Yoi tide greetings
Fri Dec 24, 2021 12:40 am
Walking through the candy cane village, Asahi thought back on his short time in the strange place. He’d met a couple interesting people, and had been asked to do some pretty bizarre things. Honestly, not that unusual if it wasn’t for the strangeness of how he was forced to come to be here. Dressed in a red and green kimono that the elves had granted him, he made his way to the workshop he’d been in several days before. The thoughts still fresh not on what had occurred but rather who they had occurred for. The creature called Yoi, was strange to say the least, and Asahi had experience in strange.
He’d performed the original duties asked, as well as even more for this singular opportunity. The opportunity to speak with Yoi one on one. He had his suspicion that Yoi was not just a deformed man, but rather a spirit. He doubted he was as powerful or regal as a kami, but a lesser spirit perhaps. Regardless he hoped to have these questions answered. Padding through the snow, his wooden clogs sliding just ever so slightly he’d made his way through the bakery, workshop, and finally to the office door that had a gold plated sign showing that it was in fact Yoi’s office.
He’d hit the door with 3 sharp knocks, hoping the man was within so he could finally get to the bottom of it. When no answer came, inpatients got the best of him. Trying the door handle just to see, he found that it slid open easily. Pushing inside he let himself into the medium sized office. Within was…..well it was one might expect from a place like this. Decorations in the most festive of spirits, a wall of snow globes, cookies still warm on the desk, paperwork strewn across the desk. On it was written the name of many, none of witch Asahi could recognize. The list was well worn, clearly having been checked at least twice. Scanning it was too large to properly go through, and there was other items he wanted to look for within the office. Allowing himself to sit in the big red chair behind the desk he’d try the drawers. He had little qualms with his investigation, fruitless as they became.
Each drawer was locked, and another scan of the room left little to be investigated. Pulling out a scroll he had managed to find during the festivities, he’d snatch a candy cane quill from the desk. On the parchment paper he’d begin to write, the kanji filling the scroll quickly and deftly. The evocation he was looking for was a simple spirit tag that burned blue in the vicinity of spirits. Not sure how potent Yoi was he hoped the remnants of his being here would be enough to trigger the scroll. Finishing he’d place it on the center of the desk and wait. It felt as though he waited a long time. His eyes finding one of the snow globes and loosing track of the time.
He wasn’t sure when sleep hit him, or if it was more of a hypnosis, but it came all the same. Within his dreamscape he saw a vast field of snow polarized by two trees. One bright and decorated with a star, the other barren with needles forming an impromptu tree skirt. The roots from both could be seen moving through the snow attempting to inch upon each others territory but they were stopped by a wall of….presents. Moving he saw each had a tag of different villages kanji upon the label.
*crash*
A loud noise brought him back to his senses. His eyes darted as his body forced himself to stand up. “Ho ho go, someone has been naughty I see.” The voice was that of Yoi. His face was still twisted in a smile but not that of joy. Looking down he had just enough time to see the tag explode in purple flame and vanish. Looking up his eyes met with Yoi’s, and as he blinked his eyes would open back on his room, falling backwards he felt as though his very spirit had been shoved back through space. Looking towards the window he’d see he was back home, and on the window sill a single small piece of coal.
