- Mission Name: Baywatch
Rank: B-Rank
Mission Location: Mikadzuki Beach
Challenges: N/A
Task: Some of the lifeguards have come down with food poisoning after eating improperly prepared shrimp the night before. You have been tasked with taking charge of a full 8-hour shift as their replacement until the next shift arrives. Make sure nobody drowns or gets swept out into the open ocean.
Word Count Requirement: 3,000 WC
Reward: 6,000 Ryō / 30 AP
Character Requirements: N/A
Character Exclusive: N/A
All is quiet on the shores of Mikadzuki Beach. Recently, two of the neutrally assigned lifeguards in this safe haven of an area came down with an unfortunate bout of food poisoning, which stemmed from poorly handled, subpar quality shrimp prepared for the staff. This resulted in them picking up last minute helpers from two separate villages, although they won't know who their partner is until they've actually met. Their selected few happen to be Lynn Uchiha of Konohagakure, and Hikari Namikaze of Hoshigakure. Generally, the shinobi villages kept to themselves in order to prevent any sort of inner conflicts, or powerplays by any deciding party, but when you're cooperating on neutral grounds, such notions get thrown out the window. At the very least, they're both warned that their foil may or may not be of a differing affiliation, so there isn't too much surprises there. Being warned to play nice regardless of what happens, and to not be violent meant little to the young Uchiha in the grand scheme of things. She had no plans of being a troublemaker. Just get the job, and maybe interact a tiny bit before leaving once eight hours are over. Piece of cake.
The start of this shift is dressed up by the scorching hot early morning rays of the sun above, only combatted by the endless waves of sea water in the rookie lifeguard's midst. A mild but welcome ocean breeze skitters through the air, soothing her heated and somewhat tinged skin caused by the giant star above. She never really bathed in the sun, preferring the calm and cold weather of night, so she knew for a fact that sunburn could be a harmful possibility for her in the long run. This is at least helped by the uniforms that she and her partner would be wearing for their lifeguard duties; for men, a simple pair of red swimming trunks, and for women, a modest one piece swimmer's suit, also bright red. Of course, she had the one piece, and it settled around her lithe yet supple body rather nicely, making her feel very feminine, even with her shorter green hair making her look more like a tomboy. How would her mystery partner look in the same garbs, she wonders? Only time would tell, as it's about five minutes earlier than they're supposed to be there for her. No use in delaying the inevitable, after all.
Their meeting area is a set of two watch towers, no more than five meters apart from one another, overlooking a chunk of the set board the beach activities have to work with. They're supplied with big horns to make calls in case of emergencies, as well as a set of life savers, and even a surfing board on the unlikely chance they need to surf the waves to reach a helpless civilian. Fortunately, the shark sightings have been going down by the hundreds ever since the many varieties of shinobi started showing up, so she's sure she and her unknown ally will have an easy job ahead of them. No one other than small kids really messed up in their respective societies, as the danger lurking around most corners of the world required you to be ready for it no matter what. Regardless, she can at least get used to wearing the awesome pair of sunglasses she was given to help with mission, and she nervously messes with the whistle around her neck as she waits to see who she's partnered up with. The sooner she's done with this, the sooner she can go hang out with Nagisa again.

It was merely a few minutes before the shift of the Haven Shinobi Hikari Namikaze started as she found herself on the shores of Mikadzuki Beach. It had been a few days since the woman had arrived on the paradise island and had spent some time trying to figure out what was going on, but after some days of finding nothing, the Akari had just decided to enjoy her vacation. She had spent the majority of the last few days lazing away, but a quick look into her coin pouch reminded the woman that she was still in crippling debt at the moment, and went out looking for work. With some luck, the Akari had found some short term employment to work as a lifeguard at an easy spot on the beach while the normal lifeguards were out on vacation. 4 hours of relaxing on a beach where it seemed nothing ever went wrong and get paid? Sounded like a good time to the Akari!
While the lifeguard had been provided a uniform to walk around the beach on, Hikari hadn't received it in time and instead wore a simple onesie swimsuit with a white front and back, with the sides being a different type of fabric that was black in coloration. The one piece swimsuit lacked a back, and rode up high on her thighs to the point it was showing off her hips. The Kunochi had some makeup that was still covering her imperfections on her face. Over her byakugan, the Kunoichi wore her usual colored contact lense which makde the eye's iris look almost like a reflection of the Mikadzuki Beach that the Kunoichi found herself at. The Akari's other eye wasn't disguised even slightly, displaying her natural golden iris which was a clear sign someone who was an Akari. These eyes be able to be seen underneath the Akari's reading glasses. Under her feet she wore leather flipflops that was designed in such a manner to make it look akin to wooden shoes. Her long blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail. Over her top, the power of Haven wore a simple white hoodie, which gave her at least a sense of modesty about her. Her knee had been acting up again, so Hikari had wrapped it with black support tape, but other than that left it as it was. Finally, around her neck the woman wore a simple silver whistle, which she could use to catch people's attention.
Holding onto a cooler full of water and sport drinks, the blonde Haven woman would step onto the beach and approach the only other person on the beach at the time. "Lynn, right?" Hikari would inquire in an upbeat and friendly tone. "I'm Hikari, and I am guessing we have the next couple of hours watching this place. Do you need anything to drink? I brought way to much and will probably need to give some away." The Akari would ask, opening up the cooler to reveal a large variety of drinks.

When she noticed a distinctly blonde haired woman making her way towards the guard towers, something in Lynn's gut told her that they're probably their partner. Now that she has more time to think as well, she realizes that their partnership wasn't as unknown as she was thinking. Maybe it was the fact she hadn't gotten much sleep the night prior, or mayhap she was having a case of short term memory. Whatever the case, she's less surprised about being addressed by her name when the Haven shinobi drops her cooler down, and introduces herself as Hikari. "Good thing she doesn't know I'm a Uchiha... and that no one else knows at all, for that matter," she thinks to herself, letting out a sigh of relief as she goes up to bow towards them in a semi casual, but still respectful manner, returning the sunny smile she's been given with a shy, bashful one of her own. They weren't even wearing the given swimsuits, but she didn't really blame them. Their choice was much better for their overall style, from what she can tell.
"Erm, right... it's nice to meet you. I hope we have an uneventful day, but you look capable. I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time. And, yes, I'll gladly take a drink," she graciously exclaims, rubbing the back of her neck and kneeling down to peer at their collection of beverages. Seeing a carbonated soda, she grabs the glass bottle almost immediately as her choice, and closes the cooler up if Hikari had already gotten one herself, but if she didn't, she doesn't touch it at all. Looking around once more to check their perimeter, she nods quietly at her shift partner and leans against a palm tree that's nearby the both of them, still having an eagle eyed view of the surrounding area from it. At least she'd be able to focus while she talks up the mature looking woman she's currently with. Their golden eye was quite curious to her, given she hadn't much knowledge of anything outside of Konohagakure's own history collections. The rest is a work in progress for her.
"So... Hikari, yes? I've got to say, you're very gorgeous. Don't think I've seen anyone with your particular look before, to be honest... what brings you to the beach? Vacation like most of the shinobi here? It's been pretty nice, not having to look at everyone and be super wary... honestly, I feel like this type of peaceful atmosphere should be the norm." This topic hasn't been broached with a foreigner before, so she figured it'd be best to start their inevitable conversations like that. Testing other people's views on the situation at hand would make her feel more comfortable with staying longer. At the very least, when she opens up her soda and takes a sip, she doesn't think about the fact it could be tainted in some way. That'd be stupid, because if anyone were to actively engage in such actions here, they'd probably get swiftly dispatched in a heartbeat. It caused a sense of safety to envelop her, but those thoughts at the back of her mind always surfaced when she was surrounded by the unknown. She gives a nervous smile to Hikari as she waits for an answer.

As the Kunochi would set the cooler down, the girl would join Lynn as she would reach in and would grab her own blue sports drink, and remove the plastic bottle cap before taking a drink from the elctrolighted beverage. "Be careful drinking to much carbohydrates on the beach to quickly." Hikari would give a friendly reminder. "Those drinks aren't really made to hydrate you, and on the beach it could be painful if you aren't used to the heat of the beach."
The boy would complement Hikari on her appearance, which would cause the girl to blush as it was rare for anyone to complement a woman on her beauty so shortly after meeting them in Haven, but from her time in Fire country, the girl knew that was a little more of a thing in those parts of the world. "Oh, um thank you! My look isn't to uncommon in the North where I am from. Blonde Hair actually is a sign of nobility where I come from, the entire previous royal family actually had golden hair." The Akari would explain, being caught off guard for a second, before catching what she was implying and clearing it up. "Not that I am a noble. I suppose it was just a dormant gene since neither of my parents had blonde hair."
As Lynn would continue to ask about what brought her to the beach, the girl would pause for a second before responding, "Well, If I am being honest, I sort of just... woke up here I guess you can say? It was honestly quite scarry falling asleep in my apartment, and just waking up in this place I had never seen before. I spent the past two weeks trying to actually figure out what was going on, but eventually gave up when a few of the locals explained that this was sort of a normal event, and I would probably wake up back in the North in a few weeks. I haven't had a vacation since I was a teenager, so I just decided to take it easy and take a break from everything." The Akari would explain.
Once the two had gotten their drinks, Hikari would take the cooler and move it next to a pair of long white chairs that had a raised seat to give the viewer the ability to see over the patrons and see the water along with the gorgeous beachside. "But yes, it is quite beautiful and peaceful here. The regular plane is quite war-torn, so any sort of break from that is a blessing."
Pulling herself up on the chair, which was her station, the girl would take a seat on it. "What about yourself Lynn? Just here to enjoy the scenery? Or do you have something else going on?"
