- Spoiler:
- Mission Name: Dammit Jim, I'm a ninja, not a doctor
Rank: C
Type: Supply, organization
Character Requirements: --
Mission Location: Sunagakure's hospital
Word Count Requirements: 2,000
Challenges: --
Repeatable? Yes
NPC? --
Reward: 2,000 ryo, 5 AP, 3 meters of bandages per participant, 1 syringe per participant
Task: It's no secret that the hospital of Sunagakure is understaffed and underfunded. You've been tasked with going through their inventory, sorting out expired medicines from the useful ones, the moldy bandages from the clean ones, etc etc. If you find anything useful, though, there's nothing stopping you from taking a few select pieces for yourself.
So, had it been ten missions already? Apparently so as Mikofujo reflected to herself about the summons for her tenth task for the village hidden in the sand, this time she was set to help the hospital with sorting through supplies that had sat in a storage room for quite some time. There would probably be some expired medicine and faulty bandages that had to be rid of to ensure that they were not accidentally used and endangered any patient. Such mundane tasks ended up being quite essential to the functioning of a village that housed a psuedo military as it's main source of revenue. Donning her dark purple gi and black velvet gloves the genin departed her house and started to make her way towards the hospital of the village to do her duty for that day.
The ninja continued through the early morning to encounter a low amount of foot traffic, allowing her to have a casual stroll throughout her journey and admire the slight changes to the scenery on the way. It had been some time since she had first entered the village and it was nice to see the ebb and flow of life and how it affected it's districts from day to day. The subtle differences were not to be underestimated by those who could notice their changes as they painted pictures of the everyday lives of the inhabitants of that particular neighborhood. While it was not an essential part of being a ninja, Miko reckoned to herself that the observing would help her skills in battle even if they were practiced on something like this.
The observing was why she had left so early in the first place after all, it took her quite some time as she anticipated but before the sun was too high into the sky she had reached the building that she needed to. Now it was time to get down to business.

While the facility was large, it was also old and had seen better days it almost seemed to be one of the only buildings that survived the destruction of the prior rendition of the village hidden in the sand though Miko knew little about such events and could not definitively say anything of the sort. Still the place loomed above the ninja as she approached it, it was bigger than the science facility that she had already been too and that had been the biggest building she had been in before this. There was a bit of anxiety that naturally accompanied such an action but it was overcome with only a bit of an emotional struggle. Swallowing her slight amounts of fear, Miko would grab the handle of the door and turn opening herself up to the experience she would have on this mission.
Since she was going to be sorting through medical supplies she would have to figure out where the room was that the materials were located in, as such it seemed that once more the girl would have to approach the front desk and interact with a clerk for directions. While running a hospital may be hard, if it didnt require approaching others socially Mikofujo would rather be doing that than what she was about to do. Still the deed needed to be done and the girl had steeled herself to do so, walking up the interaction, like always, was much easier than the kunochi had anticipated resulting in the info she required without much pain at all. It was starting to amaze her how other people did not berate her for speaking to them, a new experience but one that she was quickly growing to enjoy far more than even her increasing power in jutsu. Though those had gotten rather intense with high ranking Weaponry, Puppetry, and Sensory techniques now in her arsenal she could refocus her efforts on building a base for her to build her skills up from. It was also long past due that she got some more puppets made, one sat mostly finished in her workshop but one thing was missing from it and the kunochi simply did not know what. As it stood, it would not be much time before she calculated that she would be capable of defending the village in some noticeable manner and that fact made her fill with a sense of communal pride.
Yet again it turned out that the room in question would be in the basement, which would explain why they had worried about the goods spoiling so much as basements could often be environments that hastened decay. Mikofujo did not despair however and did not mind going underground into relatively dark, enclosed spaces. The earthen places where were she felt most at home, most safe, her chakra nature probably had more than a bit to do with that feeling but it did not matter too much due to the results in the end. Once more the ninja was going down a flight of stairs to a room in a large building but this time she was not set to meet someone but sort through bandages instead. It would be interesting to see how that task would end up going down.

The door to the room was opened and the supplies seemed to have already been dumped out onto the floor as though someone else was sent to do the task before they gave up mid-action or perhaps was drawn away as it was decided the time investment would be too high. There was a lot of stuff on the floor here after all, luckily the cabinets lining the walls still functioned and the material could be put back in an orderly fashion no problem. The room itself was not a gigantic affair but was decently sized and roughly twenty five by twenty five feet if Mikofujo was to guess. There was a desk and three chairs as well as a couple tables in the room, one of which held a plant that was still somehow watered despite this room not getting a lot of use for the supplies to fall into disuse in the first place. It must have started out as some sort of an office and was later retrofitted to be a glorified supply closet, probably an action by a petty boss to spite some past employee. Nonetheless the shinobi had a task that she had to preform so she set about to it, analyzing the room as she went.
It seemed as though it would not be a big ordeal after all and function more like most of her missions that were boring, unlike say the one time she captured the genjutsu con-artist. What happened to that woman Miko pondered to herself as she set about sorting the piles on the floor into bandages, medicine, and other supplies so she could end up putting them away easier after determining which goods had soured. It was the only mission where one could claim combat happened, sure she used a jutsu another time when a mine almost collapsed and she had to free a person from being crushed but overall her missions had been rather mundane, regular jobs. That had suited her just fine but she was beginning to year for harder challenges to push herself to new heights and achieve more than she thought that she could.
It was not a thought provoking task but it was time consuming and so after three hours the kunochi finally finished sorting through the mound of material on the floor and could start checking what was expired, rotten, broken or just generally not usable anymore. From there she would make a pile for the 'trash' and then put the usable goods away in their proper places as dictated by the labeling for the drawers in the room. This too would take time but it would be a bit more engaging than the floor sweepings she had been doing, so Mikofujo had been looking forward to it. It seemed like she was almost done with another mission already, another achievement for her quiver and this was nice but it also fell short of the dopamine reward she received for her earlier missions. The puppeteer was determined to now try out something harder soon after this mission so she could feel as though she had broken through her first plateau and truly grown as a person and a ninja.

The bandages were easy to sort through, they would not expire like the medications but instead rot or wear so one simply had to test them in some regard and moved on. The best were the wraps in which Mikofujo would simply pull on them to make sure they still could stretch and retract like a proper wrap should in order to brace and support. A proper bandage could stave off the effects of a dire blood drain wound or help keep a healing bone in place to ensure it realigns properly. It was extremely helpful in healthcare even when considering chakra based remedies, though it seemed small and unimportant. This was the way of quite a few things in the world though one would have to pause to consider them or know them from daily interaction, knowledge while being power also widened the world as well to many fascinating things that could normally be passed over without regard.
Overall it only took an hour and a half to sort through the bandages, so it seemed like the shinobi would be able to complete their task before the day was completed. Which was good as this task was rather boring and solitary, which the genin had received a bit too much of lately to desire that experience once again. This combined with the undercutting of her expectations that others would not desire her to speak had caused a new itch within the psyche of the girl, she actually desired to converse with others for once in her life. To seek another's opinion on her battle techniques was something that was surprising to her as well, before this she avoided any form of conflict and while she would not seek it out she did not shirk from the idea of defending the village. Mikofujo just wanted to make sure that she defended Suna the best way that she possibly could and did not leave an idea on the sideline due to not talking to other people and seeing the insights they may have to give to her. Life was too short to not peer through the lenses that were another person's eyes and picking their brain with one's tongue and ears. It was truly fascinating the complexities one could even find out in a short amount of time, the doctor and old man had taught Miko that through their interactions. While the time she had spent with both people respectively had been brief it had allowed her to learn how important it was to talk to others and get to know some of them, people were not always bad as her childhood had lead her to believe after all.
While lost in the thought of those things the shinobi had sorted through most of the medicine and was now just down to the pill containers to put away. The pile of to be disposed waste medical supplies was not that large and she was certain she could easily just cart it out in the trash bin the room already had in it. Overall the mission had not been a big hassle, or too much of a problem to her but the boredom solidified her ideas of taking on more daring stuff for her tasks in the village. The drive to grow and move forward with her development as a ninja compelled the young shinobi to try and think of some ways to ask for some more risky missions and with that in her mind she took the trash out of the building and waved to the person at the front desk on her way out on to bigger and better things.
