Trading Sand For Rain [Kaito, Naki, & Karo]

The hot, ruthless sun showed brightly over the Wind Country. It was much unlike the heat from within Sunagakure, which itself was protected from the harsh conditions by the protective dome that encased the village.

This heat was much more brutal, easily reaching temperatures around 110 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. It was a dry heat on top of it all; one that could easily bring even the most willful shinobi down to their knees.

Kaito, Naki, and Karo were surely all feeling these effects to their fullest extent. Kaito was for sure, and he had already gone through three of the bottles of water he had packed with him for the journey through the endless dunes. They had only traveled for three or four hours since leaving Sunagakure earlier in the day, and the sun was now at its highest point in the sky as the clock slipped past noon.

At about this time the trio would reach a derelict fence that stood about 3 meters tall. It was chainlink, a small gate hanging from its hinges, and it seemed to stretch on forever in either direction. A small sunbleached sign with black lettering in a caution symbol painted onto it was hanging loosely from the gate.

Kaito, who would take a form of charge in the group, held out his arm for them to stop in place. He waited a moment before stepping cautiously forward to read the sign, watching his each and every step so as to not fall into any potential traps that awaited any unsuspecting travelers.

He didn't step on any, thankfully, and maneuvered his head to read the sign without stepping through the gate.

'Now entering the Rain Country' It read in big, bold letters.

Kaito sighed, realizing that they had finally reached the border. Beyond those fences, the sand dunes would surely end and give way to some luscious forests, and should the name of the country portray, tons of water.

'Thank the gods above…' He thought to himself as he turned around to face his teammates with a smile.

"Looks like we're at the border now." He explained with a hint of ease. "We should make a point of double-checking all the gear we have on our person before proceeding. Plus, I have something that will make this last leg of the journey that much easier for the three of us."

Kaito would slip the backpack off of his back and set it down into the sand at his feet. Kneeling down over it, he would unzip all of the compartments and examine all of his gear closely. On top of a bedroll and two changes of clothing, there were four more full bottles of water, the three empty bottles he had already consumed, many soldier pills and candies, some m.r.e packs for food, and three red token-like devices. He would keep only one of the bottles of water and two of the tokens out of his pack as he replaced his other possessions.

Once finished he would stand back up, replace the backpack around his shoulders, and walk up to Naki and Karo.

"These two items here are called "Travel Tokens", or at least that's what my father used to call them. He said that one of these bad boys could transport up to two people to just about anywhere in the world instantaneously, almost like someone has infused them with Space-Time Chakra." Kaito would hand one of the Travel Tokens over to Karo. "Karo, just make sure to have the name of your destination in mind, and it will work. I'll take Naki with me." Kaito would place the hand in which he held his bottle of water onto Naki's shoulder. "Just follow my lead, Karo…" Kaito would take a deep breath and close his eyes as he infused a bit of his own Chakra into the Token in his hand. The small glass button on it began to glow brilliantly as to show that it was ready for use.

"Rain Country…"

In the blink of an eye, Kaito and Naki would both disappear into nothingness. Sure enough, when Kaito opened his eyes again, he was immediately greeted by a thick jungle. A torrent of Rain encased him, but it mattered not to him as he had on his coat and turban to black it all from hitting him directly. He would remove his hand from Naki's shoulder and wait for Karo to arrive, as once the third Genin would make his appearance, their mission and last exam would begin immediately…
