Discovering one's legacy {Private}
Sun Feb 09, 2020 3:06 am
Pages scattered onto the queen sized comforter. The lavender haired woman sat cross legged on top of her soft bed. Eagerly searching for something. She continued to scavenge through her night stand that sat at the left of the bed. Pulling out stacks of papers that wasn't irrelevant at the moment. Her violet eyes scanned the almost empty drawer. Nothing. . . it wasn't in there. "Where is it?" Aroma pushed all the papers from her bed and onto the carpet. Littering her floor with her growing frustration. No matter how much time she spent searching, it was no where to be found. "Come ooooon!" Aroma's voice hissed underneath her breath. Pushing the drawer shut with a little soo much force. Causing a little bang from the impact. The frustrated kunoichi gave up. Throwing herself backwards onto the fluffy bed into a laying position. Letting out a defeated "huff". Aroma laid there with her back against the velvet black comforter. Her head was stuffed with thoughts, the clutter was almost suffocating. What she was looking for was something fairly important. There was no way she could have already lost it! If it was gone, then there was no way for her to get her hands on another. "I'm hopeless. . ." the female in distress whined loudly.
Then there was a sudden cute meow from underneath the queen sized bed. Aroma rolled over to the edge of her bed, as she leaned over to peer towards the sound came from. Her eyes adjusted to the darkness from underneath the bed. She blinked a few times, gazing at the fluffy body of her beloved orange Sebastian. "Sebastiaaaaan~ My little darling." Aroma coo'ed out the words in a loving way. Almost forgetting all about being frustrated only moments ago. The kitten let out a little purr from it's small body, before attempting to paw at an old box. First she didn't realize it. But after a few seconds of admiring her adorable feline friend, it finally clicked into place. "Perfect!! Sebastian you are a genius!" Her hands suddenly grabbed at the box he had been pawing at, and pulled it out from underneath the bed. "This is it. Thank you Sebastian." It wasn't gone forever after all. What a relief.
Aroma placed the rather tattered box onto her comforter in front of her. A triumphant smile spread across her face. Her little Sebastian leaped onto the bed. Pushing and rubbing his fuzzy little head onto her knee before curling up right next to her. Aroma's fingers ran through his orange soft fur delicately as he erupted into a fit of adorable purrs. After that she went to open the box. Prying the lid off and laying it to the side. Laying within the box was a scarlet book. It's velvet cover was obviously old. Something that was meant to be handled with care. Aroma withdrew the book from the box and set it amongst her lap. Her fingers trailed across the cover, before turning it over. Opening up to the first page inside.
When she was a child, her parents had found out that she held the potential to possess the clan's unique element. After the discovery, the young Aroma was handed off to the head of their clan. The potential was rare so it was frowned upon if the child was kept down low. The clan's leader wanted to forge anyone with the potential into ninja with more concentrated arts of assassins. Train them to be quieter, more graceful in their footwork and combat maneuvers. Numb them from any regret or guilt. So that they can carry out any mission no matter how brutal. To them that was the perfect shinobi.
Aroma first began her legacy, by watching her other gifted clansmen train. Their elegant movements was fluent and marvelous. They held a deadly, yet beautiful aura with every move they made. She had watched with wide eyes. This admiration pushed motivation onto her. It didn't take long for her to become eager to learn. But it wasnt time, the head clansmen had said. She was advised to spend at least another week watching them. Learning from sight first, and seeing how they correct themselves if they was to stumble. The little girl did what she was told, and learned from watching the other gifted. After the week was over, she was finally able to begin her training. Even at her age she was quite young to begin, but that was the way of Viperis. Not long after her training began. It focused on softening her footwork and making it much more fluent. Conditioning her body to become flexible until she was able to move in the most uncomfortable looking positions. If her movement wasn't fluent enough, then she was bound to fall.
Aroma followed the rules amd pushed her body to it's limits, but still she wanted more. She wanted to learn the advanced element of the clan. But they kept telling her that it wasn't time to.
She wasn't ready.
Her body wasn't ready.
Aroma heard this over and over again. She was never able to get them to comply to what she wanted, no matter how hard she tried.
'All in due time, Viperess'
Eventually the little girl stopped begging. She learned to stay silent and comply to their words. They was wise and she was still a child. A servant of the Viperis. If she grew strong enough, then she would be ready to learn her gift. It was then that they would finally teach her.
That time would be now. . . as Aroma allowed her eyes to read over the cursive scripted words. The words was written in a special form of vocabulary that only the gifted of the clan was taught. This was the beginning, of her finally learning the potential of the Viperis gift. All this time and it had finally arrived. She had listened to the stubborn old man's words. This book was a gift from him. A departure present that showed she had completed the first stage of training. The first stage took years to master, there was no telling what came next. Her violet hues continued to read over the script. Her fingertips gently turning each delicate page over to continue to the next set of information written before her. In the past she had been advised to learn water release, and now she knew why. The clan's advanced element was poison. To create the poison one must combine both water and yin chakra. It was done in a peculiar way to alter the properties of water into a more deadly state. Resulting into effects like decay and sickness of numerous forms.
Aroma briefly looked down at her hands. Marveling at the thought of such creation just at her fingertips. She would have to exercise the use of her water and yin to perfect this technique. No doubt it shouldn't take long for her to finally discover her potential. Finally, after all of these years of training and waiting for the right time. She would finally become a true Viperis. Her parents would be proud, and so would her clan. It was only a matter of time.

The sun rays continued to stream through the open sides of the window curtain. The day continued to grow onwards. Aroma continued to sit cross legged upon her bed with the ancient journal within her lap. Flipping through the delicate pages that held scripted knowledge and creases of age. She had learned the basics of what she needed for the clan's poison release. The last thing that the journal had to offer her was a little secret about her dojutsu. If it wasn't for this journal gifted to her, she would be so much in the dark on everything. Who knows how long it would have taken her to learn what she had withing theses past few hours. It might have taken day, maybe even weeks. Just to get a good understanding of her abilities and legacy. She was very much grateful for the advantage that the journal gave her. Her violet eyes scanned the pages, reading carefully over the inked script. Grasping onto every word as if it was dear to her.
Her clan resembled the characteristics of a snake. A viper to be more specific. That would be the reason of their clan name. Their use of toxin manipulations and oily blood was the rare trait, and then their dojutsu. Their eyes was known to resemble alot like a viper. With slitted diamond like pupils that gave off a very eerie vibe to them. Enough to where most the members would wear bindings just to keep from all the off looks that they would receive. Plus the Viperis clan was all about secrecy. They trained with the arts of a more profound ninja. One that was even more stealthier and silent. Forged and designed to execute their objective the same way an assassin would. Graceful footwork with a flexible body, almost as flexible as the body of a serpent. Their dojutsu fits for this reputation. With the bloodline being activated, one would gain the ability to sense heat signatures. This could be useful for long distances, or if there was something affecting the users normal line of sight. Like a thick mist or possible smoke obstructing clear vision. Then this would allow the dojutsu to be of use. One could even become familiar with one's particular heat pattern. All of this seemed useful to Aroma, as she continued to read the journal.
Her fingers still flipping through the pages. But it was obvious that she was growing closer to the end of her clan's provided knowledge. The layer of unread pages was dwindling down fast. Until there was no more pages to read from. With this Aroma closed the back of the books cover. Resting her palm against the rough velvet book. There was still questions she wanted answers to, but Aroma figured that would be up to her to find out. She couldn't help but feel absolutely grateful for the clan's headmaster providing her with such a helpful gift for departure. He had trusted her with this knowledge. Trusted that she would keep it safe and away from the hands of anyone who was nosey for selfish. She had succeeded in her duty to keep the clan's legacy away from unwelcomed prying eyes, and had been rewarded with the knowledge she needed to being her path. From here she could do the rest on her own.
Aroma moved towards the edge of her queen sized bed, before crawling out of it. Standing near the side of her bed, as she stretched her arms over her lavender head. Letting out a little soft "mew" as she stretched her back. "Sebastian are you hungry?" the kunoichi asked her beloved pet kitten. Watching as the orange fluff rose from his slumber and stretched as well. Then Sebastian pounced from the covers and onto the carpet below. Prancing his way to the kitchen with his little Masteress following behind his heels. After Aroma stepped foot into the kitchen, she turned towards the fridge. Retrieving a packaged salmon and setting it onto her clean countertop. The female then unwrapped the plastic from the pink salmon fillet and retrieved a kitchen knife from a drawer. She took the time and love to mince up the fillet into a perfectly prepared meal for her dear Sebastian. With the left over untouched salmon fillet, she tossed it into a pan with some oil and seasoning. Quickly frying up the slender piece until it was golden and it's flesh was tender. Then turning off her stove as she finished the meal's preparation. By this time Aroma had set down a adorable bowl filled with the minced salmon glazed with a little bit of fish broth for her kitty. Watching as Sebastian's orange fuzzy face buried itself into the bowl to munch.
Aroma had a plate in hand with her simple fried salmon fillet dressed upon the platter. She walked back into her bedroom while taking a bite of her meal. Yes she had bad habits, eating in her room was one of them. Her violet eyes gazed down upon the rough scarlet book that laid upon her comforter. She finished her morsel that was within her lips, before moving to set the plate on top of her bed stand. Only for a moment. The woman picked up the book, trailing her fingers delicately along it's surface one last time. She had gained so much within this first half of her day. Her clan's secrets had finally been revealed to her thirsty eyes. Now it was time to complete this stage of her duty. Approaching a black low rise table that stood at the back of her bedroom. This table was decorated with strange ornaments. There was a few candles set in place, all of them of white wax. Within the middle was a black cloth completely centered, and a bleached snake skull displayed upon it. A few more smaller ornaments scattered about this altar of her's. There was a few shards of some sort of mineral crystals, a few feathers, beads, and a metal plate that was elevated by prongs. Aroma placed the book of her clan's knowledge amongst the surface of the cool metal plate. Then withdrew a match from the altar. With a quick jerk of her fingers against a rough surface, the match was ablaze. Opening up the book to expose it's fragile old pages, before dropping the match onto it's vulnerable form. Her eyes watched as the book caught flame and burned before her. The ashes catching onto the metal plate. She was instructed to completely discard the book after she was finished reading. To make sure the clan's knowledge was continued to be hidden by others within all coat.

Despite everything, Aroma had a passionate love for plants. Variety of herbs to be more specific. The previous day, the lavender haired female had spent her day reading an old journal that had knowledge about her clan's unique abilities. Then after reading all that was to be read, she discarded the book like how she was instructed to. Burning the old an antique upon the metal place of her displayed altar. After that, the woman had called it a day. No need to overwhelm herself with so much just at the beginning.
Now Aroma would be by her altar that was displayed within the back of her room. By the wall opposite fron where her bed was. To the right of her altar, now more then three feet away, was a little stand that was positioned underneath one of her windows. This window in particular did have curtain, but they usually was pushed to the side or tied out of the way. On this stand would be a few potted plants that she tended to with care. Making sure to give them the proper amount of water and sunlight. So far she had rosemary, sage, and thyme resting on top of the stand. In their own individual pots, bathing within the wonderful sun wash, that peeped from the exposed windowsill. Aroma ran her fingers delicately over the stem of the rosemary. Admiring her little lush plants. The herbs was a lovely addit to her room, and added a hint of fragrance within the atmosphere. Now it was time to get some work done.
The woman was clothed in a comfortable pair of leggings and a t shirt. She moved to her altar to light the wicks of her white candles that scattered amongst her altar table, and then decided to light an incense as well. The fragrance smoke spiraled from the lit incense and spread throughout the bed room. As she was now satisfied with her altar and the adjusted settings, Aroma settled down onto her carpet. Crossing her legs in a cross legged positioned, while making sure she held proper posture. Her back was straight, her shoulders pushed back slightly. Violet eyes gently closes, allowing her soft eyelashes to brush and tickle against her cheekbones. Aroma placed her hands along her knees, as she breathed in deep. Controlling the pattern of her breathing, into a very smooth rhythm.
"Breath in," she felt her lungs fill with air as she focused on the rythim.
"Breath out," her lungs then deflate as her breath was released from her soft pink lips.
This method was continued for about thirty minutes. Relacing both her mind and soul as she meditated within her room. The fragrance of her burning incense was a welcoming experience, and helped her relaxed. Her state was calm and stable. She was able to achieve her mentally clear goal. Now that her mind was completely relaxed and clear, Aroma would bring in a simple little thought. Her eyes. . . this was the purpose of her meditation. She willed herself to focus on that one simple task. The lavender haired woman had a better understanding of her clan's dojutsu, and it was now her time to awaken it. She didn't particularly know if this method would work. But she heard about many benefits that came with meditation. Opening up ones mind and chakra flow, while direction your attention to one indi object. With nothing else getting in the way of it.
She felt her chakra flow within her. It was like the flow of a serpent over smooth stones. It's slick black scales smoothly venturing over a perfectly polished surface. This is how the woman viewed her chakra path. A beautiful black serpent running fast over a slick path. "Eyes of Medusa," Aroma spoke the name of her bloodline softly through slightly parted lips. Her mind focused on that one single spoken word. Then concentrated on the traits of that bloodline. The characteristics of this unique bloodline was like having the eyes of a snake. Eyes that gave off a eerie cold demeanor, do to it's reputation of resembling the eyes of a deadly viper. The pupils slitted like a snake's, and a deadly stare that seemed to emanate from the hues. Aroma understood the demeanor that her eyes gave off. She had seen people exchange dirty looks with her and even some coward away.
Her violet eyes in general didn't seem that scare to her. She didn't really under this reaction that was portrayed against her. Maybe it was just her dojutsu itself. Merely waiting in silence for it to be truly awakened. And giving her a reputation of a pester snake while doing so. That's how she was used to being treated. Like a deadly snake that was unwanted amongst the garden. So to avoid these unwanting views, Aroma usually traveled around with bindings. Most of her clansmen did, and now she sees why. Her people was small in numbers amd rare to come upon. So it was likely that people just wasn't use to their snake like presence. Besides, hiding away her eyes helped the clan to continue being a secret. They can't have a wide broadcast clan when they trained to work as assassins. Then it would just become inconvenient. If their eyes was seen, someone would already assume that they was up to no good. So it was her job to try and avoid too much suspicion on her part. It was much more better to run around looking like a blind person then be seen as a slithery viper amongst the crowd of many within her village, or anywhere to be exact.
Besides the point, back to the meditation. Aroma pushed her center of concentration onto the eyes. Letting the knowledge she had, fall into place like puzzle pieces. She felt the bubble of energy lace through her relaxed from. Her chin slightly tilted back as her long eye lashes began to flutter against her cheeks. A few long seconds seemed to tick by, just as her eye lids moved to open. Revealing her same violet snake eyes. But this time there was a more intense glow to them. The glow made them seem even deadlier then before, for who knows what reason. As the woman opened her eyes to her room. Everything would seem almost the same, except for a more warmer hue of color protruding from her windows. Suddenly her kitten Sebastian would plop down her the edge of her bed, and toss his fuzzy orange body against her arm. Begging and meowing for some attention and pets. The lavender haired woman gave in to his pleas, as her fingers wove through his soft fur. As she was gazing down onto the adorableness of her kitty. Aroma would realize that she could see red protruding from her cat's body. As if he was giving off an aura of some sorts. Then it clicked into place. Snake's had infrared vision, which allowed them to sense heat patterned. This helped them locate the body heat of a prey from long distances away, and was helpful due to them having poor eyesight. Aroma could see how this ability could prove to be useful in the future. |END|

|END|
