Rest for the Wicked (p, Toshi)

The day was long and arduous, the young Meijin herself having been training for the majority of it. No longer a child, she needed to learn to master her latent fire affinity quickly, or else she'd quickly fall behind the man who she saw as something of an older brother figure- or so she assumed. She's never been particularly close with any living relatives, after all. Her chakra was running low, and small burn blisters ran up and down her forearms, starting from her fingers. The current blasts of flame she created were small, intense, and unruly- they even burned their own wielder, if she wasn't cautious about where she was aiming. The worst of the burns had long since faded due to some particularly powerful healing ointments and last second minor healing jutsu, but the ashes of what used to be a beautiful rosebush, a table, and part of a picket white fence from the inn they were staying at were evidence enough of her efforts. Needless to say, she quickly booked it. She wandered around the small border town warily, keeping a peeled and watchful eye open for any suspicious persons. Other than herself and Toshizou, of course. She was also running relatively low on ryo- she wanted to save up for some nice weaponry and other ninja goodies (yay, knives!), but she couldn't quite afford anything yet- but looking around, there were quite a few people who looked like they had something, at least. She didn't need much, anyways. Around five hundred coins would do for what she wanted.
But getting the money would be another matter entirely- they weren't just going to hand it over, and if she caused too much of a scene she wasn't confident in her ability to escape from several enraged adults. So that left naught but her guile and wit- as per usual. She narrowed her eyes in a calculating fashion, taking in the appearances of the people who approached and walked past. She blended seamlessly with the crowd, her common features lending well to the appearance of being someone local. To the stranger over there, perhaps she was the daughter of the elderly lady she trailed, or to someone else the younger sister of the blacksmith. She reached her arms open wide, as if stretching... And quick as a mouse, she cut the strings of a stranger's ryo pouch, hiding it in her hand and up her sleeve. It was fairly heavy, and likely contained all that she needed. After a few more minutes of walking, she turned into an alley and opened the item in question, perusing the contents inside. Yeah, there was definitely quite a sum in this- she wouldn't have to pickpocket anything else. Now she just had to find Toshizou and a reliable weaponsmith. Nodding to herself, the girl found herself walking back to the tavern that the two frequented. Although she had no idea where he was, maybe she'd find her travelling partner somewhere in there...?

Why was he up this early again? Small yawns escaped the smoking mouth of Toshizou Shimada as he grabbed his cigarette before it had fell from his lips unto the ground and held it between two fingers. The male had been atop a single roof overlooking the entrance of the Black Market, his eyes watching a singular person train off in the distance of it for a moment. When did he adopt the habit of watching after strays? At some point she was no longer a stray and a sort of sibling, building a small symbiotic relationship that benefited them both. He wasn't in the market for betraying people nor would he allow it to happen to him. For that he wore the smile of a fox, both cunning and fierce but at the same time could play coy. The cigarette was placed firmly between his lips as he took an elongated drag, smoke slowly trailing from his nose and into the air as he spotted his quarry- a line of caravans coming into town.
A smile played along his face as he sat up and eyed the caravans not for their product, but for their people. Getting the goods might have been a little more arduous but getting something from the people? Child's play. The male rolled off of the rooftop, grabbing the ledge in his descent and then placing his feet onto its bare surface. With a subtle application of chakra he began to walk down the establishment and thus to the gates themselves to see what had been going on. Women, men and children alike came to the gates to peddle their wares, some legal and some not legal but good none the less. A hunter always chose their prey carefully, never choosing someone too easy but nothing too hard either. As he eyed a few people he saw his quarry, a young woman who was probably four years his junior. Walking over to her he would give her a small smile, the smile of a flirtatious male. She had looked him up and down for a moment before returning his smile and so it began.
The two talked for what seemed like hours though it had only been mere minutes before the woman was head over heels for him. The perks of being handsome and of a good age meant he could use it to his advantage. A slender hand went around her waist as he pulled her close, a whisper of sweet nothings filling her ears while his hand silently and meticulously worked their magic. At a moments notice he had what he wanted, but not before stealing one more thing. A supple kiss from a unknowing maiden ended the exchange with a promise to meet her at the tavern in which he ate and roomed. Whether or not he showed up was yet to be determined, but as she walked forward his hand was full. As he looked down at the Ryo pouch he smiled and tucked it into his pants and walked into the market once more to meet up with his surrogate little sister to see what she had been up to.
