Feeling the ruthless still

Another stupid day, another stupid fucking menial task. This wasn't exactly the exciting life that he had expected, maybe being a shinobi wasn't as cracked up as he had assumed it was. But there was no time for him to complain about it now. He would get a stiff drink after today... so long as he was able to handle this problem as quickly as possible. This meant that he'd need to find the fastest and safest solution to the task at hand. What task was that? Well, it was none other than clearing down a big ass tree that had been in the way of some land that the village wanted to develop for more housing projects. With a village constantly growing, it wasn't a stretch to think that these kinds of tasks would be asked of the military. Still, it kind of hurt that he wasn't able to find anyone to aid him in this little endeavor. Not, that he needed the help to be honest. He was a well-built man, though there was room for improvement when it came to his physical appearance. He knew that much. Still... something about this whole accord seemed really fucking boring.
"You've got to be pulling my damn leg..." Hanzo exclaimed by the time he reached his target destination, looking up at the monster of a tree that he was ill equipped to deal with. He didn't even bring an ax because he was more than sure that he'd have been able to take the damn thing down with his own strength. He still felt that way, but this tree was a mammoth in its own right. It had to be at least four stories high and the trunk was thick enough to be at least two meters wide. How they expected anyone to get this tree knocked down was anyone's guess. But he had no choice in the matter. That much was for certain. He'd look down at his own two hands. Thinking about the crime he was about to commit by attacking nature with such reckless abandon. He wasn't one of those green thumb weirdos, but there was just something about striking a living tree that made him feel off. If the plants ever had an uprising he didn't want to be on their shit list. Conspiracy theory aside, he knew what he had to do. This freaking sucked.
It made sense at least... this tree would become burdened by the snowfall should it happen so it was better to be safe than sorry. Often times Hanzo ignored the chill but he knew that today his hands were going to hurt like nobodies business by the time he got down striking at this tree. At least today he was dressed in a manner that fit the chilliness that was in the air. Typically he kept his body exposed, or he wore a yukata, but today he was bundled up with a heavier one with a large scarf over his mouth and lower face. It was a lighter brown than the robe, but over-all it would be hard for anyone to identify him given the circumstances. Still, this was the perfect time to practice a technique that he had been thinking about. There was a jutsu that his former bandit leader used all the time whenever he wanted to torture captives, but his form and over-all application of the ability had many margins of error. He recalled his old leader talking about the technique, it was something called Nukite: The Spear Hand. It wasn't that crazy of a technique really.
He didn't slow nor did he falter. With time and repetition came experience. Soon he'd be good enough with the technique to see results, no matter how bloody his fingers got from the constant abuse of being thrust into a tree that was thicker than most. Not, that the thickness of the tree had anything to do with why this was such a complicated task. Still, eventually he'd puncture the tree with the tip of his right middle finger. His blood staining the hole was enough to cause a large smile to appear across his face. He knew that this was going to work. Putting his back into it, he'd scream out 'OSU' each time he plunged his finger-tips into the bark. Ripping into it further and further, creating an even split inside the tree until it eventually wavered and fell backwards with a loud resounding thud. He'd breath heavily, sweat covering his entire face and dampening his clothing. It might have been chilly, but he was hot and his hands numb. A smile grew on his face, however. Looking down at his hands, he fought through the pain in order to run off and get some much needed assistance.
He had been at the tree breaking for a few hours, so he didn't have to go far to get some help given that some concerned locals wanted to give him a hand anyway. The rest of the time would be spent using a saw to segment the wood into smaller logs, so that they were able to use the resources for various other projects around the city. Hanzo wasn't the strongest person alive or anything close to that measure, so he didn't even bother trying to do all the heavy lifting on his own. Still, there had to be more exciting projects than getting rid of a tree. But unless he earned his place within the village and garnered enough trust to go out on harder missions, it was never going to happen. With the task at hand complete and a new move under his belt, Hanzo felt good enough to return to the person who assigned him the mission, so that he could turn it in and spend the rest of his day recovering. There were many more projects to complete before he would have enough money to leave the village and go gather resources. It seemed as though his entire life was starting to seem a bit repetitive.
