Task: The client has requested help to find her missing cat. Well, the cat isn’t missing, but within their large establishment, it is running around outside as it doesn’t want to be found. The client needs you to catch her cat, so that she can take the cat to get its annual checkup, which the cat hates. Capture the cat, and return it to the client.
"Mr. Stallone should be somewhere here!" An older lady stood before Kurado, she was turning around on her heel, looking all about the interior of her mansion. Several candles lit every room, providing a light against the darkness that was creeping in as the sun dipped below the horizon — apparently she wasn't rich enough for electricity? "He always seems to know when it's that time of year... and he's getting older in age... if I don't take him for his check up, he might have diabeetus, like his father, and he before him!" Kurado's eyes narrowed. It seemed like every sentence she spoke, she said something that just... didn't make sense.
Kurado moved past the lady, holding in his disdain for the mission. "Don't worry ma'am, I'll find him," he reassured her, giving a slight nod to her as he climbed the stairs that lead up to the second and third stories of her home.
"Okay...! Just, be careful! He likes to claw and run away if you get too close! He's wily like a coyote!" She called out, Kurado largely ignoring her as he made his way deeper into the mansion.
About ten minutes had passed, Kurado examining carpets and rugs for fur. Frames around doors for claw marks. Smelling around for any sign of... excrement. If he knew anything about cats, that they were tiny terrors. Some sort of sign of destruction should be the clue that the beast was near. Kurado had faced spirits and monsters, but cats? They were truly mysterious and suspicious creatures.
On the third floor, a door was left slightly ajar. Bits of white fur laid along the lower frame of the door, as if Mr. Stallone had rubbed his face against it. As cats were wont to do. "Mr. Stallone?" Kurado said, in his best sing-songy voice. He called out the cat's name gently, closing the door behind him as he entered what appeared to be a guest room. He had sealed the beast in the room. But, who was locked in with who?
Suddenly, a vicious snarl came from under the bed. Kurado nearly jumped, reaching for his weapon's pouch, almost instinctually going for a kunai to defend himself. With one swift movement, the young man reached out a free hand to grab the approaching feline by his scruff, and his other hand toward his kunai, which thankfully remained at his side. A bead of sweat trickled down Kurado's head... he had almost stabbed the cat out of pure defense response. That would have been disastrous. Kurado stared into the eyes of Mr. Stallone now. He was a very light blonde cat, with white fur around his face that made him look like he had a thick white mustache. The cat was growling and squirming, trying to get away, claws desperately reaching out. No such luck, Mr. Stallone.
Bringing back the prize, Kurado returned to the first floor, the old woman had hardly moved from her initial position. Tears nearly welled up in her eyes. "Oh, you found him! Thank goodness! Oh this was so much easier than last year! You should have seen what he did to all the tweety birds I had in the third floor guest room!" Kurado's eye twitched. "Here! Put him in his cage!"
Without a moment's hesitation, Kurado put the creature into a cage, locking the door to the tiny cat crate, hand reeling back before the beast had a chance to strike. "Thank you so much, young man! Would you like to stay for—?"
"Sorry ma'am, I'm supposed to return promptly to the mission center," he lied, "but, I hope you have a good night." Kurado hardly gave the old lady a chance to respond before leaving the mansion, tugging on his cloak and venturing back out to the streets of Kiri.
