Kozachi was curled up in a corner of a random alley in the Uchiha district. Her face wore a tired, harrowed expression, and her posture, such as it was, could be read as limp and useless. The daylight was long gone, now, and night had come. The moon was about a quarter high up in the sky, and shone brightly as its waning form ascended to its zenith in the sky. Kozachi wasn't exactly hiding, so to speak, she just wanted to be away from everyone else for a while. Solitude harmed some people, but to some others, it was a balm for their wounds.
Anri was dead. She'd only been told a few hours ago, and to be fair, she had known it was coming for a while now. It hadn't been long after she had run out of the hospital, all full of resolve and bitterness. The former had mostly melted away, and was now replaced by the latter in its entirety. It wasn't the fact that Anri was dead, however, that was weighing on her now, however. She wasn't the kind of person to complain about the inevitable. To stop the sun from rising was the worst kind of foolishness.
No indeed, she was pissed at the fact that it was her own father who had placed the genjutsu on Anri, slowly choking the life out of the girl over the course of a few weeks. The doctor had seemed frustrated, and rightfully so. After all, how was any doctor, even a psychologist, equipped to deal with the Uchiha clan's ocular prowess? Kozachi had witnessed her brother and others use such a power to their advantage before, and the thought of Anri going through something like that before being snuffed out had horrified her to the core.
What made it worse was the calm demeanor that her father had had. The reasoning her parents had given for the murder (for it was murder, wasn't it?) was that Kozachi didn't need to be held down by some kind of relationship, or at least one of that kind. She also knew her father wanted her to have children, which gave him extra spicy motivation. It didn't matter, though. Despite all her hard work and success, in the end, it had all been for nothing. She hadn't been able to break free and control her own fate. As they told her, she was still bound to the clan and its will, and what they did was for the good of the clan.
Oh, she'd play along with them for now. They thought they were so fucking smart, with their surveillance and their genjutsu. But she didn't have anything left to lose anymore. Even if they took Kenjiro from her, it didn't matter. Their relationship was important, but no longer the top priority. Regardless of the sacrifice, regardless of the method, she'd break free and shape her own future.
Only the results. The world only remembers the results of our actions.
