The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

Sat Dec 05, 2020 10:39 pm
It was clear that the doctor held strong, unwavering feelings of hatred towards the faith. Loghain understood that there were differences of opinion as to what their place in society was supposed to be, but didn’t think that those of the cloth hated the shinobi. He would follow the man, not permitted to leave his presence. Honesty the wolf didn’t really wish to separate. The last thing he would want is to be unsupervised around this many civilians.

They would head down a street with various food stalls, the fragrant scents of cooking food filling Sebastian with hunger pangs. Almost as soon as the thought of asking for a meal came to the mind of the wolf, the Nova officer ordered food and handed him some as if he could read the mind of the young man. Graciously the hungry man would accept and begin to eat the fries one by one, the cheese sauce and bits of bacon complimenting one another perfectly. Grateful for the meal he would offer a quick, “Thanks.”

Loghain would listen to the history lesson as he ate and followed the Terumi. His words were calm but one could tell there was a burning passion behind them. “I am not as well versed in the matter as yourself, but my mother spoke of me being taken by the royal guard if I developed chakra.” He would pause, using this time to fill his mouth with another cluster of fries. “How was being forced to serve the royal family different than being forced to serve the shinobi ruler… this Hogokage?” His words held no malice towards his shinobi was of life, he was just curious to the man’s thoughts on the matter. He didn’t grasp the subtle difference of the two ruling bodies. To him a master was a master, and his life was in the hands of others. With a simple order, either could command him into a life ending mission.

The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

"You were lucky if you got taken by the royalty, then the zealots couldn't touch you." Akabayashi would state eating his food with a fork so as to not get cheese all over his hands. There were some on the stall they were just at. Seeing as Sebastian was already digging in, he didn't feel the need to grab an extra fries were fingerfoot anyway, a fork was not required. From the wolf's tone one could tell he was rather fond of the church. Just like Kyousuke.

When the Nova concluded his business at the hospital his question would be met with silence. "So, the training grounds." He would state starting to head into that direction. "What type of jutsu do you use your Preference?" When Sebastian answered the question the Terumi would nod. "Lets go practice a little, maybe we can both learn something." Unless spoken to, the Terumi would be silent until they reached the training grounds.

The sound of exposions and rushing water could be heard long before you reached the place.  Before you could see it the smell of burnt lumber would be carried on strong winds. Once, outside the entrance the Terumi would walk inside he hadn't been to this area in a long time. What he would he discover here after so long?

The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

Wed Dec 09, 2020 7:36 pm
It would seem that those with chakra had to live in the shadow of death, their lives easily taken by those that feared their powers. It brought up the question of whether or not the church was a force of good or not, but Loghain knew his own thoughts on this matter and it would take a great deal of effort to change his mind on such a thing. The man would finish his fries and continue to follow, wondering if this was just the feelings of this shinobi or if it was the beliefs of the shinobi at large. If all of the shinobi felt this… it likely wouldn’t be long before action would be taken, though he wasn’t sure if the attacks would be overt or not. Who knows? Perhaps there was already a war being fought in the shadows.

It would seem as though they were heading to some sort of training area, the noise of battle clear to all that could hear it. The Nova officer would then ask a puzzling question, one he didn’t really have any answer for. “Jutsu? I must say honestly that I am untrained in such things.” Sebastian would say, curious as to what sort of things these shinobi were capable of. He knew the stories, though it was hard to determine where facts stopped and fiction began.

“I was only taught the very basics… enough that they could call me a part of their forces. I mostly survive through my,” He would pause, not wanting to say it out loud but knowing that this man saw clearly on his paperwork what he was. “Let us just call it natural instinct.” He was of course referring to the bestial wolf inside him, oftentimes completely outside of his control. He was trying to come to grips with controlling this transformation, but such a task was best done far away from civilians as to not have a massacre on his hands.

“I am uncertain if you want to try and draw out the beast or not. I tend to lose control and hurt people…”

The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

Thu Dec 10, 2020 1:47 am
So, they didn't teach the wolf a thing. Just that he was to avoid the village without a keeper and live outside the safety of the gates. He also seemed to take issue with what he was calling it an instinct instead of a talent. "Your beast self." He would say to Loghain hoping he would get the dude to say it one day.

Whether or not Akabayashi wished to draw out this beast that would be determined in the future. The Terumi sensed that even if he didn't try to force it, he would see it someday. "Am I trying no, will I be sad if it happens to come out also no. But, where is a better place? You aren't near regular civilians anymore all people in this training grounds are practicing their jutsu." He would move a little away and take a kunai from the ground, then moving his clothes so that his shoulder was exposed he would stab himself before removing the blade.

Even though the Nova had done it and he tried to hide the pain he still winced as he quickly made seals for the basic medical ninjutsu and waved the blue aura gathered on his hands over the wound. "They don't call me Doctor T for nothing." He would say the wound closing within seconds. "It won't be a problem if you lose control near me. I can bring back the dead and heal injuries, my point is don't really worry about it. I brought you here to see what you know and how this affliction of yours affects your body. Can't be a good doctor if I don't know whats happening."

The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

The words of the Terumi burned his ears, yet they rang true. This ‘beast self’ was always bubbling under the surface and this place was as far away from those he could easily hurt that it might be okay to let it out here. These shinobi were likely all far better trained than he had been. Then the senior officer would step back and stab himself, an attempt to drive the point home even further. The young wolf was in good hands, for who better to keep those around him safe than someone that could fix any and all of the damage he could do. Still, the scent of fresh blood caused Loghain’s nose and lip to twitch unnervingly.

“Maybe you are right.” The man would say stretching his body to loosen his muscles some. He typically avoided actively trying to draw out the wolf since it tended to make him lose himself in bloodlust. He would take his shirt off, allowing his bare chest to be exposed. He was surprisingly well build for someone not rigorously trained as a soldier. “I am not entirely sure what triggers it. I would say that it was danger or stress, but there have been times I transformed for what seems like no reason at all. What do you think I should try first?” Loghain would ask, leaning on the wisdom of the experienced doctor. Biology was likely something the Terumi was intimately familiar with, though it was likely that Sebastian’s was a little different than a typical human.

The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

The doctor would scrunch his face in confusion as the wolfman took off his shirt. "Does transforming destroy your clothes?" He would ask, there was a cloth sold in Hoshi which could help the guy. Manipulated Fabric an invention by the first Hogokage to use jutsu requiring transformations in the body. "You should check the shops for manipulated fabric if you are it can expand and move to use your claws and your tail, if you get one of those."

The Terumi would study Loghain's body. "Hmm, in my experience Kyousuke had a similar problem. Sometimes it was random, sometimes channeled, and other times under his complete control." He would go to the other side of Loghain listening to his heartrate. Could be adrenaline or if we were in a movie the full moon. "How do you feel before you transform? Are you more sensitive to light, hear things, smell stuff... Does, your heart race?" The Doctor was just listing some physical symptoms for referance.

Taking a pen and notepad from his pocket he would pace back and forth. "How do we stop an undesirable change?" He would seemingly ask himself. "A sedative, serum derived from the blood? Is this even a natural part of him or an affliction?" He would tap the pen off his head. "How long have you been going wolf?" The man would ask putting pen to paper waiting for the answer.

The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

Fri Dec 11, 2020 10:35 pm
A fairly normal question, and one that Loghain expected, “Every time that I have come to, I was clothed. I would imagine that means that it doesn’t tear my clothes, though I know nothing for certain.” He would continue to stretch and also mentally prepare for the pain he knows is coming. “I removed the shirt so that you can see what my body does. I have never witnessed myself transform, so perhaps it may shed light on it.” Would such a thing help? Who knows, but he would try to give the doctor as much to work with as he could. “If you think it would help, I will look into this magic fabric you speak of.”

The Terumi checked Loghain’s heartrate while asking simple questions that may help identify the catalyst for his bestial transformation. Describing how he felt was something that he had not ever done before. "When it starts, there is a throbbing pain in my skull, like I was just struck in the head by a falling timber. It doesn’t take long before I start to have difficulty thinking, all that I can focus on being sensory input. Scents are more pungent, colors more vibrant, sounds booming. My body starts to ache everywhere, my muscles burning as if they were being torn fiber by fiber. The pain… there is a lot of pain.” He wasn’t sure whether or not his heartrate would increase, but the medical specialist would know that pain tends to cause an increased heart rate as the body naturally tries to respond to it.

The officer would continue to examine his patient, muttering questions to himself out loud. Loghain wished that he would just be able to drink some sort of concoction and prevent himself from shifting. There would be a great deal of saved bloodshed if such a thing were to exist, along with a sense of relief from the young werewolf. “These changes started about three or four years ago, when I was about sixteen.” The exact timing these started was hard to pin down. Once he began his exile days, weeks, even months all seemed to start to blend together. “My mother thought that the changes of puberty might cause me to start developing some sort of changes, but she never talked much about it. I always thought my father must have been a shinobi and she feared me developing chakra and being taken away.” He would shake his head, “If only it were something so simple.”

The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

Okay, so he removed his clothes just to show off his abs. Once, the explanation was given the Doctor understood the point. He wished the Terumi to overlook the transformation, hoping it would add a semblance of understanding. In all honesty it was still a bit confusing, an ability that someone couldn't control yet possessed. Having to live in fear and solitude, because you were afraid of what you might do. A lonely existence. Even though the story was sad, the Terumi didn't feel bad that he was getting to study whatever this Sanies Lupinus was.

Listening as Loghain spoke the pen would fly leaving the typical scribble scrabble marks no one could read except for a doctor. The words on the page unrecognizable from what Loghain had said. Headache, trouble thinking, followed by greater sensory excitation. Then a lot of burning pain in the muscles. The pen would stop, when he asked the self directed questions and the one on how long Loghain had been cursed.

"Hmm, four years." He would say the pen tapping off his pad again. "Did your mother talk about being a ninja herself or your father?" From what the Terumi gathered this might be a clan trait, developed in the late teens. While similar to Kyousuke's it was different his was imparted at birth. "Odd, that this started so late in your life. Clan traits are something most have their whole life. While some develop over time caused by some trigger. What do you remember happening the first time you transformed?"

The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

Sun Dec 13, 2020 9:53 pm
When prompted with the question of what his mother said regarding his heritage, the young wolf would simply shake his head with disappointment. “My mother was no shinobi, or at least if she had been she managed to hide it from everyone around her and never be discovered. We never talked much about my father, though I imagine he must have been a shinobi…” This of course simple glossed over the fact that this lycanthropic heritage must have been passed to him somehow, and his father was likely the one to pass it to him. Of course Loghain had not put this all together, at least not consciously. Of course he knew… some part of him always knew, at least ever since this cursed affliction grabbed hold of him.

He couldn’t say that he knew much about clan heritage… up until this all started he was just a simple laborer, not some sort of trained assassin for the village. “The first time it happened?” The man would look down, his expression a blended combination of sorrow and shame. The first time was terrifying and grisly, a scene that even a trained warrior would become queasy at the sight of. “I was out in the woods, collecting logs for lumber,” the wolf would say, pointing towards the woods where it had happened. “We were attacked by bandits, likely intending to rob us of all we had. Then pain…” Sebastian Loghain would rub his temples, his thoughts seemingly paining him more than one might think. “The next thing that I knew, I work up covered in blood. There were,” He would pause taking a hard swallow before finally describing the visceral scene, parts of both the bandits and laborers spread in bloody heaps all around the ground and trees. It was… horrible.

The Mongrel - Page 2 Empty Re: The Mongrel

Mon Dec 14, 2020 7:55 pm
As far as background information on the subject was going he was getting a solid nada. His mother hadn't told Loghain much in terms of his lineage especially for his father something not uncommon. The unusual thing being that his father likely passed down a unusually dangerous kekkei genkai.

The answer to the other question asked about the first transformation yielded much more information. It seemed to hurt Sebastian to just talk about it, he would pat the wolf's shoulder. "I know its hard to talk about, but that was key information." The pen would fly once more as he wrote about how danger triggered the curse, but was it necessarily danger or adrenaline. He didn't plan to ask about the state of the bodies and how many, enough detail was given piles of body and covered in the blood of all parties. As his identification stated he was prone to losing himself when transformed.

"I think one trigger of your transformation is stress." The statement likely obvious he would move on. "Maybe, the key to control is to up your stress threshold. Its like drinking at first you get drunk off of a few beers and then as your tolerance raises it takes more to get drunk." The explanation was a farcry from killing people without regard, but it was still a good test. "Now, we need to establish a baseline. What stresses you out the most?" Hopefully, it wasn't actual danger it would be hard to find any where they were. There were plenty of heavy objects to move maybe that would do the trick.
