Re: Where'd you go, Cotton Eyed Joe?
Sun Jun 12, 2022 8:38 pm
And the encroaching storm had started to begin, letting the rain of chaos beginning to fall.
A blink of Elias’ eyes had occurred, and suddenly, Hiroki had found himself in a bit of a predicament, albeit a familiar one. As his muscles began to tense with the unwitting first glance at his opponent, a slight sense of fear; the cold chill of danger ran down to the base of his spine. Everything within his body became locked within it’s place, arms still intertwined with one another across the Chunin’s chest. Luckily enough, due to prior knowledge of this technique, Roki was well aware that the attacker wasn’t able to move as well, lest he wanted to end this temporary onslaught of fear. The mischief maker’s eyes would then shift ever so slightly downward to avoid the gaze of any future attacks. All he really needed to see was the main body as a whole to be able to predict attacks and movements, which is precisely how he’d at least try to end up fighting.
It would seem as if Nobo would break this effect on himself, the Unity Seal being activated slightly before the Kage’s foot would slam into the ground, sending forth a rather violent shockwave. Unaffected by this area attack, the ground would simply rumble underneath his own feet. Following suit, without releasing himself from the bind of the genjutsu, Hiroki would then in tandem let one of his more suitable techniques surge from within. Without the need for handseals, lightning would arc forth in a dome shape around the youngin. After it’s formation, the area would then proceed to speed outwards until it had reached 20 meters on all sides, and would harmlessly pass through the ginger. But had the Uchiha remained in this area, he would find himself tanking some severe electrical burns. Another notable thing which had been amended into this technique since the black and white haired teen had started specializing in iryojutsu, was they’d also find themselves a bit more fatigued and drained from this same attack; had it made contact with the former Jounin of Kumo.

Although the time Elias’ opponents spent under his Genjutsu was short, the effects of his binding technique waned on their chakra networks and nipped at their stamina. Elia’s keen eyes picked up the first indication that his Genjutsu had been released, the Raikage’s leg slightly jerking from its previously frozen state. At the moment of sensing this minute, but important movement, Elias would relinquish his Genjutsu, restoring mobility back to himself, and then he would activate his right eye’s special technique which would quickly spread across his body at 240 speed, making him entirely intangible, although this was not apparent to either of the two before him. A powerful shockwave would radiate from the Raikage’s foot, and then he would activate his own sharingan and produce a legendary sword and proceed to attempt to strike Elias down, who was now doing his best impression of being affected by the Raikage’s sudden actions by producing a surprised look upon his face and stepping backwards 1 meter. Following the Noboru’s attacks, his subordinate would produce a powerful pulse of lightning which would also be targeted towards Elias.
Elias would begin to backpeddle backwards, putting space between him and his opponents while continuing to maintain his intangibility and once the dust settled, he would speak out to Noboru, “How far will you go on your quest for power Noboru? How did you obtain that eye?”

As Elias’ flinched at the approaching shockwave and blade of fire, ready to gain distance, so too did Noboru proper himself forward, following in on the shockwave that blasted from his heel. The burning sake would not yield, a beam of light fifteen meter long which curved at the redhead’s command to strike down Elias, and yet all it managed was to harmlessly fuse with the man in a display Noboru had never seen take place. Was he absorbing? No. His Sharingan and Byakugan showed a different reality; the blade existed within Elias as if the man was simply not there.
“He’s phasing”, called out Noboru, hoping his chunin wouldn’t waste chakra, however if he did, the circling lightning wouldn’t affect the Raikage either way due to the Unity Seal. As his chunin had had his genjutsu bind interrupted, perhaps a different course of action would take place.
A quick flick of his free hand into his weapon pouch, and the Storm Lord slipped a black pill into his mouth, crunching it under his teeth as the chakra within replenished his being and expanded it, giving him a light buzz. Behind Elias, trees burned and fell due to the initial strike and lurch forward, from the brutal blade of fire that the Raikage now called back into the gourd. Should Elias maintain his positioning and ask the same question now that they were at the edge of the 20m circle of destroyed trees, with Elias phasing through whatever trees were beyond, or at the edge of the 45m circular clearing with Elias standing just before the tree line started, Noboru would reply, eyeing the man with a calculated anticipated violence. “Much further than you could imagine, Elias. This eye, maybe you will talk with the previous owner on the other side, Volt Uchiha, a deserter, like you. So worry not; your eyes will still serve the village.”

A red flamed blade, the Raikage’s legendary weapon, would be the first to make contact wi-
Nevermind.
The sword had not made contact with Elias for some reason. It was all rather strange within the eyes of Hiroki. The attack against the deserter should have certainly hit due to him being restrained by the effect of his own genjutsu, but something about things had seemed…off to say the least. There was no physical change which could reflect upon this actually being true. But the dodge seemed mistimed almost too, like he didn’t make it out of the way in time. Yet no scratch lay upon the man’s body.
Keeping his eyes lowered, Hiroki’s head would cock slightly to the right. Noboru spoke about how their target had become intangible. With a deep sigh and a slight eye roll, making sure that throughout that said eye roll contact wasn’t made with Elias’ Sharingan, he’d mutter relatively loudly ”Great…the hard way it is then…at least this won’t be boring.” While saying that, the hand seals in which the Chunin of Kumo had previously been performing came to a quick halt halfway through their rapidly changing maneuvers of fingers; lowering only for a mere second in contemplation on what to do next. ”No matter, we just have to get him to unphase. Lord Raikage, I hope you don’t mind lending me some of your energy for this.” The teenaged Roki would quip back to the beast of a man who lead the village with an iron, yet gentle fist.
Within the next second, arms would be raised again, and a different set of seals would be interwoven; each finger delicately being placed with one another, intertwining speedily to get through the several necessary motions in order to cast this next technique. After these little particularities had been completed, the lad’s chakra would expand outward in a perfect spherical shape around himself; a sliver of it expanded upwards and started moving towards Nobo’s direction looking to connect with something. Had the Raikage been so generous enough to help out, this link would form with one produced by the tank, giving additional benefits as well besides the reinvigoration and boost of speed which it was already giving.

Despite their efforts, the blade nor the shock wave, proved to be successful. Noboru’s correct assessment of the situation was troublesome, yet in the wake of impending death, Elias couldn’t help but to smirk in response. He truly enjoyed the new life that he had built for himself. He enjoyed plowing the fields from morning until dusk where his wife would call out to him, signaling that dinner was ready. He enjoyed playing with his children’s and telling them stories of his younger days. He enjoyed the small community that they belonged to and his neighbors. But after all these years of enjoyment, there was nothing that he loved more, than engaging in battle.
“You haven’t skipped a beat my friend.” Elias would say in response to Noboru correctly deciphering his ability. Elias watched as Noboru slipped a black pill into his mouth, crunching it with his teeth. “I see.” Elias said, continuing to stand amongst the remaining fire that had been left from Noboru’s, now withdrawn, ethereal weapon. “I’m afraid we’ve both lost our way.” Elias took a deep breath then braced himself, “Will you tell my family that I died protecting the village?”
Elias would wait a moment for Noboru to confirm. If he did, Elias would respond with, “Alright then, let’s get this over with.” Elia’s entire being would begin to sink fully into the ground like a ghost, where he would travel unseen forward, towards his opponent's location. He would travel 30M straight, turn around, and then would quickly emerge from the ground so that he could fully face his opponents without having to worry about being burned by the residual effects of Noboru’s sword.

The compliment wouldn’t go far, the two had seen their fair share of battle back in the day, learning with each other as they went along. Of course, their more refined techniques had always been kept for rainy days, which they never saw among the clouds. It was as much a surprise to Noboru to learn that Elias could phase as much as it was to the Uchiha to learn the redhead had gotten his hands on the ocular technique of his clan. His own response didn’t seem to garner much from the killer turned farmer, outside of a recognition the two of them had become much different from what their younger selves had envisioned. Watching his friend stand among the destruction he inflicted onto the landscape, he couldn’t help but think of their good ol’ days. If only he had the hindsight to appreciate them back then for what they were.
The question was a surprise, but the Raikage didn’t let the man see that. Instead, he nodded. “I will.” He would become the monster of the story, the man who called their father and husband from retirement for a free will sacrifice, shouldering the burden of serving the village’s best interests while neglecting his own, as he so often did. The soldiers of the Kumogakure were not free; they swore to give that up for their country, and Elias had to pay the price for breaking that oath. It did not please Noboru in the least, and yet, like a good toy soldier, he obeyed their laws. The least he could do was take this mission up himself, for his sake, and for the sake of his friend.
Claiming to want to bring this to an end, Elias would sink onto the burning ground, to travel underneath them. Noboru’s byakugan, ever vigilant under the eyepatch, witnessed as the phasing man traveled under their feet, lifting his hand to point at the floor where Elias moved, doing his best to keep up as his skin burned red, veins bulding across his forehead and face, his hair standing on their ends, taking short leaps and cushioning his fall before taking another, taking care to circle to where he would be once again hidden in the shadow and not against the bright background of his destruction. When Elias arose, he performed a few quick handseals before his head peeked off the floor, and as Elias rose, his eyes finally visible, Noboru carefully avoided the red orbs, expelling a wave of chakra two meters away from the man, the cone would come into contact with the Uchiha as his body fully emerged from the ground, his Unity Seal enabled to avoid locking Hiroki should he come in contact with the Uchiha. Noboru’s own Sharingan traced the movements of the Uchiha, ready to adjust the firing of the beam at a moment’s notice.

Even though there wasn’t really any lingering emotion throughout the fight from himself, there seemed to have been even the smallest ounce of remembrance between the other two; two friends from way back when having to clash with one another. The stakes, their lives. The relationship and how close it was between them wasn’t revealed throughout the tidbits being thrown in the raging fires of combat. However, there still was that knowing that they once were allies. Now turned enemies. It was just their job after all; to stop criminals residing within Lightning Country; something that the Kage never seemed to turn a blind eye to thankfully.
In a blink, the body of Elias Uchiha was seen sinking beneath the crust of the earth’s topmost layer. Vanishing from plain sight. No potential indications could be made on where he was going to land, at least in Hiroki’s eyes. Not at this distance at least. The only thing in which he could do currently was rely on his Chakra Sensory, and the redheaded tank. When the deserter would have gotten into 5 meters, the general direction of where the man was coming from would be conferred; his gaze quickly peering toward his brother in arms, his eyes laid upon the muscular man’s hand pointing down towards where Elias was about to pop up.
Within that very instant, Roki would go to move an arm’s reach behind that exact point, following the lead of Noboru’s. While moving there, the Chunin’s hands would form two distinct sets of handseals for two different techniques, with the two being done in quick succession of one another. After it’s full completion, his right hand would light with crackling sparks of electricity; the left hand grabbing onto this static chakra and also forming it into that one. The technique in question looked like chidori but on steroids essentially, the lightning sparking two and from. This was formed just in time for Hiroki to stick his right hand forward, placing it where the abdomen of the phased farmer would eventually become tangible once more. The red robed lad was also careful to avoid potential eye contact while the ghostly Elias arose from the ground as if it were a grave. The 18 year old’s left hand would wait close by, ready to move if the need were to arise.
Had the attack been a success, there would be a devastating amount of power behind this; enough to pierce a hole in the hand’s particular placement. Also, the Uchiha member would become paralyzed where they not strong enough to resist the shocking nature of this attack. With this in mind, and only if this had all actually occurred, the youngest of the trio would then speak, a passive and knowing tone rang through the sound of the electrical currents; ”Lord 11th, if you have any respects to pay to this man while he’s still alive, do it now.” Although the men had found themselves on opposite ends of this battlefield, there still might be some niceties between them yet.

Elias rose from the ground to find that his opponents’ positions had changed. Although Elias possessed an advanced version of the Sharingan, the Mangekyou Sharingan, which granted him powers such as teleportation and phasing, it did not allow him to see through things like it’s cousin, the Byakugan. No- so when Elias rose from the ground, he found that his technique would reach the end of it’s duration and be met with a low level paralysis ninjutsu, along with the screeching hand of Noboru’s subordinate. “How did you see me?” Elias would say, blood splashing from his mouth onto Hiroki whose hand was now solidified in Elias’ body.
[Taking 235 Damage, 65 Health remaining]
Hiroki would say a few words to Noboru, and as he was mid-sentence, a purple smoke would begin expelling from the wound that surrounded Hiroki’s hand, and instantly after the smoke began to produce, Hiroki’s entire perception of reality became altered. He would find himself pulled into a a dark and desolate hell where large stakes were already driven into his limbs, paralyzing his body, and sending powerful sensations of pain to his brain. “Fights not over yet kid..” Elias would say, coughing blood once more onto Hiroki and the purple smoke continuing to push outwards towards Noboru. Elias knew that he had already sustained a tremendous amount of damage and that Noboru could end him at any moment, but he was not prepared to go down without a fight- possible taking one of them with him.

“How did you–” Noboru wasn’t one for waiting.
Having witnessed the power of the man’s Genjutsu, and still his intangibility, the redhead would take no chances in taking advantage of the twice paralyzed man, grasping the sake gourd after his tech was discharged and as Hiroki impaled the man to aim a decisive shot at his heart.
The blade of chakra traveled the distance in the blink of an eye, and would come out a few centimeters from Elias’ back, piercing the sternum, heart, and spine of the man with ease.
Noboru spoke no last words to his friend. He had said what he needed to say already.
They would meet again in another place.
For now, Elias’ soul would be trapped within the gourd of sake, enhancing its capacity, serving a sentence of drunken stupor.

Immediately upon hearing his allies attempt at words, but ultimately failing, it connected back to his first training with the redhead and how he mentioned the slightest sliver of information can give something away. In this particular scenario, it had given away two things; contrasting in their natures. The first, and more simple of the two, Nobo could’ve just gotten choked up with emotion. Deep down, the death of a friend is relatively sad no matter who they end up being. But, everyone eats their plate of grief differently from one another, and the Raikage didn’t seem like the man to wallow within his sorrows. Which brings to the second of the two. It was to finish things. Put a stop to the criminals potential to come back in the future to do all kinds of damage. He was a relatively straightforward, blunt type of guy, the style of the lad’s fighting was even a reflection of such.
This was at least what was inferred in the flash of a second for the older teen with his hand in Elias’ abdomen. This would also be essentially the catalyst for the next action of the salt and peppered haired misfit. Without the need to form handseals to perform this next task, Hiroki would proceed to spew a length of water from his mouth, coiling outwards and then down his shoulder. Until it would then shoot out to his free hand still sparkling with the flashes of controlled electricity; forming a whip like creation made from the blue liquid. The Raikiri would be partially submerged into this flowing consistent stream, it's lightning would be seen be carried through the whip because of this fact. And as Lord Noboru would launch his own attack, Roki would launch his. The water whip would lash out an extremely close distance to coil and snake it’s way around the Uchiha’s body to fully bind him. Not only would the paralysis from the duo’s previously launched techniques still be in place, but now the husband would have the constricting grasp of the raiton empowered, suiton construct.
It wouldn’t take long for it’s initial strike to land, even though it moved slower than the taijutsu specialist’s, it did have a slightly less distance to travel in order to actually hit. So, when it would start to slither it’s way round and round the lost friend’s torso region, it would do so in a way that it wouldn’t block where the 11th Kage of Kumogakure’s attack. Leaving a space in between each portion of where it had started to spiral ever so downwards until it would stop at his lower stomach area. Now, if Nobo’s attack didn’t do the trick, Hiroki’s most likely would.
