Bishop had made it to the new country that He would try to call home. At least for now. His next imperative was to strengthen his prowess, become strong and independent. Arcanis knew that if Bishop would be able to become his own person. And that was valuable to Arcanis as information. Bishop knew the memories and thoughts of Arcanis. But now that he was out in the world he wondered if it was wise to lock himself away to perform experiments in that dimension of his, excluding the outside world. Though the intention to have Bishop join him was less of a mandate and more of an offered opportunity. At least in Arcanis’ mind. Bishop wasn’t sure how he was supposed to be his own person living this continuation of someone else's life, but he supposed he had to find a time to do so.

The first thing Bishop wanted to do was to develop this skill that he felt a calling to. The talent with time and space manipulation was simply not important to him. He knew Arc’s need for it was not for power but for freedom. But with Arc around it was more important to learn ways to be more broadly useful.

No.

That was not how Bishop wanted to think it was not how Arc wanted him to think. It was hard to separate himself from Arc’s personality. He figured he would over time though. Maybe he should take a page out of Arc’s book of patience.

So Puppetry was the art of manipulating objects with tiny flows of chakra called chakra strings. This was done by manifesting your will and directing it into thread like strands that were then attached to objects and used to influence those objects. But that would take a lot of practice and on top of that it took a ton of visualization training especially when trying to learn it by yourself. Commonly Puppeteers would learn from someone else and would have a puppet to test it on. To be honest this path was not one that it made sense for Bishop to walk. However with a will there's a way. Bishop went out to a grassy knoll that they had out here in this country. It reminded Bishop of Arc’s memories of a sprawling landscape he had once visited with massive floating islands and plains made of razor sharp grass. Mountains that split with the ringing of hammers and the pounding to forges in the deep, it had massive forests full of great beasts and massive swaths of land decaying and full of filth and insects.

Bishop began to mold his chakra into what he imagined were string like threads from the tips of his fingers. He started by simply focusing on releasing chakra from his fingertips. This in itself was not simple. But after a few minutes he could feel his fingertips tingle with the sensation of his chakra. Bishop then allowed the chakra to droop with the pull of gravity. He was hoping with this visualization he would be able to use gravity to lengthen and make his thread more stringy. He imagined the threads being like trails of syrup dripping from his fingers. With that he was able to imagine being able to stick his threads to objects and that was the first step to controlling objects with them.

The expenditure of chakra was not the easiest thing in the world it turned out and Bishop found himself severely lacking in chakra after a few minutes. He fell backwards and laid on the grass. He had now strength left. The few minutes seemed to drain him entirely. Which was bad. A puppet master needed to be able to use their threads without passing out.

When Bishop woke up he was able to sit up and he sighed. It had to have been the next day by the feeling in his stomach. He had to find a way to get some food. His ability to continue train relied on it. Maybe he would try training the skills he had and get some food at the same time. In town he went through the marketplace to the produce section. Turning down an abandoned alley Bishop sat on a crate and looked at his hands. One of the aspects he would need to be able to manipulate was the ability to control the threads themselves and individually to properly utilize the puppet jutsu. He pressed his fingers together with the corresponding finger of the other hand and attached his chakra to the other finger. Pulling his hands apart he could feel the tension in the threads. They were certainly physical at this point. They were even visible now clearly taking on a more substantial tangible aspect. Bishop wasn’t sure if that was good but he was running on empty so it was time for him to figure out a way to get some food. Peeking out of the alleyway Bishop located his targets. He moved back into the shadow of the alley and extended his threads down to the ground and then began to crawl them across the ground. Bishop was amazed that it was working just as he envisioned. The threads crawled out of the alley slowly so as to not draw attention. The crept around and underneath booths and up the sides as the threads did his will. Two threads went left and one went right targeting a few pieced of fruit and a roll from different carts. Somehow Bishop had this connection with his threads like he knew when they connected with the few pieces of food he was trying to steal. Swiftly he wound in the threads pulling the pieces of food along the path back to his hands. As they moved though he was already turning and leaving the marketplace. Leaping over a wooden fence in the back of the alley catching the apple orange and roll as he went. With a couple steps up a couple crates on the other side and a step or two on the wall of a building, he was up and over the edge of the roof and out of site.

The food was somehow even more delicious having been stolen. And somehow it completely recharged him ready for another go at the technique he was quickly getting the hang of. He needed to develop his ability to control the precision of his Threads but he supposed that was for another day.
