Re: Sunagakure Chunin Exam: Sumiko vs Daiki

It was game, set, and match. Daiki's blade found it's way into Sumiko's heart, the knife sinking all the way to the hilt, as Daiki felt a bit of guilt towards this "kill" but he knew that within a few moments it would all be over... or so he thought. He was watching Sumiko's face as he had sank the blade in and could see a gathering of blue chakra going around her lips before she pursed them causing a single senbon to be blown out. His senses went into overdrive as instincts kicked in as he lowered his head quickly as possible and opened his mouth. With a bite of his teeth he would grab onto the senbon and stop it in his tracks, the senbon sticking straight out of his mouth, before he turned his head and spat it out. Sumiko's last act of desperation would clatter harmlessly onto the ground but it wouldn't be forgotten by Daiki anytime soon as he looked to her now dissolving form. "You fought bravely, Sumiko." he said as he laid the remains of her body on the ground gently. "That was an enjoyable battle." He smiled before standing up straight and bringing his hands together in order to bow to her as her body fully dissolved being brought back into reality.
After he had made certain she was gone he immediately started to feel the aftereffects of adrenaline leaving his body causing the pain of the burns along his arm and side to fully be felt which caused him to bite his tongue as he shook his still burnt very slowly healing arm. "Motherf-!" he would say while trying to keep things PG as he looked down to his body and noticed that the side that had taken the blow from the paper bomb had blown apart that side of his clothing showing his bare torso which was just as burnt as all the other affected limbs. Even his muscular body couldn't handle the burns with ease as he would touch portions of his burnt skin only to reel back from the mistake. The pain was... not fun. "The winner is Daiki Senju!" The announcement would ring out across the arena as Daiki grimaced while standing there looking around the arena for a way out, not really caring for the announcement, until finally he looked down and saw that his body was dissolving as well. Before long he was back in the land of the living, sitting in the chair that he had originally taken during the start of the match, as he reached up and pulled the headset off of himself and breathing in fresh air. He looked down to see that he was whole and healthy again, no burns anywhere in sight, as he got up from his chair and looked over to where Sumiko was.
If she was still there he would offer his hand in a gesture to shake hers with a small and kind smile across his face. "That was a good match. I think you have the makings to be a great Kunoichi someday. It'd be an honor to train with you sometime if the fancy ever strikes you." If she wasn't there he would simply nod in understanding and wait for further instruction before heading on to wherever he needed to head on.

- Side Note:
- Being that my Chakra Enhanced Strength duration would end by this turn I understand my speed would be reduced to 30 making catching a senbon moving at 32 speed (chakra infusion only affects weapon health and impact force) point blank difficult. To that I argue that my DR is still too high for the senbon, at 42 impact force, to really do anything to Daiki, whose DR is at 55. At best it would cause a tiny scratch along the skin which Daiki's automatic healing factor would take care of. At worst the senbon would bounce harmlessly off. My post is meant to make Daiki appear a bit more badass/hilarious while showing a bit of respect to his opponent at the same time. If Sumiko has any issues I'm more than happy to address them.

" What is this ache. . . this ache in my chest?"
~ The pain was nothing less than awful as the kunai blade severed skin and organs like melted butter. The virtual reality had given her a window to what death would feel like if she met its' unforgiving embrace yet this pain held nothing to the weight of her own disappointment and bitterness that found its' way through her otherwise fortified defenses. A kunoichi who had mastered her emotions in the face of adversity which allowed her mind to be clear and concise had spun into darkness as her digital self materialized. Due to her death, Sumiko would be the first to return to reality but only her grey eyes would slowly open revealing a very dull gaze while her own thoughts held her in an aggressively like a metal vise. To work so hard on her skills and formulate plans for months only to be bested in a manner so mundane and in a public setting was nothing less than embarrassing to the statue that was Sumiko.~
(thoughts) " To see it coming yet, still get caught. . . I am an embarrassment to the Hidden Sand. . ."
" Princess. . . could they sense my weakness and made it an insult?"
" I have sullied both the Yoshido and Kazekage families legacies. . . Are they looking down upon me with distaste? Judgment?"
~ Despite being free from the VR, the weight upon her chest only grew and her heart still ached to the point that a sudden pressure had begun to form in her head as the recollection of being saved by Yusuke and narrowly escaping Kaito's wrath played in her head. . . Was she truly so delusional to think that she could somehow elevate the legacy of being a kunoichi? Could she truly be so weak? Like vultures, these thoughts picked her fortitude, revealing the bare bones of her raw emotions. At this moment, her eyes watered and tears began to trail down her rounded face while her breathing had deepened slightly to prevent her from completely breaking down at that moment. As she sat there completely spaced out, someone must have removed the headset from her head but suddenly another voice called out to her that orignated from the depths of her soul.~
(thought) " NO! This is NOT who we are nor is this going to break us. . ."
~ The voice was loud and harsh that it echoed through her mind and had stopped the growing dispair that was quickly overwhelming her. With this voice the pain her chest and the ebbing of her head had began to settle while a warmth had gathered in her gut which brought damaged Sumiko its' full attention.~
(thought) " You will not face loss and allow it to cripple you. . . You are a Yoshido and you come from prestige! Stop embarrassing yourself. . ."
~ With each word the metaphorical darkness cleared as a figure slowly became more and more visible with the final statement making this inner voice's manifestation clear to her inner eyes. It was her. . . with skin as as pale as the moon and a white kimono to match that complimented crimson glowing red eyes and jet black hair that seemed to flow without restraint. Inner Sumiko's face was serious but held an unsettling aggression and rage that made Sumiko's skin crawl as it got closer but when it did the flame in her stomach grew exponentially until her entire body felt its' embrace as inner Sumiko stood before her.~
Inner Sumiko: " Failure does not guarantee embarrassment and dishonor; Ignorance, pitty, and quitting does. Allow your ambition, your inner rage, and your dedication to fan the flames within you. . . then allow it to incenerate anyone who dares to challenge you!"
~ While Sumiko wasn't entirely sure how this was possible the kunoichi couldn't refute the truth of her words and statement slowly brought the child out of this hole that her own expectations and insecurities had put her in. This loss would sting for a while but it would be dishonorable and pathetic to allow this to take her out. . . that is what those who doubted her would expect. . . Sumiko's introsepction ended when she heard Daiki speak to her, commending her for her efforts. Her eyes had shifted from the shinobi's smile and down to his open hand before she'd slowly stand to her feet before wiping her eyes. Her expression would be hard to read given the residual signs of her distress being noticeable behind her oddly enthusiastic expression. The kunoichi's hand met the Senju's before griping it securely as she peered up at him.~
" That sounds delightful. . . Very smart moves on your behalf though I will prove to be quite the opponent the next time."
~ Her words were calm and collected yet there was a slight nauance that would make it appear as if she knew something that Daiki didn't know. Once the handshake concluded, Sumiko would stick around for whatever response the Senju had for her before bowing to him then Sebastian and making her way out of the examination room with her head held high and a small smirk on her face.~
