Entering Kumogakure

Volt knew. He overheard his parents last night talking about what was called the Mangekyou Sharingan, and how they shouldn’t talk about it or else they’d be killed. Volt should have left it at that, but he still couldn’t shake it from his mind. He wanted to know the truth, so he listened more. His parents talked about what it took to achieve, how it’d been a secret, then ultimately, how they planned on executing their vision. Then, they talked about what the villagers would do if they found out about their plan, what they’d do to their kids as well.

Volt didn’t know what to do. All he knew was that it was time to leave his home until he could figure out if his parents were criminals or not. Though, the moment that he left his home, he felt like he was being followed. It was night time, but even so he was on his way out to the village gates. He had no intention of asking permission to leave, so he walked right out the gates. If anyone was going to stop him, well, they’d have angsty Uchiha blood to deal with.

Night rounds were not an easy duty, but they were a duty nonetheless. The village operated as a military structure mixed with a civilian locale, for the sake of the ninja and the people that relied on their protection, and as such, it was necessary to keep the peace, as it were. That meant night walks, perched atop a building leaning atop a winding street that allowed one to look into the downtown, a blur at such a distance. And yet, for the trained eyes of the jounin, motion was easily detected, even in the dark of the night. Could’ve been an animal, but it looked bigger than one. Just for ease of mind, the jounin stood up and leaped off into the rooftop of another house, and from there on until he made into the intersection where he saw movement, as quickly and quietly as possible.

Someone was making their way to the village gates.

As quiet as a great cat, Kaito stalked his target, wondering if they would try and go on a night walk when no walk-outs were authorized.

As the figure walked out of the gates, Kaito leapt into the catwalk atop the wall, before lunging into the air with all his might and landing several meters in front of the figure, turning to face them. “For the crime of unauthorized attempted escape, you are under arrest. Resistance will be met with extreme prejudice. What do you have to say for yourself?”

"You don't know what I'm dealing with!" Volt cried out, "if I don't leave, then... then... I may get killed anyway. You have to understand... I have no choice! I'll be back... Someday I promise, when it's safe."

Volt was crying, not even able to see properly and just charged out the gates. He hoped his plea was worth a damn.

Always the same sad tale. At least he didn't try to bullshit Kaito, but nonetheless trying to run away was not an option. Regardless of rank, a brain could be surveyed for any valuable information, and Kaito wasn't about to let the secrets of the Kumogakure, however tiny, fall into the hands of another village or a skilled bandit. He grasped the handle of his katana firmly with his left hand, while the right hand grasped the hilt. Rushing his target, he closed the distance in a moment and drew, aiming at the broadest cut to sever the spinal cord of the running youth with tremendous speed and power. Should it connect, it would be a swift and painless death.

In Volt's mind he made it out the gate. Even after his spine was severed he still felt the breath of fresh air that told him that everything had gone according to plan. He just needed to get to safety... Then his top half hit the ground. He smiled. He'd only tripped. He could keep going, he just felt like resting now.... He closed his eyes and never opened them again.

A clean cut. It was not a warrior's death, but it was more than many could've hoped for. Many would've just gotten out of bed in the middle of the night too fast because they had to take a piss and their blood pressure would dip enough that their hearts would just stop.

Kaito did not feel particularly well with the manner in which the youth had died. If it were up to him, he would've died with weapon in hand, ferociously, an all in gamble for the two with their lives on the line, waiting to see the Gates. However, he couldn't spare the running ninja when he was so set on leaving.

He tried to look at the face of the youth, pale as the moonlight. Volt Uchiha. He had assigned him to Kira's team... guess he would have to be the bearer of bad news. With the warm blood flowing from the youth's body halves, Kaito performed a couple of handseals, and slowly the body parts would fade away from view and into his storage displacement.

Walking back into the village, he resentfully thought of the paperwork ahead of him. More importantly, he might have to talk with Rayul, regarding the death of one of his clansmen.
