful, each step sure and soft. Each window he checked for the protective glow of fire. He then checked his parents room, both the windows had their flames lit, and his parents were still safe, he woke up earlier than they did, usually. This wasn't a subject to change, his father would be too exhausted if Sukoshi didn't check the perimeter himself. He then made his way outside, looking around in the mist that surrounded his lonely farm home. With a final trip around the house he was ready to begin his journey towards the more human inhabited islands of Kirigakure.
The air was thin and wet, as it often was, yet the fog was so thick, it made the boy tense. Others would think they were more alert like this, somehow safer than if they relaxed and submitted to whatever may come, but that was further from the truth than anything. Your reaction speed doesn't heighten because you are afraid, tense, ready to run. No. You only react more instinctively because you're in a state where you're outmatched.
Before Sukoshi could think about this any further, the bridge that connected his home to the shops and academy and homes of Kirigakure came into view, and he felt a relief, another battle, won by not having to fight, he quickened his pace with a smile as the mist lifted just a trifle, leaving from over his head and rather hovering over the water down below the bridge. He could finally see two feet in front of him, but the mist was still there, it always was.
He crossed the bridge and it had become apparent to him, finally that he had become aimless. The academy was closed, he had no requests from his parents, he didn't have an agenda. It was odd, as if fate possessed him to walk down the path of possible death, cross the bridge to civilization and wind up there. He was puzzled, but it would be quite some time before he would muster the strength to make another lone pilgrimage.
He made up his mind to brave the mean, or at least mildly belligerent streets of Kirigakure until he wound up at a park, reminding him of home, maybe with less threat of a beast attacking him. A human, however he wasn't too sure of. He crossed roughly half park and froze, his green eyes seeing a shape in the distance among the benches, maybe someone sitting on one of the park benches? At this hour? Either a murder has been committed, someone anti social has come out for their 3am social hour and overstayed, or someone without a home. He would try to call out to the figure, but all they'd hear is an unintelligible shout. Worth a try, he would still approach, slowly but surely.
