No mission ever seemed too challenging for the Genin Rayul, well, at least while said the mission was within his Rank. He's done a few higher assignments before, and they did prove to be more challenging than what he previously tasked himself with. The Shinobi decided that he'd take it a little easy today, being that yesterday was his birthday, and this entire week was packed with some Intense training. Looking along with the mission board, he spotted a D-Rank mission that involved removing an infestation of rats that were gathered in the sewers of Komogakure no Sato. RIpping the paper from the board, Rayul stuffs it into his pocket as he walks with his hands behind his head out of the door of Mission Headquarters and into the streets of Kumo.
They didn't tell him how'd he get down there, but he knew a few ways, as would any civilian. Sewer drains were flooded throughout the city, and all he needed to do was find out, pull the lid up and descend below into the unknown. Easy enough, and when he located a sewage drain that was nestled between an alley beside the florist, he lowers his center of gravity as he pries the steel cover away from the hole, setting it aside as he readies to lower himself into it. He lifts his face mask moreover his nose, as the smell of feces emerges from the abyss beneath. "Goddamn, either waste control needs to step up their job, or I need to get paid more for picking this mission.", the young man thinks as he climbs the ladder that descends into the lower region. Making his way down, it isn't long before he spots his first victim. This was more than an infestation, in fact, the entire population of Kumogakure probably outmatched the number of rats he could gaze upon initially by not a huge margin. They were scattered everywhere, and as he turned on his flashlight so that he'd be able to better see in the dark. He does, however, at this point activate his Sharingan, just so he'd be able to keep up with the fast vermin, and also be able to see any sneak attacks from the gators he was told were down there as well.
As he walked along the wall of the sewers, he steps in countless puddles filled with feces and dead rats who most likely succumbed to the disease. The deeper into the network beneath Komo he went, the denser the population of rat seemed. Looking to his left, under a small section of the wall that has eroded, he notices the snout of a rather large and scaly animal. Lunging out from its den, 3 Alligators emerge, snarling at the man flashing light into their eyes. As he backs up, he slowly reaches behind him, pulling out an Explosive Tag. "Woah Woah Woah, there, guys.", he motions with his hands for the Alligators to stop moving as he tries to communicate with them. The closer they get, the further Rayul moves, and eventually his back is pinned against the opposite wall of the sewer. Cornered, but unafraid, knowing of what is about to take place, as the biggest of the gators begins dashing at Rayul, he tosses the explosive tag into the water that flowed between them. The other two gators follow suit, and as all three steps into the dead zone, Rayul detonates the tag, blowing the animals sky-high as he covers his ears to protect from the concentrated noise of the explosion. He turns back and looks at them, waiting their now split-open bodies lay motionless. "Easier done than said!", he jokes, yet the party was not over. The loud explosion shook the walls of the sewer, disturbing the den in which the alligators originated from, and looking towards the hole they crawled emerged even more Gators. "Aw shit....here we go again!", Rayul says and he holds his hands up chest-level. Knowing an ongoing barrage attack was imminent, he begins weaving hand signs. As the multitude of ferocious and angered beasts charge him, Rayul finishes weaving the "Horse-Tiger" signs, and breathing in heavy, he motions his hands up towards his lips as he releases all the built-up pressure from his lungs. As he blew, fire emerged from the boy's mouth in a stream, and once gaining some initial distance, formed a cone in front of the Genin. This instantly put the Gators in a halted position, and realizing their fate was now determined by the Cloud Ninja, were reduced to nothing but mere ash within a matter of seconds. Releasing the jutsu, he overlooks the swarm of creatures he killed with such finesse and celebrates the small victory over the sewer dwellers as he continues to dwell deeper into the zone.
Reaching a rather large and open area, this has to be where the Rats chose to settle permeate. As he looked around in confusion at how many he was, the entire floor was riddled with the vermin. Everywhere he looked, a black spec was located, and eat black spec was a fat rat that looked as if they've been down here for years. The entire ground was wet, and as he tried to move towards the center he was not able to avoid squishing some of the critters with his boot, due to how many there were. As he reaches the center, he looks around one more time before grabbing a small crate and standing upon it. Now protected against his plan, he weaves the "Ox" sign, causing his hand to be flooded with the pulsating lightning. As it crackled around his hand, Rayul motions his palm over the water, and finishing with a Snake Seal, he utters the words "Lighting Release: Lightning Arrow" before the chakra in his hand is focused into an electric beam that shoots into the water. As it makes contact, strands of lightning can be seen spreading in all directions among the water, electrocuting the now scattering rats, killing the weaker ones instantly and stripping the life from those better rounding slowly but surely. He held the jutsu's position for a few seconds, roughly 15 until he felt as if a reasonable amount of vermin were killed. As he releases the jutsu, he also lowers his Sharingan, allowing his eyes to revert to their normal state. He hops off the crate, stepping over the dead rats as he makes his way back towards the ladder in which he descended into this hell hole.
As he climbs back up, Rayul notices that the sun had risen, and as he pulled the cover of the sewer drain back into its original position, his eyes adjust to the shining of bright light in his face. Once he's able to see, he locks eye's with a Waste-Control worker who was about to go down into the sewers. He told the young man that he'd noticed the drain cover was removed and thought some punk went down there to graffiti up the walls. Rayul briefs the man upon the pest control he'd just finished up, and after thanking Rayul for doing his job, they both part opposite ways.
Rayul heads back to Mission Headquarter's to let the administrator know that at least 100 Rats and 20 Alligators were slaughtered by his hands alone that day, and after being commended on a job-well-done, he receives his pay before the Shinobi of the cloud stamps the seal of completion on yet another finished mission.
