Arantima woke from his sleep with a loud yawn and stretch, he was not quite used to his new home but he was getting there as it was far more comfortable than anything he was used to. He lept from the bed and went over to his mirror where he washed his face from a basin of cool water he kept next to his mirror, he looked into it and slicked back his hair with the water as he looked closer at himself and the changes he had been under, he opened his mouth and extended his fangs and retracted them, he lifted his hand and extending his nails out to their full four inches before settling on them being 2 inches long on each hand which he files down to a razor tipped point for aesthetic purposes.
Today was his day to lead another genin on a few missions in the borderlands, and while he felt safe enough knowing that other Suna ninja could come and protect them if something went wrong he knew he would have to hold his ground until any help could come but he was confident enough in his ability to do just that. He could not recall much about the other genin other than their name was Itsumi and that they were a rather fresh genin who had a thing for panda's and a two tone hair color which he found quite adorable. He dressed himself and collected his equipment for the day ahead, carrying with him his usual assortment of items in his weapon pouch and tying his Twin demon lance to hang from his waist like a belt with the blades hanging down along his thighs with his fuma Shuriken down the length of his right thigh held there by a band of leather.
Arantima arrived at the gates a few hours later when the sun was just cresting over the horizon so they could be early enough leaving from the village gates without having any light to travel by. He waited for Itsumi to arrive and when she did he greeted her with a warm smile and a gentle wave, His hair was a bit longer and more wild than last time she had seen him as were his nails but that was about the most of the changes she would be able to notice before he called out to her "Itsumi! Over here! How did you sleep? I hope you got a good nights rest because today we have a few missions to do and only a short time to do them all!"
It was clear he was excited to start his journey today and he was clearly a rather excitable person but with what he was wearing he was also obviously ready for anything that could happen outside of the Village walls. He spoke again when she got closer "I'm Arantima.. But you can call me Tima. I know We already introduced ourselves once before but it can never hurt to do it again y'know? So.. I know you are training with some space time jutsus, but have you thought about anything else you want to focus on? Missions are a great place to pick up and try new things."

Itsumi was ready for the opportunity to stretch her legs outside of the village. After hearing the banging of pots down stairs she quickly jumped into her clothes and dunked her head in cool water. As she walked through the restaurant, she stuffed her weapon pouches. She waved good bye to her family as they began early kitchen prep work, and left out the front door shutting it loudly. Then quickly opened the door again to doubled back and nab food while her parents were busy. After stuffing her face, she set off to the village gates with gusto. As she started to make out a vaguely familiar silhouette, she heard Arantima call out for her and waved back to him.
“Morning, I did and hope you had a pleasant rest as well! Hmm so Tima then, I guess I’ll have to learn to be quick like you so we can get all these missions done.” She looked up at him and smiled while tapping her foot against her opposite heel.
“I also need to work on learning more water Ninjutsu. Water Pressure Tigger seems pretty handy. I’ll eventually have to figure out how to work with some other elements to, but they’re just to tricky to figure out right now. Ah and sensory jutsu to, it’s always good to cover your tracks. I won’t lie though, learning things while being outside of the village is a little scary” She walked around him as she talked mimicking some of the hand she’d read about in books as she mentioned each jutsu. Her hands were still new to some of the order of signs. She stopped half way through realizing she got caught up in thought again and had almost completely circled him instead of heading towards the gate.
She stopped pacing and put her hand out to him, noticing his nails. “I’m glad to be outside though! And happy to have another genin to do missions with! Thanks for taking me on board.” She said bouncily, trying to shake off any nervousness.
“Do you have anything you’re focused on learning? I know we’re going to the Tanner first for leather, do you make a lot of things in the village?” As she said and then flinched slightly, wondering if she had rambled too much internally. Her curiosity with commerce got the best of her at times and she hoped she didn’t look to eager to talk about business when they were about to go on missions. Still, she tried to put up her best professional front and stiffened as she kept her hand out stretched. Did ninja’s even shake hands before missions? Is this to formal? She wondered.

Arantima had little to no issue following Itsumi and her rambling nature, as it mirrored his own internal speed and he smiled at her as he didnt turn with her, but he did turn his head so that he could follow her movements. When she mentioned speed he waved a hand to dismiss it lightly "No need to worry about being as quick as me.. I only just got used to waking up so early in the morning. And as for speed. He just watches her as he makes his hands fly through handseals at 120 speed which to itsumi would look like a blur of motion with nothing concrete to view. "I am a Weapon specialist.. Bukijutsu. I am a Wind User myself so I cant help with water style too much though I am working on it myself."
He smiled to her and when she reached out her hand he reached out to grab hers and give it a gentle shake with a smile, careful not to scratch her with his claw-like fingernails. "I've never heard of water pressure trigger before so maybe you can explain it to me while we are out on our jobs today? It certainly sounds interesting to say the least." He pulls a small book from his belt and flips through the pages before looking out towards the gate and nods in agreement with Itsumi before smiling at her question.
"I do.. I am currently working on getting a Ninja shop Up and running.. I'm working on getting supplies and stock and a building and there will be some basic food and tea you can eat as well, It'll be a small little spot for friends and word of mouth travelers. He chuckles and looks her over before looking puzzled and then shaking his head, adjusting his belts and weapons before pointing outward towards the gate and beyond. "We are going out to collect the Hide from the butcher, We will have to tan it ourselves but I have the tools to do that back at my home so we will collect the hide and move on to the next stop which is.. Business, we are tasked with finding people on the roads who might look like or be business people who dont seem to do much trade with Sunagakure.. We will fix that! I've brought an item of my own creation to demonstrate and we both carry a lot of Suna made things we can show off!"
He Starts to walk off towards the exit of the village proper with a gesture for Itsumi to follow him. He doesn't break off into a full sprint or anything like that, keeping it to a pace that while fast for itsumi is something she could keep up with if she tried to. It only took them a few hours to reach the butchers place where they were finishing bundling up the hide into easy to carry rolls that weighed a fair bit each but were no more than Half a meter long and 17 centimeters in diameter. Arantima walked up to the Butcher after reading his little book once more to find the description of the man. They conversed for a few moments and Arantima gestured to the Hides and bowed gently in thanks for them before Setting his Cloak on the ground and flattening it out, stacking the hide up next to it.
He looked over to Itsumi and smiled and gave her a gentle wave to come over "I'm not sure if you would find this one useful or not. but this is a Basic Sealing Jutsu its a storage system much like that one you were trying to learn using space time. But this one uses Fuinjutsu." His hands go through the Four seals very very slowly watching itsumi to make sure she is watching his hands, Dog > Snake > Ram > Ox. Then then slams his palm into his cloak and a seal forms on it as the hide All disappear in a soft dust devil.

Itsumi’s smile croaked up slightly as she felt the longer nails brush lightly against the back of her hand and kept her demeaner pleasant despite the odd feeling. Snapping out of that and the feeling of vertigo from trying to keep a bead on his hands she followed him out. She tried for a second think of something to make conversation but it was quickly lost as she fell into pace with him. By the time they arrive at the butchers she got out:
“….right…the butchers….hopefully this some of this hide will be a bit helpful to you with your work?” After a couple heavy breathes, she went after Tima helping bundle up the hide. She locked onto his hands signs and watched the hide disappear. “It seems very useful, I’m not sure if I could use both at the same time, but if I can it’ll double my carrying capacity when I start trying to lug around a food stall on my travels.” She hovered her hand near the seal, not close enough to touch it despite wanting to. “I’ll have to try it with a different couple of things. I’ll think on it while we check on a couple of the trade routes around the border.” She checked the rough map that accompanied the mission detail with a few well-known paths caravans and travelers alike were known to take. She got ready to almost race behind Tima, a bit happy that that she didn’t have to carry a ton of hide at least.
“Speaking of traveling isn’t that a few travelers over there?” She points to a small caravan with a few mercenaries that appeared to be guarding it. She gently put her hand behind, but not touching Tima’s back as she pointed and used it guide them onto a trail. “Do you think you can convince those mercenaries to check out your weapons? I’m sure they need to resupply to, it’d be the perfect chance to talk up the food here, and maybe tea to. Sunagakure is known for its poison, with its venomous animals and dangerous plants, so we’ve also got an idea of how to grow and brew some pretty good teas to. Maybe we don’t mention the poison bit... unless they seem particularly interested.” She winked. “You have that certain look in your eyes so I’ll lead first so we don’t look to scary.”
She paused looking him up and down, then pulled out a small red cord from her pocket. “I could tie up your hair like I’ve seen my mother do it all the time. It might look a bit silly, but you’d also look more approachable to.” She waited a moment for him decide, then slowly reached her hands behind his head and tied his hair into a small pony tail once he bent over. “There! If it’s to worrisome, you could take it out though.” She beamed, proud of her work.
Itsumi lead the approach as a family appeared to be packing up a morning’s sad breakfast and breaking down camp. She waved as she approached, and tried to seem welcoming as possible. It was clear once they could see her head band the three mercenaries and the traders stiffen slightly. Perhaps they were travelers from Kirigakure or just experienced troubles with travelers in the past she mused.
“Hello! I see you’re running low on rations. My name’s Itsumi and I’m a cook from Sunagakure. This is my friend Arantima, a craftsman.” She started to go into some of the restaurants and stores in the village as well how far away the next stop would be. Truly if they were already running low better to stop now then later. As she talked it became clear that the family were jewelers would use a mix of metal work and dried flowers in their wares. The flowers suffered on their travels and it just so happened that Itsumi knew a few a few poi-herbalists that had flowers that could be dried and replaced in a few works. The mercenaries’ weapons had also seen better days. They might have a good case to get them into Sunagakure.

Arantima smiled at her assessment of the Sealing jutsu as he swung his cape over his shoulder once more and settled it so that it almost completely hide his left arm. "There are many ways to store things, this one is just a bit more vulnerable than your space time storage.. this one could be broken by another fuinjutsu user and spill all of your stored stuff out without warning. But it can hold Rather large objects without much issue, 3 meters by 3 meters and twenty individual instances, likewise I could have a scroll with five of these seals per scroll." He shrugged as they waved goodbye to the butcher giving the man a tap of his Sword and a wink to them as they left.
When Itsumi mentioned travelers he followed her eye line and hand gesture towards the group and nodded to her as she spoke. "M poison isn't my specialty so much but I do know a fair bit about weapons.. And while I don't have one of my iron flutes ready for demonstration I can show off my Twin Demon lance!" He turns to her when she starts talking about his eyes and nods to her understanding the issue there and when she mentions his hair he smiles and kneels down a bit to give her a better position for her to be able to tie his hair back. When she is done with his hair he stands and makes the sign of the Dog and A gust of rustling sand around his feet kicks up before he opens his eyes and they are replaced by a Cool violet pair of eyes that seems much softer than his usual gaze.
Arantima watched the Travelers closely as they approached he watched them stiffen and did his best to not respond with anything threatening though he was clearly looking at their weapons. When Itsumi began speaking about food and plants and such he smiled and just stood there kind of taking on the appearance of her personal body guard for the time being. When he heard they were jewelers he smiled and took off his Twin demon lance that he had been wearing as a belt and Began to show then the quality of the wire that connected to the halves and then connected them to look like its original bladed staff form.
He commented that if they came into the village that they would be able to find many people willing to Take care of their arms for them and he even gave them a small wink saying he could even sell them a Twin demon lance if they were interested in his weapon. He Let Itsumi lead for the most part and kept his comments back a bit so that they weren't overwhelmed by the two excitable ninja. After a few moments when they were discussing coming to the village Arantima was off to the side just performing some basic weapon drills with his twin demon lance and made sure he was giving them plenty of room as he unpaired the twin swords and began to throw it around like a bladed Yo-yo drawing it back and firing it out again, just to show off its versatility.
When he was done, around the same time itsumi was done giving the travelers details about their Village Tima came back over and smiled "Sunagakure would welcome you readily and they are only a few hours away from here. If you stay for a few days I am sure you will find something exotic to take back home there are a lot of new things there since the village as rebuilt. We should be going but please have a stay at one of our inn's and tell them you were invited by Sand ninja you will be treated well."
He Looks to Itsumi and gestures with a head sway that they should be going on Towards the Mines. He walks them well out of earshot from the travelers and smiles over to itsumi "You are a rather good speaker when you are excited about something or at least it seems like it to me. I'd have started talking too fast for them to understand." He chuckled softly and as his eyes closed the rustle of wind occurred again and his eyes returned to that Blood red ferocity that he normally has.

Re: Sand Gremlins... I mean Genin on a mission! (I/O)

“I’ve had a lot of practice with that thanks to my family. I wish jutsu came as naturally as talking but everybody is good at something. Which reminds me if I knew you could do the eye thing, I wouldn’t have bothered you, you know.” She puffed out her cheeks slightly embarrassed and scratched the back of her head. “If you ever need practice talking, you’re welcome to stop by my place and talk with my parents and I. We pretty much view everyone in the village as extended family, just be ready to get a full-on hospitality lesson from them. Since they’re doing okay now, they might even be able to spare a few sand dumplings while you talk. They’ve been bugging me about joining in more missions with fellow genin for a while so they’d be happy to meet you, I’m sure.” She waited a moment and then said "If you want to bring any of your family or friends as well your welcome to of course, I can eat the cost of your first visit, in the very least."
She let him set the pace again eager to see what the mines were like. The energy she had from the caravan chat easily propelled her along. She was happy to sink into the cooler earth at the entrance of the mines and out of the searing sand. She glazed over the talk the miners gave them as the arrived more enjoying the shade then listening. The feeling of relief was quickly wiped away as the two descended into the depths of the mine. The stale air was not something she’d like to experience again and really hoped she’d never need steel for anything in her life. “So, we find this vein smash the rock and get to the forge fast right?” she coughed out hating the smell down here. She wanted to cover her face with a cloth but at the same time not make the experience stuffier than it already was. She’d heard stories from miners about that mining was profitable enough and tough. She now got why everyone talked about getting the work done and getting out. She wanted to stay up beat for the entire mission up but her mood was cracking bit by bit like the rocks the miners around them hammered on. “I’m really rather be baking outside” She muttered under her breathe, kicking a few rocks. Her tone caught her off guard and she tried to laugh it off, not wanting to seem like a kill joy on their last mission.
The hot orange metal the smiths talked about earlier didn’t sound so appealing either after being in the heat for so long. She wondered if they talked up the forbidden glowwy hot sauce out of heat stroke instead of beauty. It made her wonder why she ever complained about being stuck in the kitchens when she was younger. The liquid sun in the forge better look at least as bright as the lantern she carried if not she was going to make it her own personal mission to call out every single smith that talked it up over tea.
After a bit of time, they had made their way to a fresher deposit. The red shown true in the light, she never thought she’d be so happy to see a silly rock. She tapped the walls of the cavern, it seemed sturdy enough to her, not that she had any idea how tunnels work. “I’m not that strong but I’ve got a couple explosive tags we could use to blow the ore up. That’d make it really easy right? We just warn the miners around the area so everyone is safe.” As she talked, she pulled out the two tags and walked toward the rock trying to find a good place them. Hopefully the line would be enough for two good sheets of steel.

Arantima visibly stiffened when she mentioned family, but his face didn't turn strange or upset or anything like that but something about the subject stiffened him, but didnt seem to bother him. He smiled at her before starting to speak as they walked "That was just the basic transformation jutsu we learned in the Academy.. i cant keep it up all the time.. So Mentioning the eyes made me think of it. It was a good thing you did or I'd have probably scared some of them." He rubs the back of his head and looked around a bit before continuing "Uhh.. On the topic of family.. Mine is more of a found.. family.. And are very busy most of the time. But I might like visiting yours! And no need to pay for me. I've been saving quite a lot of money lately"
He followed Itsumi as they entered the Mine and Arantima just felt somewhat at home, he was a blacksmith and recognized all of the things here. The smells the sights and the scenery were all familiar to him from when he learned the trade here a few months ago. He Followed itsumi though as she seemed to be the one in the lead at the moment. He watched her Put a cloth over her face and let out a small chuckle before his new enhanced sense of smell made him cough slightly at the stale air before he got used to it once more. "Pretty much. we get the ore and then we trade it off to the Ore grader. Then we can go straight to the forge and pour our Ingots. Then we wait for it to cool which wont take very long at all. maybe a half hour for it to cool enough to be handled."
He followed her inward towards the ore veins and rubbed his hand across the red veins and then his eyes went wide when she mentioned the explosive tags and he put the wall between himself and her waving his hands in a cease and desist manner very frantically. "No noonononononono! Explosions in a tight space are bad! We'd have to clear the whole tunnel or we'd likely make more than a few people deaf. Theres a reason they sent a Bukijutsu user with you on this mission. He smiles and draws his Twin Demon Lance, not splitting the two halves. He sets the staff handle to nestle in his elbow joints as he made The Tiger and boar hand signs rapidly before he clapped his hands together and his weapon began to glow an opaque Golden hue.
He took the Staff in hand and with a series of alternating Slashes he cut an octagon around a large section of the vein and then jumped back, spun in place a full circle and when he was facing the wall once more his Entire Bladed staff was thrown at the octagon and on impact the octagon smashed into a few large pieces which fell to the floor leaving his bladed staff embedded in the wall, and no longer glowing. He retrieved his Staff and looked over at Itsumi with a soft smile "Besides.. Those are expensive after you graduate.. Save them for if you need them, never know when a good explosive tag will be needed."
He led Itsumi down the path after collecting the ore into his cloak and Gave the head sized pieces to the ore grader who was just looking at the ore almost incredulously and then he caught the sight of the pair's ninja bands and he made a face that said yeah yeah you and your fancy jutsus. Arantima seemed to take no mind to the face the grader made and took the slip he was given to the Ore processors where That delicious orange glowing Frosting would be filling a large vat over a roaring fire. if it was hot outside, in here felt like the center of the sun. The men who worked in here were tanned just from the light and heat of the forge and were all soaked in a thin sheen of sweat. The Orange goo flowed every so often into a small mold shaped like a tapered brick.
Arantima walked up to the forge-master and handed the man their slip and the forge-master laughed and gestured for Tima to pout the molds himself. Arantima just gave the man a gentle two fingered salute and set the molds up filled with damp sand, packed it down and pressed in the mold template swiftly, as if he knew what he was doing, which he did. He then slid the molds under the crucible and poured the molds, filling each one swiftly before taking the Molds over to itsumi so she could watch her ingot as it cooled.

Re: Sand Gremlins... I mean Genin on a mission! (I/O)

“I guess I feel like I barely passed everything becoming a genin so if I have anything useful, I use it while I can. If I think about it too much, I feel like I’ll lose the chance to be useful.” She mumbled under her breath as she watched those working around her. Following a bit behind Tima, since he seemed to know where they were going. She watched him pour the metal and felt the day slipping on and barely moving all at once. Even kitchens in the village had windows. The inside of the mines had nothing. Maybe people could work here for days and not realize it. As he set the metal in front of her, it snapped her out of her thoughts for a second. “Thanks.” She said slightly smiling into the small orange pool in front of her. She stuck her hands out near it, feeling the difference in heat. The entire forge was just levels of heatwaves coming from all angles but the ingots stuck out all the same with their own pocket of warmth.
“Sorry I’ve been a bit down. I’ve done some silly stuff and asked you some weird questions today to. I didn’t mean to put you in a weird spot with the family bit either. I’ll keep trying to get better at everything so I pull my own weight more next time.” She looked but at him as she spoke smile fading from her face. As she got the last words out, she looked back down into the metal. “I know you have your seals but I can at least carry these two bars back with us.” After they cooled, she packed them carefully against her back with an assortment of wrapping she stored away. Not thinking that they’d be smithing anything she walked with Tima out listening to noise in grow more distant as they walked.
As they left the forge the sun had just disappeared on the horizon. “Hmm could we run back through the night or set up camp.” She was already stretching as she talked, getting ready book it if needed, mid-stretch her stomach growled. “Ah maybe after a quick food break?” She got quieter as she finished the question looking between the mines and the open dessert. After a moment for searching, she pulled out a few wrapped and dried sausages from her pocket and offered Tima some, without thinking much of it. Whenever someone at home was hungry, they often past food around to everyone. The habit still stuck with her.
She always tried to bring things that reminded her of when she was little. The spices of the dried meat were the same as when her father had blended his first batch. She remembered the story he told her about how those exact spices were what helped him find her mother and build their little house into the small restaurant it was today. She used to play with containers of it like sand and get scolded for it. Now she was off trying to be a ninja when her own family thought it was too much danger for the money and just wanted her back home helping the business. As she finished her last piece, she felt her muscles relax and shook out some of her thoughts. She laughed out without thinking and said “It seems like ninja really just, see try to see how each other’s egos match each other and go with that. It’s tough or it seems to be you know? I just don’t want to step on anyone’s toes here, but I sure there’ll be a day I screw up big time. Talk too much, just be too much of a waste of time, or something I haven’t even thought of yet.” She paused for a moment realizing she was rambling on again.
“Ah I’m probably just not cut out for this, but let’s finish the mission yeah? You always know what you’re doing so I shouldn’t hold you up should I? Camping out sounds like a kid thing to do anyway.” She said avoiding looking at him. Her voice went the motions of being cheery but she didn’t trust rest of herself to be. She smacked her face and tried to listen for his footsteps to figure out where they were going next.

Arantima listened to her talk and nodded along with her nodding with a sad expression on his face "You are not wrong there.. Lots of ninja don't seem to actually care about being friends. But I do! And yeah, stepping on toes.. Seems like an inevitability for anyone trying to put themselves out there. I can understand that fear very very well. But I can tell you I don't think you are a waste of time at all. You are friendly and Sweet and very polite." He takes a bite of the sausage he was offered and melts into the flavor as he looks around the outside of the mines and at the setting sun on the horizon. He looks back over to Itsumi and his eyes soften, no transformation jutsu needed for that as he felt for her.
He started speaking as he took his Bladed staff and separated the ends, "I don't think camping out in the desert is a childish Idea at all. It sounds quite cozy and fun." Sticking one end into the ground and the the other a few feet away, Draping his cloak over the wire that joined the two halves and then using kunai to Spread the cloaks edges out so that it made a very makeshift tent roof that would let air flow nicely out from under it but would keep heat in. He smiled over to her "I might seem like I know what to do all the time.. but that is only because I have been panicking about it in my head for hours before I actually make a choice.. Hemming and hawing over things, And wondering what the outcomes could be.. And Lord Jashin send an angel of death for me now if when something doesn't go how I thought... That I don't break down and freak out over it because I hadn't planned on being wrong.. Now come on.. We can walk all of that back in the morning, and thank you for taking those bars by the way." He settles down under his makeshift pup tent and waves Itsumi over to join him if she wanted.
He didnt seem to have much in the way of true camping gear but it was the desert, and they had plenty of cloud cover for the night so it would not get too cold and He seemed pretty content to just hang out with his new friend no matter what she decided to do with herself after that. "And hey.. Itsumi.. Thank you for being such a good friend. I think you can do it, but no matter what you choose to do I believe you can handle it, and I'll never forget you. He looked over at her, whether she was sitting with him or not. He was just smiling broadly at her and his eyes were sincere and soft filled with joy, instead of those colder hard eyes he normally had, he was just happy she came with him today.
