Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter] Empty Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter]

The Mission:

Stats:

Kita ran through the streets of Kirigakure, lightly pushing aside any passerby who happened to get in his way as he followed the bloody footprints of his quarry. A frown stretched across his face as he tried desperately to keep up with the tracks that seemed to thin the farther the perpetrator got from the scene of the crime. It wasn't a pretty sight. Kita's mind flashed back to the scene he had just borne witness to, the frenzied bartender explaining how a shinobi promptly killed a patron. The boy listened only partially as the man listed off the scene that had played out, instead focusing on the body located behind the man. He remembered seeing the blood trail leading outside the tavern before running in to assess the situation. Inside was a man, stabbed under the chin with a broken bottle. It was disgusting. Not in the blood or gore, as Kita had seen, and even created a few corpses by now. No, it was the morality of it. To senselessly kill in such a way. Yet... what was scariest of all was that Kita couldn't find it in him to react as he should. The anger, the fear, the sadness that he should feel was devoid from him. All that was left was a small hollowness, and pity for the fallen victim.

Kita's mind flashed back the day before. The trip back from Hoshigakure was utterly exhausting. It had utterly broken the boy down into a puddle of tears as his mind finally let him process the cold and lonely months that he had spent in Hoshigakure's dungeon. He'd spent two days in the Rentei mansion just recovering mentally from the strain and fatigue that he'd been under. He'd expected to feel better after a hot bath and meal, after time with friends, and yet he still felt empty. Truth be told, he didn't want to return to his work, not for a while, but he felt he needed to. Drive and distraction was better than nothingness.

Kita's mind flashed back to the current moment. He was fully adorned in his white kimono, and his katana at his left hip, weapon pouch on his right. Clinging to his left shoulder was Bobo, the boy's monkey animal companion. Both of him were reaching the end of the blood trail. Seems as though the murderer stepped in a pool of the victim's blood on the way out. Yet the trail was running cold as the criminal's feet began to dry, and it would be significantly harder to find the criminal if Kita couldn't find where the trail lead. Bobo spoke from the boy's shoulder.

"Any sign of them?"

Kita shook his head, desperately searching for a sign of some figure leaving bloody footprints behind.

"Not yet."

The trail lead into a nearby alleyway, which Kita quickly ducked into. It was getting thin. So thin that it ran cold by the time he reached the other end. As Kita barreled out the other side, he stood 10 meters outside the alley exit. There, he stood before a mostly empty marketplace nestled in between surrounding buildings. The entire area was roughly 100 meters in width, and 200 meters in length from one end to the other. Kita stood 25 meters to the right of the width's center point, where four rows of multicolored, 5 meter thick stalls with assorted wares stretched 150 meters long and 25 meters from the bottom of buildings sat in the middle, 20 meters apart from one another.

Kita's eyes scanned the thin crowd of people moving lazily through the market. It was still relatively early in the day, Kita placing it no more than 10 to 11 in the morning, so there weren't too many people out. That was good. If there were any civilian casualties, Kita could keep it to a minimum. A light gray mist hung over the marketplace, though it was thin enough to where you could almost see from one side to the other, roughly 150 meters across. Kita just prayed that he would be able to find the murderer before he escaped...

Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter] Empty Re: Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter]

NPC Stats:

Oja was fleeing at the moment, as a simply slip of the mind caused her to murder someone, although she was not quite repentant or anything, she would do it again in a heart beat. How unlucky that another member of Kiri happened to be there and was able to chase her before she could slip away. She had almost given him the slip when she ran down a series of alleys, but he could hear him a little ways back following her. She managed to get out of the alley way and then looked around, seeing that she was in a market place. there were very few people here, but that actually worked to her advantage. She was trying to kill this person chasing her before running away if possible, as she had a way to get out of the village if she could actually get to the gate without people right on her heels. She quickly stepped to the right when she got out of the alley, before Kita managed to see where she was, before she formed hand seals, and noticing that everyone around her were not looking towards her, she summoned a shadow clone. She herself looked across the way and saw the back of an old man, and quickly used the transformation technique to turn into him, but she obviously had a different face, and a mustache. The shirt was also different from the front, but this actually helped her disguise and did not hinder it. She them immediately used her skill to suppress her chakra, making it zero and preventing anyone from learning that she was a ninja, even if they had special eyes or abilities.

The shadow clone that still looked like her kept running across the field towards another alley way, but as the clone got around 15m away from the alley she was just in, the man Kita had gotten close enough to see her and most like leave the alley. Luckily the real Oja had stepped off to the side before doing all her actions, or Kita might have been able to see her from down the alley way, despite the fog. Kita would now be out of the alley, and the clone would turn to face him and sigh. "Ugh, fine, you caught me, you're too fast. I guess I surrender." The clone would say with a defeated face as the clone put both of her hands up above her head and looked towards the man that had chased her here. The real Oja was off to the side when this happened, and simply followed a small group of people who had turned around and started looking at the clone when it said that it would surrender. Now there were two small groups who had turned and looked towards the slight commotion, the one to Kita's right being about 4m away from the entrance of the alley, and the one on his left, this one being the one where the real Oja was blending in, was 5m away from the alley entrance. The real Oja had her right hand on her chin, and her left hand was down at her side, ready to form a single hand seal, this was hidden by her being behind the crowd that was facing Kita and the clone.

Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter] Empty Re: Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter]

Thu Jul 29, 2021 1:30 am
Kita felt incredibly stupid for a moment. The fact that he hadn't been able to see the killer a mere 5 meters in front of himself was more than a little embarrassing. Still, at least they had found the criminal. Or... had they? Maybe Kita was just paranoid after his trip to Hoshigakure, but something just didn't feel right. They'd apprehended her too quickly, too easily. She was clearly violent based off her altercation at the bar, so why would she give herself up like that?

"Bobo, take some ninja wire from my pouch and apprehend her. If she tries to resist, use appropriate force."

Bobo nodded and began following his masters instructions, eyeing the criminal for any sign of resistance. As he hopped off of the boys back with a 5 meter spool of ninja wire and began to approach the figure, Kita turned around to address the crowds that seemed to be forming. He didn't want them to be there to witness the scene. Deciding it was better safe than sorry, Kita made the choice to focus hard, expanding his range of chakra sensory to 10 meters in radius. After all, the criminal behind him was likely opportunistic. If she thought she could take Bobo, she would come for Kita next.

"Please, stay calm. There's nothing to see here, move along."

Two groups it seemed. One group to his left composed of six individuals, about 5 meters away from him and 4 meters to the left of the alley entrance, and one to his right composed of four individuals, also 5 meters away and 5 meters to the right of the alley entrance. Everyone seemed packed together in both groups, and nobody seemed to be more than one to two meters apart from the rest of the cluster as they tried to sneak a peek at the arrest. Nothing out of the ordinary, and certainly nothing worthy of concern. Kita was about to turn back around and assist Bobo when a realization struck him like lightning. There were 6 total chakra signatures to his left, yet only 3 on his right. That didn't match up with the 10 people present on the scene. Everyone had a chakra signature of some kind, and there was only a small handful of ways in which a chakra signature could be lacking from an individual. All of them reek of dirty tricks played by other shinobi. Kita's eyes snapped towards the group of four and began eyeing them down. His knowledge of sensory techniques was limited, incredibly so. He'd need a minute to determine which of them was devoid of chakra, and whether that meant they posed any threat...

Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter] Empty Re: Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter]

Thu Jul 29, 2021 2:56 am
Oja was waiting for her plant to be put in action, and soon there was the perfect opportunity to do so. The man had some sort of trained monkey with him, and he told the monkey to tie the clone up. The clone would stand there and not resist as the monkey came over towards her with the wire to tie her up. At this point, Oja was just about to strike, and it seemed that the universe was unkind to this young man, as the timing was right after the man had chosen to extend his sensory range, which would lock him out of using any techniques. As soon as he started concentrating and the monkey was close, the clone would form a single hand seal with her right hand and immediately plummet him and his monkey downwards with the mobile earth core technique. His monkey had gotten about 2m from him before the earth core suddenly went down, and since the man was using the expanded sensory range, he could only unitile his own body to stop himself from plummeting with his monkey. This would not hurt them, but go down into the depths of the earth for 20m. The square that went down was 7m by 7m, centered on the man.

The clone would then watch his movement, waiting until the man made a big movement or jumped, in which case the clone would immediately use earth flow spears targeting where he was going in the air, most likely skewering him. The real Oja would act as soon as the earth core started to go down, weaving hand seals and walking 1m ahead of the crowd, before slamming her palm on the ground, sending a chakra wave into the ground, which would break up the ground in front of her, rapidly spreading towards the man and the hole, covering the entire hole and even spreading downwards with it, crushing the entirety even if the earth core got all the way down.

Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter] Empty Re: Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter]

Fri Jul 30, 2021 2:05 am
Second mistake of the fight, and by this point Kita was getting angry. He was foolish to drop his guard like that when an enemy was nearby, and now he'd need to cover for his own sorry mistakes.

Bobo acted the instant that the clone started forming their hand seal, freezing in place 3 meters from his opponent. Fast as it was, Bobo was quicker, and the young monkey opened his mouth and instantly launched his Cool The Soup Down technique at the opponent. Of course it wouldn't be fast enough to stop the jutsu from going off, but it was fast enough to place an expanding cone of wind en route towards his opponent's location a mere 3 meters away. Dangerous indeed if it hit, as it would deal a great deal of damage and send it flying backwards as well. Though his work was not done, with one hand gripping an end of the spool, the young monkey tossed the other end back towards Kita just as his own jutsu launched.

Kita himself was quick on his feet as well. With rapid movements of hand and body, Kita sprang into action as the earth began to sink. Firstly, he dropped his extended sensory range. Simultaneously he dodged to the left wall. With his right hand he grabbed hold of the spool that had reached his location, gripping it tightly. With such a small range of roughly 3.5 meters from the center, and Kita able to travel 4 meters in the time it took the earth to drop 3 meters, it wasn't particularly far to travel. With a couple hefty steps and a reach for the top, Kita reached his ledge by a hair, with Kita needing to jump a meter to reach. Kita took care to grip hold and pull himself up to his feet just as the figure emerged from the crowd to unleash their technique.

Of course, they weren't out of the woods yet. With Kita having leaped, the figure would then launch the earth flow spears the moment his feet left the ground. With no ability to spawn it within 3 meters of Kita or Bobo, the figure had no choice but to spawn it from the wall opposite to Kita close to the back right corner from where the clone was standing and aimed at the location of his jump. Yet Kita was faster still, being able to move over 9 meters in the time it took them to travel the 7 needed to cross from one end of the wall to the other, and he pulled himself up to his feet by a hair as the shards of earth slammed into the wall that he'd been a few moments before.

The moment he got to his feet Kita backpedal away from his encroaching earthquake technique unleashed just as Kita stood up. Bobo would of course be dragged by the wire held by his faster counterpart, regardless of whether or not he managed to strike the enemy clone with his technique, and he would cease his technique the moment it became clear he didn't hit his opponent, he sank too low in the ground to strike the clone, or he was starting to get dragged by his master. With not enough space by running straight backwards, Kita would run in a diagonal line 25 meters to the back wall and to the right in order to avoid the earth shaker. He would continue on the route until he either needed to change course due to a threat or obstacle, he reached the end of his line, or his jutsu came back. In the last event, he would alter his plan however he saw fit.

Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter] Empty Re: Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter]

Sat Jul 31, 2021 1:21 am
Oja watched as the man would suddenly start running towards the wall, with the obvious intention to try to climb out before the tearing earth palm got to him. The little monkey started to spray out some high pressure air towards the clone that was a bit faster than the clone, while also throwing the spool of wire towards his master. The spool of wire was quite slow in the air, which caused the man to have to wait a little bit for the wire to actually reach him, and in this time, the earth core went further down than he had anticipated, before abruptly stopping. It stopped at around 4m down, and since the moving earth core did not affect the flight pattern of things thrown, the wire which was originally targeted towards the man was now more than a meter off target, meaning the man could not grab it as he jumped up the side of the wall. The clone would have been defeated, poofed out of existence by the cool down the soup technique, meaning the earth flow spears simply would not come out.

Sadly, because of the speed of the tearing earth palm and the fact that the monkey did not move and was not moved because of the missed toss of the wire, his legs were then caught by the tearing earth turning palm and crushed, causing clean breaks and major blood loss to the little monkey. Oja assumed that the man would be really pissed off right now, but he had successfully gotten out of the pit without getting hurt, as he was a bit faster than the turning palm, and so Oja decided to turn tail and run. She simply ran in the opposite direction, getting some hand seals ready just in case the man caught up to her in close range. She did not have many other options at this point, and she hoped that the man did not attack her with a more powerful jutsu.
----------------------
OOC: Claiming a hit on Bobo, as he didn't move from his spot other than you pulling him with the wire, but because of his slow throwing speed (50 in this case), for his projectile to get the 2m to your character, the earth core would have gone down 4m in this time. Since the clone died, no spears came out, and since bobo did not actually move, he got crushed, so he takes 130 damage and is stuck in the hole

Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter] Empty Re: Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter]

Kita cursed. Even as far away as he was, he could hear the pained cries of Bobo as his legs were snapped in response to his own miscalculation.

"I'm coming Bobo! Just hang on!"

Kita's jutsu came back to him in a flash once he'd travelled 10 meters back from the hole. He was faster than the earth palm by a decent margin, and he was able to maneuver himself the necessary 8.5 meters to the right by moving in his diagonal line to avoid the earthquake in that time. Yet what he saw next caused him great anger. Off in the distance, he could see his target beginning to turn tail and run. Kita gritted his teeth. She attacked him and his monkey, and now she runs like a coward. Kita quickly sized up the distance between them. They were 5 meters away from one another originally, but then she got a meter closer to his hole. Then he escaped the hole and ran back 10 meters. She got a bit of a head start on the boy as well, leaving them 20 meters apart. No time to lose then.

He began to run after the figure, taking care to avoid the dangerous terrain as he weaved the necessary hand seals for a jutsu. He was pulling out all the stops this time, and he didn't want to take ANY more risks with this individual. His hand signs completed, he activated his Hiding With Camouflage ability. Not good enough though, the boy activated his Silent Killing ability. Even through his tremendous anger at the moment, he smirked. He'd have to thank Murata for instructing him on the basics on concealment. Anyone short of a fellow shinobi would find him practically invisible.

Kita ran the figure down, taking care not to leave them even a single moment of reprieve. He had to take advantage of their moment of weakness after utilizing their techniques. They weren't particularly fast, and Kita had a significant advantage over them in that department. For every meter they covered, Kita covered more than two, and she was running directly backwards. Not a hard path for Kita to follow. Kita looked up as well to size up the path she was covering, and grinned wildly in a sadistic glee. No exits in that direction, and no large crowds as well. If he played his cards right, he could end her life here and now.

Kita drew his katana by the time he had travelled 5 meters forward. By the time that the figure had travelled 10 meters, Kita would be able to travel 20, closing the gap between them to a mere 10 meters while avoiding her dangerous earth palm's field of effect. He felt bad about leaving Bobo behind, but he couldn't pass up the opportunity. If there was nothing in between those two moments that would cause Kita to alter his course of action, then when the two figures were 12 meters apart he would activate his new Curse Mark Transformation, allowing Akabayashi's twisted senjutsu chakra to flood his body, and boost his vitality and speed. Then he would begin weaving two sets of hand seals for both a Ninjutsu Amplifier and a Rupture. When he got to the 10 meter mark, he would swing his blade, letting loose four mighty waves of wind release chakra, setting the figure as their homing target. Now all that was left was to see if Kita's plan panned out.

Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter] Empty Re: Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter]

Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:46 am
OOC: Congrats! NPC dead. There were a couple things I could have done, but it would just be prolonging the inevitable, good job. Sad for monke legs.

Oja was running wildly for her life, as she was not able to get the damned shinobi locked in the tearing earth palm. She had seen that she had got the monkey trapped, which was some sort of solace, but that did not do anything for her when this crazy person was now suddenly after her. She was simply running away, and she turned back slightly so that she could see where he went, but unluckily for her, she could not see or hear him anymore. This gave her some anxiety, and so she was constantly looking back and forth to various alleys that were dotted around, trying to see where he would come from, as he was quite a bit faster than her, she had seen this already.

As she turned back and continued to run, she suddenly fell forward into pieces, her life quietly ending there on the spot. She had no time to think or even fear, as she fell into pieces as the wind blades all combined on her center mass, turning her into large chunks.

Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter] Empty Re: Violence Is Sometimes The Answer [Hunter]

Thu Aug 05, 2021 5:13 am
With that, it was over. Kita dismissed his jutsu, allowing his curse mark and camouflage to fade away. Kita walked over to the vivisected body of the rogue shinobi with an almost dead look in his eyes. The anger that had flooded his mind a few moments earlier was gone. Yet while he'd expected to feel some form of joy or relief at his opponent's death, some righteous glee for hurting his companion, he felt nothing of the sort. He'd taken a life once again, and yet the same shock and horror that he'd experienced in the past was absent from his mind. He scoffed at the body lying on the ground.

"Some fight you were."

Kita turned around to face the stampeding and terrified crowd, half of whom were fleeing the scene, and brushed past them towards the hold where his companion was lying in pain below, having just pried his bloody and mangled legs from the earth. Kita winced. The injuries he sustained seemed incredibly painful, and it would take time for his clearly shattered legs to heal, even with medical intervention. As his monkey howled in pain, Kita jumped down into the hole to collect his friend. He had to wonder, if he hadn't gone after the enemy, if he hadn't dropped his guard, if he'd caught the wire, would he still be in this agony? He simply didn't know.

"It's okay Bobo, I'm here. We'll take you to a hospital, okay? It's going to be alright."

Bobo moaned, tears streaming down his face. With a tiny hand he gripped the hem of his pants.

"Kid? It hurts kid, it hurts bad..."

Kita winced, and his chest tightened a bit. Even through his own inner turmoil, he felt grief for his friend. Bobo didn't deserve this.

"It'll be alright Bobo. Come on, I'm going to pick you up, okay? After that, we're getting you medical treatment."

Kita's fingers twisted into a number of hand seals as he created two shadow clones by his sides. One of them weaved an additional seal before transforming into a stretcher. Kita and his clone loaded the young monkey onto the stretcher before leaping out of the hole in a breakneck for the hospital. The journey there felt like it took forever, though Kita wondered just how long it actually was. At the end of that arduous journey, Kita erupted through the doorways with monkey in tow to the fury of the hospital receptionist.

"Excuse me! Please do-"

"My partner just broke his legs, and he needs medical care at once!" Kita blurted out. Normally he would show a bit more care on what the irritated woman might have to say, though at the moment he couldn't care less. "Where's the doctor?"

The woman scoffed. "This is a human hospital. We don't accept animals."

"You accept shinobi, don't you?! Then move your ass and call the doctor!"

She scowled, yet reluctantly wandered off to fetch the doctor. Kita looked around the small waiting room surrounding him. Surprisingly, it was empty at the time. Fluorescent white lights hung from the ceiling above, casting a sterile and unnatural glow over black and white tiled floors, adorned on either side of a small cube with wooden chairs to wait in. Kita shuddered. He never was a fan of the doctor's office. It always seemed too prestine, too cleanly for his taste. Not as though he had a choice now however, not if he wanted Bobo to turn out alright. Within a few moments, the clack of shoes against the tiles came echoing from within a nearby door as a doctor came from within to examine the patient in Kita's arms. Yet as Kita was about to explain the situation, the doctor simply plucked the young monkey from his stretcher and carried him off. Kita had no choice but to watch him go. He wasn't sure what, but something told him that it wasn't his place to go along, as much as he might want to. A pit opened in the boy's gut, as he began to miss the companionship of his monkey friend already.

"Good luck Bobo. I hope things turn out alright for you."
