Task: Statues don't clean them selves kiddies, and that's why you get to do it. If it isn't spotless, the mission can be considered a failure. (Honestly if you fail at this, maybe you should take a break on the whole ninja thing.)
When you considered a ninja, what should stick out the most about them should be their ninja way. Ones own ninja way was something that drove them, their individualized flavoring to the livelihood of the job. After all, anything that constituted as a job or a lifestyle would force people to inject their own ideals into that system. It was their driving factor, their motivator, their muse. To put it simply, ones own ninja was was the governing factor that they used to prop themselves up as inspiration, and it was something that they wished to both share and protect.
For Bernie, this ninja way was the hope of socialistic ideals finding themselves into the continent, and being utilized to offer a better life to those who were under the governance of these ideals. This wasn't something that was going to be easy, but it was something that was worth fighting for. It would offer the chance of a better future, and the hope of leaving behind more to their children and grandchildren. Wasn't such a dream worth fighting, and if need be, dying for? Bernie certainly thought so, and it was that method of thinking that brought him out to do this mission today. Unlike the other two he had participated in, this one would be finished alone. He didn't need to bring someone with him for a task that would bring him so much joy and fulfillment.
His mission today was to clean the Mizukage Monument. It was a dedication to the leaders of the past, the ones who had shed blood sweat and tears to make the Island Country what it was today. Regardless of his thoughts on their policies and implementation of said policy, he respected them for the life and opportunity that they brought about though their sacrifice. It was with that thought in mind that he took himself to the statue with towel and bucket in hand, and he began to scrub the statues.
Luckily, there did not seem to be any hint of vandalism, nor was there even that much dirt or grime on them. The immortal busts of old kages were forever framed in the stone, less someone come around and purposefully destroy them. As he scrubbed away the accumulated muck, there was a part within Bernie that grew exceptionally curious. He wondered, if any of them were to come back to life and hear of his hopes for the future of the ninja world, how would they react? While he obviously hoped that they would embrace his ideas, the more rational side of his brain told him that they would not. Those who allowed themselves to be roped in and controlled by the accepted norm would never be the ones to break off those manipulative chains. No, Bernie would have to lead the political revolution.
Alone if need be.
With the statues no longer disgusting, Bernie sighed in content and pat one of them on their shoulder. They couldn't hear him, but he still thought it best to assure them that he would be doing this for the good of the many.
