Miki sighed, the missions never seemed to stop with the festival upcoming; she was excited with partaking in it; but since arriving to Moon Country she hadn’t seem to catch a break. She couldn’t complain much, as she was making fairly decent money. The woman stretched as she raised out of the small bed; rubbing her eyes as she began to prepare for her day; as per usual; she would wear an elegant kimono, lined with fine details, beautiful silk; and fine gems adorning her hair and face, she prepared herself with great focus; finally the small tapping from the door; she knew it was time for her to begin her day. She had been offered more ‘proper’ clothing, but she graciously declined the offer, choosing to stay with the outfit she brought with her. After she had become accustom to the cold; it barely bothered her anymore.
She made her way through the building; down the stairs and out the door, she had been directed to accompany several others to prepare building and prepping games and other fun entertainment for the festival. Miki enjoyed the idea of helping prepare the smaller more finer detailed thing; she knew really nothing about building or anything of the such. As she made her way down and over to the village square; she was greeted by the others tasked with set up, she offered to help with the designing of signs and the like; making quick work of her job; before she would finish another announcement was made; shocking most of the people who were helping with the building of the stalls and games, that they would also need to maintain these stalls as well.
“So much for being able to have fun.” She sighed, speaking to the woman beside her, glancing towards her.

Re: Do you hear those sleigh bells ringing?
Tue Dec 14, 2021 12:22 am
It was.... A day. That's one way to put it. Saya woke in the hotel room shared with her sister to find it empty, save for her various items and her puppet companions. Thankfully Ai had the thought to leave her the coach puppet. She didn't know yet that she would need it, but It would be imperative. she took her time preparing the garb chosen for her day in the strange candy village. heavy leathers slid snuggly under the virbant red woven chest piece that marked her armor. It wasn't "real" armor, but her puppets also weren't 'real' people, and Saya would have no discussion on the reality of her existence. It was frivolous and unfun.
Stepping out into the cold air she found need to pull the thin cloak up to her neck to fight back the biting breeze. Then she had a second thought. Hand seals flashed. A flash of crimson spread across her palm, and in a puff of smoke her summon ragnar....Was nowhere to be found. Whot. In his place, she found the female summon shed called once before, largetha she thought was her name? This was fine. She could just do it again. Another set of summon seals and the two otters joined the now rather large troup for the moment, though She had plans that directly involved her old furry friends.
The trip to the festival area was quickened by her own focus on other tasks. She allowed the seals for her cloak of the old gods to form as she walked, and the two otters disappreared, melding into her body. A heavy fur lined cloak of otter fur flowed down her back, the skulls set tightly on her shoulders the moment the technique finished, and she confirmed immediately that it was quite warm. Yay for multi use techniques. This is the form she'd show herself to her new teammates in. Her blonde hair was pulled back into tight braids with carved runestones spread across the woven strands. Small animal bones danced about her scalp as she took in the area, and then realization dawned. This was going to be work!
With three puppets the setup was a breeze. She basically focused on creating a large stage in the center of town(which was very much not asked for) while the puppets helped Miki build stall, set up equipment, and just generally do all the unfun things she had no interest in.
"I dunno. I heard once that with every task that must be done, there is an element of fun. If you FIND the fun... THen the task is a game." Her grin pierced the minutia of the working masses instantly. It wasn't time for one of her famous musical interludes 'yet' but It was only a matter of time before the stage was fully finished.....
"Sayatria Senju. Puppet Princess of the village hidden in the mist. I dont think i've caught your name yet?" Even while she hammered nails and set planks in place, she wanted to try and get a bit of interaction with this new girl. Thats what she was here for right?!

Re: Do you hear those sleigh bells ringing?

Having completed his tapestry and tactile work the day before Asahi had allowed himself a well deserved and needed sleep in. Getting up at the crack of late morning, he would stretch and dress. The cold had at first been a nuisance, but the constant application of warm coco had kept his blood warm, if not his waist line threatening to get thicker. Still, sacrifices must be made in the name of holiday cheer he supposed. Dressing quickly, he would wear soft wool undergarments that would keep his core warm. Overtop of these he draped himself in a brilliant kimono with rich teals and lavender outlines. a sash of pure periwinkle hugged his waste, hiding the results of to much coco and cookies, that he must remind himself to work off at his earliest convenience.......maybe the first of the year. Finally, he snatched a swooping hat that held its own teal feather in it and placed it on his head. He wore his blonde hair loose, something the winter wind never failed to play with as he made his walk from his room out into the festival proper. A light snow had fallen on the ground, its soft crunching beneath wooden clogs had a satisfying feel to it, at least when compared to the squelch that often occurred in the rice paddy fields of back....home. The word felt odd, even in his mind, bust still......he supposed that was the way the cookie was crumbling.
As he tracked past many of the booths, admiring his own handiwork, his mind was mostly centered on Yoi. Many of the folks here seemed unbothered by the odd situation they found themselves in. Individuals from all over where here, playing....well playing nice. Having grown up in the Yagami clan of samurai ninja politics was not one he encountered first hand. However he had always been led to believe they were blood thirsty fellows who reveled in war and intrigue. Yet here, he saw none of that, and instead mere merriment abound. Yoi's powers seemed to transcend that of space and time, and when he thought about it to hard, he could feel his mind go fuzzy and the urge to drink the delicious eggnog that resided in this place. A side effect he assumed of the hold that was around the place. Still....Bernard the head Elf had promised him a meeting with Yoi, upon his true assistance with the festival. So.....yoilo it was. Laughing, but not getting his own joke as though a future sense of humor had invaded his mind, he made his way to a stage that had been erected this very morning.
He arrived at the same time as one of the girls was asking another their name. He would wait to allow he to answer first, and assuming she did, he would interject his own, "And it is I, Asahi Yagami..." Sweeping his swooping hat from his head he would bow. His features, and attire however gave him a very feminine gaze, aided by Asahi's natural twinkling voice. "Do either of you know where Berna....." he was cut off by a voice full of coal.
"Yer Threee, tu tha dunkin booth aye!" The gruff looking elf shouted. Asahi stared at him, the elf was so rugged he could practically be a dwarf. Another shout and a point behind the yuletide funsucker showed a large....dunking booth. It had three stations, one for operating the till, one for handing out the snowballs and explaining the rules, and one for the.....dunking.....Momentarily stunned, it was unlikely that Asahi would geet first dibs on which of the three he would be able to acquiesce.

Miki would smirk; ‘Puppet Princess of the Village Hidden in The Mist’; this woman deemed herself royalty; alongside being apart of the village that subjected her own for a long time… Her eyes flashed with anger for a moment, before collecting herself once more, “I am Lady Miki Satow; Leader of the Satow Clan of the Village Hidden in the Leaves, formerly a Clan of the Village Hidden in the Mist.” She smirked, pressing her lips tightly together; it had been a very long time since her clan last stepped foot in Kirigakure; but she did in fact have ties to the village none the less. She found the puppets that the other woman used intriguing to say the least; they were quite handy.
As she finished speaking, a very… Flamboyant man would interject; introducing himself to the two women; his attire as flamboyant as her own. His name was ‘Asahi Yagami’; Miki would make note of this information; as she figured that she would be spending quite some time with these two for the next who knows how many hours they would be stuck together; as the head elf in charge of keeping everyone on task announced that they would be working the dunking booth; Miki couldn’t help but shiver mentally as she thought about being dunked into the water. “I run my own brothel, I shall manage the till. I am quite good with money.” She would interject, although it was a lie; it was some what true at the same time; she did in fact run the brothel basically, even though she wasn’t the owner of it. Before anyone else could possibly claim a station, as she stood up, “Well, shall we go and check out our station for the time being, Puppet Princess Sayatria, Asahi?” She grinned towards them; heading off in the direction of the large dunking booth; she was quite excited to see how this booth would become popular depending on who ended up in the dunking tank.
Part of her hoped that it would be Asahi; as she figured; by the way he started speaking to the two women; he would very much dislike it. She couldn’t help herself, giggling mentally to herself as she reached the till; the elf that originally spoke to the trio came over, speaking to her about how much money was in the till; and their projected numbers this year, as well as making sure that she and the others would call people over, brining their attention; requesting whoever ended up in the dunk tank try and annoy and egg people on to attempt to dunk them. Of course he explained that the game wasn’t rigged; and that no matter what when the center of the bulls eye was hit; whoever was in that tank would go down. There would be no avoiding it; what so ever. Miki would nod, and ensure this information would be carried on if the other two hadn’t already made it to the station to hear the elf speak.

Re: Do you hear those sleigh bells ringing?

"Oh neat!!! She's originally from the mist too! You're like me but in reverse. At first, I wasn't in the village and then--" Moments before the inevitable word vomit of her entire story, Ai gave her THAT look. She paused, though only for a second, considering her words carefully before continuing. "And then I joined the mist! Well. I guess you personally may not have left Kiri, but your clan did? How does that work exactly? What happened? I'm so interested in your story!" Saya was always like that. Bubbly and far too interested in the world around her. Her natural charisma was a beacon that drew many in, and her attentiveness and eidetic memory ensured anything she learned was kept forever.
It was freyja who first turned to glance at the flamboyant man who entered the scene. Naturally she couldn't ACTUALLY see him, and her glance was based on Saya catching a glimpse of him previously, but still her eyes studied the man for a few moments as he joined in to help out. Despite the wonderous nature of the village, It was the freyja puppets' responsibility to keep the senju girl safe. Even as she held the position directly behind her controller, her eyes glanced about opposite the natural shift of Saya's, The split in her consciousness allowing her to take in information even as she interacted in what would seem like a conversation that held all of her attention.
"Wh. What's a brothel? I dunno if we have those in Kiri?" The question was genuine. Impressively none of the "adults" of the puppet troupe had encountered the situation enough to be able to shield her from the inevitable answer, and so they each shrugged in unison as saya's question was interupted by the man in charge of the whole affair. What came next was a scene that could only be possible with the puppet princess. It was Ai who nodded at both the request for three of them to head to the dunking booth and Miki's emphasis. The small puppetmaster stood confused, waiting for further clarification from the man who'd barked the orders, prompting Freyja to head over to check out the situation.
"I don't know a bera. Sorry! nice to meet you too though Asahi!" As freyja discussed the fact that there were actually five of them there, double checking to see if they should all be at the dunking booth or if two of the puppet troup should break off to go somewhere else, Saya stood in the center of a line of her own team, with the coach puppet at her left side holding up one of his trademarked signs reading 'I don't think he realizes that Ai and Freyja are people...."
Once everything was figured out, and after a bit of "discussion" on the humanity of puppets, The whole troup joined in with the dunking booth fun. Thankfully there were conveniently placed food stalls on each side, allowing two of the puppets to give additional aid.

Re: Do you hear those sleigh bells ringing?

YOUR Initial impressions are a delicate thing. A thing that even if it is but a singular instance in a cacophony of interactions to come…..we’ll they matter. Initial reactions of the group he was paired with……was total confusion. His mind hardly knew where to start. In a life where he usually found himself to be the most interesting and flamboyant of personalities on the table, he found for the first time playing second or even possibly third chair. The thought brought a smile to his lips, but a frown to his heart. The most comforting thought being, what would Yasahiro say if he was involved in this level of holiday hijinks.
The oddest of the bunch was a chatty kuniochi who had strange automatons surrounding her. He knew they couldn’t be sentient, yet the girl moved them as if they were. It led to two possible conclusions, either she was completely mad, or she had a flair for showmanship. Both respectable, so he decided to play along best he could. The other individual in their group exclaimed they ran a brothel. Looking her up and down he couldn’t imagine she was very old, possibly still in her teens. He was well aware children of this world were thrust into the throws of adulthood at an early age, but still the occupation seemed strange for one so young. It was these lines of thinking however, that led to the worst outcome due to his mental gymnastics of putting it all together.
Before he knew it. The Konoha nin had the till, the puppet girl was running signs, and getting street walkers interested, the puppets had taken up other jobs which made no sense…….and he was sitting on a damp piece of wood above a large tank of water. “Ummmmm it’s warm right?” He’d ask Bernard a little hesitantly, his feet dangling though unable to touch the water beneath.
“‘Yer wurm as a vinters noon”. Bernard would say gruffly while checking his list and then seemingly checking it twice. With that he was off.
As for Asahi, he was attempting to psych himself up. This was not ideal, but if it meant the one on one with Yoi it was best to do a good job.
He had changed, and was now in a one piece striped bathing suit. Reds and whites made him look like a candy cane as he rest still kicking his legs, palms on the wood with fingers holding the plank.
“So ummmm, ready….” He’d shout to Mikki letting her know to go ahead and open the stall. What came next was a surprisingly accurate couple hours of individuals hurling snowballs at the target. Sure the water had probably started out warm, but after the 15th fall not so much. The montage of events incisions all sorts of comedic relief as though they were all part of a festival filler arc of a manga. It involved a dozen drummers going by, 11 people playing pipes, a frog leaping contest with 10 frogs hopping by, 9 lasses dancing, a milking demonstration by 8 maids, 7 large white birds swimming through the air, 6 geese presented for laying the biggest eggs, a man shouting about loosing all the rings for every finger of his left hand, the booth across from them received a call about 4 missing birds, lunch break, each of the 3 for a French hen to eat, the meal included two chocolates shaped like an amalgamation of a turtle and a dove, and finally on stage someone had a partridge steal a pear from a tree as part of their act……honestly the whole thing was exhausting.
Sitting on the counter, wrapped in a fluffy green towel Asahi was attempting to talk to one of the puppets about the weather in an effort to see if it was alive or not while Mikki counted out coins to Bernard.
TWC - 1257 / 2001

Miki admired the woman’s enthusiasm; she honestly wished she had as much as her… But after the years of being sold to the brothel house; losing the brothel, watching it burn down to the ground and the man who ran it; the man who bought her die within that same fire… Her mind was still within tangles of what happened that day; she had spent a good while in the hospital, her weak disposition was a curse to her. The woman would begin to ramble on how she was the opposite of Miki’s clan, stating that she wasn’t originally from Kirigakure, but she would cut herself, assuming that the information that the woman was planning on disclosing was private; Miki wouldn’t attempt to push that any further. She laughed a little; before getting the chance to answer her, they would be rushed off to the dunking booth.
As the woman explain the ‘humanity’ of the puppets, Miki found them only all but more intriguing; what useful tools they were for sure. She enjoyed the idea of it; she admired the innocents that the puppets had as well; questioning what a brothel was in the first place; she replied that moment back in her head, trying to see if the ‘Puppet Princess’ had at all moved her lips during the puppets speaking… She couldn’t seem to recall a time where she had.
Quickly her mind was set back to the present; hearing the now underdressed man give her a shout he was in fact ready for the games to begin. She glanced back, just for a moment, giggling as she took note that he appeared almost as if he was a candy cane. Her eyes would flicker back front; nodding towards Saya as she would let out a holler; “Come one! Come all! Be this your chance to dunk the fanciest of fancy man!” She couldn’t help but snicker at her comment, the village was full of not only its own villagers, but shinobi from all over the world, she would take note of all the different headbands that were wore; she proudly wore hers around her neck when she was on mission, when she wasn’t it would be found handing against her waist, usually tied to an article of clothing when she wasn’t within in the village. However, in this moment – the woman didn’t have her headband, as she never brought it around this time. She didn’t consider herself much of a shinobi, or kunoichi as she never continued with her training, she was considered a ‘genin’; but she didn’t even really consider herself that.
Miki would attempt several times getting people to come and try to dunk Asahi; “You sir!” She would call out; this man had a Kumogakure headband on; he was bigger on the muscle side of things, probably around six feet, four inches or around there at least. Miki caught his attention; “Do you think you could take this man down in the tank?” She grinned, using her wits about her; “Well, of course I could. I ain’t a weakling.” Miki smirked, she almost had the man hook line and sinker, she just needed to close the deal; “Well, I don’t think you can; it’s normally ten ryo a shot, but for you I’ll do it for five.” The man stared at her, shocked by the words that came out of her mouth; he snorted, slamming five ryo down on the table.
Should Saya or one of the puppets come up and attempt to say anything about Miki getting the price wrong; she would quietly hush them; and whisper; “It’s all apart of the plan. He’ll get all huffy, miss the first several shots; he won’t get it when he’s worked up.” Would be what Miki would say.
Miki watched as the man threw the first snow ball, hitting above the bullseyes target in general. She would giggle; the giggle would infuriate the man, he would proceed to slam down another five ryo; this would go on several more times before Miki would speak again instead of simply giggling. “Hey Mister, your racking up the ryo now. Why don’t I give ya a deal? I’ll give you three bigger snow balls, a much easier chance to hit that center; normally I’d charge twenty-five ryo for one of these bad boys… But for you mister’ I’ll give them to you for fifteen.” The same concept with the original white lie; but this one was even funnier; the snowballs wouldn’t be any bigger, but due to frustration; he would think they were.
“Fine.” He would slam seventy-five ryo; acquiring five of these ‘large’ snow balls, he would whip each one of them towards the bullseye; failing each time. He would groan; throwing his arms in the air; turning to look back at Miki as she was chatting with another person in line; “I want another, woman.” He would state; she would glance back towards him with her emerald eyes; smirking slightly; “Well, you best get to the back of the line. I let you go for a while, but there’s other people who want to give it a shot, sir.” She smiled sweetly; pointing to the lineup of people who were all now interested in dunking the man in the tank.

Re: Do you hear those sleigh bells ringing?

Even though the event was clearly work, Saya was actually having a blast. She danced about, her gaze shifting between the various stalls she and her team were working at to ensure she was keeping up with all the tasks assigned, and the sheer force of her aura quickly drew a large crowd. She would quickly step in when Miki said the wrong price, like a confused small child intending to correct the girl, but interuption from the Konoha ninja and a loud clearing of Ai's throat stopped her. Slowly what was going on dawned on her.
She closed the distance between herself and the colorful man preparing to be dunked in the vat of water, Intending to start a convorsation as the man Miki was grifting continued to buy and throw balls. What wasn't noticable was the subtle hand seals placed behind her back, and the symbol that appeared as she brushed her fingertips against the plunger. The non ninja crowd would have no clue that the shining metal gleamed with more than the sunlight, a powerful fuinjutsu barrier spreading out to protect it from any snowballs that would actually hit, and joining with Miki she started to poke fun at the customer too. A couple times the balls skimmed the plunger enough to dunk their new friend into the frigid waters below, elicting a giggle from the puppet princess as the fuin shield stopped the action. With a sigh she'd explain he has to hit just a little harder, pointing to a small child and suggesting that maybe they would have the strength to activate it. All said and done they raked in the money from this singular man before turning to the next. Thats when the fun started.
Small flowers flowed across Saya's body in specific points, including one each on the outside of her ankles. A thin vine slid down her heel, cutting easily into the ground with the power of her vigor and digging its way towards the dunk tank. It would be impossible to see the single fine crawl up the back of the tank just high enough to wrap around the arm of the plunger, and just as the frusterated man left and a small child stepped up, She pulled her prank.
The snowball went so wide it couldn't possibly have hit the plunger, which made it all the more strange when the mechanism activated, sending Asahi into the water. There were shouts of glee from the crowd, Saya jumped about in joy, and the two puppets stopped frying orders for a moment to give her another look, with Ai heading over as her shift ended to appologize to the man.
They would talk, allowing specific convorsation if it was given in narration where Ai explained the basics of their life as ninja, telling the story of the real Ai more than her time as a puppet. THey were in essence the same, and it was easy enough to describe the daily actions of the chakra made living clone as her own, so there wouldn't be much to suggest she wasn't living.

YOUR Chatting with the automaton, Asahi continued to trying to figure out what was going on with the creation. From what he could tell it’s controller wasn’t speaking, but the creation could……he was forced to add spiritual possession to the list of what could possibly going on. He had heard that….they….we’re from kiri. A land that he had no knowledge of whatsoever. He knew that there had been wars, among other things, but history of the present world mattered very little to him. To amend this during their conversation he would ask some details of kirigakure life and location, keeping it light and airy allowing the puppet to fill in the gaps. It wasn’t a military spy effort, but rather of one who is just nosy.
While they chatted Bernard would separate out a stack of ryo into three handing the bundles to Miki to be handed out. As the man and the automaton finished their conversation he’d see Miki nearby and give a shout “Not hanging on to that are you!” He’d smile, conveying that it was a tease and not a real accusation of theft. Ideally he’d be handed his stack of cash. It was let known that their shift was over and a new trio arrived taking over for them. They were advised to go about and enjoy the the rest of the festival, their last task from Yoi, a mission of self care.
He’d excuse himself from the two girls allowing them time to converse alone, saying he’d catch up to them in a few minutes, having the need to change. Hanging out with new people seemed like fun, a very festival thing to do. Making his way to a tent to change he’d exit his candy cane outfit and replace it with his brightly colored kimono. Tying off the sash, he’d grab Bernard before he could leave. Their conversation was rushed, and he returned just a couple moments later with a time written on wrapping paper of when he could meet with Yoi to have their conversation.
Running up he’d slide slightly in the snow before regaining his balance. “So ladies, where should we go first?” He’d ask with a smile. “I vote we get something to eat, my treat!” He’d chuckle waving the ryo thag they’d just been paid. Pointing to another stall nearby that had the smell of freshly cooked pork, with the stall next to it having wafts of some butterscotch drink Asahi would attempt to guide his new companions over. “So we have leaves, water, and rice in our little trio….truly a bountiful garden we have!” Laughing at his own joke he’d place his orders and wait for the food. Fully prepared for a montage of holiday cheer and events. He’d heard that there was a concert later by someone names Mariah Kuniochi who he very much would like to hear sing. He was pleased to let the girls pick out the majority of the fun now that he had a belly full of food, and a strong drink in his hand. The alcohol only adding to the warmth joy the festival provided.

The next contestant was a child; blissfully unaware of the trickery that Saya had cooked up behind her back; Miki couldn’t help herself when the child’s snow ball hit and dunked the flamboyant man, giggles erupting from the young kunoichi, “Well! Congratulations to our winner!” She found the amusement coming from the girl and her puppets also entertaining; as the night grew longer; she found herself enjoying her time with the Puppet Princess of Kirigakure, and even Asahi; however strange he may be. She found herself finishing out the night with several large stacks of ryo; and a very happy head elf; the call came for the shifts to change; which meant that the trio was finally allowed to walk about the festival; the head elf had warned them to keep an eye out for cheaters; and any ne'er do wellers that might be about the festival; should an issue arise he had asked that they take care of it. Miki; of course would agree, offering her arm to the Puppet Princess so they may walk together about the festival; should she accept; they would lock at the elbow, quite a funny spectacle for the small women; however she did enjoy the company of the overly happy Saya.
Before Miki would notice; the flamboyant man known as Asahi would return to the girls; “I would be fine with food, how about you and your lot?” Miki would no longer refer to the puppets as puppets, from what she saw of them throughout the night, they seemed as if they were living breathing people as well, their movements far more mechanical than a normal human; but similar enough to not argue the fact with Saya for the time being. “Personally, I think nice warm steamed bun would help us all with this cold. Perhaps some hot coco to go along with it.” As the man tried to steer the girls in a different direction; towards a distinctive smell of freshly cooked pork… And some form of butterscotch? Miki would speak once more; “Actually… That butterscotch… We should go inquire as to what that is… It smells completely divine.” Then the man would make his joke; ‘leaves, water and rice’. Miki would mentally shake her head; she found the comment amusing; but wouldn’t laugh aloud from it, just simply covering the lower half of her face with a fan she would pull out of her sleeve of the kimono; a small smirk laid behind the fan.
There was much left to do, and the event was still in its early hours; Miki would much enjoy spending the time to figure out more about the girl from Kirigakure; and perhaps even more about the lands her family came from. However for now, she would settle with just enjoying a few games, listening to good music and relaxing. She had caught wind of a group they would pass speaking about a concert later on that evening; something to do with a Mariah Kunoichi; she was curious as to what music; live music, would sound like in this village. There was even whispers that the ‘Great Yoi’ would even appear later during the evening; when it came time to light the large three-hundred foot tree. Miki was excited to finally see what this ‘Yoi’ looked like, her eyes scanned across the different booths before she finally found the one with the butterscotch; “Shall we make this booth our first stop?” She inquired with the others.
