The savior of Wood (Mission)
Wed Feb 05, 2020 5:47 am
Jesus was a carpenter you know <----- Mission being completed
The morning sun was not yet peeking over the horizon when keita was awoken from his sleep. he was lying on his stomach on the tatami mat on the ground where he slept, thinking that he might have had a bad dream, but when he tried to recall why he was suddenly woken up in a slight cold sweat, he could not think of anything that happened in his dream. It seemed to be at the very edges of his mind, and after a few moments of trying hard to actually remember what the hell he was dreaming about, it was gone, and he gave up. it seemed the fleeting thoughts and dreams that he had were not destined to be remembered by him, so he thought that it was useless to continue thinking about it, and get up to see what time it was. keita gazed out his window, seeing that a portion of the sky was starting to turn a lighter shade of dark blue, indicating that the sun was very slowly rising, although no one could see it quite yet. Keita usually got up and did things at around sunrise, but today he had woken up early, as he had not slept well for the past day or so. He made his way to the kitchen in his house, and started to put a small pot of water on to boil. He did not use the tea kettle, as it was a newer model that would whistle when the water started to boil, and he did not want to awaken his parents that were sleeping above him. He wanted a bit of coffee to start the day, and hoped that it would perk him up enough to go and complete this relatively simple mission that he was assigned to. He was to go to the outskirts of the village and assist one of the carpenters from the trade guild with repairing a fishing boat. He was fairly happy about this mission, as he already had some reputation with the fishermen for helping them carry all of their luggage and barrels of fish to the market square, and the fishermen seemed to like and respect him, or at least tolerate him and enjoy his company. With these thoughts in his mind Keita realized that his small pot of water had started to boil, so he quickly grabbed the coffee filter and a mug, and started draining the pot into the coffee filter with the grains, making sure to get all of the coffee grounds wet, and watched his mug fairly quickly fill with coffee. Keita was not one of those people who found it the manly thing to do to drink straight black coffee, so he made sure to put quite a bit of sugar and cream into his coffee as well, before stepping outside to enjoy the wet air and crisp cold temperature of the early morning, and watch the sunrise. With such an early start on his day, he took this time to relax and calm his mind so that he would be in his best shape for this mission, even though it was easy.
With Keita done with his morning ritual, he watched the sunrise slowly creep over the horizon and dye the mist a myriad number of colors, and once again relished and contemplated on the beauty of nature. if he had more time, Keita would have loved to try and capture this beauty and majesty with a bit of calligraphy, but alas, time was short, and he needed to get dressed and grab some scrolls, so that he would be ready for his mission. After getting ready, KEita quickly made his way back down to the docks and the wharf, where he would meet with the fishermen. There were not a lot of people out and about this early in the morning, and it was mostly the citizens with trade jobs or the village ninja with early morning missions, and he could tell that these ninja were tired and not quite ready, yawning and leaning on things as they made their way through the streets, some of the femalee shinobi even grabbing onto cups of coffee and holding it close as if their lives depended on the warmth that it brought to them. Still, Keita could not fault them for doing so, he might have done similar actions if he had not woken up a bit earlier today, but still, he continued on, and greeted the head fisherman once again. The head fisherman greeted back, and was pleasantly surprised to see keita come back to the docks so soon, and he quickly led Keita back to the fishing boat. once on the fishing boat, keita quickly found his balance, digesting the quick tips and advice from the local fishermen on how to get your see legs, as it were, and he was completely fine in no time. The lead fisherman than brought Keita down into the lower part of the fishing boat, where the carpenter that he was going to work under for the repairs was. Keita greeted him, and then simply politely waited for the carpenter to tell him what he had to do in order for him to make use of Keita, and soon there was a bit of a back and forth. Keita would pass the carpenter nails, some sort of liquid that he used to repair the ship, maybe it was some sort of liquid cement, Keita was not entirely sure, and some nails every once in a while. keita was acting more like an assistant than someone that was actually repairing the ship, but he did not mind, and simply did his job quietly and diligently, although there were quite a few times when keita could not hold his curiosity in and asked a few questions about the profession, such as why the carpenter was using a certain size and length of wood at certain spots and why he needed to use patches in others, and soon Keita learned a lot about making repairs on a boat. It seemed that the carpenter was more eager to teach Keita these things when he learned that Keita was sincere, and simply wanted to learn to satiate his curiosity, and not simply to make small talk. he had seen too many ninja that simply tried to get on his good side so that he would give them a high evaluation on his missions with meaningless talk, and so the carpenter had a bit of a bad reputation among the genin that accepted his missions, as he was more of a no nonsense type of person. But seeing as how Keita seemed to actually be curious and willing to learn, he would definitely give Keita some face and help appease his questions. Keita was a swift worker that knew how to listen to instructions, and soon the breach of the hull was repaired, and the excess water removed from the ship, and Keita parted ways with the fishermen and the docks once more. Keita then decided that he was going to grab a bit of a late lunch with some of the dock workers and chat it up with a bit of small talk, before going about the rest of his day, which mostly consisted of training.
